  • Thread-safe equivalent to python's time.strptime() ?

    - by Wells
    Something I wrote throws a lot of AttributeErrors when using time.strptime() inside a thread. This only seems to happen on Windows (not on Linux), but whatever…. Upon a'Googling, it seems that time.strptime() isn't considered thread-safe. Is there a better way to create a datetime object from a string? Current code looks like: val = DateFromTicks(mktime(strptime(val, '%B %d, %Y'))) But, that yields the AttributeErrors as its run inside a thread. Thanks!

  • How do you retrieve a list of logged-in/connected users in .NET?

    - by Engram
    Here's the scenario: You have a Windows server that users remotely connect to via RDP. You want your program (which runs as a service) to know who is currently connected. This may or may not include an interactive console session. Please note that this is the not the same as just retrieving the current interactive user. I'm guessing that there is some sort of API access to Terminal Services to get this info?

  • Flushing JDBC connection pools

    - by Matt
    Does anyone know the best (or any) way to flush a JDBC connection pool? I can't find anything obvious in the documentation. It appears connection pools aren't meant to ever be deleted. My current thought is to delete all DataSources from the hash we store them in, which will trigger our code to make new ones. However, my first attempt throws a ConcurrentModificationException.

  • Reading files in a webservice

    - by mouthpiec
    Hi, I have a webservice, in which I read the settings saved in an xml file. I read the setting by the following command: string dpath = HttpContext.Current.Request.PhysicalApplicationPath.ToString(); XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(dpath + "Settings.xml"); This is working perfectly when running the application on the localhost, but when I publish the webserver I am getting an error, most probably because the settings are not being loaded. Am I using the right command to read the file ? thanks

  • How to update a TextView on ButtonClick with Spinner(s) values

    - by source.rar
    Hi, I am trying to populate a TextView based on the current selected options in 3 Spinner(s) but cant seem to figure out how to retrieve the selected values from the Spinners to invoke the update function with. Here is my current code (quite messy but I'm just learning Java :)), public class AgeFun extends Activity { private String[] dayNames; private String[] yearArray; private final static int START_YEAR = 1990; private static TextView textDisp; private Button calcButton; private static Spinner spinnerDay, spinnerYear, spinnerMonth; private static ArrayAdapter<?> monthAdapter, dayAdapter, yearAdapter; private int year, month, day; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); year = 2000; month = 1; day = 1; textDisp = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textView1); calcButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button); calcButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { // Perform action on clicks AgeFun.updateAge(year, month, day); } }); // Month spinner spinnerMonth = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerFirst); monthAdapter = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.monthList, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item); monthAdapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); spinnerMonth.setAdapter(monthAdapter); // Day spinner dayNames = new String[31]; for(int i =1; i <= 31; ++i) { dayNames[i-1] = Integer.toString(i); } spinnerDay = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerSecond); dayAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<CharSequence>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, dayNames); spinnerDay.setAdapter(dayAdapter); // Year spinner yearArray = new String[40]; for(int i =0; i < 40; ++i) { yearArray[i] = Integer.toString(START_YEAR+i); } spinnerYear = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerThird); yearAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<CharSequence>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, yearArray); spinnerYear.setAdapter(yearAdapter); updateAge(2000,1,1); } private static void updateAge(int year, int month, int day) { Date dob = new GregorianCalendar(year, month, day).getTime(); Date currDate = new Date(); long age = (currDate.getTime() - dob.getTime()) / (1000 * 60 * 60 * 24) / 365; textDisp.setText("Your are " + Long.toString(age) + " years old"); } } Any help with this would be great.   • Why are my lines getting thicker and thicker?

