• Are any Zotac Zboxs suitable as HTPC / media centres?

  Are any Zotac Zboxes suitable as HTPC / media centres? I'm after a fanless HTPC client in the living room to work with my MythTV server in my home office. I like the small compact form factor of the Zbox but what little I could find by Googling didn't clearly recommend any particular models for Ubuntu / MythTV / XBMC. Can anyone recommend any models that work with little hassle? Or, if there aren't any, are there other more Linux-friendly small format fanless PCs I should be looking at instead?

• Navigation Category page not indexed by google

  Navigation menu is in the form of categories on website htttp://bankpo.in, none of the category page is being indexed by google. I searched with exact URL for a category, still related results are shown instead of category page. I have checked google webmaster and there are no crawling error or any other error message, so i am really confused what might be the problem. Website is not a new one and is continuously updated, so please can anyone tell me the reason for this

• udev hide partition in nautilus for specific user/group

  I'm trying to hide a partition form a specific group of users in Ubuntu 12.04. I have created a new rule in /etc/udev/rules.d/99-hide-disk.rules with KERNEL="sda3",ENV{UDISKS_PRESENTATION_HIDE}="1" And this works for all users. I tried KERNEL="sda3",ENV{UDISKS_PRESENTATION_HIDE}="1",GROUP="adm",MODE:="0700 but the partition is still hidden. That changes the group and permissions on the device rather than the rule. How do I make the rule only apply to a particular group of users?

• Is there a simple way to stop enemies standing in the same spot?

  So: top-down game, my enemies chase the player, when they get within a certain distance they stand still and fire. If they're all coming from the same direction they all end up standing in the same spot (i.e. standing "within" each other), as I'm not currently doing collision detection between enemies - they are free to pass over each other. What's a simple way around this? Either some form of collision detection or some ai?

• need some concrete examples on user stories, tasks and how they relate to functional and technical specifications

  Little heads up, Im the only lonely dev building/planning/mocking my project as I go. Ive come up with a preview release that does only the core aspects of the system, with good business value and I've coded most of the UI as dirty throw-able mockups over nicely abstracted and very minimal base code. In the end I know quite well what my clients want on the whole. I can't take agile-ish cowboying anymore because Im completely dis-organized and have no paper plan and since my clients are happy, things are getting more complex with more features and ideas. So I started using and learning Agile & Scrum Here are my problems: I know what a functional spec is.(sample): Do all user stories and/or scenarios become part of the functional spec? I know what user stories and tasks are. Are these kinda user stories? I dont see any Business Value reason added to them. I made a mind map using freemind, I had problems like this: Actor : Finance Manager Can Add a Financial Plan into the system because well thats the point of it? What Business Value reason do I add for things like this? Example : A user needs to be able to add a blog article (in the blogger app) because..?? Its the point of a blogger app, it centers around that feature? How do I go into the finer details and system definitions: Actor: Finance Manager Action: Adds a finance plan. This adding is a complicated process with lots of steps. What User Story will describe what a finance plan in the system is ?? I can add it into the functional spec under definitions explaining what a finance plan is and how one needs to add it into the system, but how do I get to the backlog planning from there? Example: A Blog Article is mostly a textual document that can be written in rich text in the system. To add a blog article one must...... But how do you create backlog list/features out of this? Where are the user stories for what a blog article is and how one adds/removes it? Finally, I'm a little confused about the relations between functional specs and user stories. Will my spec contain user stories in them with UI mockups? Now will these user stories then branch out tasks which will make up something like a technical specification? Example : EditorUser Can add a blog article. Use XML to store blog article. Add a form to add blog. Add Windows Live Writer Support. That would be agile tasks but would that also be part of/or form the technical specs? Some concrete examples/answers of my questions would be nice!!

• CES 2011–Microsoft Keynote Impressions

  Microsoft has been kicking off the CES for a number of years by doing a keynote the evening of the event first day.  This year, SteveB talked about Xbox, Kinect, Windows 7 new laptops, Surface 2 and Windows vNext running on the ARM architecture. Some of the design of the new laptops showed are quite amazing.  This one has a dual screen with no physical keyboard.  The image is split between both screens.  A software keyboard appears when you place your 10 fingers on the lower screen. This one from Samsung has a sliding keyboard somewhat like numerous cell phones have. What I found the most amazing is that Intel was able to miniaturized a full Intel architecture (CPU, motherboard, memory) in a tiny form factor.  Imagine having the power of a full PC running .NET apps in a Zune/iPod form factor! They also showed V2 of the Surface device.  This one is called the Samsung SUR40 for Surface PC.  It’s much sleeker and it will likely loose the BAT (Big Ass Table) moniker  More info here SteveB announced that Windows vNext will run on ARM chips.  I’m intrigued by this announcement (you can read about it here) and I have many questions: -In the past ARM devices were slow, what now makes the ARM architecture able to run Windows? -ARM is 32-bit only, I think. -Does this mean that Intel wasn't able to provide such a lightweight architecture or simply that they weren't interested? -From what I understand, apps would need to be recompiled for ARM. Will we need to do that from an ARM PC or could it be done natively on Intel or on an Intel PC running in an ARM VM?  VS 2012? Ahhhh, smells like a cool PDC is coming up    Clearly it looks like PC have enough power for most of us right now and that the race is now about miniaturization, power consumption and battery life.   I am planning to build an expression parser that will be used to graph algebraic functions ( think TI-83 ) with JavaScript. Functions will take the form of f(x)= Aside from typical operators such as: + - * / ^ I'd also like to add support for inline functions such as: sin(), cos(), log() and random(). I have looked at implementing the Shunting Yard algorithm for parsing expressions, but it does not look like an efficient approach to evaluating a function with a hundreds or thousands of inputs. What other known algorithms exist for this task?
