Is there a widely supported video playback technology for web pages that provides an event/hook that can be captured from Javascript when playback reaches the end of the stream?
My goal is to provide a web page that plays a video and then asks the user a question about the video once playback is complete. The question would be hidden or disabled until they have actually viewed the video.
w3schools says that exceptions can be strings, integers, booleans, or objects, but the example given doesn't strike me as good practice, since exception type checking is done through string comparison. Is this the preferred method of exception handling in JavaScript? Are there built-in exception types (like NullPointerException)? (if so, what are they, what kind of inheritance do they use, and are they preferred over other options?)

Noob here - I'm working on a simple Javascript calculator, and I'm using lists (li) for buttons. I want the li background-color to change onClick, but then automatically change back half a second later. So basically I want the button click to flash the new color, not toggle it.
Is this possible?

How to make up a form that is going to be a search box and work only via Ajax? That is:
1) What to put as the form's action value? (action="what")
2) How to submit it so that nothing else happenes except for calling the JavaScript function?
My website has previous and next buttons. When the page loads id like the previous button to be invisible.(on the first panel)
After the user clicks the next button (to go to 2nd panel), id like the previous button to appear.
Is there some javascript that will do this?
I have some tabs which have been created using Javascript and Mootools, my client wants the 'next button' at the bottom of the page to be disabled, until the tabs have been read(clicked). The page is dynamic (created with PHP and MySQL) and there could be two tabs or three, depending on the set-up. I am struggling today to think of the best solution.
Any help more than welcome...
I have a lot of customized javascript and layout design, and I want to prevent as best I can people just copying and pasting and then using it for themselves. Is there any practical way to do this, or do I basically just have to be happy my php code does not show? I want to at least make it difficult to copy my site.

As far as Google searches tell me, the maximum allowed number of cookies depends very much on the browser, however I cannot find any recent data as to how much cookies are allowed on modern browsers.
I need to store a somewhat large number of user preferences in cookies (for not-yet-registered users), so what would be the best way of doing that? (Also, those cookies would be accessed both via javascript client-side and php server-side)
I am a beginner in jQuery and I was wondering how to validate the form before submission specifically for check boxes.
I am creating a simple check list form where my user would tick a check box if he finished that step. What I am planning to do is that, the script would prevent the form submission if there is an "unticked" checkbox and highlight it with a color.
Here's my code :
<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>checkbox</title>
<style>
.error {
background-color:#F00;
}
.valid {
background-color:#0F0;
}
</style>
<script type="application/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.min.js"> </script>
<script type="application/javascript">
function validateAll() {
$(".tick").change(function(){
if ($('.tick:checked').length == $('.tick').length) {
$('#container').removeClass();
$('#container').addClass('error');
} else {
$('#container').removeClass();
$('#container').addClass('valid');
}
});
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="container"><input class="tick" id="option1" type="checkbox"></div>
<div id="container"><input class="tick" id="option1" type="checkbox"></div>
<input id="button" type="button" onClick="validateAll();" value="check">
</body>
</html>
So what I am trying to do here is when the user clicks the button, the script will highlight all the unchecked check box with red and highlight all checked with green.
However, my script is not functioning. What is wrong with my script? Any suggestions on a more efficient way to do this?
What is the jQuery alternative to the following JavaScript code?
var xmlobject = (new DOMParser()).parseFromString(xmlstring, "text/xml");
I believe a jQuery alternative would be more cross-browser compatible?
I have a form on my website.
When this form is filled out, it is then validated by a javascript validation function.
At the bottom of this function I have this piece of code:
window.location="../index.html";
This wont work on Chrome, but does work in Firefox.
My Q is, how can I make this simple redirect work on all (most) browsers?
Thanks
I have this string:
sometext +[value]:-
I would like to match the value(1-3 numerical characters) (with regex, javascript)
sometext may contain a +sign if i'm unlucky so I don't wanna end up with matching
some +text +value:-
I sat up last night banging my head against this, so I would be really glad if someone could help me.
Hello everyone!
So I was just wondering if it was easy to develop a very simple Firefox plugin where you could click a button, and it would execute some Javascript code!
Please note that I have never developed any kind of plugin for firefox, I just want to know if that is an easy task to do (like less than an hour)
