  Recently a colleague remarked that if he got a List of some type out of the ASP.NET Cache, and changed an item, the Cache item would also change.That is correct. Session (InProc) , Cache and Application all return "live" references. • Which ubuntu I shoul use for old desktop

  I have an old computer which has 512MB RAM and 128MB Graphic card. It has windows 95 currently, it loads fine but it has some issues with Internet connection and pendrive. I am tired of solving problems. I booted live CD of ubuntu 10.10. It loads slow and some diplay problems. But it resolved my internet problem and pendrive. So I want install ubuntu which is equivalent to windows 95 in boot, application load, graphics level. Can anyone suggest unbuntu version? What about xbuntu?

• Backup systems config files

  I'm planning on installing nVidia proprietary drivers on my Ubuntu 10.10. Historically this always ends-up with me being left with no graphical interface. No ability to revert - and reinstalling the whole system. So now, before trying this anew, I wish to backup all relevant config files. I'll try 1 or 2 methods. I'll list each one's commands. I'll appreciate if anyone can tell me how to backup the relevant file, or what's the reverse of this operation. 10x, David Method I - as described here: apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau As described in this answer: edit /etc/default/grub and add the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nouveau.modeset=0" sudo update-grub Reboot Install original drivers downloaded from nVidia site.   As ably reported in the Oracle Technology Network blog, the Oracle Develop Conference's content catalog is now public (as are the catalogs for JavaOne and Oracle OpenWorld), meaning you can now explore technical sessions scheduled for the conf to your heart's content."But something's missing", you may tell yourself. "Where is my favorite subject, the one I happen to also be an expert on?" Well, there's good news for you, too: The Suggest-A-Session project has returned. It works thus: Submit a session idea via Oracle Mix and ask your colleagues, Oracle Mix community, friends and anyone else you know to vote for your session. (You must be an Oracle Mix member to vote.) Voting is open through June 20. For the most part, the top voted sessions will be selected for the Oracle Develop Conf (or Oracle OpenWorld) official agenda. • How do I implement smooth movement in a Box2D platform game?

  I have implemented a character in JBox2D which moves with the help of a wheel rotating at the bottom of it. The movement is the best result I've had 'till now but it's a little glitchy when the character stands on the edge. So I am thinking should I use five smaller wheels instead of a big wheel. The wheel/wheels will not be visible in the finished product, now they are drawn for debugging. Here is a video. Is there a better way to do this using JBox2D?

• Access secondary hard disk from Virtual Machine

  I have a fairly specific question. I had Ubuntu on my Laptop (for years). For a variety of reasons, I've had to switch to Windows but the computer has two hard drives. The main drive was reformatted and I've installed windows. The second hard drive still has the Linux system disk format (not sure on type). Obviously, windows can't access it but can I access it from a Virtual machine (VirtualBox) or will I need to load up a Live-Session to access / move the contents? Edit: If this is possible, how would one proceed to mount the disk?

• How can I inform search engines that the usefulness of some content on my site has a limited shelf life?

  Let's say that I run a forum dedicated to computer hardware. Naturally, people are going to ask questions like: What is the best laptop for running [os] Or What is the best video card for under [amount] These may be perfectly fine discussions, but the content loses usefulness over time. An answer to either question asked in 2007 might still be relevant in 2008, but definitely not in 2012. Is there a way that I can tell search engines that certain pages might not give visitors what they're looking for after a certain date, and perhaps hint to a page on my site that would provide good information? Perhaps something I could set in HTTP response headers, meta tags or even a site map?

• Programmatically adding metatags to Masterpages in Web Forms and MVC [migrated]

  Has anyone got any ideas on where we should be adding our SEO metadata in a Web Forms project? Why I ask is that currently I have two main Masterpages, one is the home page and the other one is every other page, they both have the same metadata that’s just a generic description and set of key words about my site. The problem with that is search engines are only picking up my home page and my own search engine displays the same title and description for all results. The other problem is the site is predominantly dynamic so if you type in a search for beach which is a major categories on the site you get 10000 results that all go to different information but all look like a link to the same page to the user. edit It's live here www.themorningtonpeninsula.com
