• How to remotely control a Windows Service with ServiceController?

  Hi, I'm trying to control Windows Services that are installed in a remote computer. I'm using the ServiceController class. I have this: ServiceController svc = new ServiceController("MyWindowsService", "COMPUTER_NAME"); With this, I can get the status of the Windows Service like this: string status = svc.Status.ToString(); But I can't control the Windows Service (by doing svc.Start(); or svc.Stop();). I get the following exception: Cannot open Servicexxx service on computer 'COMPUTER_NAME' That's normal, I suppose there is something to do with access permissions. But how? I've looked into Google but didn't find what I was looking for. However I often read something related to impersonation, but I don't know what that means. NB: The local and remote computers are both running Win XP Pro. Thanks.

If "ApplyPropertyChanges()" is removed, it adds a User. What orders should these methods be called? I don't need to do them separately right? Thanks.

• Try all available WSDL IPs with JAX-WS

  I'm using JAX-WS to open a service port. When the DNS exposes two IPs for the DNS entry (of the WSDL), the Service tries to use only the first - resulting in a "Failed to access the WSDL at: http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl. It failed with: Connection refused: connect" exception. I've found an issue filed against JAX-WS, but with no resolution. this is the comment that describes my problem best. The code is just a one-liner: Service service = Service.create("http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl", engineQName); the smarts is exposing those two A records on http://some.url.com/ at the DNS. • The .NET ActiveX component with WPF content can't be loaded by non MFC app

  I have a legacy delphi program and want to add some content implemented with WPF. So I encapsulate the WPF control with a .NET/ActiveX interop technology. That means something like: [ComRegisterFunction()] public static void RegisterClass(string key); [ComUnregisterFunction()] public static void UnregisterClass(string key); The activeX component is a WinForms User Control and the WPF materials are attached to an ElemenHost in this User Control. It works fine if the host app of this ActiveX is a MFC program even without /clr switch. But my legacy app is a delphi program, and it always throw a stackoverflow exception within the constructor of my WPF user control as the program be started. I have no clue, Google is no help. and it has puzzled me for days.

  In my grails application, I want to display all the current entries of the second-level cache from all regions. My code is as following : def getCacheStats() { StatisticsImpl stats = sessionFactory.statistics for (regionName in stats.secondLevelCacheRegionNames) { log.debug stats.getSecondLevelCacheStatistics(regionName).entries } } However everything works fine as long as the region name is not org.hibernate.cache.StandardQueryCache (region used for Query Cache). In that case, an exception is thrown : java.lang.ClassCastException: org.hibernate.cache.QueryKey cannot be cast to org.hibernate.cache.CacheKey Having googling around, I didn't find any clues about how to display the list of entries of the cached query result sets associated with regions StandardQueryCache and UpdateTimestampsCache. Could you please help me find a solution for this?

• Loading remote assembly from the webservice with reflection

  I am using Assembly.LoadFrom within a web service to load assemblies from a web site. but the problem is it is in the virutal directory and the server.mappath parses the url like \share\mydll.dll and loadform method failed. Is there anyway to reference dll from the remote location? I've tried passing the url (http:\localhost\downloadable\mydll.dll) and again it got "Could not load file or assembly 'http:\localhost\downloadable\mydll.dll' or one of its dependencies. HTTP download of assemblies has been disabled for this appdomain. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131048)"

• IIS 7.5 powershell module usage issues

  Has anyone managed to use this module with success, i'm running 32bit Windows 7, where i have opened an administrator shell using run as administrator, i have imported the WebAdministration module and then attempted to use the commands with some issues, have provided two examples here Websites I created a web site with the following command new-website -name testsite -port 80 -hostheader testsite -physicalpath c:\temp Then i attempted to get the sites details using the command get-website -name testsite but it always returns all sites, seems to ignore the -name parameter. Only way i can get the site is using a filter get-website | ? { $_.name -eq 'testsite' } | get-member When i use appcmd it works as expected using the following command C:\> C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list site testsite AppPools When i try to list the apppools using the following command dir iis:\apppools i get the following error Get-ChildItem : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Yet when i use appcmd as follows i get all the apppools as expected without any error C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list apppool Has anyone successfully managed to use the WebAdministration module ?   I would like to show "Suggestions" in my product listing in Magento. I made an attribute "Suggestion" which is Yes/No and global active. Now in the listing I would like to show the suggestions first, then some text and stuff, and then the rest of products. But Zend Soap Client tries to directly connect it.   I'm aware that an ArrayList is probably not the way to go with this particular situation, but humor me and help me lose this headache. I have a constructor class like follows: class Peoples { public string LastName; public string FirstName; public Peoples(string lastName, string firstName) { LastName = lastName; FirstName = firstName; } } And I'm trying to build an ArrayList to build a collection by calling on this constructor. However, I can't seem to find a way to build the ArrayList properly when I use this constructor. I have figured it out with an Array, but not an ArrayList. I have been messing with this to try to build my ArrayList: ArrayList people = new ArrayList(); people[0] = new Peoples("Bar", "Foo"); people[1] = new Peoples("Quirk", "Baz"); people[2] = new Peopls("Get", "Gad"); My indexing is apparently out of range according to the exception I get.

