• Regular expression to match non-negative integers in PHP?

  I seem to get it to work with the following regexp by preg_match(): @^(?:[1-9][0-9]*)|0$@ Yet it's weird that it matches '-0', considering there are no '-' allowed at all in the regexp. Why? What's more weird is that if you switch the parts divided by |: @^0|(?:[1-9][0-9]*)$@ It matches all negative integers such as '-2' and '-10', etc. What am I missing here? Any better regexp for non-negative integer?

• Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is really on beyond the Gzip 1 header param?

  Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is on? What I'm looking for is something that can say the stream coming from the server is really gzipped even if the header params say Gzip:1 (which it could be falsely placing in the headers). I don't see a switch in curl, or wget, or tcpdump, or anything, but maybe I'm just missing something, or perhaps there is something else that could provide me this bit of information? Any help would be appreciated.

  I have an authority string defined as such: public final static String AUTHORITY = "dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider"; Followed by an edition to the UriMatcher: uriMatcher.addURI(JobMetaData.AUTHORITY, "/JobNames/*", JOBNAME_SINGLE_URI); The uri that gets passed to the switch is: content://dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider/JobNames/test This falls through the switch and hits the default (which throws an IllegalArgumentException). Am I missing something? I've searched and can't find anything that would account for the mismatch.

• Z-index bug with IE6.. can't seem to figure this one out

  I am working on this gorgeous header here at : http://kayaskitchenbelmar.com/test/header.html Unfortunately, in IE6, the drop downs that come off of the Print and View buttons collapse on to a new line. This is because of the common z-index bug. I tried resolving this by making the parent div have a higher z-index and position relative with its child a lower z-index and position absolute, but that didn't seem to work. Possibly I'm missing something obvious? Thanks so much

I worked on a project that used Office Automation in .NET 1.1 a few years ago, and it was really unspeakably poor. Let's say I have a theoretical, base 10, floating point calculator with the following characteristics Only 3 digits for mantissa 1 digit for exponent Sign for mantissa and exponent How would this machine compute the following? 300 + \sum_{i=1}^{100} 0.2 The correct result is 320. • I need help to disable shadowbox from resizing

  This overlay seems to be the only overlay plugin that works within my schools wonky template... but the problem is that when the browser is resized the shadowbox resizes too, clipping the contents inside. I want it so the box stats fixed and if the browser does get smaller the browser will have scrollbars. I know it's been modified before, but i dont know where to start. • What's the big deal with brute force on hashes like MD5

  I just spent some time reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2768248/is-md5-really-that-bad (I highly recommend!). In it, it talks about hash collisions. Maybe I'm missing something here, but can't you just encrypt your password using, say, MD5 and then, say, SHA-1 (or any other, doesn't matter.) Wouldn't this increase the processing power required to brute-force the hash and reduce the possibility of collision?
