    Looking for a quick and dirty way to parse Australian street addresses into its parts: 3A/45 Jindabyne Rd, Oakleigh, VIC 3166 should split into: "3A", 45, "Jindabyne Rd" "Oakleigh", "VIC", 3166 Suburb names can have multiple words, as can street names. See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1739746/parse-a-steet-address-into-components Has to be in Java, cannot make http requests (e.g. to web APIs). EDIT: Assume that format specified is always followed. I have no issue with spitting incorrectly formatted strings back at the user with a message telling them to follow the format (which I've described above).

    Hello, I have a SQL table with a whole load of records that look like this: | Date | Score | + -----------+-------+ | 01/01/2010 | 4 | | 02/01/2010 | 6 | | 03/01/2010 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 2 | I'm plotting this on a chart, so I get a nice line across the graph indicating score-over-time. Lovely. Now, what I need to do is include the average score on the chart, so we can see how that changes over time, so I can simply add this to the mix: SELECT YEAR(SCOREDATE) 'Year', MONTH(SCOREDATE) 'Month', MIN(SCORE) MinScore, AVG(SCORE) AverageScore, MAX(SCORE) MaxScore FROM SCORES GROUP BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) ORDER BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) That's no problem so far. The problem is, how can I easily calculate the percentiles at each time-period? I'm not sure that's the correct phrase. What I need in total is: A line on the chart for the score (easy) A line on the chart for the average (easy) A line on the chart showing the band that 95% of the scores occupy (stumped) It's the third one that I don't get.     I'm reading a paper which mentions that a language for refactoring has three specific requirements. functional features (like ML) logical queries (like Datalog) path queries (like Datalog) I know what they mean by functional features, but I'm not totally clear on the latter two and can't find a clear explanation either. Although I have a good idea after what I could find on the subjects, I need to be sure so here goes: Could the SO-community please clearly explain to me what logical queries and path queries are? Or at the very least what the people from the paper meant?

  • DataAdapter Select string from base table schema?

    When I built my .xsd, I had to choose the columns for each table, and it made a schema for the tables, right? So how can I get that Select string to use as a base Select command for new instances of dataadapters, and then just append a Where and OrderBy clause to it as needed? That would keep me from having to keep each DataAdapter's field list (for the same table) in synch with the schema of that table in the .xsd file. Isn't it common to have several DataAdapters that work on a certain table schema, but with different params in the Where and OrderBy clauses? Surely one does not have to maintain (or even redundently build) the field list part of the Select strings for half a dozen DataAdapters that all work off of the same table schema. I'm envisioning something like this pseudo code: BaseSelectString = MyTypedDataSet.JobsTable.GetSelectStringFromSchema() // Is there such a method or technique?     I seek a solution to the age-old problem of managing string resources. My current implementation seems to work well, but it depends on using singletons, and I know how often singletons can be maligned. The resource manager class has a singleton instance that handles lookups in the ResourceBundle, and you use it like so: MessageResources mr = MessageResources.getMessageResources(); // returns singleton instance ... JLabel helloLabel = new JLabel(mr.getString("label.hello")); Is this an appropriate use of a singleton? Is there some better, more universally used approach that I'm not aware of? I understand that this is probably a bit subjective, but any feedback I can get would be appreciated. I'd rather find out early on that I'm doing it wrong than later on in the process. Thanks!

    i do the below java print command for this double variable double test=58.15; When i do a System.out.println(test); and System.out.println(new Double(test).toString()); It prints as 58.15. When i do a System.out.println(new BigDecimal(test)) I get the below value 58.14999999999999857891452847979962825775146484375 I am able to understand "test" double variable value is internally stored as 58.1499999. But when i do the below two System.out.println i am getting the output as 58.15 and not 58.1499999. System.out.println(test); System.out.println(new Double(test).toString()); It prints the output as 58.15 for the above two. Is the above System.out.println statements are doing some rounding of the value 58.1499999 and printing it as 58.15?

    Hello, after reading through a couple similar Qs/As I haven't quite found the solution I'm looking for. The table data I have is GROUP BY DATE(timestamp) and returning a count, example result: [timestamp] = 2010-05-12 20:18:36 [count] = 10 [timestamp] = 2010-05-14 10:10:10 [count] = 8 Without using a temporary table, or calendar table is there a way to fill in those missing dates? so that with the same table data would return (adding the bold row): [timestamp] = 2010-05-12 20:18:36 [count] = 10 [timestamp] = 2010-05-13 00:00:00 [count] = 0 [timestamp] = 2010-05-14 10:10:10 [count] = 8 Thanks!