    - by mystify
    I try to draw some lines with different colors. This code tries to draw two rectangles with 1px thin lines. However, the second rectangle is drawn with 2px width lines, while the first one is drawn with 1px width. - (void)addLineFrom:(CGPoint)p1 to:(CGPoint)p2 context:(CGContextRef)context { // set the current point CGContextMoveToPoint(context, p1.x, p1.y); // add a line from the current point to the wanted point CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, p2.x, p2.y); } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGPoint from, to; // ----- draw outer black frame (left, bottom, right) ----- CGContextBeginPath(context); // set the color CGFloat lineColor[4] = {26.0f * colorFactor, 26.0f * colorFactor, 26.0f * colorFactor, 1.0f}; CGContextSetStrokeColor(context, lineColor); // left from = CGPointZero; to = CGPointMake(0.0f, rect.size.height); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; // bottom from = to; to = CGPointMake(rect.size.width, rect.size.height); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; // right from = to; to = CGPointMake(rect.size.width, 0.0f); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; CGContextStrokePath(context); CGContextClosePath(context); // ----- draw the middle light gray frame (left, bottom, right) ----- CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 1.0f); CGContextBeginPath(context); // set the color CGFloat lineColor2[4] = {94.0f * colorFactor, 94.0f * colorFactor, 95.0f * colorFactor, 1.0f}; CGContextSetStrokeColor(context, lineColor2); // left from = CGPointMake(200.0f, 1.0f); to = CGPointMake(200.0f, rect.size.height - 2.0f); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; // bottom from = to; to = CGPointMake(rect.size.width - 2.0f, rect.size.height - 2.0f); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; // right from = to; to = CGPointMake(rect.size.width - 2.0f, 1.0f); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; // top from = to; to = CGPointMake(1.0f, 1.0f); [self addLineFrom:from to:to context:context]; CGContextStrokePath(context); }

Does anyone know of how this is done in C#?

  • accessing nth element (value) of a vector after sorting

    - by memC
    dear experts, This question is an extension of this question I asked. I have a std::vector vec_B.which stores instances of class Foo. The order of elements in this vector changes in the code. Now, I want to access the value of the current "last element" or current 'nth' element of the vector. If I use the code below to get the last element using getLastFoo() method, it doesn't return the correct value. For example, to begin with the last element of the vector has Foo.getNumber() = 9. After sorting it in descending order of num, for the last element, Foo.getNumber() = 0. But with the code below, it still returns 9.. that means it is still pointing to the original element that was the last element. What change should I make to the code below so that "lastFoo" points to the correct last element? class Foo { public: Foo(int i); ~Foo(){}; int getNum(); private: int num; }; Foo:Foo(int i){ num = i; } int Foo::getNum(){ return num; } class B { public: Foo* getLastFoo(); B(); ~B(){}; private: vector<Foo> vec_B; }; B::B(){ int i; for (i = 0; i< 10; i++){ vec_B.push_back(Foo(i)); } // Do some random changes to the vector vec_B so that elements are reordered. For // example rearrange elements in decreasing order of 'num' //... } Foo* B::getLastFoo(){ &vec_B.back(); }; int main(){ B b; Foo* lastFoo; lastFoo = b.getLastFoo() cout<<lastFoo->getNumber(); return 0; }

  • What is the best way of inserting a datetime value using dynamic sql

    - by jaffa
    What is the best way of inserting a datetime value using a dynamic sql string, whilst at the same time being able to handle the possibility of the value being null? The current statement inserts into a table from a select statement built using a string. The datetime value is stored in a parameter and the parameter is used in the select. Like so: set @execsql = 'Insert into ( start_date ) SELECT ( ''' + CAST(start_date as VARCHAR) + ''' + ')'

    If I wanted to have a collection that described the (recursive) contents of a root directory, including directories and files, how would I store them? Or do I need to come up with an object that holds: -Current directory -Parent directory -Files in directory ..and slap them all in one big list and manually work out the relationship at runtime from each entries Parent directory.

  • Three-way full outer join in SQLite

    - by Vince
    I have three tables with a common key field, and I need to join them on this key. Given SQLite doesn't have full outer or right joins, I've used the full outer join without right join technique on Wikipedia with much success. But I'm curious, how would one use this technique to join three tables by a common key? What are the efficiency impacts of this (the current query takes about ten minutes)? Thanks!
