• jQuery .submit() woes with IE8

  I am trying to submit a delete link click via a http post to my asp.net mvc controller. While my code below works for chrome it does not work in IE8. Any pointer will be very useful. • Spring 3 - Theme with separate JSP

  Hi, I'm trying to rewrite some Spring 1.2 code to Spring 3.0 one. Currently I'm stuck with JSP resolved by URL problem. Application uses separate JSP files with different layouts for serving the same model from the same controller. The JSP is switched using interceptor, that intercepts the url and changes the view. For example: /design_one/mypage.htm -> MyPageController -> /design_one/mypage.jsp /design_two/mypage.htm -> MyPageController -> /design_two/mypage.jsp Is there a way to make same or similar functionality using something better than raw interceptors?

• decode mysql query before returning it to view

  I'm running a query to mysql that returns encrypted data. I'd like, if possible, to decode the results before sending it to the view. It seems like better form to handle the decoding in the controller (or even the model) rather than inside the view. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to do it, though. I was thinking I could iterate through the object, decodode it, and push it to another array that would be sent to the view. Problem with this is I won't know (and need to keep) the indexes of the query. So the query might return something like: [id] => 742 [client_id] => 000105 [last] => dNXcw6mQPaGQ4rXfgIGJMq1pZ1dYAim0 [first] => dDF7VoO37qdtYoYKfp1ena5mjBXXU0K3dDlcq1ssSvCgpOx75y0A== [middle] =>iXy6OWa48kCamViDZFv++K6okIkalC0am3OMPcBwK8sA== [phone] => eRY3zBhAw2H8tKE Any ideas?

  I've built a UserRepository interface to communicate with my LINQ to SQL Data layer, but I'm trying to figure out how to implement validation. • Rails, different routes for production app.

  Well, maybe not just different routes. Here is the issue at hand, we have an app that we want to present the users with a "beta sign-up" form when the app is running in production, but we still want to be able to login, however in development the app should function normally. For example in development the app's root path would be the page that show's all the products (using a store as an example) but in production we want the app to present the user with a beta page that just has a form for leaving an email, but also be able to sign-in for users that have accounts. We don't need any help with authentication, that's all sorted out more just the setup of redirecting users to the beta page in production so they can't explore the site unless they are logged in. We are using Devise so I thought maybe we could put something in our application controller that's like: before_filter :authenticate_user! if ENV['RAILS_ENV'] == 'production' But that doesn't seem like it works.

• Inheritance in kohana

  Hi all, I have recently started to use Kohana and I know inheritance is in infancy stages at the moment. The work around is using a $_has_one annotation on the child class model. In may case i have "page" as the parent of "article". I have something like, protected $_has_one = array('mypage'=>array('model'=>'page', 'foreign_key'=>'id')); In my controller, I have an action which queries the database. In this query I am trying to access fields form the parent of "article" which is the "page". $n->articles=ORM::factory('article')->where('expires','=',0) ->where('articledate','<',date('y-m-d')) ->where('expirydate','>',date('y-m-d')) ->where('mypage->status','=','PUBLISHED') ->order_by('articledate','desc') ->find_all(); The status column resides in the page table and my query is generating an error to the effect of "cannot find status", clearly because it belongs to the parent. Any ideas ?

  Hello, I have a problem acessing a IBOutlet. I have a NIB inside which there is a tableview, a toolbar and an UILabel (encasulated into a view). The controller (that is the file's owner) is defined as : @interface ChoixPeriodeController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate> { IBOutlet UILabel* __periodeInitialeLabel; } @property(nonatomic, retain) UILabel* periodeInitialeLabel; - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode; In the .m file, this function is called by the parent window to init the Label : - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode { NSMutableString* tmpString = [NSMutableString string]; [tmpString appendFormat:bla bla bla;....]; self.periodeInitialeLabel.text = tmpString; } Into this function, I can see that self.periodeInitialeLabel is at nil. I can't see why ? Everything is connected into IB... Do you see what can be the problem ?

  I have a note class that belongs to a user (ie a user can create many notes). clip from my notes controller class NotesController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! respond_to :html, :xml, :json # GET /notes # GET /notes.xml def index @notes = Note.includes(:user).order("created_at DESC") respond_with @notes end When I ask for the index in json results for example /notes.json, it returns the notes but only returns user_id for the user object. I would like it to also include user.username (and would be curious how to have the whole user object embedded). Bonus question: I could not find a way to make the column show as author_id and have it relate back to user. If this is easy to do, how do you do it?

  I have created a polymorphic association around a model called status. Some contacts will have a status associated with it. Many won't. If I try to call a status when one is not there, I get an error. Right now, even if I haven't created a status for the model, it still runs whatever is in the if-end block. • How to update only certain items in a list when using MVC?

