  • Storing Requested URL in Global.asax without Session State in ASP.NET

    - by Mark Richman
I have a complex URL rewriting scheme which breaks the built in Forms Authentication ReturnUrl mechanism. I would like to grab the requested URL for later redirection away from my login.aspx. I can get this URL in Application_BeginRequest via HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath. However, Session state is not available in Application_BeginRequest. How can I store this URL prior to ASP.NET redirecting me to login.aspx?

  • SET game odds simulation (MATLAB)

    - by yuk
Here is an interesting problem for your weekend. :) I recently find the great card came - SET. Briefly, there are 81 cards with the four features: symbol (oval, squiggle or diamond), color (red, purple or green), number (one, two or three) or shading (solid, striped or open). The task is to find (from selected 12 cards) a SET of 3 cards, in which each of the four features is either all the same on each card or all different on each card (no 2+1 combination). In my free time I've decided to code it in MATLAB to find a solution and to estimate odds of having a set in randomly selected cards. Here is the code: %% initialization K = 12; % cards to draw NF = 4; % number of features (usually 3 or 4) setallcards = unique(nchoosek(repmat(1:3,1,NF),NF),'rows'); % all cards: rows - cards, columns - features setallcomb = nchoosek(1:K,3); % index of all combinations of K cards by 3 %% test tic NIter=1e2; % number of test iterations setexists = 0; % test results holder % C = progress('init'); % if you have progress function from FileExchange for d = 1:NIter % C = progress(C,d/NIter); % cards for current test setdrawncardidx = randi(size(setallcards,1),K,1); setdrawncards = setallcards(setdrawncardidx,:); % find all sets in current test iteration for setcombidx = 1:size(setallcomb,1) setcomb = setdrawncards(setallcomb(setcombidx,:),:); if all(arrayfun(@(x) numel(unique(setcomb(:,x))), 1:NF)~=2) % test one combination setexists = setexists + 1; break % to find only the first set end end end fprintf('Set:NoSet = %g:%g = %g:1\n', setexists, NIter-setexists, setexists/(NIter-setexists)) toc 100-1000 iterations are fast, but be careful with more. One million iterations takes about 15 hours on my home computer. Anyway, with 12 cards and 4 features I've got around 13:1 of having a set. This is actually a problem. The instruction book said this number should be 33:1. And it was recently confirmed by Peter Norvig. He provides the Python code, but I didn't test it. So can you find an error?

    I am working on a Wordpress Theme, I need to work on the navigation, I am having a little trouble creating it. The navigation I am looking for looks like this: www.neu.edu/humanities. I have gotten this far: if (is_front_page()) { wp_list_pages('title_li=&exclude=12&depth=1'); } else { // display the subpages of the current page while // display all of the main pages and all of the // and display the parent pages while on the subpages }

  • How can an IBM WebSphere MQ's Queue Manager's local queues be enumerated?

    - by Jean-Paul Calderone
I'm trying to write a simple tool for monitoring the state of a Queue Manager. One of the things I'd like to monitor is the current queue depth of each queue. I haven't been able to find a way to programmatically enumerate all of the queues on a particular Queue Manager, though. Do any of the MQ APIs provide this functionality? I'd prefer to do this with C, but if it's only possible with another language's bindings, I'd at least like to know that.

  • IDs necessary in update script not being stored (or even seen!?) (PHP MySQL)

    - by Derek
Hi guys, I really need help with this one...have spent 3 hours trying to figure it out... Basically, I have 3 tables necessary for this function to work (the query and PHP)... Authors, Books and Users. An author can have many books, and a user can have many books - that's it. When the admin user selects to update a book, they are presented with a form, displaying the current data within the fields, very straight forward... However there is one tricky part, the admin user can change the author for a book (incase they make a mistake) and also change the user for which the book is associated with. When I select to update the single book information I am not getting any values what so ever for author_id or user_id. Meaning that when the user updates the book info, the associations with the user and author is being scrapped altogether (when before there was an association)... I cannot see why this is happening because I can clearly see the IDs for the users and authors for my option values (this is because they are in select dropdowns). Here is what my sql to retrieve the user ID is: SELECT user_id, name FROM users and then i have my select options which brings up all the users in the system: <label>This book belongs to:</label> <select name="name" id="name"> <option value="<?php echo $row['user_id']?>" SELECTED><?php echo $row['name']?> - Current</option> <?php while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <option value="<?php echo $row['user_id']; if (isset($_POST['user_id']));?>"><?php echo $row['name']?></option> <?php } ?> In the presented HTML form, I can select the users (by name) and within the source code I can see the IDs (for the value) matching against the names of the users. Finally, in my script that performs the update, I have this: $book_id = $_POST['book_id']; $bookname = $_POST['bookname']; $booklevel = $_POST['booklevel']; $author_id = $_POST['author_id']; $user_id = $_POST['user_id']; $sql = "UPDATE books SET bookname= '".$bookname."', booklevel= '".$booklevel."', author_id='".$author_id."', user_id= '".$user_id."' WHERE book_id = ".$book_id; The result of this query returns no value for either author_id or user_id... Obviously in this question I have given the information for the user stuff (with the HTML being displayed) but im guessing that I have the same problem with authors aswell... How can I get these ID's passed to the script so that the change can be acknowledge!! :(

  • cpp/Qt : per class debugging

    - by dzen
I'm developing a Qt application. For each class, I'm trying to mimic the framework, such as error() and errorString() method, use of Private implementation. But I would like to add a per class debugging: Set a macro to the desired level of debug, have a macro or a function that knows the level of debug, and use qDebug() or qWarning() which is class independant, and will know the current class's name (for some pretty prints) Anyone have a good idea to implement this ?

