• java: decoding URI query string

  I need to decode a URI that contains a query string; expected input/output behavior is something like the following: abstract class URIParser { /** example input: * something?alias=pos&FirstName=Foo+A%26B%3DC&LastName=Bar */ URIParser(String input) { ... } /** should return "something" for the example input */ public String getPath(); /** should return a map * {alias: "pos", FirstName: "Foo+A&B=C", LastName: "Bar"} */ public Map<String,String> getQuery(); } I've tried using java.net.URI, but it seems to decode the query string so in the above example I'm left with "alias=pos&FirstName=Foo+A&B=C&LastName=Bar" so there is ambiguity whether a "&" is a query separator or is a character in a query component. edit: just tried URI.getRawQuery() and it doesn't do the encoding, so I can split the query string with a "&", but then what do I do? Any suggestions?

• regex to get current page or directory name?

  I am trying to get the page or last directory name from a url for example if the url is: http://www.example.com/dir/ i want it to return dir or if the passed url is http://www.example.com/page.php I want it to return page Notice I do not want the trailing slash or file extension. I tried this: $regex = "/.*\.(com|gov|org|net|mil|edu)/([a-z_\-]+).*/i"; $name = strtolower(preg_replace($regex,"$2",$url)); I ran this regex in PHP and it returned nothing. (however I tested the same regex in ActionScript and it worked!) So what am I doing wrong here, how do I get what I want? Thanks!!!

• c#: IsNullableType helper class ?

  Hi there, Can anyone help? I have some code that is shared between 2 projects. The code points to a model which basically is a collection of properties that comes from a db. Problem being is that some properties use nullable types in 1 model and the other it doesn't Really the dbs should use the same but they don't .. so for example there is a property called IsAvailble which uses "bool" in one model and the other it uses bool? (nullable type) so in my code i do the following objContract.IsAvailble.Value ? "Yes" : "No" //notice the property .VALUE as its a bool? (nullable type) but this line will fail on model that uses a standard "bool" (not nullable) as there is no property .VALUE on types that are NOT nullable Is there some kind of helper class that i check if the property is a nullable type and i can return .Value .. otherwise i just return the property. Anybody have a solution for this?

  I finished NerdDinner tutorial and now I'm playing a bit with project. • How to implement an override method in IronPython

  I'm trying to implement a WPF control in IronPython and I'm having trouble implemented the override methods. The code below fails with this error: TypeError: expected int, got instancemethod. If I rename the VisualChildrenCount method, the exception is not raised anymore, but the control doesn't work. • Overloading properties in C#

  Ok, I know that property overloading is not supported in C# - most of the references explain it by citing the single-method-different-returntype problem. However, what about setters? I'd like to directly assign a value as either a string or object, but only return as a string. Like this: public string FieldIdList { get { return fieldIdList.ToString(); } set { fieldIdList = new FieldIdList(value); } } public FieldIdList FieldIdList { set { fieldIdList = value; } } private FieldIdList fieldIdList; Why wouldn't this be allowed? I've also seen that "properties" simply create getter/setter functions on compile. Would it be possible to create my own? Something like: public void set_FieldIdList(FieldIdList value) { fieldIdList = value; } That would do the same thing. Thoughts?

• CodeIgniter's XSS Protection is removing <script> tags from user inputs... but I don't want it to!

  Hey folks, CodeIgniter is brilliant but I'm using it to develop a site where users need to be able to share their code for websites. Unfortunately, CodeIgniter has been doing the "right" thing by removing <script> tags from my user's inputs into the database, so when it's returned data looks like this: [removed] User's data [removed] However, I need my site to DISPLAY script tags but obviously not PARSE them. How can I get CodeIgniter or PHP to return <script> tags, but still sanitise them for the database and return them without them executing? Thanks! Jack EDIT: By the way, it's not an option to use stuff like Markdown, everything has to output to copy-pastable code that could work with no modification somewhere else

  In Haskell (F#, Ocaml, and others), I can do this: sign x | x > 0 = 1 | x == 0 = 0 | x < 0 = -1 Which calculates the sign of a given integer. This can concisely express certain logic flows; I've encountered one of these flows in Perl. Right now what I am doing is sub frobnicator { my $frob = shift; return "foo" if $frob eq "Foomaticator"; return "bar" if $frob eq "Barmaticator"; croak("Unable to frob legit value: $frob received"); } Which feels inexpressive and ugly. This code has to run on Perl 5.8.8, but of course I am interested in more modern techniques as well.

