  • Struts2 Populating Checkbox from Arraylist of Objects

    I'm sure that I'm doing something dumb but I've been going craze over the last couple of days trying to get my checkboxes filled out inside an iterator that goes over an arraylist of object. Here is my object: public class EmailObject { int emailId; String emailAddress; public int getEmailId() { return emailId; } public void setEmailId(int emailId) { this.emailId = emailId; } public String getEmailAddress() { return emailAddress; } public void setEmailAddress(String emailAddress) { this.emailAddress = emailAddress; } } In my action class, I create an arraylist of the above EmailObjects. On my jsp page, I can get checkboxes through a checkboxlist (but this isn't good for me because I want it to be vertical and don't want to mess with the struts styles) <s:checkboxlist name="selectedEmails" list="userEmails" listValue="emailAddress" listKey="emailId" /> I can also iterate over the arraylist userEmails and display the values: <s:iterator value="userEmails" var="thisEmailData"> <s:property value="emailId"/> <s:property value="emailAddress"/> </s:iterator> But I can't get it to display the emailId when iterating over the arraylist userEmails.   • jQuery / jqGrids / Submitting form data troubles...

    Ive been messing with jqgrids alot of the last couple days, and I have nearly everything the way I want it from the display, tabs with different grids, etc. Im wanting to make use of Modal for adding and editing elements on my grid. My problem that Im running into is this. I have my editurl:"editsu.php" set, if that file is renamed, on edit, i get a 404 in the modal.. great! However, with that file in place, nothing at all seems to happen. I even put a die("testing"); line at the top, so it sees the file, it just doesnt do anything with it. My next question after this would be to see if its possible to make it so when you click "add", that it auto inserts a row into the db with a couple variable predtermined and then bring up the modal window, but ill work on the first problem first. thanks!

  • Java Hibernate/C3P0 error: "Could not obtain connection metadata. An attempt by a client to checkout

    I'm trying to get some code I was passed up and running. It appears to use the Hibernate framework. I've gotten past most of the errors tweaking the configuration, but this one has me dead stumped. It's trying to connect to two databases: gameapp and gamelog. Both exist. It seems to have issues connecting to gamelog, but none connecting to gameapp (later in the init, it connects to and loads other DBs just fine). Below, I've pasted the error and exception stack dump. I imaging there's something else in the configs, so I've also included the configuration file for that db.   • NHibernate Conventions

    Introduction It seems that nowadays everyone loves conventions! Not the ones that you go to, but the ones that you use, that is! It just happens that NHibernate also supports conventions, and we’ll see exactly how. Conventions in NHibernate are supported in two ways: Naming of tables and columns when not explicitly indicated in the mappings; Full domain mapping. Naming of Tables and Columns Since always NHibernate has supported the concept of a naming strategy. A naming strategy in NHibernate converts class and property names to table and column names and vice-versa, when a name is not explicitly supplied. In concrete, it must be a realization of the NHibernate.Cfg.INamingStrategy interface, of which NHibernate includes two implementations: DefaultNamingStrategy: the default implementation, where each column and table are mapped to identically named properties and classes, for example, “MyEntity” will translate to “MyEntity”; ImprovedNamingStrategy: underscores (_) are used to separate Pascal-cased fragments, for example, entity “MyEntity” will be mapped to a “my_entity” table. The naming strategy can be defined at configuration level (the Configuration instance) by calling the SetNamingStrategy method: 1: cfg.SetNamingStrategy(ImprovedNamingStrategy.Instance); Both the DefaultNamingStrategy and the ImprovedNamingStrategy classes offer singleton instances in the form of Instance static fields. DefaultNamingStrategy is the one NHibernate uses, if you don’t specify one. Domain Mapping In mapping by code, we have the choice of relying on conventions to do the mapping automatically. This means a class will inspect our classes and decide how they will relate to the database objects. The class that handles conventions is NHibernate.Mapping.ByCode.ConventionModelMapper, a specialization of the base by code mapper, NHibernate.Mapping.ByCode.ModelMapper. The ModelMapper relies on an internal SimpleModelInspector to help it decide what and how to map, but the mapper lets you override its decisions.  You apply code conventions like this: 1: //pick the types that you want to map 2: IEnumerable<Type> types = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetExportedTypes(); 3:  4: //conventions based mapper 5: ConventionModelMapper mapper = new ConventionModelMapper(); 6:  7: HbmMapping mapping = mapper.CompileMappingFor(types); 8:  9: //the one and only configuration instance 10: Configuration cfg = ...; 11: cfg.AddMapping(mapping); This is a very simple example, it lacks, at least, the id generation strategy, which you can add by adding an event handler like this: 1: mapper.BeforeMapClass += (IModelInspector modelInspector, Type type, IClassAttributesMapper classCustomizer) => 2: { 3: classCustomizer.Id(x => 4: { 5: //set the hilo generator 6: x.Generator(Generators.HighLow); 7: }); 8: }; The mapper will fire events like this whenever it needs to get information about what to do. And basically this is all it takes to automatically map your domain! It will correctly configure many-to-one and one-to-many relations, choosing bags or sets depending on your collections, will get the table and column names from the naming strategy we saw earlier and will apply the usual defaults to all properties, such as laziness and fetch mode. However, there is at least one thing missing: many-to-many relations. The conventional mapper doesn’t know how to find and configure them, which is a pity, but, alas, not difficult to overcome. To start, for my projects, I have this rule: each entity exposes a public property of type ISet<T> where T is, of course, the type of the other endpoint entity.   • Adding and accessing custom sections in your C# App.config

