    Hi everyone, Let say I have an entity user which has a one to many relationship with the entity menu which has a one to many relationship with the entity meal which has a many to one relationship with the entity recipe which has a one to many relationship with the entity element. What I would like to do is to select the elements which belong to a particular user (username = myUsername) and particular menu*s* (minDate < menu.date < maxDate).     Before I jump in at the very deep end and try to make my own version of Moon Pig (www.moonpig.com) I would like to know what (if any) software/platforms currently exist that allow for visitors to personalise cards with text and uploaded photos and then purchase printed versions all via a single e-Commerce style platform. I have Googled till my fingers bled and I cannot find anything that matches my needs, which are: admin can provide templates (backgrounds) for the cards users can customise the card with text (font style and colour) users can upload their own photos (minor editing e.g. crop) to insert into the cards user can purchase a printed card via credit card payment Seeing as this kind of e-Commerce has been around for a while now, I would have thought there were some systems to purchase that can provide this functionality?

    Hi, I'm trying to apply OCP to a code snippet I have that in it's current state is really smelly, but I feel I'm not getting all the way to the end. Current code: public abstract class SomeObject {} public class SpecificObject1 : SomeObject {} public class SpecificObject2 : SomeObject {} // Smelly code public class Model { public void Store(SomeObject someObject) { if (someObject is SpecificObject1) {} else if (someObject is SpecificObject2) {} } } That is really ugly, my new approach looks like this: // No so smelly code public class Model { public void Store(SomeObject someObject) { throw new Expception("Not allowed!"); } public void Store(SpecificObject1 someObject) {} public void Store(SpecificObject2 someObject) {} } When a new SomeObject type comes along I must implement how that specific object is stored, this will break OCP cause I need to alter the Model-class. To move the store logic to SomeObject also feels wrong cause then I will violate SRP (?), becuase in this case the SomeObject is almost like a DTO, it's resposibility it not how to know to store itself. If a new implementation to SomeObject comes along who's store implementation is missing I will get a runtime error due to exception in Store method in Model class, it also feels like a code smell. This is because calling code will in the form of IEnumerable<SomeObject> sequence; I will not know the specific types of the sequence objects. I can't seem to grasp the OCP-concept. Anyone has any concrete examples or links that is a bit more than just some Car/Fruit example?

  • Ubuntu 8.04 LTS MySQL port remote access

    Hi! I have tried everything I know, but still no solution to this problem. MySQL works perfectly on localhost, but it seems port 3306 is blocked from the outside... I have commented out "bind-address" in /etc/mysql/my.cnf, and there is no iptables rules that deny this port. (I have even opened the port in iptables just to be sure) Still I can`t connect to the server from a remote connection (telnet or portscan returns negative results). Where is the problem?

This view is continuous and covers from 0th to 50th elements of an original array. What if I need to explicitly define elements I'd like to see in the view? How can I create a view with indices like [1, 5, 35, 23] ? Any ideas?

    I "inherited" an old Database where dates are stored as Int32 values (times too, but dates shall suffice for this example) i.e. 20090101 for Jan. 1st 2009. I can not change the schema of this database because it is still accessed by the old programs. However I want to write a new program using EF as the O/R-M. Now I'd love to have DateTime-Values in my Model. Is there a way to write a custom type and use this as a Type in the EF-Model. Something like a Type "OldDate" with properties: DatabaseValue : Int23 Value : DateTime (specifying the date-part whereas the time-part is always 0:00:00) Is something like this possible with the EF-Model ?

    Overview: I have a table which stores a persons "availability" for a current day, e.g. Mon - 8:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 6:00pm A second table stores appointments that this person already has for the same day, e.g. Mon - 8:30am - 11:00am Mon - 2:30pm - 4pm Desired result: Doing calculationsI'd like to have the following result - e.g. "this person has availability on the given day": Mon - 8:00am - 8:30am Mon - 11:00am - 11:30am Mon - 1:30pm - 2:30pm Mon - 4:00pm - 6:00pm Any ideas on how to calculate the output given the two inputs (e.g. availability, existing appointments) would be greatly appreciated. Preferably I'd use javascript on the client to do the calculating as I would believe that doing it within the DB (I'm using MSSQL) would be slow for many records, persons, etc. Hope this is enough information to illustrate the problem at hand - Many thanks in advance.

    The regular expression class (rxregexp.dll) that comes with ooRexx (I'm on 4.0.0) is relatively low on function compared, say, with Python's re module (even at 2.5.2). It appears to have no assertions, no facilities for group extraction, or for substitution. Greedy or lazy matching is a global pattern option, rather than flagged by an additional "?". Basically, a pre-PCRE regular expression engine. Does anyone know if anything with more up-to-date function is available?

    Still trying to get my head around JQuery and dynamically generated content. I have the following code that is dynamically generated with JQuery whenever a user clicks on an 'Add' button: <div id="practices_div" style="border-top: 1px dotted gray"> <br/> <a href="#" class="remove_link" rel="practices_div">Remove</a> ....content goes here </div> The JQuery code that dynamically loads the above content is as follows: $.ajax({ url: '/addAjax.html', success: function(response) { $('#container').append(response); } }); What I'm trying to do is when a user clicks on the Remove link, JQuery should hide and delete the dynamically generated content from the page. The code that does this is as follows: $('.remove_link').live('click', function() { if (confirm("Remove this item?")) { $('#practices_div').fadeOut('medium', function() { $(this).remove(); }); } return false; }); So, when the content is dynamically loaded via Ajax, and I click on the Remove link, the Confirmation dialogue box is displayed and if I confirm, nothing happens. For some reason, JQuery is not able find the dynamically generated #practices_div. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

    For work, I am working on a site that has a feature that lets users make custom instances of the site depending on who they want to show it to. So if they want to show their potential employer a little bit about themselves, they can send them a custom url, that has a uid on the end of it that tells the database what to show and what not to when the site is loaded up. Now, I need to be able to take the value that is on the end of the url, this unique uid that corresponds with their preferences in the db, accessable on run time. Meaning that when someone types in this custom url, I need to be able to show the name of the person whose portfolio is being viewed BEFORE password authentication takes place... If I could get the URL, I suppose I could parse through it to find the necessary UID...but how do I get the url? Maybe I am just missing something here, but if anyone has any thoughts or ideas, it would be appreciated!! Thanks

Can anyone get me started on the syntax for something like this? The controller (that is the file's owner) is defined as : @interface ChoixPeriodeController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate> { IBOutlet UILabel* __periodeInitialeLabel; } @property(nonatomic, retain) UILabel* periodeInitialeLabel; - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode; In the .m file, this function is called by the parent window to init the Label : - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode { NSMutableString* tmpString = [NSMutableString string]; [tmpString appendFormat:bla bla bla;....]; self.periodeInitialeLabel.text = tmpString; } Into this function, I can see that self.periodeInitialeLabel is at nil. I can't see why ? Everything is connected into IB... Do you see what can be the problem ?

We decided to use another statistics plugin which can connect to a different database server (the first plugin couldn't!) however we need parts of the first plugin.