• Render a view as a string

  Hi all! I'm wanting to output two different views (one as a string that will be sent as an email), and the other the page displayed to a user. Is this possible in ASP.NET MVC beta? I've tried multiple examples: RenderPartial to String in ASP.NET MVC Beta If I use this example, I receive the "Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent.". MVC Framework: Capturing the output of a view If I use this, I seem to be unable to do a redirectToAction, as it tries to render a view that may not exist. If I do return the view, it is completely messed up and doesn't look right at all. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions to these issues i have, or have any suggestions for better ones? Many thanks! • Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

  I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble. • Postgresql 8.4 reading OID style BLOBs with Hibernate

  I am getting this weird case when querying Postgres 8.4 for some records with Blobs (of type OIDs) with Hibernate. The query does return all right but when my code wants to read the content of the BLOB with the simple code below, it gets 0 bytes back public static byte[] readBlob(Blob blob) throws Exception { InputStream is = null; try { is = blob.getBinaryStream(); return org.apache.commons.io.IOUtils.toByteArray(is); } finally { if (is != null) try { is.close(); } catch(Exception e) {} } } Funny think is that I am getting this behavior only since I've started adding more then one such records to the table.   I have this code in Python inputted = input("Enter in something: ") print("Input is {0}, including the return".format(inputted)) that outputs Enter in something: something Input is something , including the newline I am not sure what is happening; if I use variables that don't depend on user input, I do not get the newline after formatting with the variable. I suspect Python might be taking in the newline as input when I hit return. How can I make it so that the input does not include any newlines so that I may compare it to other strings/characters? (e.g. something == 'a')

PS I do not care which of the 3 it returns mind you, but I need it to only return 3 (or what ever how many DISTINCT fruit there are. ex return would be John,Smith,apple Bill,evans,orange Willma,Jones,grape Thanks in advance I've been banging my head on this all day.

  The python interface to the memcache has an add method: add(key, value, time=0, min_compress_len=0, namespace=None) Sets a key's value, if and only if the item is not already in memcache. ... The return value is True if added, False on error. So with this you can add an item if it doesn't exist, and see if it previously existed by the return value. The java memcache api equivalent for this doesn't let you know if there was a previous value or not: put(key, value, expiration, MemcacheService.SetPolicy.ADD_ONLY_IF_NOT_PRESENT); MemcacheService.SetPolicy.ADD_ONLY_IF_NOT_PRESENT: add the value if no value with the key, do nothing if the key exists Is there a way to know if a previous value existed or not with the java api? I can't just check with the contains method beforehand, because in between the call to contains and the call to put, another JVM instance could modify the memcache.

  Hi, I'm trying to write a little helper for Windows which eventually will accept a file extension as an argument and return the number of files of that kind in the current directory. To do so, I'm reading the file entries in the directories and after getting the extension I'd like to convert it to lowercase to compare it with the yet-to-add specified argument. When converting the extension to lowercase I found that touching even a duplicate string of the d_name variable will cause a strange behaviour, like no more calls to readdir are called.   I am having trouble in creating named pipe in Android and the example below illustrates my dilemma: res = mkfifo("/sdcard/fifo9000", S_IRWXO); if (res != 0) { LOG("Error while creating a pipe (return:%d, errno:%d)", res, errno); } The code always prints: Error while creating a pipe (return:-1, errno:1) I can't figure out exactly why this fails. The application has android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. I can create normal files with exactly the same name in the same location, but pipe creation fails. The pipe in question should be accessible from multiple applications. I suspect that noone can create pipes in /sdcard. Where would it be the best location to do so? What mode mast should I set (2nd parameter)? Does application need any extra permissions?