  • Create setup file automatically uninstall existing setup and install new setupfile without changing

    - by sankar.cs
Hi.. By setting the bellow properties we can create the setup file automatically uninstall existing setup and install new setupfile. DetectNewerInstalledVersion:True RemovePreviousVersion:True But each and every setup file we need to change the version property of Setupfile. If it is, it won't through error while installing current setupfile otherwise it throws error: already installed. I am looking into how we can create the setup file without changing the version property of existing setupfile. Thanks.

  • Difference between background and concurrent garbage collection?

    - by marco.ragogna
I read that with .NET Framework 4 the current garbage collection implementation is replaced: The .NET Framework 4 provides background garbage collection. This feature replaces concurrent garbage collection in previous versions and provides better performance. At this page there is an explanation how it works but I am not sure I understood it. In practical world application what is the benefit of this new GC implementation? Is it a feature that could be use to push for a transition from 3.5 or previous to 4.0?

  • Access Request Body in a WCF RESTful Service

    - by urini
Hi, How do I access the HTTP POST request body in a WCF REST service? Here is the service definition: [ServiceContract] public interface ITestService { [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "EntryPoint")] MyData GetData(); } Here is the implementation: public MyData GetData() { return new MyData(); } I though of using the following code to access the HTTP request: IncomingWebRequestContext context = WebOperationContext.Current.IncomingRequest; But the IncomingWebRequestContext only gives access to the headers, not the body. Thanks.

  • chrome-like status bar in qt

    - by hasen j
I'm not big on creating GUI's, and generally my philosophy is: I don't create them, or I make them as simple as possible (and convince myself that it's better for usability :) For my current project, I'm using Qt from Python (PyQt), and I want to start adding some GUI elements without cluttering the interface. My idea is to create these elements as sort of floating-shaped-widgets that only appear when necessary; pretty much like the status bar (and find bar) in chrome. Is there any standard api that enables creating this kind of interface?

  • Why bind hibernate SessionFactory to a JNDI resource?

    - by jschoen
In my current adventure of learning hibernate and setting it up to use an appserver's connection pool, most examples and resources out there point you in the direction of binding the SessionFactory to a JNDI resource in your appserver in the process. I wondering what the benefit of this is? Since the you can access a the connection pool with out doing this.

  • Help to understand and recode javascript function to deal with special characters.

    - by Cesar Lopez
Hi all, I am trying to rewrite a javascript function since I was told this function its a bit nasty peace of code and it could be nicely written by a very kind user from here. I have been trying to understand what the function does, therefore I could rewrite it properly, but since I dont fully understand how it works its a very difficult task. Therefore I am looking for help and directions (NOT THE SOLUTION AS I WANT TO LEARN MYSELF) to understand and rewrite this function in a nicer way. The function its been made for dealing with special characters, and I know that it loops through the string sent to it, search for special characters, and add what it needs to the string to make it a valid string. I have been trying to use value.replace(/"/gi,"/""), but surely I am doing it wrong as it crashes. Could anybody tell me where to start to recode function? Any help would be appreciated. My comments on the function are in capital letters. Code <script type="text/javascript"> function convertString(value){ for(var z=0; z <= value.length -1; z++) { //if current character is a backslash||WHY IS IT CHECKING FOR \\,\\r\\n,and \\n? if(value.substring(z, z + 1)=="\\" && (value.substring(z, z + 4)!="\\r\\n" && value.substring(z, z + 2)!="\\n")) {//WHY IS IT ADDING \\\\ TO THE STRING? value = value.substring(0, z) + "\\\\" + value.substring(z + 1, value.length); z++; } if(value.substring(z, z + 1)=="\\" && value.substring(z, z + 4)=="\\r\\n") {//WHY IS IT ADDING 4 TO Z IN THIS CASE? z = z+4; } if(value.substring(z, z + 1)=="\\" && value.substring(z, z + 2)=="\\n") {//WHY IS IT ADDING 2 TO Z IN THIS CASE? z = z+2; } } //replace " with \" //loop through each character for(var x = 0; x <= value.length -1; x++){ //if current character is a quote if(value.substring(x, x + 1)=="\""){//THIS IS TO FIND \, BUT HAVENT THIS BEEN DONE BEFFORE? //concatenate: value up to the quote + \" + value AFTER the quote||WHY IS IT ADDING \\ BEFORE \"? value = value.substring(0, x) + "\\\"" + value.substring(x + 1, value.length); //account for extra character x++; } } //return the modified string return(value); } <script> Comments within the code on capital letters are my questions about the function as I mention above. I would appreciate any help, orientation, advise, BUT NOT THE SOLUTION PLEASE AS I DO WANT TO LEARN.

  • Algorithm for Negating Sentences

    - by Kevin Dolan
I was wondering if anyone was familiar with any attempts at algorithmic sentence negation. For example, given a sentence like "This book is good" provide any number of alternative sentences meaning the opposite like "This book is not good" or even "This book is bad". Obviously, accomplishing this with a high degree of accuracy would probably be beyond the scope of current NLP, but I'm sure there has been some work on the subject. If anybody knows of any work, care to point me to some papers?

  • How to catch GMail auto-refresh

    - by nameanyone
I wrote a userscript to highlight the current row in GMail (indicated by the arrow). Unfortunately the highlight will only stay until GMail Inbox is auto-refreshed, which happens quite often. Is there a way to catch that event so I could reapply the highlighting? I don't want to do it on timeout. There is another userscript that does that and it loads up CPU.
