• Eclipse JUnit Plugin Test very slow to re-execute Test Suite on Windows

  I'm having an odd, and stressing, problem with running a large JUnit Plugin test suite in Eclipse. When I try to re-run a JUnit plugin suite that has just been executed, Eclipse hangs for quite some time before it eventually wakes up and launches. It can take up to 5 minutes sometimes, and increases with the size of the suite. Visually, it appears as a GC cleanup, except that I have plenty of GC space available (400 MB freely allocated). The size of the workspace that is has to delete is well under 1 GB, and there are not too many files - definitely less than 20,000. While I was waiting for a new run to start, I decided to manually kill explorer.exe to see if it had any effect. Surprisingly, Eclipse instantly fell out of its freeze and ran as normal. This makes me think that Windows is somehow interfering with the deletion of these workspace files. They're not being put into the Recycle Bin though. The workspace is in C: which I think is out of the range of any workspace/domain stuff. Any ideas?

  Is is possible to execute a JQuery function by injecting it into the page? IT CAN'T be attached to the .ready function. The reason is that the user will be uploading an image via iframe.   I have always wondered why you cannot use locally defined classes as predicates to STL algorithms.   Goodmorning everybody, I'm having a little problem with a project for school. We are told to make an Iterator that implements Enumeration over a Hashmap. If I use the quick fix it just adds the hasMoreElements() and nextElement() dummy methods in my class. Somehow it doesn't see these methods in the inner class.. Can anyone help me please? Any help is appreciated.

Backround: I have exactly the same problem: I have some kind of connection pool (List of Connections) and need to block if all connections are checked. And now the worst part - I need the backgrounds to disappear on mouseleave. I need it to work with any HTML mess possible. The above is just an example and structure of the documents will differ. [tip. Processing the whole html before binding hover and putting some spans etc. is ok as long as it doesn't change the looks of the output document]

  I tried to translate some new part of winuser.h header to Delphi. Why this structure is expected to be 48 bytes (only this size was accepted by the corresponding function). • Fast JSON serialization (and comparison with Pickle) for cluster computing in Python?

  I have a set of data points, each described by a dictionary. The processing of each data point is independent and I submit each one as a separate job to a cluster. Each data point has a unique name, and my cluster submission wrapper simply calls a script that takes a data point's name and a file describing all the data points. That script then accesses the data point from the file and performs the computation. Since each job has to load the set of all points only to retrieve the point to be run, I wanted to optimize this step by serializing the file describing the set of points into an easily retrievable format. I tried using JSONpickle, using the following method, to serialize a dictionary describing all the data points to file: def json_serialize(obj, filename, use_jsonpickle=True): f = open(filename, 'w') if use_jsonpickle: import jsonpickle json_obj = jsonpickle.encode(obj) f.write(json_obj) else: simplejson.dump(obj, f, indent=1) f.close() The dictionary contains very simple objects (lists, strings, floats, etc.) and has a total of 54,000 keys. The json file is ~20 Megabytes in size. It takes ~20 seconds to load this file into memory, which seems very slow to me. I switched to using pickle with the same exact object, and found that it generates a file that's about 7.8 megabytes in size, and can be loaded in ~1-2 seconds. This is a significant improvement, but it still seems like loading of a small object (less than 100,000 entries) should be faster. Aside from that, pickle is not human readable, which was the big advantage of JSON for me. Is there a way to use JSON to get similar or better speed ups? If not, do you have other ideas on structuring this? (Is the right solution to simply "slice" the file describing each event into a separate file and pass that on to the script that runs a data point in a cluster job? It seems like that could lead to a proliferation of files). thanks.

• How to best show progress info when using ADO.NET?

