• IdentityServer Beta 1 Refresh &amp; Windows Azure Support

  I just uploaded two new releases to Codeplex. IdentityServer B1 refresh A number of bug fixes and streamlined extensibility interfaces. Mostly a result of adding the Windows Azure support. Nothing has changed with regards to setup. Make sure you watch the intro video on the Codeplex site. IdentityServer B1 (Windows Azure Edition) I have now implemented all repositories for Windows Azure backed data storage. The default setup assumes you use the ASP.NET SQL membership provider database in SQL Azure and Table Storage for relying party, client certificates and delegation settings. The setup is simple: Upload your SSL/signing certificate via the portal Adjust the .cscfg file – you need to insert your storage account, certificate thumbprint and distinguished name There is a setup tool that can automatically insert the certificate distinguished names into your config file Adjust the connection string for the membership database in WebSite\configuration\connectionString.config Deploy Feedback Feature-wise this looks like the V1 release to me. It would be great if you could give me feedback, when you find a bug etc. – especially: Do the built-in repository implementations work for you (both on-premise and Azure)? Are the repository interfaces enough to add you own data store or feature?

  We're using CentOS and sendmail's m4 configuration. How do I set domains where emails should be delivered? I only want two domains, and would like email to all other domains blocked. • sudoer scheme for a web developer that retains future control of a server?

  Background I have a server that I'm looking to set up, and provide access to another web developer. I don't want to put many constraints on him, though I wouldn't mind isolating the site that he'll be developing from others on the server that I will develop. The problem Mainly what I want is to make sure that I retain control over the server in the future. I want to reserve the ability to create/promote/demote and other administrative functions that don't deal with web software. If I make him an admin, he can sudo su - and become root and remove root control from me, for example. What is a good setup for the sudoers file so that he can do things like: *install software (through apt-get) restart apache access mysql configure mysql/apache reboot edit web development configuration type files in /etc * And can't do things like: take away other admin permissions change the root password have control over other security/administrative functions Example sudoer files that accomplish something like that could be useful, I'm sure that people have needed to do this before.

• Can't connect to local SQL Server

  I'm banging my head against the wall here and can't get things figured out. Yesterday I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 Express and installed a full copy of SQL Server 2008 R2. Everything installed fine but I can't connect to the database to save my life. There is a similar question here that never got answered and I'm not sure if this may be specific to 2008 R2 and how I may have installed. Under my old configuration (SQL Express) I connected with "DM\SQLEXPRESS" just fine. So far I've tried: DM\MSSQLSERVER - .\MSSQLSERVER - \MSSQLSERVER - MSSQLSERVER - DM\Dave\MSSQLSERVER and I get the "cannot connect to server" error every time. I have the service installed as well as the SQL Server Browser that I have started. If anyone had any suggestions that would be great.

• What is the correct way to restart udev in Ubuntu?

  I've changed the name of my eth1 interface to eth0. How to ask udev now to re-read the config? service udev restart and udevadm control --reload-rules don't help. So is there any valid way except of rebooting? (yes, reboot helps with this issue) UPD: yes, I know I should prepend the commands with sudo, but either one I posted above changes nothing in ifconfig -a output: I still see eth1, not eth0. UPD 2: I just changed the NAME property of udev-rule line. Don't know any reason for this to be ineffective. There is no any error in executing of both commands I've posted above, but they just don't change actual interface name in ifconfig -a output. If I perform reboot - then interface name changes as expected. UPD 3: let I explain all the case better ;-) For development purposes I write some script that clones virtual machines (VirtualBox-driven) and pre-sets them up in some way. So I perform a command to clone VM, start it and as long as network interface MAC is changed - udev adds the second rule to network persistent rules. Right after machine is booted for the first time there are 2 rules: eth0, which does not exist, as long as it existed in the original VM image MAC eth1, which exists, but all the configuration in all files refers to eth0, so it is not that good for me So I with sed delete the line with eth0 (it is obsolete and useless in cloned image) and replace eth1 with eth0. So currently I have valid persistent rule, but there is still eth1 in /dev. The issue: I don't want to reboot the machine (it will take another time, which is not good thing on building-VM-stage) and just want to have my /dev rebuilt with some command so I have ready-to-use VM without any reboots.

• Problems using PC as a media server with PS3

  I recently got a PS3 and decided to take advantage of the fact that it can be used to stream movies by making my PC a media server. I've done this in the past with the same router I have now before I sold my old PS3, but not on this PC. I've tried using both Tversity and PS3 Media server, but I don't think the problem lies within the configuration of either of those programs because I am unable to ping the PS3. This problem only occurs when I am using a wired connection on my pc, attempting to connect to a WLAN connection on the PS3. If I switch to WLAN on my PC I can successfully ping the PS3 and connect to the media server. Thanks

