For some reason file copies are taking too long to/from my Dell Inspiron 530. It is possible that the performance deteriorated after upgrading to Windows 7.
Working on Vista & Window 7, I use Winamp 5.57 for listening to mp3 and VLC player for watching movies. I made those two as my default players for corresponding media respectively. But when I launch winamp for playing mp3, some of the video files( like .flv, etc.,) automatically get changed the file opening mode to winamp player. This happens every time even if I set it back to 'default program'. Can someone please help me out.
I have a ZIP file hosted via Apache with Akamai as CDN, the problem is when trying to download it with IE (and just IE) it is damaged and I'm unable to open it.
Since the problem occurs in other computers in different locations I've discarded network settings (firewall, proxy, etc).
I don't even know where start to look? What would be a possible cause for this to happen?
UPDATE
I'm trying to solve the problem in the server (or CDN), I've verified it's not a client error
I recently downloaded a piece of software that came in a .ZIP archive, but the .EXE software inside of the archive had a password on it. The website that I would have gotten the password from closed a while ago.
Because the executable is password protected it cannot be extracted.
I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, and I use winrar for my archives.
So, I guess my question is is it possible to crack a password for a file within an archive without extracting it?
Our internal website links to Excel files on a network-mapped drive. The links specify the filename and worksheet to open, in the following format (path and link information omitted):
ExcelFileName#'SheetName'!$A$1
This works fine with Excel 2003, but we're moving to Excel 2007, which won't even open the file if that extra information is present.
I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on whether this feature has been removed (or the syntax changed) in 2007. Any help will be highly appreciated!
I have a task to write a bash script showing permissions to biggest and smallest file in catalog. How I could obtain that ?
I've tried ls -s but it shows me all files sorted by the size.

I've looked into mobile 3G, but the download limits seem to be very low; the best I've seen is 10GB (from Orange). Ideally, I could go for something like ADSL, but the problem is that I'd need BT land-line, and isn't the minimum contract 12 months? Are there any other options I haven't considered? Please answer specific to the UK (United Kingdom).
I've mapped my domain users to a remote share, and I'm trying to get rid of the security warning that appears whenever a file is run from the remote share.
I've tried adding the FQDN to the intranet list with no prevail and I'm starting to go crazy. I've also turned off IE Enhanced Security Configuration for both Admins and Users.
The group policies are being applied, and I can see the FQDN in the intranet list in internet options.

I'm trying to create a very simple Windows-XP batch file:
Program1.exe
Sleep 3
Program2.exe
Sleep 5
Program3.exe
Sleep 11
Of course, I don't want to have to exit each program, before the next 1 starts.
The default for batch-files seems to be "stop until the previous program exists".
How do I get this script to run as expected?
Edit: The 3 executables listed above are more like "notepad" type programs. They open and run and don't just "open, run, close".
I watched some YouTube videos in the Chrome browser hours ago, but now they have been deleted by YouTube... Is there a folder on my computer where recently watched videos would be stored locally?
I want to find and save the videos I had watched earlier but that are now unavailable on YouTube. Is there any way to do this?
System: Windows 7. Internet Explorer 8. Chrome is umm...17-something.
I'm trying to add a linked server to an Excel 2010 file from SQL Server 2012. Every reference I've found online for doing this is using older versions of SQL Server, and the driver that they tell you to use 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', is not present in 2012 from what I can tell.
Can anyone tell me which provider I need to use and what the product name, data source, and provider string should be?
For reference, this is the screen I'm looking at:

To disable SSL verification, run with HEROKU_SSL_VERIFY=disable
By Googling I got few solution. One of them is added HEROKU_SSL_VERIFY=disable to .bashrc. Unfortunately, I am not able to edit that file, gives an error of

!wq is used in place of :wq, but no response.
Please suggest me to resolve this issue... Thanks
I open a command prompt window in XP. There I run a command line program (foo.exe) and I want to capture stdout in a file. So I run it like this:
foo fooResult.txt
However, at the same time I would like stdout to still be fed to the screen of the command prompt window. What is the syntax for that?
I have a wps file (Microsoft Works), but no Microsoft Works, and no Microsoft Office. Ultimately, I want to get a PDF but happy to convert to an intermediate format if I can. Preferably on OS X if possible, but would use a Windows solution if there is one.
Is there a converter tool I can use for this? Thanks.
I have installed web application behind IIS which access the files/directory located on the another machine.
Now while developing the application using the Visual Studio 2008 then Developer Web Server it provides when build the site was able to access the location. However when the site is deployed on the IIS its saying Unable to access the file because of insufficient permissions.
Can some one please help regarding what could be the issue ? any idea or pointers could be helpful.

Is there a simple way to export the current selected layer as a png/jpg file in Gimp 2.8.4 ?
I did some searching in google, and the export should do it in gimp 2.6 if the layer is the only visible layer, but I can't get that to work for gimp 2.8
The way I currently do it now is that I select the content, and cut/paste it to a new image, then export the image and close it, but a simple export selected layer would be much more easy to use.
I have a large text file with a size of more than 30 megabytes. I want to remove all the lines which don't match some specific criteria, e.g. lines that don't have the string 'START'. What's the easiest way to do it?
Thanks.
