• PHP ZendOptimizer on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  I would like to install FlashMoto and the requirements are not unreasonable: PHP 5.2.1 or higher, Zend Optimizer 3.3 or higher. However my RHEL 5.4 provides me with PHP 5.1.6. So I tried the remi repository http://rpms.famillecollet.com/ but it gave me PHP 5.3.1 and Zend Optimizer from zend.com does not support anything higher than 5.2.x. I also tried the dag repo but it does not have PHP in any version. I also tried some RPMs that Oracle provides on their homepage but they don't provide php-mbstring that I also need. Does anyone know how to get PHP 5.2.1 installed on a RHEL 5.4? Then I can probably fix install the Zend thing. Thanks in advance.

  My physical PC is running 2 VMs on virtualbox. Both of the VM's are linux 64 bit. Don’t forget to give it a look. I agree with Mike because after I looked into the /etc/hosts files, it has just default localhost stuff in it. How should I reconfigure the hosts file?

• Red Hat 5.3 on HP Proliant DL380 G5 and failed drive on RAID controller

  I have a development ERP server here in my office that I assist with support on, and originally the DBA requested a single drive setup for some of the drives on the server. Thus the hardware RAID controller (an HP embedded controller) looks like: c0d0 (2 drive) RAID-1 c0d1 (2 drive) RAID-1 c0d2 (1 drive) No RAID <-- Failed c0d3 (1 drive) No RAID c0d4 (1 drive) No RAID c0d5 (1 drive) No RAID c0d2 has failed. I replaced the drive immediately with a spare using the hot-swap, but the c0d2 continues to mark itself as failed, even when I umount the partition. I'm loathe to reboot the server since I'm concerned about the server coming back up in rescue mode but I'm afraid that's the only way to get the system to re-read the drive. I assumed there was some sort of auto-detection routine for this, but I haven't been able to figure out the proper procedure. I have installed the HP ACU CLI utilties, so I can see the hardware RAID setup. I'd really like to find out what the proper procedure should have been, where I went wrong, and how to correct it now. Obviously this goes without saying I should NOT have listened to the DBA and set the drives up as RAID-1 throughout as was my first instinct. He wasn't worried about data loss, but it sure would have been easier to replace the failed drive. :)

I have disabled the firewall and antivirus software but to no avail. I know the client is set up properly as i can log in to my friend's Remote Desktop server. The client i am using is rdesktop. • How to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Apple Macbook Pro MacBookPro4,1

  I have a one year old Mac Book Pro that I am trying to get RHEL 5.4 installed on via bootcamp. No matter what I do I can't get the installer to boot. I have tried multiple DVD's and even verified the install works on a new Mac Book Pro. Most of the time the installer simply locks up. I usually use Linux text with all-generic-ide on the boot line. I removed the ide parameter and I just used linux text. The results I get are that a bunch of kernel messages appear then the background turns blue and a thin text box pops up saying its loading ata..... something it disappears too fast for me to read. Then the machine freezes. I pressed the alt function keys to see if I could look at the system log, here is what it says: Alt-f3 says "trying to mount CD device hda" Alt-f4 says status error: hda: lastFailedSense Hda: Failed opcode was: unknown Hda: Lost interrupt Hda: Drive not ready for command Ide-cd: command 0x3 timed out Above this junk it looks like it found the partition because it knew it was 20 GB and listed as /dev/sda3. I think it has something to do with the CD drive, is that possible? Thanks again for the support.   I am a total noob with linux. So please explain clearly if you have a solution for me. I have an VPS and I want to update JAVA. I found a guide on the Java site which says: rpm -e < package_name I searched for the packages: [root@srv1 ~]# rpm -qa | grep java java_cup-0.10k-5.el6.x86_64 java-1.5.0-gcj-1.5.0.0-29.1.el6.x86_64 Than I tried to do the delete command [root@srv1 ~]# rpm -e java-1.5.0-gcj-1.5.0.0-29.1.el6.x86_64 error: Failed dependencies: java-gcj-compat is needed by (installed) java_cup-1:0.10k-5.el6.x86_64 java-gcj-compat >= 1.0.70 is needed by (installed) sinjdoc-0.5-9.1.el6.x86_64 What should I do now? My application process listening on port and send broadcast.It is working 5 mins after that it wait on socket for further packets but it didn't receive anything.