  Version control systems (VCS) like Subversion, Git and the others has been widely adopted and became the must-have tool in any software development project. Source artifacts and checked out, modified, checked in, all the history of changes is tracked by the VCS.  But what if the development tool stores the source/configuration artifacts not in your laptop's hard drive, but in some shared repository instead? Well, we definitely need a way for export/import our artifacts from/to this repository.   Oracle BI Publisher report development approach is based on such a shared repository model (catalog), and starting from BI Publisher 11.1.1.5 Oracle ships Catalog Utility, which can be utilized to export/import the reports from the command line.  To start using the BI Publisher Catalog Utility you should: Go to the file system of the server where BI Publisher binaries has been installed and locate the following file: <MW_HOME>/Oracle_BI1/clients/bipublisher/BIPCatalogUtil.zip Copy the file to your local filesystem and unzip it. I will refer to this unzipped directory as <BIP_CLIENT_DIR> below If you do not want to pass server BI Publisher server URL, username and password during each invocation, modify the corresponding values inside <BIP_CLIENT_DIR>/config/xmlp-client-config.xml Open the terminal window and go to <BIP_CLIENT_DIR>/bin Make sure that the following environment variables are set: JAVA_HOME, ORACLE_HOME Now it's time to run the utility: if you are on Linux - just run BIPCatalogUtil.sh and pass the parameters according to the utility documentation if you are on MS Windows the bad news are that the command script for MS Windows is missing, and support.oracle.com note 1333726.1 says that a temporary solution is "create a .cmd file by setting up a classpath and copying the same commands from the .sh script". • Cannot set monitor to native resolution

  problem is similar to so many other users, but solutions found do not work. Background: Fresh install of 12.04 (completely updated) on a Fit-PC2 (specs). Read in several places that the new 3.X kernel that 12.04 runs on has a new psb_gfx driver which supports the gma500 graphics card (poulsbo chipset). All's pretty much working (there are some glitches which are documented, so I won't raise them here), except for the screen resolution. My native monitor resolution is 1920X1080, but all I get is 1024x768. Output running xrandr: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768 default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 0.0* Although I read that Ubuntu does not come with an xorg.conf file anymore, I also tried running sudo X :1 -configure, and here's the end of the output: Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices. Configuration failed. When I look in the xorg.conf.new file created in my home directory, it seems that for some reason X thinks I have two screens. Don't know what to do with that. Ideas anyone? • JBoss thrown error looking up local address when starting

  Hello im installing a fresh Jboss 5.1 in a Centos 5.5 machine. I dont have Apache installed. So when I try to start jboss using the comand ./run.sh I get the following error 15:13:57,414 INFO [JMXKernel] Legacy JMX core initialized 15:14:03,856 ERROR [ServerInfo] Error looking up local address java.net.UnknownHostException: dhcppc1: dhcppc1 at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java:1354) at org.jboss.system.server.ServerInfo.getHostAddress(ServerInfo.java:364) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) .... After that i can run Jboss only from 127.0.0.1:8080 but using localhost:8080 doesnt work. I think its a centos configuration problem but im a total newbye managing ports and maybe firewalls, so what do you think could be the problem?

  I'm trying to start a VM on a new Hyper-V installation and I'm receiving the following error: The virtual machine could not be started because the hypervisor is not running. The following actions may help you resolve the problem: 1) Verify that the processor of the physical computer has a supported version of hardware-assisted virtualization. 2) Verify that hardware-assisted virtualization and hardware-assisted data execution protection are enabled in the BIOS of the physical computer. (If you edit the BIOS to enable either setting, you must turn off the power to the physical computer and then turn it back on. Resetting the physical computer is not sufficient.) 3) If you have made changes to the Boot Configuration Data store, review these changes to ensure that the hypervisor is configured to launch automatically. My machine supports virtualization at the hardware level and it is enabled in BIOS. Why am I receiving this error?

• Find files containing a string on the whole filesystem

  I need to find all the instances of a given string in the whole filesystem, because I don't remember in which configuration files, script or any other programs I put it and I need to update that string with a new one. I tried with the following command `grep -nr 'needle' / --exclude-dir=.svn | mail [email protected] -s 'References on xxx' If I run this command on a small directory it gives me the output I need in the form /path1/:nn:line containing needle /path2/:nn:line containing needle where /path1 is the full path of the file, nn is the row containing the needle and last field is the content of the line. However when I run the command on the root directory the grep process hang after a while. I run this script about 8 hours ago and even on a small filesystem (less than 5GB) it doesn't end and if I run top or ps the process seems sleeping root 24909 0.0 0.1 3772 1520 pts/1 S+ Feb10 0:15 grep -nr needle / --exclude-dir=.svn Why it doesn't end? Is there any better way to do this (it's a one time job, I don't need to execute this more than once) Thanks.

• X-ming, Ubuntu apps - getting the Ubuntu style/theme to load

  I am running X-ming on Windows 7 and using putty to ssh into an Ubuntu system. On the Ubuntu system I use the command: $ gnome-terminal & to display a terminal back on the Windows box. When I do this I don't get the standard Ubuntu style, i.e. dark purple background, Mono font, solid cursor (which I've configured in the Gnome Control Center.) Instead I get a very plain style - white background, blinking cursor, very small font. However, if I run gnome-control-center and then click on, say, the Keyboard icon, the terminal window will be reconfigured with the Ubuntu style with my customizations (e.g. block cursor vs. blinking cursor.) Just starting one of the control applets seems to trigger this style change. My question is: How can I trigger this style change more directly - without having to launch the Gnome Control center and launching one of the configuration applets?

