  I have a WIX installer that executes Custom Actions over the course of install. When I run the WIX installer, and it encounters its first Custom Action, the installer fails out, and I receive an error in the MSI log as follows: Action start 12:03:53: LoadBCAConfigDefaults. • Why does Sharepoint 2010 Web Reference work, but Service Reference does not

  Sharepoint is setup to use NTLM authentication. When I reference http://myserver/Sites/Ops/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx?WSDL as a Web Reference, I can call the methods and get valid responses. When I reference the same url as a Service Reference, the server throws an exception when calling methods. My account is admin on the Sharepoint Farm. UPDATE: I tried Rob's suggestion and got this error: HTTP GET Error URI: http://myserver/Sites/Ops/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx The document at the url http://myserver/Sites/Ops/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx was not recognized as a known document type. • Debugging XSLT with extension objects in Visual Studio 2010

  I'm currently working on a project that involves a lot of XSLT transformations and I really need a debugger (I have XSLTs that are 1000+ lines long and I didn't write them :-). The project is written in C# and makes use of extension objects: xslArg.AddExtensionObject("urn:<obj>", new <Obj>()); From my knowledge, in this situation Visual Studio is the only tool that can help me debug the transformations step-by-step. The static debugger is no use because of the extension objects (it throws an error when it reaches elements that reference their namespace). Fortunately, I've found this thread which gave me a starting point (at least I know it can be done). After searching MSDN, I found the criteria that makes stepping into the transform possible. They are listed here. In short: the XML and the XSLT must be loaded via a class that has the IXmlLineInfo interface (XmlReader & co.) the XML resolver used in the XSLTCompiledTransform constructor is file-based (XmlUriResolver should work). the stylesheet should be on the local machine or on the intranet (?) From what I can tell, I fit all these criteria, but it still doesn't work. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • Force SSRS 2008 to use SSRS 2005 CSV rendering

  We are upgrading our report server from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 R2. I have an issue with CSV export rendering for SSRS 2008 where the SUM of columns are appearing on the right side of the detail values in 2008 instead of the left side like in 2005 as shown in the below blocks. 117 and 131 are the sums of Column2 and Column3 respectively. SSRS 2005 CSV Output Column2_1,Column3_1,Column2,Column3 117,131,1,2 117,131,1,2 117,131,60,23 117,131,30,15 117,131,25,89 SSRS 2008 CSV Output Column2,Column3,Column2_1,Column3_1 1,2,117,131 1,2,117,131 60,23,117,131 30,15,117,131 25,89,117,131 I understand that the CSV renderer has gone through major changes in SSRS 2008 R2 with the support for charts and gauges and more importantly it provides 2 modes: the default Excel mode and Compliant mode. But neither mode helps fix this issue. The Compliant mode was supposed to be closest to that of 2005 but apparently it is not close enough for my case. My Question: Is there a way to force SSRS 2008 fall back a report to a backward compatibility mode so that it exports into a 2005 CSV format? Solution tried: a) Using 2005-based CRIs Based on this article on ExecutionLog2, if SSRS 2008 R2 encounters a report whose auto-upgrade is not possible (e.g. reports that were built with 2005-based CustomReportItem controls), those particular reports will be processed with the old Yukon engine in a "transparent backwards-compatibility mode". It seems like it falls back to its previous version mode (2005) and attempts to render it. So I tried using a 2005-based barcode CustomReportItem and deployed to a SSRS 2008 R2 report server, but it shows the same result as before though it suppressed the barcode. This would be because SSRS 2008 R2 finds a way to suppress part of the report output and displays the rest. It would be great to find a 2005-based CRI that makes SSRS 2008 R2 process it with its old Yukon engine. Please note that quite possibly, even if it uses the "old Yukon processing engine", it might still use the new CSV renderer hence it shows the same output. If that is true, then this option is moot. b) Using XML renderer We can use a custom XML renderer and then use XSLT to convert the xml to appropriate CSV but this would mean that we need to convert all our 200 reports. Hence this is not feasible. Please note that we do not have the option of having SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 R2 deployed side by side.

  I'm using the WebServiceHostFactory in my WCF services to avoid having to create a crapton of binding configuration in web.config. However, I'd like to expose the services as XML/JSON and JSONP. Reading: http://jasonkelly.net/archive/2009/02/24/using-jquery-amp-jsonp-for-cross-domain-ajax-with-wcf-services.aspx It does not look like I can extend WCF to add JSONP without resorting to a mountain of custom binding config. So, for those who have done it, is it possible to have a restful WCF service that responds in XML/JSON/JSONP depending on the UriTemplate, without resorting to a ton of config wiring?

• Automatically extracting inline XSD from WSDL into XSD file(s)

