  • CSS: How to affect OTHER elements when a div is hovered

    I think this is a very basic question but I not sure how/if it can be done. What I want to do is to is a certain div is hovered, affect the properties of another div. For example, in this simple example when you hover over #cube it changes the background-color but what I that when I hover over #container, #cubeis affected. I don't want to explain further cause I think it might be confusing, but please ask the the question is no clear enough!! Thanks in advance!! jQueriers: abstain yourselves!! only CSS answers :)

  • Is it safe to display user input as input values without sanitation?

    Say we have a form where the user types in various info. We validate the info, and find that something is wrong. A field is missing, invalid email, et cetera. When displaying the form to the user again I of course don't want him to have to type in everything again so I want to populate the input fields. Is it safe to do this without sanitation? If not, what is the minimum sanitation that should be done first? And to clearify: It would of course be sanitized before being for example added to a database or displayed elsewhere on the site.

    few month ago i write something to get the latitude or longitude from google API. latter i get the database from drupal for latitude or longitude to most of city in worlds. but the problem is that the same city name can be found two or more times in a area. like Firozabad in India and bangladesh both. Agra in UP and agar in Rajasthan. means the confusion in name by user if they found two city by same name they are confused. i hear that HTML 5 support latitude or longitude of the visiter but i need latitude or longitude where they are born or city they want to use to fill a form. how i can get the latitude or longtiude from API like google and some other. the process is that: user put the location in textbox for getting their latitude or longitude. for right thing i want to show them all location [if same thing found more then one]. they can choose the right location and after click they can get the lati and langitude. how i can do this using any API.

    I have this <div id="container"> <div id="div1"></div> <div> Now, let's assume that: the "container" has a width of 300px the "container" has overflow: hidden; the "div1" has a width of 1000px; the "div1" is absolute positioned, top:0px,left:0px; The problem: The "div1" is not hidden, it overflows the "container" but it's still showing :(. If I simply remove the "position:absolute" it will work. How can I hide the overflow of "div1" ?

    By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either.   • Use JS to add characters into textfield

    I want to add a $ symbol before a users entry into a text field without actually submitting the $ when the user clicks submit. Additionally, I need to prohibit the user from entering anything but numerical values in to the text input. I know about the JQuery input mask (http://www.conetrees.com/2009/03/blog/jquery-masked-input-plugin-increase-usability-for-masked-format-input-fields) but this plugin requires you to set the exact number of digits/letters that the user is supposed to enter, which is no good for my current project. Can anyone think of a way to accomplish what I have described above?

  • Variable not implementing correctly from if statement

    I have an if statement that is supposed to set the variable $pc162v to a link specified in the MySQL table if content exists in the $vid column of the row. The problem is, the PHP is detecting that there's a link in the MySQL, but isn't setting the $pc162v variable correctly. Here's the variable declarations: $pc162v = ""; $vid162 = '<embed width="420" height="236" src="'.$pc162v.'" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>'; Here's the section of the if statement: if (empty($row[7])) { $vid162 = ''; } else { $pc162v = $row[7]; } In my web browsers, the part of the code where the variable $vid162 is used, shows up as the following: <embed width="420" height="236" src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> I have also tried setting $vid162 to: <embed width="420" height="236" src="<?php echo $pc162v; ?>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed> and that just makes the code in my web browser: <embed width="420" height="236" src="<?php echo $pc162v; ?>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> Hope someone has a solution!   • Pass Alot of Parameters on a Form to Action Struts2

    I have been working on migrating a web application from Struts1 to Struts2. I have a simple Form with around 45 Fields (basically a grid with data). I have to capture all those in Struts2 Action.I noticed that in struts2 we have OGNL through which we just write getters setters in action itself by declaring fields locally to get those variables flowing in the request. I cannot write 45 getters/setters in my action, there must be a way to pass whole object(a POJO) from jsp to Action layer. In Struts 1, we normally get a ActionForm Object and/or get request parameters in a map and then populate. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
