  • PHP turn off errors - in one file only

    Hi! I am well aware about error_reporting(0); & ini_set('display_errors', "Off"); to make error messages go away. What would be an appropriate way to do this - for a specific file or part of code only? Surpressing errors with @'s seems like a bad idea since it apparently slows the code down... Thanks!

  • Super fast getimagesize in php

    Hi all, im trying to get image size(DIMENSIONS) of hundreds of remote images and getimagesize is way too slow. ive done some reading and found out the quickest way would be to use get_file_contents to read a certain aount of bytes from the images and examining the size within the binary data. Anyone attempted this before? How would i examine different formats. Seen any library for this? please let me know

  • Simple PHP query question: LIKE

    When I replace $ordering = "apples, bananas, cranberries, grapes"; with $ordering = "apples, bananas, grapes"; I no longer want cranberries to be returned by my query, which I've written out like this: $query = "SELECT * from dbname where FruitName LIKE '$ordering'"; Of Course this doesn't work, because I used LIKE wrong. I've read through various manuals that describe how to use LIKE and it doesn't quite make sense to me. If I change the end of the db to "LIKE "apples"" that works for limiting it to just apples. Do I have to explode the ordering on the ", " or is there a way to do this in the query?

    Hi, I am using a class which returns me the value of a particular row and cell of an excel spreadsheet. To build up an array of one column I am counting the rows and then looping through that number with a for() loop and then using the $array[] = $value to set the incrementing array object's value. This works great if none of the values in a cell are 0. The class returns me a number 0 so it's nothing to do with the class, I think it's the way I am looping through the rows and then assigning them to the array... I want to carry through the 0 value because I am creating graphs with the data afterwards, here is the code I have. // Get Rainfall $rainfall = array(); for($i=1;$i<=$count;$i++) { if($data->val($i,2) != 'Rainfall') // Check if not the column title { $rainfall[] = $data->val($i,2); } } For your info $data is the excel spreadsheet object and the method $data->val(row,col) is what returns me the value.     Hi guys, I've got a string that comes from a POST form where I want to replace all spaced with some other character. Here's that I did: $cdata = str_replace(" ","#",$cdata); And I got this. --- Contact-ID#=#148 [10274da8]#Sinhronizacija#=#private [1000137d]#Uzvards#=#Zom [1000137c]#Vards#=#Tana [1000130e]#Talrunis#=#3333 [1000130e]#Mobilais#=#5555 As you can see, spaced before "[10..." are still there. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    I am parsing pages using Simple DOM parser. It is neat, but I would like to get the applied css style for each element. Not only the inline styles, but every style it applies to that element, being it inline, in-page or external. Is there a class that does that? If not, how would you do it? I do not really care about overriding styles, cascade, or browser specific styles. Having all the directly applied styles would suffice.

    Hello, When sending data from a form to a second page, the value of the session is always with the name "Array" insteed of the expected number. The data should get displayed in a table, but insteed of example 1, 2, 3 , 4 i get : Array, Array, Array. (A 2-Dimensional Table is used) Is the following code below a proper way to "call" upon the stored values on the 2nd page from the array ? $test1 = $_SESSION["table"][0]; $test2 = $_SESSION["table"][1]; $test3 = $_SESSION["table"][2]; $test4 = $_SESSION["table"][3]; $test5 = $_SESSION["table"][4]; What exactly is this, and how can i fix this?     I'm writing a script that will allow a user to input a string that is a math statement, to then be evaluated. I however have hit a roadblock. I cannot figure out how, using preg_match, to dissallow statements that have variables in them. Using this, $calc = create_function("", "return (" . $string . ");" ); $calc();, allows users to input a string that will be evaluated, but it crashes whenever something like echo 'foo'; is put in place of the variable $string.

  • Best way to utilise an include file which just includes an array in PHP

    Kohana's config files look like this.. here is an example of a database config file (simplified) return array( 'dbhost' => 'localhost', 'user' => 'Tom_Jones' ); I've also got a CMS which wants the connection details. Whilst the CMS uses a different user (with more rights), I'd like to know the best way to include this file and get the data out of it (so as to not repeat myself for hostname and dbname). I haven't thought up of any elegant solutions yet and have not yet dug around Kohana to see how it does it. It's late Friday here so it's probably really obvious to everyone except me. UPDATE My apologies, I forgot to include that this is using Kohana 3!