• Wamp website stop responding till restarting services [on hold]

  My first message here after many non conclusive research about my problem. So I'm administering a drupal website and I have migrate all application to new version: PHP 5.3.5 - 5.4.16 Apache 2.2.17 - 2.4.4 MySQL 5.1.36 - 5.6.12 With the new Wamp version. Also update Drupal from 6.19 to 6.30. I have update it by uninstalling everything in the server and reinstalling the new version. Since this update the website sometimes become unresponsive till we restart wamp. No warrning and no error in event log. Can somebody help me with this problem? I also cannot enable SSL, after configuring it wamp won't start. I have do many research and test but I still have many issue. The Passwords to login to the web page of each other modems are known. I mean, we can access each other Modem Web GUI easily ( because we know the WAN IP of each other modem ).   I have a question / curiosity about split-brain on a Drbd Primary/Primary configuration. Supposing two nodes (hosts), host1 and host2 configured with Drbd Primary/Primary and two different shares (NFS, CIFS o iSCSI) of a replicated area (saying /drbd) /drbd/file1.data /drbd/file2.data If a pool of client would access only by host1 share reading and wrinting only file1.data and another pool only by host2 share to file2.data, this scenario should avoid split brain situation in case of one node failure or it's just a conjecture? The final purpose is load balance between the two nodes in normal condition and collapsing to one node only in case of failure. Thank you! Eddie

Situation we have a remote Windows Server 2008R2 VPS and i just installed the Active Directory Domain Services Role. A DNS Server was also configured by default at the end of the Active Directory installation. Problem I can't get my Windows 7 machine to register itself to the domain i have just created Question What are the steps i have to take to test my Active Directory configuration, and how do i connect clients to this Domain? • How to share internet connection on Mac os x to Virtualbox vm’s using Host-only

  In one line : is the following possible : Airport <- "osx bridge" - vbox-Host-only - vm's Virtualbox (3.1.4) setup : Host : Mac OS X 10.5 Guest : Ubuntu Linux adapter1 - Bridged (en1: Airport) : To give the vm access to internet and communicate when Airport is connected adapter2 - Host-Only (vboxnet0) : To enable host/guest communication when Airport is not connected I'd like to make it simpler and only keep adapter 2 (host-only) and relying on os x connection sharing/bridging I thought i could just keep the Host only configuration, and on the host go to internet sharing and select "share from airport" to vboxnet0 . Only to find out that vbox's virtual interface doesn't appear in the interfaces list on os x preferences. I know that on a linux host you could install something called bridge-utils and use that to bridge the two insterfaces. Is there any thing like that for Mac ?

  After installing redmine, i cann only access the filesystem! I reinstalled redmine 2-3 times in different ways. This change wouldn't be a problem. I use this on a bunch of other services. The Database does exist and i can enter it. The configuration file config/database.yml is set up right, with the data i use to enter as redmineuser. So does one have an idea why it is not working like i wish?

  I have the following scenario: EX2200 Switch whit ge-0/0/6 set as an access port on VLAN 80 ge-0/0/0 set as a trunk port connected to a catalyst switch and various vlans allowed to pass includin vlan 80 On the Catalyst Switch. port #3 set up as a trunk port that receives traffic from the EX switch. port 46 is set up also as a trunk port that connects to a cisco router. Port #48 is where the host used to be connected host - EX2200 - Catalyst - Router the problem is that this EX2200 is a new addition to the network and the host connected previosly to the catalyst switch. traffic is not getting from the host to the router, but the router can send ARP request to the host. following is the relevant configuration: Catalyst Switch: interface GigabitEthernet1/46 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk allowed vlan 80,82,83,93,289 switchport mode trunk mtu 1532 media-type rj45 speed 1000 duplex full arp timeout 300 ! interface GigabitEthernet1/48 switchport access vlan 80 switchport mode access mtu 1532 media-type rj45 speed 100 duplex full arp timeout 300 no cdp enable ! • DokuWiki Segmentation Fault On Radius Auth

  I'm running x64 Ubuntu 12.04. I did a simple apt-get install dokuwiki to install DokuWiki. And I'm trying to follow the directions located here: http://www.dokuwiki.org/auth:radius to get Radius authentication working. Things seemed to install OK. Under Configuration Manager I selected Authentication backend to be "Radius" and filled in the Radius details at the bottom. Now, however, whenever I try to log into the Wiki, my browser gives me the following error: No data received I checked /var/log/apache2/error.log and see this: [Tue Jul 10 22:22:14 2012] [notice] child pid 5270 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I'm fairly sure the Radius server is setup correctly as it correctly authenticates with my squid proxy and other stuff on the network. But this is about the extent of my Linux troubleshooting skills. Can anyone suggest steps for me to follow to help track down what's causing apache2 to segfault short of attaching with gdb and issuing a set follow-fork-mode? I'm also open to just hearing suggestions for simila
