• Java.lang.reflext.Proxy returning another proxy from invocation results in ClassCastException on ass

  So I'm playing with geotools and I thought I'd proxy one of their data-access classes and trace how it was being used in their code. I coded up a dynamic proxy and wrapped a FeatureSource (interface) in it and off it went happily. Then I wanted to look at some of the transitive objects returned by the featureSource as well, since the main thing a FeatureSource does is return a FeatureCollection (FeatureSource is analogous to a sql DataSource and featurecollection to an sql statement). in my invocationhandler I just passed the call through to the underlying object, printing out the target class/method/args and result as I went, but for calls that returned a FeatureCollection (another interface), I wrapped that object in my proxy (the same class but a new instance, shouldn't matter should it?) and returned it. BAM! • Deleting entity with child relationships using .Net Entity Framework problem

  My God, EF is so frustrating. I can't seem to be able to get my head around what I need to do so I can delete an object. I seem to be able to remove the object but not the related child objects. Can anyone tell me what is the rule of thumb when you want to delete all related child objects of a given object? I've tried loading all related objects like this: if (!object.childobjects.IsLoaded) object.childobjects.Load(); but once I do the following I get errors related to the relationships: modelcontext.DeleteObject(object); modelcontext.SaveChanges(); Why can't I just load the object using modelcontext.GetObjectByKey and remove it along with its child objects? My other question is can I delete an object using Entity command like so? DELETE e from objectset as e where e.id = 12 I've tried few variations and all of them throw exceptions.

• Can I make any ASP.NET/HTML element into form-data that posts back to the server?

  I am using Javascript to alter the innerHTML attribute of a <td> and I need to get that info back in the form submittal. The <td> corrosponds to an <asp:TableCell> on the server-side, where the Text attribute is set to an initial value. The user cannot enter the value in this particular field. Instead, its value is set by me (via client-side script) based on actions that the user performs. But this field is useless to me if I can't see its value on the server-side as well. I'd like to avoid using a read-only textbox, because those are difficult to resize dynamically. Can an <asp:Label> be used as form data? Is there any way to achive this without letting the user manually enter the data? Or is there a simpler way to store a string as a variable somewhere and send it back as form-data?

  Anybody see what's wrong? Doesn't seem to do anything. If i replace $(this, '.inner').stop(true, false).fadeIn(250); with $(.fadeInOnHover .inner').stop(true, false).fadeIn(250); then all the .inner elements on the page will fade in (which isn't really what i want, as i have ~10 of them). I know it's possible to achieve what i want to do, but i don't know how in this case.   I am trying to write a LINQ query which will return true if there are multiple objects which have a property with the same value.   Hi My ASP.Net app is periodically getting the error 'Cannot find the object dbo."XXXX" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions' when it tries to execute a specific stored procedure that writes to the database. I have seen a few forum posts about this issue but the strange thing is that the method works fine almost all of the time, just every now and then I see it in my error logs. • Graphics glitch when drawing to a Cairo context obtained from a gtk.DrawingArea inside a gtk.Viewport.

  I am trying to redraw the part of the DrawingArea that is visible in the Viewport in the expose-event handler. However, it seems that I am doing something wrong with the coordinates that are passed to the event handler because there is garbage at the edge of the Viewport when scrolling.   I am at a point where I need to take the decision on what to do when caching of objects reaches the configured threshold. Should I store the objects in a indexed file (like provided by JCS) and read them from the file (file IO) when required or have the object stored in a distributed cache (network, serialization, deserialization) We are using Solaris as OS. ============================ Adding some more information. I have this question so as to determine if I can switch to distributed caching. The remote server which will have cache will have more memory and better disk and this remote server will only be used for caching. One of the problems we cannot increase the locally cached objects is , it stores the cached objects in JVM heap which has limited memory(using 32bit JVM). ======================================================================== Thanks, we finally ended up choosing Coherence as our Cache product. This provides many cache configuration topologies, in process vs remote vs disk ..etc.

• backbone.js Model.get() returns undefined, scope using coffeescript + coffee toaster?

  I'm writing an app using coffeescript with coffee toaster (an awesome NPM module for stitching) that builds my app.js file. Lots of my application classes and templates require info about the current user so I have an instance of class User (extends Backbone.Model) stored as a property of my main Application class (extends Backbone.Router). As part of the initialization routine I grab the user from the server (which takes care of authentication, roles, account switching etc.). Here's that coffeescript: @user = new models.User @user.fetch() console.log(@user) console.log(@user.get('email')) The first logging statement outputs the correct Backbone.Model attributes object in the console just as it should: User _changing: false _escapedAttributes: Object _pending: Object _previousAttributes: Object _silent: Object attributes: Object account: Object created_on: "1983-12-13 00:00:00" email: "[email protected]" icon: "0" id: "1" last_login: "2012-06-07 02:31:38" name: "Ben Ipsen" roles: Object __proto__: Object changed: Object cid: "c0" id: "1" __proto__: ctor app.js:228 However, the second returns undefined despite the model attributes clearly being there in the console when logged. And just to make things even more interesting, typing "window.app.user.get('email')" into the console manually returns the expected value of "[email protected]"... ? • Jquery: highlight element on mouseover without hanging or lagging.

  When I had elements highlighted upon mouseover, it would work fine with sites with minimal number of elements. But when the number of elements on a page was very big, the effect would "lag" so to speak. It would take a while for each elements to highlight upon mouseover event. Has someone solved this problem successfully ? I've seen a prototype.js example that does not lag.

Am I supposed to set up an onTouchEvent call back in my Java code, which then launches the JavaScript function?

  take this linq into consideration: list.Where(sil => sil.XML.Element("ticket") != null && sil.XML.Element("ticket").Attribute("id").Value == smsRequestIn.TicketID) if the "ticket" element is not null it searches for it twice and hence is not very effective. Is there a way to use some sort of variables within the linq expression so I can reference the variable instead of doing a double search for the "ticket" element or is linq intelligent enough to not do a double search?

When I try to save the Employee I get an error: 2010-04-07 10:05:22.491 CoreData2[1112:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: Department)' I tried, just for testing, to make the reference from Employee to Department optional, but I get the same result. I'm having my first steps in CoreData so please be as clear and simple as you can. Thanks, Tzur.