  It looks like a standard question, but I couldn't find clear directions anywhere. I have java code trying to connect server with probably self-signed (or expired) certificate. It gives something like this [HttpMethodDirector] I/O exception (javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException) caught when processing request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target As I understand, I have to play around with keytool and tell java that it's ok to allow this connection. But all comments I've found assume I'm fully proficient with keytool, like "generate private key for server and import it into keystore". And I'm not. Is there anybody who could post detailed instructions? I'm running unix, so bash script would be best. Not sure if it's important, but code executed in jboss. Thanks a lot!

I used Socket s = new Socket(ip, port) Now it works fine. but when my internet connection is very slow that time after a long interval (even if sometimes after 2 minutes) i used to get SocketTimeOutException in that line. means it gives that error while creating socket. I want the exception should be handled properly means if internet connection is very slow then if that error occurs it happens very late now . I want if this type of error occurs then it should be caught very fast means the error should not come at such a delay interval of time rather it should come immediately. How to achieve this. • Strange behaviour with Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms

  I have a Windows Mobile application in which I want to check the device orientation. Therefore I wrote the following property in one of my forms: internal static Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.ScreenOrientation DeviceOriginalOrientation { get; private set; } The strange thing is that after that whenever I open a UserControl, the designer shows this warning even if that UserControl doesn't use the property: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969db8053d3322ac' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) Commenting the above property will dismiss the warning and shows the user control again. The application is built successfully and runs without any problems in both cases. Does anybody know why this happens and how can I fix it?

  i have the submit form with multiple file upload control(java script).when i will run the code is working well and showing me the form proper.i will fill the information properly and also file upload is working ok.but on clicking of Submit button the Mozilla shows me the "The connection was reset" exception.but if i was not upload any file by using the file upload then it never shows me any error.it save in database properly. i cant understand the problem please anybody help me out. • Unkillable console windows

  I'm developing an OpenGL based 2d simulation with GLUT under Visual C++ 2008, sometimes when I have an assert() or unhandled exception and break into the debugger, the GLUT display window closes, but the console window remains open.They just cant be killed!!! They do not show up with Task manager, Process Explorer or any other tool, I cannot find the window handle using the Spy++ tool either. Worst thing is they prevent my system (Windows XP) from shutting down, I have to manually poweroff (and of course I have to run chkdsk on my drives and invariably it finds and fixes minor errors after bad shutdowns) Has anyone come across such an issue?

• fd.seek() IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument

  My Python Interpreter (v2.6.5) raises the above error in the following codepart: fd = open("some_filename", "r") fd.seek(-2, os.SEEK_END) #same happens if you exchange the second arg. w/ 2 data=fd.read(2); last call is fd.seek() Traceback (most recent call last): File "bot.py", line 250, in <module> fd.seek(iterator, os.SEEK_END); IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument The strange thing with this is that the exception occurs just when executing my entire code, not if only the specific part with the file opening. At the runtime of this part of code, the opened file definitely exists, disk is not full, the variable "iterator" contains a correct value like in the first codeblock. What could be my mistake?   I have a multiple select, and I need to force the user to choose maximum two options, nothing more. I'm trying this: jQuery.validator.addMethod("morethantwo", function(value, element) { var foo = []; $(element+' :selected').each(function(i, selected){ foo[i] = $(selected).text(); alert(foo[i]); }); return true; },"Max two options." ); The problem is that I get a: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [object HTMLSelectElement] error. While if I do this: $(element).each(function(i, selected){ foo[i] = $(selected).text(); alert(foo[i]); }); It works but I get all the options in the select. Why is that? Is this the correct road to walk? Are there better ways to do this kind of check? Thank you very much!

  Hi, I am working with facebook's API and I want to call the links.prevew method. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Links.preview Is it possible to call this method without having my user authenticate or "connect"? For example, not all of my users have hooked up their facebook accounts to my website, but I still want to use this API method. I am getting the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: 453: A session key is required for calling this method thrown in /public_html/libs/facebook.php on line 413 But on the wiki it says that the method does not require a session key? If it is not possible to make API calls without such a key, is there anyway I can make calls on behalf of my account or my applications account (rather then a users account)?   in a partial view I have the following: <%Html.RenderAction(MVC.User.GetComments(Model.UserGroupName)); %> can I render a Controller's PartialViewResult in a View without going through routing so I can pass arguments directly from the model so that the arguments I'm passing to the controller never get sent to the user or seen by the user? Currently the method I'm showing at the top throws an exception because no overload is public. I've got it marked as internal so that a user can not access it, only the rendering engine was my intent.
