  • Hide overflow in Silverlight TextBox

    I have a Silverlight TextBox control that is inside of a Grid column with the width set to 'Auto', so the TexBox's width expands/contracts with the browser window is resized. Unfortunately, when the number of characters entered into the textbox exceeds the textbox's width, the textbox grows to accommodate it. Are there any properties that can be applied to the textbox that will force it to not expand with the number of characters inside of it? Thanks.

  • WPF -- Event Threading, GUI updating question

    I'm trying to send two events to the main window so that I can show some kind of animation that will let the user know that I'm updating the data. This is an ObservableCollection object so the OnPropertyChanged is immediately picked up by the bindings on the main window. The sleep is only in there so that the user can see the animation. However, the first OnPropetyChanged is never seen. I'm assuming this is because we're in a single thread here and the timer_Tick has to finish before the GUI updates. Any suggetions? In VB6 land we would use a DoEvents or a Form.Refresh.     I have refactored some UIView sub-classes into a static library. However, when using Interface Builder to create view components for a project that uses the static library I find that it is unaware of the library classes. What do I need to do to make the class interfaces visible to Interface Builder? Update: The correct answer refers to dragging the headers into the 'XIB browser'.   • Some questions about writing on ASP.NET response stream

    Hi, I'm making tests with ASP.NET HttpHandler for download a file writting directly on the response stream, and I'm not pretty sure about the way I'm doing it. My questions are: When I open the url with the browser, appears the "Save File" dialog... but it seems like the server has started already to push data into the stream before I click "Save", is that normal? If I remove the line"response.Flush()", when I open the url with the browser, ... I see how the web server is pushing data but the "Save File" dialog doesn't come up, (or at least not in a reasonable time fashion) why? When I open the url with a WebRequest object, I see that the HttpResponse.ContentLength is "-1", although I can read the stream and get the file. What is the meaning of -1? When is HttpResponse.ContentLength going to show the length of the response? For example, I have a method that retrieves a big xml compresed with deflate as a binary stream, but in that case... when I access it with a WebRequest, in the HttpResponse I can actually see the ContentLength with the length of the stream, why? What is the optimal length for the Byte[] array that I use as buffer for optimal performance in a web server? I've read that is between 4K and 8K... but which factors should I consider to make the correct decision. Does this method bloat the IIS or client memory usage? or is it actually buffering the transference correctly? Sorry for so many questions, I'm pretty new in web development :P Cheers.

  • Visual Studio 2010 HTML Designer Renders Unlike IE8?

    My question is: since Visual Studio 2010 was only just released, why does it not render pages in the same way as the latest Microsoft web browser, IE8? Is there a bunch of render options I should be setting? I thought Expression Web was supposed to help with its fancy Super Preview but that app doesn't even open VS solutions.   • How do continuously update data to an asp page?

    Hi, I have an asp page based on a very simple database. It references a single table of probably 30 records and maybe 12 data fields and everything works great as I am only uploading a new database every week or so. I have a special circumstance where I would like upload new data to the database and display automatically on the page every 20 to 30 seconds without the user having to refresh their screen. I would expect up to 1000 concurrent users accessing the data. I have been manually uploading the database via ftp, which will obviously not work on this timeline and would also run the risk of error pages as the database is being replaced. So, can anyone point me the right direction to setup this scenario? Other details that might be helpful: The database is an Access database (but I could change to another format if needed) Running on Windows platform hosted by an ISP, not my own server Thanks in advance for any help on this!   • Trace redirect loop

    I have a large PHP application. After I changed some settings I get a redirection loop (i.e. the browser is redirected to the same page over and over again). The problem is that I don't know which command (which line in which PHP file) in this application causes the redirect. Is there a way to trace calls to the header() function?     mechanize's Browser class is great and it's follow_link() function is great too. But what to do with this kind of links: <a href="http://example.com"><img src="…"></a> Is there any way to follow such links? The text attribute of this type of links is simply '[IMG]', so AFAIK, there is no way to differentiate such links. Any help would be appreciated.

I was hoping to be able to set a border or color on the area tags so I could check everything was being generated with the right coords, but a little research shows this is not possible.     Hi, There are a number of questions about this and a number of possible causes and thus far ive tried them all with no success. situation: i have an app that needs a db to work, onstartup it does a SmoApplication.EnumAvailableSqlServers(false) to get all the instances on the network, shows the user a dropdown, they pick one and i go connect to my db on that server. all good problem: this works on my machine, the guys next to me and others. HOWEVER it doesnt work on one of the tech guys machines (and potentially others). we are all on the same network domain, physically connected (no wireless), all logged on with network user names, all running the same sql express 2005 sp3, though im using win7 the other guys are running xppro. MSSMS on all machines can see all the instances when you select "Browse for more". yet on this one tech guys machine it lists his local instance (since its hardcoded to) and all the network servers, but has no instances names? i.e. .sqlexpress server1 server2 server3 server4 but on my machine and others we get: .sqlexpress server1/sqlexpress server2/sqlexpress server3/sqlexpress server4/sqlexpress the code im using: ' .... some code ' this populates my datatable dtServers = SmoApplication.EnumAvailableSqlServers(False) '.... some code '.... then later i ShowServers(...) Notes: ive tried firewall 1433, 1434 i can connect using a udl with full SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME the browser service is running locally and on the remote machine ive tried stopping and restarting both the browser service on the local and remote machine. Ideas?

  • Runing directx samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

    Hi, I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on m Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync(I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device and running it works) When I try to run the application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set... Thank you

  • SVN checkout/export too long to download

    Hi, My checkout/export session in svn is kinda weird. The file is just a 300KB in size but the downloading keeps going and it reaches a megabytes in size. The file is in RPM format. I don't know if the file is corrupt or the SVN has a bug. I tried to download the file using web browser and seems the downloading works fine. What probably is the main problem is here?

  • Using SimpleModal with jstestdriver?

    Hello, I'm using simpleModal to display a dialog, and I want to be able to tell if it has been displayed or not using jstestdriver. In my browser when I display the dialog it sets the className to "simplemodal-data" on the id of the content I'm displaying, but when I do the same thing in jstestdriver it's like the .modal() function doesn't even do anything.