    So I recently thought I’d try using the app.config file to specify some data for my application (such as URLs) rather than hard-coding it into my app, which would require a recompile and redeploy of my app if one of our URLs changed.  By using the app.config it allows a user to just open up the .config file that sits beside their .exe file and edit the URLs right there and then re-run the app; no recompiling, no redeployment necessary. I spent a good few hours fighting with the app.config and looking at examples on Google before I was able to get things to work properly.  Most of the examples I found showed you how to pull a value from the app.config if you knew the specific key of the element you wanted to retrieve, but it took me a while to find a way to simply loop through all elements in a section, so I thought I would share my solutions here.   Simple and Easy The easiest way to use the app.config is to use the built-in types, such as NameValueSectionHandler.  For example, if we just wanted to add a list of database server urls to use in my app, we could do this in the app.config file like so: 1: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> 2: <configuration> 3: <configSections> 4: <section name="ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler" /> 5: </configSections> 6: <startup> 7: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5" /> 8: </startup> 9: <ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers> 10: <add key="localhost" value="localhost" /> 11: <add key="Dev" value="Dev.MyDomain.local" /> 12: <add key="Test" value="Test.MyDomain.local" /> 13: <add key="Live" value="Prod.MyDomain.com" /> 14: </ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers> 15: </configuration>   And then you can access these values in code like so: 1: string devUrl = string.Empty; 2: var connectionManagerDatabaseServers = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers") as NameValueCollection; 3: if (connectionManagerDatabaseServers != null) 4: { 5: devUrl = connectionManagerDatabaseServers["Dev"].ToString(); 6: }   Sometimes though you don’t know what the keys are going to be and you just want to grab all of the values in that ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers section.  In that case you can get them all like this: 1: // Grab the Environments listed in the App.config and add them to our list. 2: var connectionManagerDatabaseServers = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers") as NameValueCollection; 3: if (connectionManagerDatabaseServers != null) 4: { 5: foreach (var serverKey in connectionManagerDatabaseServers.AllKeys) 6: { 7: string serverValue = connectionManagerDatabaseServers.GetValues(serverKey).FirstOrDefault(); 8: AddDatabaseServer(serverValue); 9: } 10: }   And here we just assume that the AddDatabaseServer() function adds the given string to some list of strings.  So this works great, but what about when we want to bring in more values than just a single string (or technically you could use this to bring in 2 strings, where the “key” could be the other string you want to store; for example, we could have stored the value of the Key as the user-friendly name of the url).   More Advanced (and more complicated) So if you want to bring in more information than a string or two per object in the section, then you can no longer simply use the built-in System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler type provided for us.  Instead you have to build your own types.  Here let’s assume that we again want to configure a set of addresses (i.e. urls), but we want to specify some extra info with them, such as the user-friendly name, if they require SSL or not, and a list of security groups that are allowed to save changes made to these endpoints. The last class defined is the actual meat of our elements.  It inherits from ConfigurationElement and specifies the properties of the element (which can then be set in the xml of the App.config).  The “ConfigurationProperty” attribute on each of the properties tells what we expect the name of the property to correspond to in each element in the app.config, as well as some additional information such as if that property is required and what it’s default value should be.     I'm a beginner to intermediate programmer and I've learned some java and C#. I want to start thinking about making some simple programs that I can release to the world. Just some basic stuff like calendar software that will probably be free. Users want the install process to be quick and easy. To install a java program, I have to tell them to have java installed. To install a C# program, I have to tell them to have .NET installed. I'm worried this might put off some potential users who just want to double click an exe file, choose a directory and be pretty much done. So, I guess this is an either/or two part question: 1) Is there a programming language that makes it easier to set up an installer without requiring users to have other stuff installed? or: 2) Is there some way to set up an installer that checks the system to see if it has java/.NET/whatever, and then includes java/.Net/whatever in the installation if it's not already there?

