With jQuery version 1.2.2 the result is: array(26) { ["id"]=> string(5) "18204" ["order_number"]=> string(5) "18250" Which is OK. Any clues? Thx

  I'm trying to write life in F# using accelerator v2, but for some odd reason my output isn't square despite all my arrays being square - It appears that everything but a rectangular area in the top left of the matrix is being set to false. I've got no idea how this could be happening as all my operations should treat the entire array equally.   Hi. I'm working on my assignment on pthreads. I'm new and never touched on pthreads before. Is there any sample codes or resources out there that anyone of you have, that might aid me in my assignment? Here are my assignment details. A pthread program about queue system: Write a C/C++ Pthread program for a Dental clinic’s queuing system that declares an array of integers of size N, where N is the maximum number of queue for the day. The pthread program uses two threads. Whenever there is a new dental appointment, the first thread (the creator) puts the queue numbers in the array, one after the other. The second thread (the remover) removes the queue numbers from the array whenever the dentist has seen the patient. This is done in a FIFO fashion (First In First Out). The algorithm of the creator is as follows: • If the array is not full then put a new number in it (the numbers start at 1 and are incremented by one each time, so the creator create queue number 1, 2, 3 etc.) • sleep for 1 to 10 seconds, randomly • repeat The algorithm of the remover is as follows: • If the array is not empty then remove its smallest queue number • sleep for 1 to 10 seconds, randomly • repeat You should use mutex locks to protect things that must be protected. Each thread should print on the screen what it is doing (eg: "number 13 is added into the queue", "number 7 is removed from the queue", etc.). The program should run forever. • Import and Export for CSV are both broken in Mathematica

  Consider the following 2 by 2 array: x = {{"a b c", "1,2,3"}, {"i \"comma-heart\" you", "i \",heart\" u, too"}} If we Export that to CSV and then Import it again we don't get the same thing back: Import[Export["tmp.csv", d]] Looking at tmp.csv it's clear that the Export didn't work, since the quotes are not escaped properly. According to the RFC which I presume is summarized correctly on Wikipedia's entry on CSV, the right way to export the above array is as follows: a b c, "1,2,3" "i ""heart"" you", "i "",heart"" u, too" Importing the above does not yield the original array either. So Import is broken as well. I've reported these bugs to [email protected] but I'm wondering if others have workarounds in the meantime. One workaround is to just use TSV instead of CSV. I tested the above with TSV and it seems to work (even with tabs embedded in the entries of the array).

Here is what I have: Threads table ThreadID (Primary Key/Identity Column) Polls table PollID (Primary Key, FK for ThreadID for one-to-one relation) Question PollOptions table PollOptionID (Identity/Primary Key) Text PollID PollVotes table PollVoteID (Primary Key/Identity) PollOptionID I'm not sure if this is a proper relationship. It seems wrong but I'm not sure whats wrong with it. A Thread can have 0 or 1 Poll. A Poll can have 2 or more PollOptions. A PollOption can have 0 or many PollVotes. I'm going to be using Entity Framework and before I generate the code for it (VS 2010, .NET 4) I want to make sure I have the proper relationship mapping.

  In my JSF/Facelets application, I want to dynamically generate a breadcrumb trail from a list of page IDs using a custom tag: <foo:breadcrumbs trail="foo,bar,baz"/> This should generate something like: <h:commandLink action="foo" ... /> <h:commandLink action="bar" ... /> <!-- (etc.) --> My code looks something like this: <ui:repeat value="#{fn:split(trail, ',')}" var="key"> <h:commandLink action="#{key}" ... /> </ui:repeat> The problem with this code is that #{key} is interpreted as a method binding. However, I just want the string value of #{key} to be returned as the navigation outcome. How can I achieve this? The only thing I could think of was creating a dummy managed-bean that has an outcome field and an action handler, and invoke it like so: <h:commandLink action="#{dummy.click}" ...> <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{dummy.outcome}" value="#{key}" /> </h:commandLink> with the dummy class defined like so: public class Dummy { private String outcome; public String click() { return outcome; } public void setOutcome(String outcome) { this.outcome = outcome; } public void getOutcome() { return outcome; } } That seems ugly though, and I don't know if it would work.

• Does C99 guarantee that arrays are contiguous ?

  Following an hot comment thread in another question, I came to debate of what is and what is not defined in C99 standard about C arrays. Basically when I define a 2D array like int a[5][5], does the standard C99 garantee or not that it will be a contiguous block of ints, can I cast it to (int *)a and be sure I will have a valid 1D array of 25 ints. As I understand the standard the above property is implicit in the sizeof definition and in pointer arithmetic, but others seems to disagree and says casting to (int*) the above structure give an undefined behavior (even if they agree that all existing implementations actually allocate contiguous values). More specifically, if we think an implementation that would instrument arrays to check array boundaries for all dimensions and return some kind of error when accessing 1D array, or does not give correct access to elements above 1st row. Could such implementation be standard compilant ? And in this case what parts of the C99 standard are relevant.

• Passing Variable Length Arrays to a function

  I have a variable length array that I am trying to pass into a function. The function will shift the first value off and return it, and move the remaining values over to fill in the missing spot, putting, let's say, a -1 in the newly opened spot. I have no problem passing an array declared like so: int framelist[128]; shift(framelist); However, I would like to be able to use a VLA declared in this manner: int *framelist; framelist = malloc(size * sizeof(int)); shift(framelist); I can populate the arrays the same way outside the function call without issue, but as soon as I pass them into the shift function, the one declared in the first case works fine, but the one in the second case immediately gives a segmentation fault. Here is the code for the queue function, which doesn't do anything except try to grab the value from the first part of the array... int shift(int array[]) { int value = array[0]; return value; } Any ideas why it won't accept the VLA? I'm still new to C, so if I am doing something fundamentally wrong, let me know.

  I am still quite puzzled at the BiMap in Google collections/Guava. It was claimed that The two bimaps are backed by the same data; any changes to one will appear in the other. I browsed through the source code, and I found the use of delegate in ForwardingMap. But in any actually subclass of StandardBiMap, I do see the data are put into both the forward and reverse map. So what is the essence, and why it claims to have saved space by keeping only one copy of the data? To me that seems rather slow as we're only talking about a million rows of data. What can I do to optimize the insert of this data? (already using disable keys) G-Man

• Destructuring assignment in JavaScript

  As can be seen in the Mozilla changlog for JavaScript 1.7 they have added destructuring assignment. Sadly I'm not very fond of the syntax (why write a and b twice?): var a, b; [a, b] = f(); Something like this would have been a lot better: var [a, b] = f(); That would still be backwards compatible. Python-like destructuring would not be backwards compatible. Anyway the best solution for JavaScript 1.5 that I have been able to come up with is: function assign(array, map) { var o = Object(); var i = 0; $.each(map, function(e, _) { o[e] = array[i++]; }); return o; } Which works like: var array = [1,2]; var _ = assign[array, { var1: null, var2: null }); _.var1; // prints 1 _.var2; // prints 2 But this really sucks because _ has no meaning. It's just an empty shell to store the names. But sadly it's needed because JavaScript doesn't have pointers. On the plus side you can assign default values in the case the values are not matched. Also note that this solution doesn't try to slice the array. So you can't do something like {first: 0, rest: 0}. But that could easily be done, if one wanted that behavior. What is a better solution?

E.g. Thing would use 'id' for all of it's other associations but use 'thing_status_id' for it's Status association. How can I best do this?
