    I found the following code somewhere, but I am not understanding the code properly. ArticleVote.submitVote('no');return false; Is ArticleVote a class and submitVote() a function of that class? Or what does the above code mean? And is there any concept of classes and objects in jQuery or in traditional JavaScript? How to create them? Please share some reference links or code.

  • database is normalized but the following is a problem please help

    but the prob is there are relations ships which are so huge that after normalizing they have like a 20 primary keys( composite keys) which are really foreign keys but have to be declared as primary keys to identify the relationship uniquely. so please help? is it correct and i apologize to the expert community for not accepting answers, i was not aware that accepting is possible, the TICK MARK is that visible :-)

    I have an IIS web site. This web site contains other web sites so the structure is like this. \ MainWebSite\ App1\ App2\ All sites are Asp.net MVC Webapplications. In the MasterPage of App1, I reference the script files like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="../../Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js"> </script> The Problem is that he now tries to find the File at http:\server\MainWebSite\Scripts.... how can i work around that? Should I put all my Scripts and CSS files into the root directory, is that a preferred solution?

  • Parsing log files in a folder in ColdFusion

    The problem is there is a folder ./log/ containing the files like: jan2010.xml, feb2010.xml, mar2010.xml, jan2009.xml, feb2009.xml, mar2009.xml ... each xml file would like: <root><record name="bob" spend="20"></record>...(more records)</root> I want to write a piece of ColdFusion code (log.cfm) that simply parsing those xml files. For the front end I would let user to choose a year, then the click submit button. All the content in that year will be show up in separate table by month. Each table shows the total money spent for each person. like: person cost bob 200 mike 300 Total 500 Thanks.

    Yo. I'm trying to make a simple login system in PHP and my problem is this: I don't really understand sessions. Now, when I log a user in, I run session_register("user"); but I don't really understand what I'm up to. Does that session variable contain any identifiable information, so that I for example can get it out via $_SESSION["user"] or will I have to store the username in a separate variable? Thanks.

  • firefox object height ignored when data

    I have a flash video loading in a modal window. It works in others browsers but not Firefox. Firefox opens the modal window to the correct width of the object, but with no height. I have come to learn that Firefox does not recognize <param> and instead uses the data attribute. However, when I remove this attribute, the modal opens with correct height. What is going on?   • Can a stylesheet for handhelds skip loading images

    I have a stylesheet for desktops, and another for handhelds. The web page displays some images when displayed on the desktop, but hides those images when displayed on handhelds. The page appears as designed for both desktops and handhelds. When I check the server logs, I find that the handheld is actually still loading the images, just not displaying them. Is there a way to stop the handheld from loading the images entirely, since it doesn't need them, without having to maintain two sets of web pages? Can it be done using just stylesheets?   • IE7,8 Alpha PNG fade

    Does anyone know what is causing this issue? http://i.imgur.com/z1pzh.png The div in question has a solid 1x1 alpha opaque png repeating in its background-image property, and it's supposed to be all one bg color, not that fading effect. It doesn't appear in FF, Opera or Chrome. If you need more details, I can provide some CSS, but I assure you the CSS is in order. If someone doesn't just out-and-out know why this is happening, they more than likely won't find an answer looking in the code.

    I'm in the process of coding my own Tumblr Theme. Well I was wondering how should I list the posts? In the basic theme, (the one you get when you sign up) doesn't use list items (<li>). But I saw in another theme that it does use list items. By the way, this is what I mean... <div class="post-text"><div> <div class="post-audio"><div> ... or <ul> <li class="post-text"></li> ... </ul> I'm confused on the way I should go - I want to go to the semantic way of doing it because the theme will be built in HTML5.

  • Very different font sizes across browsers

    Chrome/WebKit and Firefox have different rendering engines which render fonts differently, in particular with differing dimensions. This isn't too surprising, but what's surprising is the magnitude of some of the differences. I can always tweak individual elements on a page to be more similar, but that's tedious, to say the least. I've been searching for more systematic solutions, but many resources (e.g. SO answers) simply say "use a reset package." While I'm sure this fixes a bunch of other things like padding and spacing, it doesn't seem to make any difference for font dimensions. For instance, if I take the reset package from http://html5reset.org/, I can show pretty big differences (note the layout dimensions shown in the inspectors).     I want to make some jQuery that shows some table rows and hides others based on the content of the first table cell in each row. When I click a list item I want jQuery to check if the first letter of the item matches the first letter in any table cell in my markup, if so the parent table row should be shown and other rows should be hidden.
