I want to programatically rename a file and it could be open. It's a log file. When I was testing my code the rename part didn't work because the log file TestPro.log was open by the TAF (Test Automation Framework).
When TestPro is running and I try to delete the file I get the error "Cannot delete because is being used by another person or program."
Is there any way how to rename a file (programatically) that is open the way the log file was?
I have a key based login for a server. The IP and DNS of the server can change, because it is hosted on Amazon.
Is there a way to configure the ssh client config to use the specific key file for this server only, when the fingerprint of the server matches?
In other words: Normaly servers are matched by IP or DNS in the ssh client config. I want to do this by fingerprint, becaus IP and DNS can change.
I can not remove a trial version of MS Expression Blend 3 from my pc. I am always getting the same error: "Error writing to C:\Config.msi\6e6288.rbf." The name of the file varies. On the error message window there are two buttons: "Retry" and "Cancel", but clicking on any of them gives the same result - uninstall is cancelled and everything is rolling back.
I tried to change access permissions to that folder in many ways, but result all the same.
I recently downloaded a piece of software that came in a .ZIP archive, but the .EXE software inside of the archive had a password on it. The website that I would have gotten the password from closed a while ago.
Because the executable is password protected it cannot be extracted.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, and I use winrar for my archives.
So, I guess my question is is it possible to crack a password for a file within an archive without extracting it?
I am using the follwing to auto login and then run file containng a command.
C:\path\to\putty.exe -load "[Sessionname]" -l [user] -pw [password] -m C:\path\to\commands.txt
Commands.txt contains the following command
ps -elf|grep 'sometext'
but when I try to do so a new window for putty comes and exits instantly after login. I cannot see the output of command in commands.txt
What is the problem;. Is there error in my approach or I need some more command to make the putty window pause for sometime before exiting.
In one of our offices we have a Dell PowerVault 745N NAS device which acts as the main file server. Its running 32bit Windows 2003 Storage Server SP2 with 3GB RAM. The server holds around 60 users HOME folders, which are mapped via AD.
The office clients are a mix of XP SP3, Vista and Windows 7. Occasionally the server will completely hang when transferring large files. When the hang happens the console becomes unresponsive with only the mouse active and blank wallpaper. Sometimes stopping the copy frees the server, sometimes not.
The hanging can last around 20 minutes. During this time other servers also become unresponsive with blank wallpaper at the console. If you do manage to get onto another server the taskbar and run commands are unresponsive.
This also transcends to the client computers sometimes with explorer crashing. I'm guessing this is due to the HOME folder mapping.
Eventually the NAS server with free up and everything will be back to normal.
The server is configured as follows:
PERC 4/DC
DATA 2 - 12 SCSI HDD - RAID5
SHADOWCOPY 2 SCSI HDD - RAID1
CERC SATA
DATA 11 4 SATA HDD - RAID5
OS 4 SATA HDD - RAID5
All the drivers and firmware is up to date. I've been through all the diagnostics with Dell and the hardware has come up clean including full HDD tests on the arrays. The server has NOD32 installed as the AV, but the hanging happens when it is uninstalled.
There are no errors in the event log when this happens and we don't have any errors logged on any of our ProCurve switches. DNS is fine on the domain and AD from what I can tell is running happily.
There are no DFS or NFS shares setup either. All the shares are standard Windows.
I've unchecked the allow the computer to turn off this device to save power box under Power Management on the NIC.
"Set Link Speed and Duplex to Auto-negotiate 1000
" Increased Receive Descriptors buffer from 256 to 352 (reserves more CPU resource for handling data)
I've run network traces using network monitor and have found the following:
417 8.078125 {SMB:192, NbtSS:25, TCP:24, IPv4:23} 192.168.2.244 192.168.5.35 SMB SMB:R; Nt Create Andx - NT Status: System - Error, Code = (52) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND
I've tried different cabling; NICs and switch ports all with the same result. Transferring files from other servers on the domain is fine. All I haven't done is run CHKDSK on the drives to look for any file system errors.
On the Vista clients I have also run netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled with no result.
Could it be that the server has a faulty drive or that the I/O is too much for it to handle?
Any ideas why would the hang cause issues with the other servers on the LAN?
Many Thanks.