  I'm building a GUI that includes a list with quite a lot of items. I allow the user to add/delete/edit those items. Up until now my update method called in the controller implied an entire JList reset (with its obvious performance issues). Now that there are hundreds of items available, updating the entire list is not fezable any longer. Does anyone know of a tutorial or can share an example (I haven't found any to suit my needs so far) in which the JList is updated something like JList.update(startIndex, endIndex);?   I have a dashboard with a series of widgets. Per specification, the widgets need to be buried under a /widgets/ directory. So I have added the following to my routes.php Router::connect('/widget/:controller/:action/*', array()); But I seem to be running into trouble on widgets/links/ and widgets/links/view/1 I am new to CakePHP, but this doesn't seem all that impressive. • Is there a way to query if array field contains a certain value in Doctrine2?

  Starting out with Symfony2 + Doctrine. I have a table with User objects (fos_user), for which my schema contains a roles column of an 'array' type. Doctrine saves fields of this type by serializing them from php 'array' to 'longtext' (in mysql's case). So let's say I have the following users saved into DB: **User1**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM1) **User2**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM2) **User3**: array(ROLE_CUSTOM2) Now in my controller I want to select all users with ROLE_ADMIN set. Is there a way to write a DQL query which would directly return me User1 and User2? Or do I need to fetch all users to have Doctrine to unserialize roles column and then for each of them do in_array('ROLE_ADMIN', $user-getRoles())? I have searched the DQL part of the manual, but so far did not find anything similar to my needs...

I understand very well that everyone starting with that SDK is too exited about getting its hand on it but a few reading would save them hours of debugging and the frustration that come along with the feeling that "We miss something here". • Setting Corner Radius on UIImageView not working

  I'm at a bit of a loss. I've used the layer property of UIView to round the corners of multiple elements in my app. However, this one UIImageView is simply not complying. Not sure what I am missing. The UIImageView (called previewImage) is contained in a Table View Cell. • Timespan not accepting day in MVC3

  I have a MVC3 application in which i want to set a timespan to for example 2 days and 5 hours. when i enter 02:05:00:00 it gives me the following exception: System.OverflowException: SqlDbType.Time overflow. Value '2.05:00:00' is out of range. Must be between 00:00:00.0000000 and 23:59:59.9999999. When i enter 05:00:00 it correctly saves 5 hours into the database. according to MSDN timespan has a property for days. How do i correctly set the days? Model: public class ProductionTimeVM { [Required] public TimeSpan DefaultTime { get; set; } } In my view i just use: @Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.DefaultTime) For my controller: public ActionResult SaveProductionTime(ProductionTimeVM vm) { ProductionTime productionTime = new ProductionTime(); productionTime.Default = vm.DefaultTime; //some more code } Any idea's?

• Routing Error in Chapter 7.1.2 of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial

  I've been working through the tutorial for the past few days, and finally hit a snag in chapter 7. It is in this step where the line in routes.rb: get "users/new" is replaced with resource :users After I do this, I get a routing error when visiting http://localhost:3000/users/1 - No route matches [GET] "/users/1" instead of the other "Unknown Action" error shown here. • Symfony 2 - UrlGenerator::doGenerate is called before listener

  I want to add to the context a parameter, so when login is called I can use it in the route (similar to _locale). I can add this piece of code in HttpUtils.php (as resetLocale), but i don't find it very clean. The reason I need it is the firewall redirection to the login controller, which I would like to have in its route a customized parameter. My problem is that my listener is called after UrlGenerator::doGenerate is called, so I get a MissingMandatoryParametersException. • How do I bind the Overlay Tool for new Ajax elements in Jquery?

• Entity update from ASP.NET MVC page with post to Edit action

  I have a form that posts back to /Edit/ and my action in controller looks like this: // // POST: /Client/Edit [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Edit(Client client) My form includes a subset of Client entity properties and I also include a hidden field that holds an ID of the client. The client entity itself is provided via the GET Edit action. Now I want to do entity update but so far I've only been trying without first loading the entity from the DB. Because the client object that comes in POST Edit has everything it needs. I want to update just those properties on the entity in datastore. So far I've tried with Context.Refresh() and AttachTo() but with no success - I'm getting all sorts of exceptions. I inspected the entity object as it comes from the web form and it looks fine (it does have an ID and entered data) mapped just fine. If I do it with Context.SaveChanges() then it just inserts new row..

• How to handle null {id} on route?

  What if a user hits my site with http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit rather than http://www.mysite.com/Quote/Edit/1000 In other words, they do not specify a value for {id}. If they do not, I want to display a nice "Not Found" page, since they did not give an ID. I currentl handle this by accepting a nullable int as the parameter in the Controller Action and it works fine. However, I'm curious if there a more standard MVC framework way of handling this, rather than the code I presently use (see below). Is a smoother way to handle this, or is this pretty mush the right way to do it?
