  • Override An Existing Property as a Child form of its return type

    I apologize if that title is confusing. This question may be a result of lack of coffee and/or sleep, but my mind is not working correctly right now. Anyways, I have an inheritance tree like such (I know the architecture isn't ideal): BaseClass GeneralForm : Inherits BaseClass SpecificForm : Inherits GeneralForm And an object like so: MyItem MySpecificItem : Inherits MyItem I have Items As List (Of MyItem) as a property in BaseClass. I would like for SpecificForm to somehow override Items to return type List (Of MySpecificItem). I feel like this is easy to do, but again, my head is spinning and I can't think straight at the moment. Thank you so much in advance.

    Hi all, I have a link in a Gridview that I want opened in Windows Explorer (or explorer.exe). <asp:GridView ID="GridView1"runat="server" > <Columns> <asp:TemplateField> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="DeploymentLocation" runat="server" CommandName="OpenLink" Text='<%# Eval("DeploymentLocation") %>' CommandArgument='<%# Eval("DeploymentLocation") %>' /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> and in codebehind I have this: protected void GridView1_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { Process.Start("explorer.exe", "/n," + e.CommandArgument.ToString()); } Obviously this doesn't work as Process.Start only works if I have full permissions, etc, etc. I heard that I can use Javascript to do this, but haven't succeeded so far. Basically, what I want is the exact link that is displayed in the grid to be opened when clicked. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Ok, so once upon a time, my code worked. Since then I did some refactoring (basic stuff so I thought) but now I'm getting a null reference exception, and I can't bloody well figure out why.     I have a project in that we have to represent some graphic objects on a usercontrol in WYSIWYG. Also is required to edit each objects properties(Color, Location, etc). I hesitate between using PropertyGrid ('direct' properties edit) and custom forms on DoubleClick ('indirect' edit). The PropertyGrid is very well but should correspond a some criteria: Only selected properties are Displayed (by e.g. if I have TextRectangle want display only Text and Location); Property names should be customizable and internationalizable (by e.g. TextRectangle Text property should be named "Company Name" or "???????? ???????????"). Now about is it possible I think the answer could be Yes, but is it reasonable to use it if we have not a lot of time. What could be quicker implemented, custom forms or Property panel?

  • Getting row right after insert returns no result

    I am running unit tests and when I try to insert data in the database and getting it right after, I don't get anything (I have tried with DataAdapter and DataReader). However when I put a 3 seconds sleep (even with 1 second it doesn't work...) between the insert and the select I get the result. In SQL Server Profiler I can see the execution, the insert is well done and is completed about 10 miliseconds before the select begins. I can't find out where this comes

Does anybody know how well Microsoft follow this themselves..? I know you can use regex but I also know people can write their script tags so many ways that you can fool the regex into thinking it is OK.   • WebClient.DownloadString() Not Producing Exact HTML

    So here's the deal. I'm creating a spider bot for a website that scans all the product pages and records the product data. I'm using C# and the WebClient library to download the HTML string. The site I'm crawling must be specially made because the HTML that is received from WebClient.DownloadString() is different than the HTML that I get when I view the source of the HTML when visiting it on a browser. This seems intentional because the only info I can't get is the price. Does anyone know a workaround for this problem or can anyone explain what is happening? Thanks.

    Hi, I have an AJAX controller action which returns JSON. The returned JSON is handled via jQuery and contains a message displayed in an update div. The JSON also contains a flag which indicates a change in state. If this is true the entire page needs to be reloaded from a different url. This is currently performed in the jQuery using window.location.replace(url). In the situation where a full page refresh occurs, I still want to display the message from the JSON in the update div, but after the page has fully reloaded. How can I ensure the div is updated with the message after the window.location.replace call and the page has been completely reloaded? Thanks. (I realise AJAX is not intended for full page refreshes but I can't think of a simple way of avoiding it in this scenario. Normal behaviour here is updating the div with a status message.)

On Upload button click page flow: Page load - AddScriptToPage is executed (registers scripts with no columns) Then AddScriptToPage in btnclick event is executed (registers scripts with columns) Why is this script not getting registered even though it is executed on vb code on uploadclick event? And why does it show up after another button click and not original button click that calls this event?
