T-SQL How To: Compare and List Duplicate Entries in a Table

SQL Server 2000. Single table has a list of users that includes a unique user ID and a non-unique user name. I want to search the table and list out any users that share the same non-unique user name. For example, my table looks like this: ID User Name Name == ========= ==== 0 parker Peter Parker 1 parker Mary Jane Parker 2 heroman Joseph (Joey) Carter Jones 3 thehulk Bruce Banner What I want to do is do a SELECT and have the result set be: ID User Name Name == ========= ==== 0 parker Peter Parker 1 parker Mary Jane Parker from my table. I'm not a T-SQL guru. I can do the basic joins and such, but I'm thinking there must be an elegant way of doing this. Barring elegance, there must be ANY way of doing this. Object Reference Error filling a datarow

This is the code: Dim dr() As DataRow = DataSet.Tables("TableName").Select("EVENTNAME = '" & name & "'") I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Error when this line is executed. It is looping through a list of selected items in a listbox. I think it has to do with how I have the datarow declared because I can look at the name and I see it ok and I also do a null check on the name before I use it. Visual Studio 2008, VB.NET. Any ideas? Yep it was a wrong table name. I guess after looking at the code for 8 hours that minor detail I just wasn't thinking to check. Thanks!

Hi, I have a database "temp" with table "A". I created new database "temp2". I want to copy table "A" from "temp" to a new table in "temp2" . I tried this statement but it says I have incorrect syntax, here is the statement: CREATE TABLE B IN 'temp2' AS (SELECT * FROM A IN 'temp'); Here is the error: Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'IN'. Preserve onchange for a dropdown list when setting the value with Javascript.

I have a dropdown list with a piece of code that is run when the value is changed: <select name="SList" onchange="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'SList\',\'\')', 0)" id="SList"> Everything works fine when manually done. As an option is selected, the onchange code is called. The problem begins when I try to change the selected value using a piece of Javscript. I want to be able to automatically change the selected option using JS, whilst still having the onchange code called, exactly as if done manually. I try calling this: form.SList.value = "33"; The right option is selected, but the onchange code does not get called. So then I try doing this: form.SList.value = "33"; javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'SList\',\'\')', 0); The right value is not selected and nothing happens. FYI, the code is done in ASP.NET and Javascript. What can I run to change the selected option whilst still calling the onchange code?

I have a table called transactions with a many-to-many relationship to items through the items_transactions table. I want to do something like this: SELECT "transactions".* FROM "transactions" INNER JOIN "items_transactions" ON "items_transactions".transaction_id = "transactions".id INNER JOIN "items" ON "items".id = "items_transactions".item_id WHERE (items.id IN (<list of items>)) But this gives me all transactions that have one or more of the items in the list associated with it and I only want it to give me the transactions that are associated with all of those items. Any help would be appreciated.

I set up some jQuery tabs to start off with no tabs selected like this: $('#tabs').tabs( { selected: -1 } ); Then I also have a separate link that when pressed needs to deselect all the tabs. $("#deselectButton").click(function(){ $('#tabs').tabs( 'select' , -1 ) }); or $("#deselectButton").click(function(){ $('#tabs').tabs( 'selected' , -1 ) }); The deselectButton click does deselect the tabs content, however the tabs title remains active with the class 'ui-tabs-selected ui-state-active'. What is the correct way to deselect all the tabs?

I am trying to create a login page that will send the user to a different index.php page based on their login credentials. For example, should a user with the "IT Technician" role log in, they will be sent to "index.php", and if a user with the "Student" role log in, they will be sent to the "student/index.php" page. I have a table that looks like this: person trip_id date home destination joe 1 3/10 chicago new york joe 2 4/10 chicago l.a. joe 3 5/10 chicago boston luther 4 3/12 new york chicago luther 5 3/18 new york boston I want to get a result like person trips firstDate home joe 3 3/10 chicago luther 2 3/12 new york Currently I've got Select person, count(trip_id) as trips, min(date) as firstDate from [table] group by person order by firstDate I can't figure out how to get home in there as well. Home is always unique to the person. But my DBMS doesn't know that. Is there an easy way around this problem? Appreciate it.

Here is an example that illustrates my question. I have a program that lists 1000 items. I select 10 of 1000 items. The program enables a button indicating that a command is available for my selection. I click the button, and a window appears. I make some change in the window and click OK. The command changes 5 of the 10 items in my multiple selection, and those 5 changed items now reflect a modified state in my list. My question is: How do I indicate to user that the command affects a subset of a multiple selection before clicking OK? Can anyone cite examples of existing products that handle this scenario well?

Trying to create fields based on a case statement

I'm having some trouble with the query below. I am trying to determine if the "category" field is A, B or C and then creating a field based on the category. That field would sum up payments field. But I'm running into error saying "incorrect syntax near keyword As". I am creating this in a SQL View. Rails 3 date_select for year only

I have a form in my Rails 3 app where I want to create a select tag for just the year on a method :grad_year. I have everything working - and storing - properly using date_select and adding :discard_month and :discard_day. However when I render @profile.grad_year I get the month and day values. So I'm wondering how to store and render only the year for @profile.grad_year? Is it possible to exclude a column from a select * from table statement with SQL Server? I have a need for this and this is my only option other than parsing a raw SQL string to get out the required field names (I really don't want to do that). Just to be bold. When the query is made I do not have access to the list of fields needed from the table but I do know which field I do not need. This is part of a complex multi-part query. Surely there must be some way even if it's "hackish" such as using table variables or views My other option is to reorder the columns. My problem is with ExecuteScalar SQL functions which get the first row and first column.

Weird vps server issue

I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop. Migrating users and mailboxes from postfix / Maildir to Postfix with Mysql backend

So I've got 60 or so users on a hand rolled postfix installation on openbsd and I'd like to move their mailboxes to our new mail server running iRedMail (postfix, vmail/mysql back end) Does anyone know of a good way to do this? Preferably a script I can run to keep syncing the users mailboxes as MX records get updated? I presume one way (though I don't have all their passwords!) would be to have a command line imap client that simulated the users copying their mail themselves but I'm sure there must be a shell / php script to migrate users? Anyone got any bright ideas? Chris.

Hello! I have Windows XP OS. Installed Apache 2.2.14, then PHP 5.2.12 (tested with phpinfo.php - IT'S WORKS!) Then I installed MySQL 5.1. And now, when I add extension = php_mysql.dll to php.ini and restart server, Apache tells me that he can't start (small window with "The requested operation has failed"). Even if I add only extension = *smth*.dll --- the same thing. Apache just don't love my extensions. How to prove him, that they are cool and stuff? Thanks.

PHP vs Batch file for mysql cronjob?

Hi, My server details: OS: Windows Server 2003 IIS6 Plesk 8.xx installed (currently using Plesk to set the cronjob) I need your advice. I have 2 methods: Method 1: Using php + mysqldump, create databases backup files into gzip, and then send email with attachment (each databases has around about 25mb) Method 2: Using batch + mysqldump, create databases backup files into gzip, and then send email with attachment (same, each databases has around about 25mb) My questions: Whats the difference of using php file and batch file for cronjob? Which method is better in term of backup speed and send email, and (maybe)safety (e.g., lesser file corrupt occurance)? If i set the cronjob hourly, will it effect my web performances? I mean, lets say my website has 100++ users online now, and each user making transaction to MySQL, when I perform backup at my web peak hour, will it decrease the performances, like the loading speed, prone to errors etc?? (sorry for my bad english) P.S: If you need my php and batch file code, please ask me to post it here. I didnt post it now is because, its very simple and standard code.
