• Cygwin gdal library load error

  I built spatialite library then gdal library with spatialite support. Also built mapserver which depends on gdal with success. There was no problem with linking. • Is it possible to create a quine in every turing-complete language?

  I just wanted to know if it is 100% possible, if my language is turing-complete, to write a program in it that prints itself out (of course not using a file reading function) So if the language just has the really necessary things in order to make it turing complete (I would prove that by translating Brainf*ck code to it), like output, variables, conditions and gotos (hell yes, gotos), can I try writing a quine in it? I'm also asking this because I'm not sure that a quine directly fits into Turing's law that the turing machine is capable of any computational task. I just want to know so I don't try for years without knowing that it may be impossible.

• Spring security annotations with EL -- requires debug information compiled in?

  I am considering using Spring Security annotations for my application, with the EL (expression language) feature. For example: @PreAuthorize("hasPermission(#contact, 'admin')") public void deletePermission(Contact contact, Sid recipient, Permission permission); I need the EL capability because I have built my own ACL implementation. However, to use this capability with the "#contact" type arguments, the Spring documentation says this: You can access any of the method arguments by name as expression variables, provided your code has debug information compiled in. This begs two questions: It is acceptable to have a production application commercially distributed with debug info in it? If not, is there any way around this? Thanks for any guidance on this!

  I am new to python and just downloaded it today. I am using it to work on a web spider, so to test it out and make sure everything was working, I downloaded a sample code. Unfortunately, it does not work and gives me the error: "AttributeError: 'MyShell' object has no attribute 'loaded' " I am not sure if the code its self has an error or I failed to do something correctly when installing python. Is there anything you have to do when installing python like adding environmental variables, etc.? And what does that error generally mean? • How to get access to a window that is loaded into a panel

  I'm loading an external script (that creates a new window component) into a panel, which works fine. Now, I want to access the created window from a callback function to register a closed event handler. I've tried the following: panel.load({ scripts: true, url: '/createWindow', callback: function(el, success, response, options) { panel.findByType("window")[0].on("close", function { alert("Closed"); }); } }); However, the panel seems to be empty all the time, the findByType method keeps returning an empty collection. I've tried adding events handlers for events like added to the panel but none of them got fired. So the question is: how do I access the window in the panel to register my close event handler on it?

  I'm reading Thinking in C++ (vol. 2): Whenever a function is called, information about that function is pushed onto the runtime stack in an activation record instance (ARI), also called a stack frame. A typical stack frame contains (1) the address of the calling function (so execution can return to it), (2) a pointer to the ARI of the function’s static parent (the scope that lexically contains the called function, so variables global to the function can be accessed), and (3) a pointer to the function that called it (its dynamic parent). The path that logically results from repetitively following the dynamic parent links is the dynamic chain, or call chain I'm unable to comprehend what the author means as function's static and dynamic parent. Also am not able to differentiate between item 1, 2 or 3. They all seem to be the same. Can someone please explain this passage to me?

It is (well, supposed to) passed by locals() into the html template (all other variables are passed that way successfully): return render_to_response('gallery_page.html', locals()) I have this: {% include menu_code %} inside the template html. But instead of being interpreted as code it is just shown as text in the browser. What am I doing wrong? How to make it work as a dynamically generated menu?

  I have a cameraoverlayview that allocates a UINavigationBar to the top of the screen like this - CGRect navbarFrame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 44); navigationBar = [[UINavigationBar alloc] initWithFrame:navbarFrame]; navigationBar.delegate = self; Now I want to add a UIBarButtonItem as the left button to the navigation bar, but the standard navigationbar.leftitem doesn't work. Can anyone point me in the right direction? As far as the navigation bar loading up correctly in the cameraoverlayview, it works 100%.

• Why is the JVM stack-based and the DalvikVM register based?

  I'm curious, why did Sun decide to make the JVM stack-based and Google decide to make the DalvikVM register based? I suppose the JVM can't really assume that a certain number of registers are available on the target platform, since it is supposed to be platform independent. Therefor it just postpones the register-allocation etc, to the JIT compiler. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So the Android guys thought, "hey, that's inefficient, let's go for a register based vm right away..."? But wait, there are multiple different android devices, what number of registers did the Dalvik target? Are the Dalvik opcodes hardcoded for a certain number of registers? Do all current Android devices on the market have about the same number of registers? Or, is there a register re-allocation performed during dex-loading? How does all this fit together?

  I am working with a site that uses virtual earth for its mapping. Unfortunately the file size of the referenced javascript file, ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=6.2, is 200 something kb before being expanded (to 970kb). As our site runs under https this file is not cached on the client, and can cause a few seconds delay to users, made more substantial in times of high load. My question is, is there anyway to get virtual earth to run smaller, or have more efficient lazy loading? At the moment it looks like our hands are tied.

• Rails Action and Fragment Caching during Development?

