  • VBScript: how to set values from recordset to string

    - by phill
This is probably a beginner question, but how do you set a recordset to a string variable? Here is my code: Function getOffice (strname, uname) strEmail = uname WScript.Echo "email: " & strEmail Dim objRoot : Set objRoot = GetObject("LDAP://RootDSE") Dim objDomain : Set objDomain = GetObject("LDAP://" & objRoot.Get("defaultNamingContext")) Dim cn : Set cn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Dim cmd : Set cmd = CreateObject("ADODB.Command") cn.Provider = "ADsDSOObject" cn.Open "Active Directory Provider" Set cmd.ActiveConnection = cn cmd.CommandText = "SELECT physicalDeliveryOfficeName FROM '" & objDomain.ADsPath & "' WHERE mail='" & strEmail & "'" cmd.Properties("Page Size") = 1 cmd.Properties("Timeout") = 300 cmd.Properties("Searchscope") = ADS_SCOPE_SUBTREE Dim objRS : Set objRS = cmd.Execute WScript.Echo objRS.Fields(0) Set cmd = Nothing Set cn = Nothing Set objDomain = Nothing Set objRoot = Nothing Dim arStore Set getOffice = objRS.Fields(0) Set objRS = Nothing End function When I try to run the function, it throws an error "vbscript runtime error: Type mismatch" I presume this means it can't set the string variable with a recordset value. How do I fix this problem?

  • Toastr.js notifications as modal notfication

    - by Maxsteel
I know it's not what toastr (or toast notifs in general) are meant to be used for, but I want to use them as a modal notification. My idea is following. On toast show: toastr.options.onShown = function() { //Create an overlay on the entire page} Overlay: #overlay { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); z-index: 999; position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; display: none; } And on toast close: toastr.options.onHidden = function() { //make overlay go away } Also, I'm setting timeout of toast to 0 so it won't disappear by itself. Question: I want the toast notification to stay atop the overlay and not behind it as overlay will cover everything. How can I do it?

  • why does $.ajax(..) not work for me?

    - by dr jerry
I'm running jquery from a file. And I'm trying to load a svg file from my localhost to populate a svg canvas. However that does not work as expected. What I do from filesystem: $.ajax({ url: url , timeout: 1000, complete: function(xml) { alert('complete'); }, success: function(xml, status, xreq) { alert('success'); }, error: function() { alert('error'); } }); the url reads: http://localhost/image.svg, when I read this url directly from an addressbar from the browser, the pages remains white but the pagesource displays the source of image.svg. Debugging the $.ajax code above, reveals that the success: method is hit, but xml response remains empty. Any help is greatly appreciated. regards, jeroen.

  • ASP.NET Ajax Error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException

    - by Phil Bennett
My website has been giving me intermittent errors when trying to perform any Ajax activities. The message I get is Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' So its obviously some sort of server timeout or the server's just returning back mangled garbage. This generally, unfortunately not always, happens when the site has been idle for a while. Anybody else been able to overcome this? Thanks

  • Sending out 20,000+ emails with asp.net

    - by Kyle
I am writing an application that will need to send a massive amount of emails to our students who will be selected from our database (each email will be personalized to the extent that will include their name, course of study etc...so needs to be sent one at a time). I could do this looping over an SmtpClient, but I'm afraid that with the numbers I'm trying to send, I'll ultimately run into timeout issues or my thread being killed because of lack of machine resources. At this point I'm just looking for suggestions of a better way to handle this, or if looping over SmtpClient is an ok solution, how I should go about handling it to prevent what I posted above. Would a web service be a better alternative? Please advise, TIA

  • How to implement a log window in a web browser?

    - by Jeremy Friesner
Hi all, I'm interested in adding an HTML/web-browser based "log window" to my net-enabled device. Specifically, my device has a customized web server and an event log, and I'd like to be able to leave a web browser window open to e.g. http://my.devices.ip.address/system_log and have events show up as text in the web browser window as they happen. People could then use this as a quick way to monitor what the system is doing, without needing run any special software. My question is, what is the best way to implement this? I've tried the obvious approach -- just have my device's embedded web server hold the HTTP/TCP connection open indefinitely, and write the necessary text to the TCP socket when an event occurs -- but the problem with that is that most web browsers (e.g. Safari) don't display the web page until the server has closed the TCP connection has been closed, and so the result is that the log data never appears in the web browser, it just acts as if the page is taking forever to load. Is there some trick to make this work? I could implement it as a Java applet, but I'd much prefer something more lightweight/simple, either using only HTML or possibly HTML+JavaScript. Also I'd like to avoid having the web browser 'poll' the server, since that would either introduce too much latency (if the reload delay was large) or put load on the system (if the delay was small)

  • Running Long Process: Indexing 5GB docs with Lucene

    - by Robert Dondo
Situation:I have an ASP .NET application that will search through docs using Lucene. I want to run the initial indexing (the index will be incremental after the initial run so there wont be need to index the whole directory again in future). Currently, I have about 5GB of docs (45000files). Problem: My application times out before completing the process. I have altered the TimeOut like this: HttpContext.Current.Server.ScriptTimeout = 200000; but it still does not complete the process. How can I run the index?