  I am using a third party Web Service whose definition and implementation are beyond my control. This web service will change in the future. The Web Service should be used to generate an XML file which contains some of the same data (represented by the same XSD types) as the Web Service plus some extra information generated by the program. My approach: create my own XSD referring to the XSD definitions of the WSDL of the called web service (This XSD also includes XSD types for the extra information obviously.) use a Java XML databinding framework (like ADB or JiXB) to generate the databinding classes from my own XSD file from step 1 use a Java SOAP framework (like Axis2 or CXF) with the same databinding framework to generate the databinding classes from the WSDL (This would enable me to use the objects retrieved by the web service directly in the generation of the XML.) The XSD types I am going to use in my own XSD file, but are defined in the WSDL, are subject to change. Whenever they change, I would like to automatically process the XSD and WSDL databinding again. (If the change is significant enough, this might trigger some development effort.(But usually not.)) My problem: In step 1 I need an XSD referring to the same types as used by the Web Service. The WSDL is referring to another WSDL, which is referring to another WSDL etc. Eventually there is an WSDL with the needed inline XSD types. As far as I know there is no way to directly reference the inline XSD types of a WSDL from an XSD. The approach I would think most viable, is to include an extra step in the automatic processing (before the databinding) that extracts the inline XSD from the WSDL into other XSD file(s). These other XSD file(s) can then be referred to by my own XSD file. Things I'd like to avoid: Manually copy pasting the inline XSD into an XSD file (I am looking for an automatic process.) Any manual steps.(Like the determining the WSDL that contains the inline types manually.(The location of that WSDL does change as well.)) Using xsd:any in my own XSD. I would like my own XSD file to be correct. Using a non-Java technology(like .NET) Huge amounts of implementation (but hints on how you would implement such an extraction are welcome anyway) PS: I found some similar questions, but they all had responses like: WTH would you want to do that? • Intellij Community can't use http proxy for Maven

  I have Intellij IDEA Community installed on a Linux box that needs to use an authenticated proxy to get to the Internet. I have a system-wide proxy on the box that works, and I have the proxy configured in ~/.m2/settings.xml. Maven correctly uses the proxy when I run try it from the command-line. I have the same proxy configured within Intellij and it gives me the plugins listing correctly. But when I try to sync with the Maven repository withing Intellij I keep getting this: [WARNING] Unable to get resource 'org.codehaus.mojo:hibernate3-maven-plugin:pom:2.2' from repository restlet (http://maven.restlet.org): Authorization failed: Not authorized by proxy. I went to Settings-Maven and put in the proxy info as properties and that didn't work. I can see by looking at those settings that Intellij is reading my ~./m2/settings.xml fine because it knows where my local repo is (it's in a non-standard place). Anyone know how I can get this working?

• Webservice Jira gives: Error: No such operation 'getIssuesFromJqlSearch' from Jira 4.01

  When I use the Webservice of Jira, I need to use the method getIssuesFromJqlSearch to describe a certain (JQL) Query. But it returns me "No such operation 'getIssuesFromJqlSearch'". Is this method in Jira 4.01 not implemented yet? BTW: I need a method to get all Issues from one specific project, without creating filters first. This was my first way to find a workaround, because there is no function getIssuesFromProject. If there is no way to fix the problem with the JQL method, I try to take RSS XML View with the URL jql statement like SearchRequest.xml?jqlQuery=project+%3D+Testproject&tempMax=1000. But this is not my favorite.

• Java native methods issues with SUN JVM (jdk1.5.0_14) and multi-core CPU’s

  We are hosting an application on SUN JVM that handles a lot of XML parsing using Jaxb. The application is parsing the XML fine using JRockit 5 but when using the SUN JVM the JVM spends a majority of it’s time on native methods such as java-lang.System.arraycopy, java.lang.String.intern and java.lang.ClassLoader.getPackage. The CPU load is approx. 60% higher when using SUN JVM compared with JRockit. Even stranger is that when we only run the application server using one core (in WMWare) the problem disappears.   I'm trying to use WCF to consume a web service provided by a third-party's Oracle Application Server. I pass a username and password in a UsernameToken as part of the request and as part of the response the web service returns a standard security tag in the header which includes a digest and signature. With my current setup, I successfully send a request to the server and the web service sends the expected response data back. However, when parsing the response WCF throws a MessageSecurityException, with an InnerException.Message of "Supporting token signatures not expected." My guess is that WCF wants me to configure it to handle the signature and verify it. I have a certificate from the third party that hosts the web service that I should be able to use to verify the signature, although I'm not sure if I'll need it. For 24 versions it has been working perfectly - now, on version 25 I get the following error once the application has installed and it launches: If I test a previous deployment on the same machine, it works. Where can I even begin to look to find the cause of this error? I already checked the windows event logs - nothing. EDIT: I noticed that while the dialog is displayed, a temporary xml file 'WER561D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml' is generated in my temp folder.   I am using a PreferenceActivity to let the user set some values. I am feeding it the xml file with the defined preferences. I have set all the android:defaultValue="" for them. When I start my application, I need the preferences, or if they are not set yet manually, I want the default values: SharedPreferences prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); boolean value = prefs.getBoolean("key"), false); However, when android:defaultValue="true" I still get false. So, it looks like the defaultValues set in the XML are not used anywhere but when initializing the preferences-screen. I don't want to hardcode the default values in the getBoolean() method. So, is there a way get the default-values with only defining these in 1 place?

  I'm trying to find the best (efficient) way of doing this. I have a medium sized XML document. Depending on specific settings certain portions of it need to be filtered out for security reasons. I'll be doing this in XSLT as it's configurable and no code should need changing. I've looked around, but not getting much luck on it. For example: I have the following XPath: //*[@root='2.16.840.1.113883.3.51.1.1.6.1'] Whicrooth gives me all nodes with a root attribute equal to a specific OID. In these nodes I want to have all attributes except for a few (ex. foo and bar) erased, and then having another attribute added (ex. reason) I also need to have multiple XPath expressions that can be ran to zero down on a specific node and clear it's contents out in a similar fashion, with respect to nodes with specific attributes. I'm playing around with information from: XPath expression to select all XML child nodes except a specific list? and XSLT Remove Elements and/or Attributes by Name per XSL Parameters Will update shortly when I can have access what what I"ve done so far.
