  • Notepad++: Adding color highlighting for PHP functions?

    I've recently begun using Notepad++, and have found a part of its styling functionality that confuses me. I'm currently attempting to color all of PHP's defined functions (such as count(), strlen(), etc.). In the Settings-Style Configurator, you cannot add a new style for such a function list. Instead, I have begun editing the stylers.xml and langs.xml. To add the new coloring, in langs.xml, I've modified the php section to the following: <Language name="php" ext="php php3 phtml" commentLine="//" commentStart="/*" commentEnd="*/"> <Keywords name="instre1">[default keywords]</Keywords> <Keywords name="instre2">[my function list]</Keywords> </Language> The [default keywords] and [my function list] are replaced with wordlists. When I restart Notepad++ and go into the Settings-Style Configurator section, under the php language, the FUNCTIONS style exists. I can change the style's color, and can see the entire keyword list under 'Default Keywords'. However, it is not changing the coloring of the words in my code. When I edit the WORD style, which contains stuff like 'if', 'and', and 'true', things change accordingly in my code. Any ideas on how to make this work?

I am not talking about starting a terminal and exporting environment variables within the terminal, because those variables only exist within that one terminal. I want to know how to set an environment variable that will apply to all programs started in my graphical session. In other words, what's the Xorg equivalent of ~/.bash_login?

  • Where to find a list of bad passwords?

    I need to implement a 'stop list' to prevent users selecting common passwords in a new online service. Can anyone point me to such a list online anywhere? Edited: Note that I'm only trying to eliminate the most common passwords, not an exhaustive dictionary. And, of course, this complements a reasonably strong password policy (length, use of non-alpha characters, etc.) Thanks.

    Quicken has a password-protection option where you type in a password and your file is encrypted. How good is this encryption and how does it depend on the length or complexity of my password? A google search reveals a lot of "quicken password recovery" programs, like this one, which make me feel like the password is just for keeping the really dumb criminals away, not the ones with large computers.

  • Adding autocomplete options to auctex C-c C-e?

    When I'm using auctex with emacs to write LaTeX documents, I would like to be able to add a couple more options to the list of environment types that auctex "recognises" and can autocomplete, namely Theorem, Lemma, Proof, itemize* and a couple of others. Which variable to I need to edit? I have played around in customize-apropos LaTeX and auctex, but I haven't found it. (lisp code snippet to add to my .emacs would be preferred, I don't quite understand the syntax yete)

  • Problem with slow hard disk

    We bought some new PCs in my company with the new iCore 7 and 8GB memory and the following hard disk: WESTERN DIGITAL WD8000AARS 800GB CAVIAR GREEN SATA2 The problem we have is that after installing windows XP64 SP2 the write speed of the hard disk is extremely low!. The windows system monitor shows that the Average Disk queue length is always at 100% and a winzip extract of 350mb takes about 8min. Is there any idea on where to start looking for the cause of that? Thanks

Requirements: accessible to normal users accessible to root always loaded, not only for bash (gnome-terminal does not start a bash by default) to work on Ubuntu, Debian and optionally Red Hat great if addition could be easily scripted So far here is the no-list: /etc/profile.d/java.sh - not executed if you start a new console from gnome-terminal /etc/profile - same as above ~/.profile - current user only, also any solution assuming ~ would not be acceptable because home directory could be on NIS, and JAVA_HOME could be different.

    Both less -r (preserve terminal control sequences) and less -S (chop long lines) work well alone. But using them together breaks things. It chops too late and it wrecks the next line. Reducing COLUMNS environment variable is no op: (man less) But if you have a windowing system which supports TIOCGWINSZ or WIOCGETD, the window system's idea of the screen size takes precedence over the LINES and COLUMNS environment variables.     I set JAVA_HOME in windows environment preferences echo %JAVA_HOME% C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_20 but then I try to run ant build and I get Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK. It is currently set to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I think the registry key JAVASOFT is interfering with my environment variable, but I'm not sure how to fix this

  • Does moving a file outside NTFS loose data in alternate data streams?

    I have a lot of files on machine running Windows Server 2008 which I wanted to move to a Fedora machine. How can I keep the attributes stored in, for example, media files (date taken, rating, length, etc) while transfering it to outside the realm of NTFS's Alternate Data Streams. I'm aware that similar metadata exists in other file systems, but what happens when you move these files? And what's the best way to retain them in other file systems?

    I want to have configurate a GIT repo for a website. Multiple users will have a clone of the repo on their local machine and on the end of each day they push their work to the server. I can setup a bare repo, but I want a working dir/non-bare repository. The idea is that the working dir of the repository will the root folder for the website. At the end of each day all changes will be visible directly. But I can't find a way to do this. Initializing the server repo with git init gives the following error when a client is trying to push some files: git push origin master [email protected]'s password: Counting objects: 3, done.   • Why won't my Windows 8 Command line update its path

    I needed to add a new entry to my PATH variable. This is a common activity for me in my job, but I've recently started using Windows 8. I assumed the process would be similar to Windows 7, Vista, XP... Here's my sequence of events: Open System properties (Start- [type "Control Panel"] - Control Panel\System and Security\System - Advanced system settings - Environment Variables) Add the new path to beginning of my USER PATH variable (C:\dev\Java\apache-ant-1.8.4\bin;) Opened a command prompt (Start - [type "command prompt" enter] - [type "path" enter] My new path entry is not available (see attached image and vide). I Duplicated the exact same process on a Windows 7 machine and it worked. EDIT Windows 8 Environment Variables and Command Prompt video EDIT This is definitely not the behavior of Windows 7. Watch this video to see the behavior I expect working in Windows 7. http://youtu.be/95JXY5X0fII EDIT 5/31/2013 So, after much frustration, I wrote a small C# app to test the WM_SETTINGCHANGE event. This code receives the event in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. However, in Windows 8 on my system, I do not get the correct path; but, I do in Windows 7. This could not be reproduced in other Windows 8 systems. C# program running in Windows 8 (you can see the event come through, but the wrong path). There is something about my environment that is precipitating this problem. However, is this a Windows 8 bug?

    When i got MaxRequestLen errors in file upload page, i set MaxRequestLen=31457280 using: <IfModule mod_fcgid.c> MaxRequestLen 31457280 FcgidIOTimeout 90 </IfModule> Now file upload works when i use http url. I have recently configured ssl for my site and when i use https url for same upload page, i get the same error: HTTP request length 131073 (so far) exceeds MaxRequestLen (131072) Is there a different setting for https? (and I lost the original MP3s) I'd like to re-rip the CDs to a higher bitrate, and apply the ID3 tags from the existing rips to the new files. (These are custom tags; they will not be found in online databases) Is there any way to automatically copy ID3 tags by length and track number, or do I need to write one myself?

    I have a site(IIS) that is accessed via a proxy in apache(on an IBM i). This site serves PDFs which has quick web view and if I access a pdf directly from the IIS server the PDFs starts to display immediately but if I go through the proxy I have to wait until the entire pdf downloads before I can view it. In the apache config file I use ProxyPass /path/ http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ <LocationMatch "/path/"> Header set Cache-Control "no-cache" </LocationMatch> I tried adding SetEnv proxy-sendcl to LocationMatch directive this had no effect.