  I'm just starting to get into Rails caching and am wondering how to test whether or not caching is working in my development environment. I have set these two config variables for both the development (temporarily) and production environments: config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_controller.page_cache_directory = File.join(RAILS_ROOT, 'public', 'cache') And my controller basically looks like this (using the resource_controller gem): class EventsController < Spree::BaseController resource_controller caches_page :index index.response do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @collection.to_xml } end # ... end If I do that, I get these files: public/cache/events.html public/cache/events.xml But when I change caches_page to caches_action, I don't see any generated files and am not sure how to tell if the response has been cached. What do I need to know to know that this is working? I've read the docs and related, the rails caching guides, the railscast, and a few other docs, but I'm still wondering where everything is stored. • Hiding a dropdown menu without it flashing with prototype

  I have a number of dropdowns and divs that are hidden when the page loads and can be toggled with a click or mouseover, but some of them flash b/c the javascript does not run in time. I have their display initially set to block and then I use javascript/prototype to find the element and hide it. I have tried loading these "hider" functions using dom:loaded but there is still flashing. This is an example of a dropdown prototype initialization funtion. • Ajax Div Maintain Height

  Greetings, I have a list of user comments on a page, with a next button which makes an Ajax call to get the second set of comments. The problem is, the height of the comments div temporarily becomes very small while the loading bar is in place. This makes the user need to scroll back down to see the new comments The issue can be seen at the bottom of this page by clicking "Next" comments. Is there a way to force the div to maintain its height through Javascript? I do not want to hard code the div height in case a page has 3 or less comments.

• How to create a web framework in C# without ASPX?

  I've managed to get a C# asp page running under ubuntu/apache/mono, but I don't want to write my framework in these ASP pages, I want to use straight C# and then I'll use a templating language for my views. But I don't know where to begin? C# is a compiled language, so... how would I do this? Would I compile everything and then have apache hook into the (single) executable and pass in the the request URL? Could I request specific .cs pages and then have apache tell it to compile and then "display" it only if it's been updated? Can the "view" files be compiled individually to avoid having to recompile everything every time there's a change? Is there some "base" I can work from, or am I going to have to reinvent accessing GET and POST variables (by reading header info) and all sorts of other stuff we take for granted in languages like PHP?

The submit url is "post_data.php" The posted data is: id=8&name=Denis The PHP verifies if variables id and name are POSTED and their data type. If this is ok it proceed to do some stuff on a database. My question is, how can i prevent someone from creating his own html form, outside my web site, or whatever, and posting false data to my PHP script?   When I call a function, a local scope is erected for that call. Is there any way to directly reference that scope as an object? Just like window is a reference for the global scope object. Background: I'm trying to get down to a way of completely shifting to global scope from within a function call, the with statement is a joke, call works a little better, but it still breaks for anything declared in function scope but not in global scope, therefore I would declare these few cases in global scope, but that requires me to know what they are. The IE function execScript makes a complete shift, but that only solves the problem for IE. Note: To anyone loading JavaScript dynamically, setTimeout(code,1) is a simple effective hack to achieve global scope, but it will not execute immediately.

• Javascript Bookmarklet fails in IE8

  Anyone want to take a stab at why this bookmarklet fails in IE8? It turns all text uppercase in Friefox and Safari. But in IE8, it simply stalls with "loading..." I've enabled scriplets and the security settings in IE8. • MVC: Model View Controller -- does the View call the Model?

  I've been reading about MVC design for a while now and it seems officially the View calls objects and methods in the Model, builds and outputs a view. I think this is mainly wrong. The Controller should act and retrieve/update objects inside the Model, select an appropriate View and pass the information to it so it may display. Only crude and rudiementary PHP variables/simple if statements should appear inside the View. If the View gets the information it needs to display from the Model, surely there will be a lot of PHP inside the View -- completely violating the point of seperating presentation logic.

• how to preload more than one but not all images of a slideshow with jquery

  I'd like to create a web based stop motion video player. Basically a slideshow that shows 2-4 images per second. Each image might be a maximum of 20KB. I don't want to preload all images in the slideshow as there might be thousands, however I need to preload more than just the next image in the show as this will not playback fast enough (because of the playback speed the browser needs to be loading more than one image at a time). I've been looking at using the jQuery Cycle Plugin (http://malsup.com/jquery/cycle/) with a addSlide type function but don't know how to make it work. Would something like this might work? -Slideshow starts -image is played back -preloader will attempt to load up to the next 60 images -playback will wait for the next image in line to completely load, but will not wait for all 59 others. The playback / preloading order is important for this application.

  hey all, when i run my flash file (test it) in the output panel i get the following error TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. i read some where, that this was caused because one of the variables is set to null. after looking at my code i found out that the following line was causing this output arrSelectedIndex[i] = -1; this is later on used as the selected index in a group of radio buttons. my question is, would having the selected index set to -1 be an issue ? thanks

  Hi, I have a messy stored procedure which uses dynamic sql. I can debug it in runtime by adding print @sql; where @sql; is the string containing the dynamic SQL, right before I call execute (@sql);. Now, the multi-page stored procedure also creates dynamic tables and uses them in a query. I want to print those tables to the console right before I do an execute, so that I know exactly what the query is trying to do. However, the SQL Server 08 does not like that. When I try: print #temp_table; and try to compile the S.P. I get this error: The name "#temp_table" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted. Please help.

Therefore looking at the source code, I can tell that config.pyo simply had variables in in an array: ADMIN_USERIDS = [116901, 141, 349244, 39, 1159488] I would like to take the original .pyo and disassembly or whatever I need to do inorder to change one of these IDs. Or.... in model.pyo the source indicates a if (productsDeveloperId != self.getUserId()): All I would want to do is hex edit the != to be a == .....Simple with a windows exe program but I can't find a good python disassembler anywhere. Any suggestions are welcomed...I am new to reading bytecode and new to python as well.