  • How to implement dual communication between server and client via http

    - by Alex Sebastiano
I have a AJAX client which must receive messages from server. Some messages from server not like request-response type. For example, imaging game in which players can enter. Server must send to client info about player entering. But how can server send message to client via http without request from client? Only decision that i can invent: client send request to server (getNewPlayerEnter request) with big timeout, server checks state of player set, if in set new players are, then server send info to client, if not server 'sleeps' on some time, and after 'sleeping' server checks players set again. I think my desicion a little stupid(maybe not little). How implement it right? p.s. sorry for my english

  • Echoing users by group name in PHP

    - by BobSapp
What I want to do is click a name of a group(every group what I create other than poweruser and admin groups) and that will echo all of the users in that group from the database. I have figured out the code so far but now my problem is how will I print it all out when clicking the name of the group? My code so far is: <h3>Groups</h3> <?php include('db.php'); if (isset($_GET["groupID"])) { $sql="SELECT `group`.*, `user`.* FROM `user` inner join `group` on group.groupID=user.groupID where group.groupID= " . mysql_real_escape_string($_GET["groupID"]) ; } else { $sql="SELECT * FROM `group` WHERE groupName <> 'admin' AND groupName <> 'poweruser'" ; } $result=mysql_query($sql,$connection); while($line=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo "<a href='index.php?page=groups&group=".$line['groupID']."'>".$line['groupName'].'</a><br />'; } mysql_free_result($result); mysql_close($connection); ?>

  • Just an experiment changing the application data path

    - by Arthur
When I change the Appication Data path in windows xp registry to a network folder I get this error message on the next system startup: "windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile system" The registry keys are: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]" "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]" under the names "AppData" and "Local AppData" I dont care if "Windows logins you with the default profile system" but is there a way to disable that message, or change the message timeout form 30 seconds to 0?,or maybe create an script that changes the Application Data path every system startup? P.S. The computer with the shared folder is always on.

  • What can cause forms authentication to forget you are logged in?

    - by metanaito
I have an asp.net web site that uses forms authentication. When users check the "remember me" it will remember the user if they close the browser and come back. I have the timeout set for a day or so. Recently I've noticed that I can be browsing the site and suddenly it forgets I'm logged in. It does not happen after 20 minutes as I can be actively browsing. My question is, what can cause this to happen? If the server recycles the app or app pool will the login be lost? On my local I can restart my machine and when I come back I'm still logged in.

  • Process.WaitForExit not triggering with __debugbreak

    - by Cypher2100
I'm trying to write a program to test student code against a good implementation. I have a C++ console app that will run one test at a time determined by the command line args and a C# .net forms app that calls the c++ app once for each test. The goal is to be able to detect not just pass/fail for each test, but also "infinite" (5secs) loop and exceptions (their code dying for whatever reason). The problem is that not all errors kill the C++ app. If they corrupt the heap the system calls __debugbreak which pops up a window saying Debug Error! HEAP CORRUPTION DETECTED... My C# app is using Process.WaitForExit(5000) to wait, but this error doesn't count as an exit, so I see a timeout. So my question is, how can I either get the C# app to detect that this is an error OR how can I get the C++ app to die when this error occurs rather than giving a dialog box and asking if I want to debug?

  • how to get apache mod_cache work with mod_wsgi (django)?

    - by harmv
I thought i'd speed up my django projects, by letting apache doing some caching for me. Unfortunately I see that apache never caches my dynamic pages. Has mod_cache problems with mod_wsgi served code ? My apache config: <VirtualHost *:80 ServerName myserver.com CacheEnable mem / # for testing only CacheIgnoreQueryString On CacheIgnoreCacheControl On WSGIDaemonProcess aname processes=1 threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup aname Alias /media/ /home/harm/projects/test/media/ WSGIScriptAlias / /home/harm/projects/test/wsgi.py The response does have the correct caching headers: Content-Length 2647 Content-Encoding gzip Vary Accept-Encoding Cache-Control public, max-age=3600 Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Content-Type application/x-javascript Am I missing something ?

