For example, when I input (5+6i)(6+1i), it just gives (5+6i)(6+1i). Even if I input any other things, for example, input "abc" it just gives "abc" and is not syntax error. I don't know where the problem is and I hope to know how to solve it.

  I want to download a PDF file from a SQL Server database which is stored in a binary column. There is a LinkButton on an aspx page. I am confused because I was believing that ClearContent and ClearHeaders would ensure that the page content is not sent together with the file content. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks for help!

  I compiled boost with bjam, and then I compiled OpenSSL. Both of them work separately. I set up the links in Visual Studio 10 to point to my OpenSSL library directory.   If I have an IEnumerable like: string[] items = new string[] { "a", "b", "c", "d" }; I would like to loop thru all the pairs of consecutive items (sliding window of size 2). IMHO there should be a nice way to do this kind of sliding window operations. I use C# 2.0 and I can imagine that with C# 3.0 (w/ LINQ) there are more (and nicer) ways to do this, but I'm primarily interested in C# 2.0 solutions. Though, I will also appreciate C# 3.0 solutions.

I have to Search for the files with only .txt format in the current directory, count the number of cases of each different "Interface # nnnn" string in .txt file, where nnnn is a four or 32 digits max hexadecimal no and o/p of a table of Interface number against occurrence. I am facing implementation issues while writing a script i.e, Unable to implement the data structure like Linked List, Two Dimensional array. I am rewriting a script using multi dimension array (Pass values into the arrays in and out of procedure) in TCL to scan through the every .txt file and search for the the string/regular expression ‘Interface # ’ to count and display the number of occurrences. If someone could help me to complete this part will be much appreciated. Search for only .txt extension files and obtain the size of the file Here is my piece of code for searching a .txt file in present directory set files [glob *.txt] if { [llength $files] > 0 } { puts "Files:" foreach f [lsort $files] { puts " [file size $f] - $f" } } else { puts "(no files)" } I reckon these are all the possible logical steps behind to complete it i) Once searched and find the .txt file then open all .txt files in read only mode ii) Create a array or list using the procedure (proc) Interface number to NULL and Interface count to zero 0 iii) Scan thro the .txt file and search for the string or regular expression "interface # iv) When a match found in .txt file, check the Interface Number and increment the count for the corresponding entry. • Passing complex objects to javascript via IScriptControl

  I'm playing around with a asp.net page that's using the IScriptControl interface to pass data from the code-behind to the custom javascript object running on the browser. I'm passing a number of properties via IScriptControl.GetScriptDescriptors(), and they're all working fine, except for one. That one is a class derived from System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary<. And even that one has been working for me, so long as the elements in the collection were scalars - ints, doubles, and strings. But when I tried to pass a member of a class, it showed up as a null object in the javascript. The class in question is marked [Serializable]. I changed it to a struct, and got the same behavior. It looks as if the serializer used in IScriptControl does a shallow copy. I need a deep copy. Any ideas?

• IDL in ATL/COM: Can I publish a const of a complex type?

  I know how to publish a const of a simple type in IDL, for example: const long blah = 37 But I want to publish consts of complex types, with methods, or at least readable struct-like member fields. For example, perhaps a type called CarType, which has accessor fields like "get_Make", "get_Model", "get_Year", "get_BasePrice", et cetera. Then I would like to publish const instances, such as FORD_PINTO_1973. (Please don't read too much into the example, to tell me that this particular example would lend itself better to just regular classes without const instances or something like that). I have no idea how I would define, in IDL, the fact that FORD_PINTO_1973 has a Year field of 1973. Thanks in advance for any help.