    I went to http://www.asp.net/mvc/ to try to install ASP.NET MVC. I didn't know, but MVC is now at version 2. There's a nifty thing called the Microsoft "Web Platform Installer" (WPI) which basically is a small installer-driver tool that presents a menu of things I might want to install, to do web things on Windows. On the menu are things like ASPNET MVC2, but also Drupal, PHP, Joomla, and a bunch of other things. From http://www.asp.net/mvc/, when I click on the link that says "Install MVC", it resolves to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=185037, which then pops up the WPI. But Then! I get an error dialog that reads "Installing ASPNET MVC2 requires VS2008 SP1". But I know that I have VS2008 SP1. What gives?

  • Can I install WhizzyTeX for Emacs on a Mac (is Mac OS X a unix environment)?

    I think my question is pretty stupid, but here it goes: I am using Aquamacs, and I want to install the WhizzyTeX mode. The website for WhizzyTeX says that "it is designed for Unix platforms". I read that Mac OS X is unix certified, but does that mean I can install WhizzyTeX on my mac? If yes, can I install and use it with Aquamacs or do I have to use the Emacs running from the terminal? PS: I don't know whether this question should be posted here or on SuperUser, but as Emacs users seem to hang out here more often, this is the place I chose. EDIT: There are some websites saying I can use WhizzyTeX with Carbon Emacs on mac os x, but some places say I cannot (see for example this pdf document, page 27, which says that "* whizzytex: http://cristal.inria.fr/whizzytex/ mode in latex with ocaml good fo linux, should also work in cygwin, doe not work on osx"). So I am really confused...

    Background: I am using Ubuntu The newer python version is not in the apt-get repository (or synaptic) I plan on keeping the old version as the default python when you call "python" from the command line I plan on calling the new python using pythonX.X (X.X is the new version). Given the background, how do you install a newer version of python and keep the older python version? I have downloaded from python.org the "install from source" *.tgz package. The readme is pretty simple and says "execute three commands: ./configure; make; make test; sudo make install;" If I do the above commands, will the installation overwrite the old version of python I have (I definitely need the old version)?

By the way, if I am able to do the described step, I will need to do the following: sudo python setup.py install And I have no system-administrator-rights. Do I still have a chance to install MySQLdb? Thank you.

  • Autoconf macros for Apache and conf.d install process?

    I have a package that is using the autotools to build and install. Part of the package is a website that can be run on the local machine. So in the package there is a .conf file that is meant to be either copied or linked to the /etc/apache2/conf.d directory. What's the standard way that packages would do this? If possible, I'd like for the user not to have an extra step to make the website work. I'd like to have them install the package and then be able to browse to http://localhost/newpackage to get up and running. Also, is there a way that autoconf knows about the apache install or a standard way through then environment some how? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Steve

    I'm using Windows Home Server and have already managed to install SVN on it to allow me to use Tortoise SVN on client PC's sharing a repository on the server via SVN's service and port. I'd now like to install a bug tracker hosted on this server. I'm not fussy about which one but I saw Mantis - which is a PHP application and looks ok for my purpose. This is where I get weak on such stuff - what steps do I need to do to install and configure PHP (and presumably MySql to get mantis working? It is an http application. As an alternate answer, I'd be happy to use another - more easily installed - bug tracker that has a server service and a port of its own. I'll appreciate any comments.

    I want to develop a common python package, I got other packages depends on it. For example: packageA/ packageB/ packageC/ commonPackage/ packageA, packageB and packageC can all be executed directly, but they are all depend on commonPackage. I want to install the commonPackage into lib/site-packages, but I don't want it copys the source code. Instead, I want it creates a commonPackage.pth in lib/site-packages with the path of where the commonPackage at. So that when I modify commonPackage or update it from SVN, I don't need to install it again. Here comes the problem, how can I write the setup.py or use the options of python setup.py install so that it would do what I want?