  • IIS doesn't send two responses to the same client at the same time (only for ASP)

    - by dr. evil
I've got 2 ASP pages. I do a request to the first page from Firefox (which takes 30 seconds to process on server-side), and during the execution of 30 seconds I do another request from Firefox to the second page (takes less than 1 second in server-side), but it does come after 31 second. Because it waits first requests to finish. When I request to the first page from Firefox and then request the second page from IE it's just instant. So basically ASP - IIS 6 somehow limiting every client to one request (long processing request) at a time. I need to get around this problem in my .NET client application. This is tested in 3 different systems. If you want to test you can try the ASP scripts at the end. This behaviour is same in a long SQL execution or just in a time consuming ASP operation. Note: It's not about HTTP Keep Alive It's not about persistent connection limit (we tried to increase this in firefox and in .NET with Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit) It's not about User Agent This doesn't happen in ASP.NET so I assume it's something to the with ASP.dll I'm trying to solve this on the client not the server. I don't have direct control over the server it's a 3rd party solution. Is there any way to get around this? Sample ASP Code: First ASP: <% Set cnn = Server.CreateObject("Adodb.Connection") cnn.Open "Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=master;User Id=sa;Password=;" cnn.Execute("WAITFOR DELAY '0:0:30'") cnn.Close %> Second ASP: <% Response.Write "bla bla" %>

  • ADO.NET Data Services Media type requires a ';' character before a parameter definition.

    - by idahosaedokpayi
I am experimenting with ADO.NET and I am seeing this error on the second attempt to browse the service: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?> <error xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata"> <code /> <message xml:lang="en-US">Media type requires a ';' character before a parameter definition.</message> </error> The first attempt is normal. I am working with an exactly identical service on an internal development network and it is fine. I am including my connection string: <add name="J4Entities" connectionString="metadata=res://*;provider=System.Data.SqlClient;provider connection string=&quot;Data Source=MNSTSQL01N;Initial Catalog=J4;Integrated Security=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True&quot;" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient"/> and my Data service class: using System; using System.Data.Services; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.ServiceModel.Web; public class Data : DataService< J4Model.J4Entities > { // This method is called only once to initialize service-wide policies. public static void InitializeService(IDataServiceConfiguration config) { // TODO: set rules to indicate which entity sets and service operations are visible, updatable, etc. // Examples: config.SetEntitySetAccessRule("*", EntitySetRights.AllRead); // config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("MyServiceOperation", ServiceOperationRights. All); } } Is there something obvious I am not doing?

  • Is there an easy way in Python to wait until certain condition is true?

    - by Checkers
I need to wait in a script until a certain number of conditions become true? I know I can roll my own eventing using condition variables and friends, but I don't want to go through all the trouble of implementing it, since some object property changes come from external thread in a wrapped C++ library (Boost.Python), so I can't just hijack __setattr__ in a class and put a condition variable there, which leaves me with either trying to create and signal a Python condition variable from C++, or wrap a native one and wait on it in Python, both of which sound fiddly, needlessly complicated and boring. Is there an easier way to do it, barring continuous polling of the condition? Ideally it would be along the lines of res = wait_until(lambda: some_predicate, timeout) if (not res): print 'timed out'

  • Append data to same text file

    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyyyy_HHmmSS"); String strCurrDate = formatter.format(new java.util.Date()); String strfileNm = "Customer_" + strCurrDate + ".txt"; String strFileGenLoc = strFileLocation + "/" + strfileNm; String Query1="select '0'||to_char(sysdate,'YYYYMMDD')||'123456789' class_code from dual"; String Query2="select '0'||to_char(sysdate,'YYYYMMDD')||'123456789' class_code from dual"; try { Statement stmt = null; ResultSet rs = null; Statement stmt1 = null; ResultSet rs1 = null; stmt = conn.createStatement(); stmt1 = conn.createStatement(); rs = stmt.executeQuery(Query1); rs1 = stmt1.executeQuery(Query2); File f = new File(strFileGenLoc); OutputStream os = (OutputStream)new FileOutputStream(f,true); String encoding = "UTF8"; OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(os, encoding); BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(osw); while (rs.next() ) { bw.write(rs.getString(1)==null?   • Listening socket

    - by hoodoos
I got a strange problem, I never actually expirienced this before, here is the code of the server (client is firefox in this case), the way I create it: _Socket = new Socket( AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp ); _Socket.Bind( new IPEndPoint( Settings.IP, Settings.Port ) ); _Socket.Listen( 1000 ); _Socket.Blocking = false; the way i accept connection: while( _IsWorking ) { if( listener.Socket.Poll( -1, SelectMode.SelectRead ) ) { Socket clientSocket = listener.Socket.Accept(); clientSocket.Blocking = false; clientSocket.SetSocketOption( SocketOptionLevel.Tcp, SocketOptionName.NoDelay, true ); } } So I'm expecting it hang on listener.Socket.Poll till new connection comes, but after first one comes it hangs on poll forever. I tried to poll it constantly with smaller delay, let's say 10 microseconds, then it never goes in SelectMode.SelectRead. I guess it maybe somehow related on client's socket reuse? Maybe I don't shutdown client socket propertly and client(firefox) decides to use an old socket? I disconnect client socket this way: Context.Socket.Shutdown( SocketShutdown. Both ); // context is just a wrapper around socket Context.Socket.Close(); What may cause that problem?