    I have an Access database for a media rental company which includes the following tables, among others; LOAN: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), loan_dateReturned (pk) LOAN_ITEMS: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), item_id (pk), loanItem_cost ITEM: item_id (pk), product_id, item_availability PRODUCT: product_id (pk), product_name, product_type MEDIA_COST: product_type (pk), product_cost So basically the 'product type' (DVD, VHS etc) determines the cost. The 'product id' determines what movie, platform etc each item is. My question is: When creating a form for the Loan_Items table, how can I populate the loanItem_cost field (so it is stored) whenever a new Loan_Item record is added? I need to store it as the cost of the item (product_cost) may change over time and I'd like to record what the customer paid at the time the loan was made. Thanks in advance

    I am retrieving a json associative array using a dojo xhrGet request. The data comes back just fine, however I need the app to be able to display the keys and their properties (or values) without knowing the keys beforehand. So, I do the following: function getData() { dojo.xhrGet( { url: "ytd_process.php", handleAs: "json", load: function(response) { for (var key in response) { dojo.byId("boxes").innerHTML+="<div id=\"box\">"+key+":"+response.key+"</div>"; } console.dir(response); // Dump it to the console } }); }; The keys are retrieved and displayed on the page, but the response.key returns undefined. I know the syntax is correct because if I replace .key with an actual key value it will display correctly. It appears it doesn't like a string as the key. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I have 3 tables: subcontracts, companies and contacts. Each table has a active_status flags which shows that the item is still active (hasn't been deleted). Each contact has a company_id field which stores the id of the contact's company. Each subcontract has a company_id field which stores the subcontract's company. Each company has a company_id field which holds its guid and a primary_company field, b/c the company could be a subsidiary. If it's a subsidiary, the primary_company field holds the id of the primary company. I have a subcontract form. On the form, I have a drop-down of contacts which are stored in a contact table. Currently the drop-down lists all contacts. I would like to have the drop-down only list contacts which belong to the subcontract's company or any of that company's subsidiaries. I have the following query which I use elsewhere in the program to pass a company_id and get its subsidiaries. public IQueryable<company> GetSubsidiaryCompanies(Guid id) { return from c in db.companies where c.primary_company == id && c.active_status == true select c; } This is my current contact selection public IQueryable<contact> GetContacts() { return from c in db.contacts where c.active_status == true orderby c.contact_name select c; } What I need to do is pass it the subcontract.company_id and then only return the contacts where contact.company_id == subcontract.company_id or contact.company_id == one of the subsidiary ids.

I have the following code and I am trying to figure out the shorter linq expression to do it 'inline'. Please examine the "Run()" method near the bottom. I've completed the MVC Music Store tutorial, and now I'm trying to add some administrator functionality - practice as I will have to do this in an MVC application in my job. The application is using the aspnet membership api, and what I have done so far is created a view to list the users. What I want to be able to do, is click on the users name in order to change their password. To try and carry the username to the changeUserPassword controller (custom made). I registered a new route in the global.asax.cs file in order to display the username in the URL, which is working so far. UserList View <%: Html.RouteLink(user.UserName, "AdminPassword", new { controller="StoreManager", action="changeUserPassword", username = user.UserName }) %> Global.asax.cs routes.MapRoute( "AdminPassword", //Route name "{controller}/{action}/{username}", //URL with parameters new { controller = "StoreManager", action = "changeUserPassword", username = UrlParameter.Optional} ); So now the URL looks like this when I reach the changeUserPassword view: http://localhost:51236/StoreManager/changeUserPassword/Administrator Here is the GET changeUserPassword action: public ActionResult changeUserPassword(string username) { ViewData["username"] = username; return View(); } I wanted to store the username in ViewData as I would like to use it in the GET changeUserPassword for display purposes, and also as a hidden value in the form. This is in order to pass it through to enable me to reset the password. Having debugged through the code, it seems that 'username' is null. How can I get this to work so that the username carries over from the Html.RouteLink, to the changeUserPassword action?     I asked this last week over the weekend and it got buried in the archives before anyone could answer. So forgive me if you've already seen this. I teach classes and want to be able to select those students who have taken one class, but not another class. I have two tables: lessons_slots which is the table for every class such as: -------------------- -ID name slots- -1 basics 10 - -2 advanced 10 - -3 basics 10 - --------------------- The other table is class_roll, which holds enrollment info, such as: -------------------- -sID classid firstname lastname- -1 1 Jo Schmo -2 1 Person Two ... -13 2 Jo Schmo --------------------- What I want to do, I select everyone who has not had the advanced class (for example). I've tried doing SELECT * FROM lessons_slots LEFT JOIN class_roll ON lessons_slots.ID = class_roll.classid WHERE lessons_slots.name != 'advanced' But that doesn't work...All it does is eliminate that row, without eliminating the user. I want Jo Schmo, for example, to not show up in the results. Any ideas?

    I have a template with has text in it. It's located in /templates under my project directory. I'm trying to do Japanese now. I create a directory called "locale" in my project directory. Then, I set up this in my settings: gettext = lambda s: s LANGUAGES = ( ('de', gettext('German')), ('en', gettext('English')), ('ja', gettext('Japanese')), ) After that, I run this command: django-admin.py makemessages -l ja The only problem is, this doesn't work!
