    I find many sleeping process my SQL Server database and looks like one of those sleeping SPIDs is blocking another process, and that process is getting suspended too...     I have a SQL query in my ASP.net web app that looks like this: SELECT * FROM [Records] WHERE ([title] LIKE '%' + @title + '%') @title, of course, is the value of a text box on the page. My question is, why, when the text box is empty, does this return nothing? And how can I make it return everything, like logic tells me it ought to?

So, here we get two rows. From that, I need the row with the lowest time stamp for that day(i.e 18/5/2010, 3 pm - 60)

    As I know, from the relational database theory, a select statement without an order by clause should be considered has not particular order. But actually in SQL Server and Oracle (I've tested on those 2 platforms), if I query from a table without an order by clause multiple times, I always get the results in the same order. Does this behavior can be relied on? Anyone can help to explain a little? Thanks!

  • How can I Duplicate a MSSQL Symmetric Key?

    We have a server with a database that has a symmetric key (Database - Security - Symmetric Key). We have a backup duplicate databases that we are using as a test databases, but we don't have this key in there. How can I duplicate this symmetric key (or make a new one exactly like the old) and put it in the existing databases? It has to have the same value and key-name as the other one. This is on MS SQL Server (edit) 2008 .

  • Why is TransactionScope using a distributed transaction when I am only using LinqToSql and Ado.Net

    We are having problems on one machine, with the error message: "MSDTC on server XXX is unavailable." The code is using a TransactionScope to wrap some LingToSql database code; there is also some raw Ado.net inside of the transaction. As only a single sql database (2005) is being accessed, why is a distributed transaction being used at all? (I don’t wish to know how to enable MSDTC, as the code needs to work on the server with their current setup)

    Hi everybody, Here it's my problem I've a list of the following measure : src1 dst2 24th december 2009 src1 dst3 22th december 2009 src1 dst2 18th december 2009 I would like to have just the latest measures with a sql request - 2 first lines in my case because the pairs(src and dst) aren't the same. I try to use DISTINCT but I have just the 2 first columns and I will all columns. I try too GROUP BY but I hadn't success. Anyone can help me ? Thx Narglix