I commented it out, and it is working fine but where can I get that file?
I want to split a very large audio file at certain points. At certain points a radio announcer comes on and says something like "deux radio" and it always sounds exactly the same (it's a recorded clip). So how can I find that bit of repeated audio through out the entire mp3? It would be nice if I could split at that point, but even if it spits out the times, I can split it with another program.
I'm using the EXPORT feature in Hyper-V to move a large Virtual Machine (VM) over a 1GB network from a Windows 2008 to a Windows 2008 R2 box (200GB) and its so intense that I get the following icon on my destination Hyper-V manager:
Is this expected? Is there another way to get large file across the network and minimize this intense I/O effect? Anyones else ever seen that Do Not Enter sign? The other VMs are functional but slow, but I'm guessing that is expected.
I need to render SVG files to other file formats (.png, for example.) What's a good application for performing that render or conversion?
Specifically, I need an application that runs on Windows.
I'd welcome suggestions for other platforms, as well.
Is there a simple way to export the current selected layer as a png/jpg file in Gimp 2.8.4 ?
I did some searching in google, and the export should do it in gimp 2.6 if the layer is the only visible layer, but I can't get that to work for gimp 2.8
The way I currently do it now is that I select the content, and cut/paste it to a new image, then export the image and close it, but a simple export selected layer would be much more easy to use.
I am in the process of working on Umbraco and when I go throuogh the process of downloading it from Codeplex via TortoiseSVN, I get the following error message.
C:\Projects\Umbraco\branches\rb403\umbraco\umbraco.webservices\Properties
Can't move
'C:\Projects\Umbraco\branches\rb403\umbraco\umbraco.webservices\Properties\.svn\tmp\entries'
to

Has anyone seen this before and or know of a workaround? to download everything and sync?
Our internal website links to Excel files on a network-mapped drive. The links specify the filename and worksheet to open, in the following format (path and link information omitted):
ExcelFileName#'SheetName'!$A$1
This works fine with Excel 2003, but we're moving to Excel 2007, which won't even open the file if that extra information is present.
I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on whether this feature has been removed (or the syntax changed) in 2007. Any help will be highly appreciated!

When serving/sending HTML files to a users browser, where can I reconfigure this size limit?
I want to send an extremely large html files to users via apache and nginx.
Files are being truncated in apache/nginx, what setting determines the file size?
I received a out of memory error
SQL Error: 0, SQLState: 53200
from postgres while trying to upload a 10MB file into a single row with a column of blob-type bytea.
Which configuration parameters should be changed to allow inserts of this size, or should this work out of the box without modifications?
Is there an option like in informix-db to create so called blob-spaces?
I followed the steps here to set up Sharepoint integration with reporting services (SSRS) using native mode. (i.e., get a report explorer and viewer web parts)
However after adding the cabinet file e.g.,
STSADM.EXE -o addwppack -filename "C:\ Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Reporting Services\SharePoint\RSWebParts.cab" -globalinstall
I still don't see report explorer in the web parts list. I'm very stuck and confused :-(
I've mapped my domain users to a remote share, and I'm trying to get rid of the security warning that appears whenever a file is run from the remote share.
I've tried adding the FQDN to the intranet list with no prevail and I'm starting to go crazy. I've also turned off IE Enhanced Security Configuration for both Admins and Users.
The group policies are being applied, and I can see the FQDN in the intranet list in internet options.

I have an FTP connection active through the Map Network Drive option in Windows 7 64-bit.
When navigating the remote directory, I see no way to edit files. Windows is completely ignoring file-type associations and "opens" everything with my default browser.
Is there any way that I can simply edit these files?
I'm open to suggestions of other software as well, but from what I can see, NetDrive doesn't work with 64-bit.
I very often use subtitles on my mkv player to watch movies. I have frequently observed that there is sometime a lag between the subtitles and the actual video. Even after setting the subtitle offset one would have to go on increasing it as the movie proceeds. This is something i find extremely annoying and would like to know if there is any way when one can check if a subtitle file is the ideal one for a given video.
I just tried http://www.filedropper.com/ with a 400 Mb file. It succeeded to upload but in the end didn't redirect to the link :(
So any other service like this that works better (please avoid giving me sites with tons of porn ads :))
I have a scheduled backup that backs up the shared files and system state. It is set to run as "normal" mode. However, when it runs it only makes a 2K size file when it should be like 60GB.What rookie mistake am I making?
Is there any single application that convert all the following video file formats (3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, gif, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, qt, wmv, xvid) to Flv?