  Hi, I have trouble understanding a fundamental concept in Java 2D. To give a specific example: One can customize a swing component via implementing it's own version of the method paintComponent(Graphics g) Graphics is available to the body of the method. Question: What is exactly this Graphics object, I mean how it is related to the object that has the method paintComponent? Ok, I understand that you can do something like: g.setColor(Color.GRAY); g.fillOval(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); To get a gray oval painted. What I can not understand is how is the Graphics object related to the component and the canvas. How is this drawing actually done? Another example: public class MyComponent extends JComponent { protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) { System.out.println("Width:"+getWidth()+", Height:"+getHeight()); } public static void main(String args[]) { JFrame f = new JFrame("Some frame"); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.setSize(200, 90); MyComponent component = new MyComponent (); f.add(component); f.setVisible(true); } } This prints Width:184, Height:52 What does this size mean? I can make it look fine (and consistent) with by removing the - but then it's obviously just a dummy with no search - any ideas to fix the latter? • Using custom coordinates with QGraphicsScene

  I am experimenting with a WYSIWYG editor that allows a user to draw shapes on a page and the Qt graphics scene support seems perfect for this. However, instead of working in pixels I want all my QGraphicsItem objects to work in tenths of a millimetre but I don't know how to achieve this. For example: // Create a scene that is the size if an A4 page (2100 = 21cm, 2970 = 29.7cm) QGraphicsScene* scene = new QGraphicsScene(0, 0, 2100, 2970); // Add a rectangle located 1cm across, 1cm down, 5cm wide and 2cm high QGraphicsItem* item = scene->addRect(100, 100, 500, 200); ... QGraphicsView* view = new QGraphicsView(scene); setCentralWidget(view); Now, when I display the scene above I want the shapes to appear at correct size for the screen DPI. Is this simply a case of using QGraphicsView::scale or do I have to do something more complicated? Note that if I was using a custom QWidget instead then I would use QPainter::setWindow and QPainter::setViewport to create a custom mapping mode but I can't see how to do this using the graphics scene support.

  After much searching the answer seems to be no, but I thought I'd ask here before giving up. For a project I'm working on that includes recording sound, the input levels sound a little quiet both when the route is external mic + speaker and when it's headphone mic + headphones. Does anyone know definitively whether it is possible to programmatically change mic gain levels on the iPhone in any part of Core Audio? If not, is it possible that I'm not really in "speakerphone" mode (with the external mic at least) but only think I am?   We're running SQL Server 2000. In our database, we have an "Orders" table with approximately 750,000 rows. We can perform simple SELECT statements on this table. However, when we want to run a query like SELECT TOP 100 * FROM Orders ORDER BY Date_Ordered DESC, we receive the following message: Error: 9002, Severity: 17, State: 6 The log file for database 'tempdb' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space. We have other tables in our database which are similar in size of the amount of records that are in the tables (i.e. 700,000 records). On these tables, we can run any queries we'd like and we never receive a message about 'tempdb being full'. To resolve this, we've backed up our database, shrunk the actual database and also shrunk the database and files in the tempdb system database, but this hasn't resolved the issue. The size of our log file is set to autogrow. We're not sure where to go next. Are there any ideas why we still might be receiving this message? Error: 9002, Severity: 17, State: 6 The log file for database 'tempdb' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.

When I click my save button to push my changes in my data table to my sql server the value in the data table is never changed.   Frustrated by lack of a simple ACDSee equivalent for OS X, I'm looking to hack one up for myself. I'm looking for a gui library that accommodates: Full screen image display High quality image fit-to-screen (for display) Low memory usage Fast display Reasonable learning curve (the simpler the better) Looks like there are several choices, so which is the best? Here are some I've run across: PyOpenGL PyGame PyQT wxpython I don't have any particular experience with any of these, nor any strong desire to become an expert - I'm looking for the simplest solution. What do you recommend? [Update] For those not familiar with ACDSee, here's what it does that I care about: Simple list/thubmnail display of images in a directory Sort by name/size/type Ability to view images full screen Single-key delete while viewing full screen Move to next/previous image while viewing full screen Ability to select a group of images for: move to / copy to directory delete resize ACDSee has a bunch of niceties as well, such as remembering directories you've moved images to in the past, remembering your resize settings, displaying the total size of the images you've selected, etc. I've tried most of the options I could find (including Xee) and none of them quite get there. Please keep in mind that this is a programming/library question, not a criticism of any of the existing tools.
