• Revisions: algorithm and data structure

    - by SODA
Hi, I need ideas for structuring and processing data with revisions. For example, I have a database of objects (e.g. cars). Each object has a number of properties, which can be arbitrary, so there's no a set schema to describe these objects. These objects are probably saved as key-value pairs. Now I need to change property of an object. I don't want to completely rewrite it - I want to be able to go back and see history of changes to these properties, that's why I want to add new property and keep the old one (so I guess a timestamp would do the job of telling which property is the latest). At the same time I want to be able to get info about any object in a snap, with only latest versions of each of the properties. Any ideas what would be the best approach? At least please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

  • How to replace the deprecated csc ant task

    - by GrGr
I have a mixed Java / C# project and use an ant script that contains a csc task to compile the dll. This works, but I get a warning [csc] This task is deprecated and will be removed in a future version [csc] of Ant. It is now part of the .NET Antlib: [csc] http://ant.apache.org/antlibs/dotnet/index.html How can I replace the csc task? I can surely create an exec task calling nant with a project.build file, but that feels completely wrong.

  • Where can I get a theme/template suitable for a webapp?

    - by swisstony
I'm building a simple web application that is mainly going to be displaying small tables of data back to the user. The problem is I can't do design to save my life. I need a simple web 2.0 style template that is CSS/HTML compliant. I know about http://themeforest.net and http://www.oswd.org/. Just wondering if there are any other sites that have a good selection of templates suitable for web apps.

  • MULE lifecycle - how to hook into startup process

    - by prule
I would like to be able to create some directories after Mule has started, but before it starts any other services. I started looking into notifications but I'm not sure if that is the right place to do it. I will need access to the spring beans so it would have to be after spring init, but before any of the connectors and other processes kick off. http://www.mulesource.org/display/MULE2USER/Mule+Server+Notifications Thanks.

  • IE7 textbox onfocus problem

    - by Craig
Because IE won't do document.getElementById(ID).setAttribute('type','password') I've re-engineered the way the password field woirks on this site: http://devdae.dialanexchange.com/Default.aspx so it works in accordance with this idea: http://www.folksonomy.org/2009/01/12/changing-input-type-from-text-to-password-in-internet-explorer-hack/ It works fine in IE8 and FF3. It breaks in IE7 just as you click into the password field. I'm now tearing my hair out. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong as IE7's diagnosis is just "Object expected, code 0"?

  • Using R to download zipped data file, extract, and import data

    - by Jeromy Anglim
@EZGraphs on Twitter writes: "Lots of online csvs are zipped. Is there a way to download, unzip the archive, and load the data to a data.frame using R? #Rstats" I was also trying to do this today, but ended up just downloading the zip file manually. I tried something like: fileName <- "http://www.newcl.org/data/zipfiles/a1.zip" con1 <- unz(fileName, filename="a1.dat", open = "r") but I feel as if I'm a long way off. Any thoughts?

  • HBase as web app backend

    - by NathanD
Can anyone advise if it is a good idea to have HBase as primary data source for web-based application? My primary concern is HBase's response time to queries. Is it possible to have sub-second response? edit: more details about the app itself. Amount of data: ~500GB of text data, expect to reach 1TB soon Number of concurrent users using the app: up to 50 The app will be used to present reports about data stored in HBase, like how many times keyword "X" occured in last 24h. For ~80% of requests from that app I will know the exact key, 20% will be scans (I'm looking into HBase schema design related topics to make it run fast)

  • New Facebook like button HTML validation

    - by Eric Di Bari
After adding the new facebook like button to my page, it no longer validates using XHTML strict. The two errors I come across are: All of the "meta property" tags say that "there is no attribute "property"" All of the variables used in the like button line are listed that there are no attributes for it. The line is as follows: <fb:like href="http://www.pampamanta.org" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="120" action="like" font="arial" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

  • Choosing gems to work with AWS

Currently the main two alternatives for me are: RightScale AWS Ruby gems http://github.com/rightscale/right_aws AWS::s3 http://amazon.rubyforge.org/ What are their main advantages and disadvantages? What if later service will need to use other AWS (like EC2)? What other gems do you use and why? Thanks!

  • is there a tool to see the difference between two database tables in mssql?

    - by reinier
What is a good tool to see the differences between 2 tables (or even better, the datasets returned by 2 queries). EDIT: I'm not interested in the schema changes. Just assume that the schemas are the same. background as to why: I'm porting some legacy code which can fill a database with some pre-calced data. The easiest way to see if I got everything right, is to check the output of the old program, with the new one. I was thinking that if there is some kind of 'diff' tool for databases, this might be great.

  • Only error showing is null, rss feed reader not working

I have been following a tutorial which is showing me how to create an rssfeed reader, I come to the end of the tutorial; and the feed is not displaying in the listView. • shipping and handling fee calculation

    - by Newb
Here is the question: Many companies normally charge a shipping and handling fee for purchases. Create a Web page that allows a user to enter a purchase price into a text box - include a JavaScript function that calculates shipping and handling. Add functionality to the script that adds a minimum shipping and handling fee of $1.50 for any purchase that is less than or equal to $25.00. For any orders over $25.00, add 10% to the total purchase price for shipping and handling, but do not include the $1.50 minimum shipping and handling fee. After you determine the total cost of the order (purchase plus shipping and handling), display it in an alert dialog box. I am beginner at JavaScript and struggling to get my code to work. It does display an alert box with the value entered by the user but doesn't add anything. Although, I don't know why the formula doesn't work. Please help.

Calculating Shipping & Handling

Enter Purchase Price