  • FastCGI C++ program and missing SCRIPT_NAME

    - by Simone Margaritelli
Hi guys, i'm studying the fastcgi developement kit because i'm writing a new scripting language and i'd like to write a fastcgi version of the interpreter to run scripts as webpages. I'm using this example from the sdk, located at /srv/http/bin/echocpp So, in my httpd.conf file, i have the following lines : FastCgiServer /srv/http/bin/echocpp -idle-timeout 120 -processes 4 ScriptAlias / /srv/http/bin/echocpp/ ... ... AddHandler fastcgi-script hy Where 'hy' is the extensions of my scripts. Then, when i try browse, for instance http://localhost/~evilsocket/prime.hy I see all the environment variables as expected from the echo-cpp.cpp programm, except for the SCRIPT_NAME that is empty. Is there something i'm missing out of this? How am i supposed to obtain the full path of the script to run it inside my fastcgi version of the interpreter? Thanks

  • .NET C# MouseEnter listener on a Control WITH Scrollbar

    - by Run CMD
As long as the mouse is over a specific control, we show some form. When the mouse leaves the control, we hide the control after a small timeout. This is standard hover behavior. However, when a control (for example a Treeview) has a scrollbar, and the mouse is ON or OVER the scrollbar, the events don't fire ... If we could get a reference to the scrollbar control, this would solve our problem, as we would add the same listener events to the scrollbar. However, the scrollbar isn't accessible as far as I know ... How can we solve this problem ?

  • How to stop listening on an HTTP::Daemon port in Perl

    - by Trevor
    I have a basic perl HTTP server using HTTP::Daemon. When I stop and start the script, it appears that the port is still being listened on and I get an error message saying that my HTTP::Daemon instance is undefined. If I try to start the script about a minute after it has stopped, it works fine and can bind to the port again. Is there any way to stop listening on the port when the program terminates instead of having to wait for it to timeout? use HTTP::Daemon; use HTTP::Status; my $d = new HTTP::Daemon(LocalAddr => 'localhost', LocalPort => 8000); while (my $c = $d->accept) { while (my $r = $c->get_request) { $c->send_error(RC_FORBIDDEN) } $c->close; undef($c); }

  • Android: Problems downloading images and converting to bitmaps

    - by Mike
Hi all, I am working on an application that downloads images from a url. The problem is that only some images are being correctly downloaded and others are not. First off, here is the problem code: public Bitmap downloadImage(String url) { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpResponse response = null; try { response = client.execute(new HttpGet(url)); } catch (ClientProtocolException cpe) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "client protocol exception"); return null; } catch (IOException ioe) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "IOE downloading image"); return null; } catch (Exception e) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "Other exception downloading image"); return null; } // Convert images from stream to bitmap object try { Bitmap image = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(response.getEntity().getContent()); if(image==null) Log.i(LOG_FILE, "image conversion failed"); return image; } catch (Exception e) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "Other exception while converting image"); return null; } } So what I have is a method that takes the url as a string argument and then downloads the image, converts the HttpResponse stream to a bitmap by means of the BitmapFactory.decodeStream method, and returns it. The problem is that when I am on a slow network connection (almost always 3G rather than Wi-Fi) some images are converted to null--not all of them, only some of them. Using a Wi-Fi connection works perfectly; all the images are downloaded and converted properly. Does anyone know why this is happening? Or better, how can I fix this? How would I even go about testing to determine the problem? Any help is awesome; thank you!

  • breaking out from socket select

    - by kamziro
I have a loop which basically calls this every few seconds (after the timeout): while(true){ if(finished) return; switch(select(FD_SETSIZE, &readfds, 0, 0, &tv)){ case SOCKET_ERROR : report bad stuff etc; return; default : break; } // do stuff with the incoming connection } So basically for every few seconds (which is specified by tv), it reactivates the listening. This is run on thread B (not a main thread). There are times when I want to end this acceptor loop immediately from thread A (main thread), but seems like I have to wait until the time interval finishes.. Is there a way to disrupt the select function from another thread so thread B can quit instantly?