  I want to show the user detailed progress information when performing potentially lengthy database operations. Specifically, when inserting/updating data that may be on the order of hundreds of KB or MB. Currently, I'm using in-memory DataTables and DataRows which are then synced with the database via TableAdapter.Update calls. This works fine and dandy, but the single call leaves little opportunity to glean any kind of progress info to show to the user. I have no idea how much data is passing through the network to the remote DB or its progress. Basically, all I know is when Update returns and it is assumed complete (barring any errors or exceptions). But this means all I can show is 0% and then a pause and then 100%. I can count the number of rows, even going so far to cound how many are actually Modified or Added, and I could even maybe calculate per DataRow its estimated size based on the datatype of each column, using sizeof for value types like int and checking length for things like strings or byte arrays. With that, I could probably determine, before updating, an estimated total transfer size, but I'm still stuck without any progress info once Update is called on the TableAdapter. Am I stuck just using an indeterminate progress bar or mouse waiting cursor? Would I need to radically change our data access layer to be able to hook into this kind of information? Even if I can't get it down to the precise KB transferred (like a web browser file download progress bar), could I at least know when each DataRow/DataTable finishes or something? How do you best show this kind of progress info using ADO.NET?

• How to animate the drawing of a CGPath?

  I am wondering if there is a way to do this using Core Animation. Specifically, I am adding a sub-layer to a layer-backed custom NSView and setting its delegate to another custom NSView. That class's drawInRect method draws a single CGPath: - (void)drawInRect:(CGRect)rect inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 12); CGMutablePathRef path = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(path, NULL, 0, 0); CGPathAddLineToPoint(path, NULL, rect.size.width, rect.size.height); CGContextBeginPath(context); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextStrokePath(context); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } My desired effect would be to animate the drawing of this line. That is, I'd like for the line to actually "stretch" in an animated way. It seems like there would be a simple way to do this using Core Animation, but I haven't been able to come across any. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could accomplish this goal?

It displays fine ie drops in from the top but when being removed it stalls just on its way out just for a fraction of second but its noticeable how do i get rid of the stall.   I'm using C structs in objc and I've created a function that assembles the structure like the one from the Cocoa API. The things is that this structure is not like NSRect o NSPoint this structure packs objc objects soo I'm seeing a potential memory leak here. Do I need to provide a function to 'release' the structure? • JQuery jqGrid vertical spacing issue in IE

  I have been developing an app to use jQuery's jqGrid plugin, and I thought I had it all wrapped up until I tried to view the grid in IE. In IE, the grid appears with a much larger height in the .ui-jqgrid-view div, but the data itself stays at a smaller size and displays at the bottom of the container div (.ui-jqgrid-view). I need to get the grid to display "properly". I don't care if it is the larger size (that IE displays) or smaller (as in FF)... I just need to have the data fill the grid area. Thanks! • Is there any way to get MSVC to pass structs arguments in registers on x64?

  For a function with signature: struct Pair { void *v1, *v2 }; void f(Pair p); compiled on x64, I would like Pair's fields to be passed via register, as if the function was: void f(void *v1, void *v2); Compiling a test with gcc 4.2.1 for x86_64 on OSX 10.6, I can see this is exactly what happens by examining the disassembly. However, compiling with MSVC 2008 for x64 on Windows, the disassembly shows that Pair is passed on the stack. I understand that platform ABIs can prevent this optimization; does anyone know any MSVC-specific annotations, calling conventions, flags, or other hacks that can get this to work? Thank you!

Is there a way I can re-factor the code to use tail recursion, or prevent the stack overflow.   Ok so I have a regex and I need it to find matches in a multiline string. The regex I am using is: @"([A-Za-z0-9\(\) \-\/]+):([A-Za-z0-9\(\) \-\/]+).*" It does work but only picks up the first line and separates it into the two groups like I want but it stops at that point. I have tried the Multiline option but it doesn't make any difference. I must admit I am new to the regex world. Any help is appreciated.

• C++/CLI .ToString() returning error

  I am a beginner to C++/CLI as I come from a C# background. I am currently writing a wrapper for some native C++ code. I have the following methods: void AddToBlockList(System::String^ address) { char* cAddress = (char*)(void*)Marshal::StringToHGlobalAnsi(address); _packetFilter->AddToBlockList(cAddress); } void AddToBlockList(IPAddress^ address) { char* cAddress = (char*)(void*)Marshal::StringToHGlobalAnsi(address.ToString()); _packetFilter->AddToBlockList(cAddress); } ...The first method works fine and converts my string into the character array. However, the second function with the IPAddress object as the signiture gives me the following error: error C2228: left of '.ToString' must have class/struct/union ...When I type ? address.ToString() ...in the command window, the IP Address prints. Not sure where I'm going wrong. Any ideas?
