  Hello i'm trying to generate a proxy class from a local wsdl file with eclipse Galileo and axis 2 1.4 on windows xp . My problem is that i get an error due to an imported schema inside the wsdl . In fact i can download the file from the browser without problems. There's an option to specify a proxy to wsdl2java or someone has resolved this issue ? For the moment i've downloaded the xsd, added it to the project and changed the wsdl to include the relative file (instead of the remote one) , but i'd prefer to avoid this , because the file is a third party service wsdl. thank you in advance for any hint Stefano

• Android 2.1 GoogleMaps ItemizedOverlay ConcurrentModificationException

  Hi, I cannot figure out the origin of the ConcurrentModificationException. In my activity I'm calling updateMapOverlay(). I'm also calling updateMapOverlay() inside another Thread (a TimerTask) that is invoked on regular intervals. I'm taking the appropriate locks when invoking updateMapOverlay() from both the threads. Is this problem being caused because I'm invoking updateMapOverlay from inside a non-UI thread (i.e., TimerTask). • Problem installing the latest eclipse IDE

  I'm running ubuntu 11.04. I'm trying to install the latest "eclipse for java developers" IDE (version Indigo 3.7.1). I have downloaded and extracted it.   Came across another gem of an article by Joel Spolsky. It's a pretty old article written in June of 2004, has lot of tidbits and I really enjoyed reading it, so much in fact that I read it twice! So hit the link below and give it a read if you haven't already, How Microsoft Lost the API War - Joel Spolsky excerpt, "I first heard about this from one of the developers of the hit game SimCity, who told me that there was a critical bug in his application: it used memory right after freeing it, a major no-no that happened to work OK on DOS but would not work under Windows where memory that is freed is likely to be snatched up by another running application right away. The testers on the Windows team were going through various popular applications, testing them to make sure they worked OK, but SimCity kept crashing. They reported this to the Windows developers, who disassembled SimCity, stepped through it in a debugger, found the bug, and added special code that checked if SimCity was running, and if it did, ran the memory allocator in a special mode in which you could still use memory after freeing it."

• Google adwords API - credit card safety question

  Hi, Google is asking me to fax credit card xerox in order to activate adwords API in MCC. This really sucks imo... they could have had prepaid option. In any case, my questions: 1) Are there alternatives to this - is there a 3rd party provider who will give me this service without me sending them the credit card info? 2) How secure is it to send my credit card fax via some online fax service? 3) Do you think they will reject the application if I hide my CVV number in the fax? Any other thoughts appreciated :) thanks

• Polishing the MonologFX API

  Earlier this week, I released "into the wild" a new JavaFX 2.x dialog library, MonologFX, that incorporated some elements of DialogFX and new features I'd been working on over time. While I did try to get the API to a point of reasonable completion (nothing is ever truly "finished", of course!), there was one bit of functionality that I'd included without providing any real "polish": that of the button icons. Good friend and fellow JFXtras teammate José Pereda Llamas suggested I fix that oversight and provide an update (thanks much, José!), thus this post. • Code Generation and IDE vs writing per Hand

  I have been programming for about a year now. Pretty soon I realized that I need a great Tool for writing code and learned Vim. I was happy with C and Ruby and never liked the idea of an IDE. Which was encouraged by a lot of reading about programming.[1] However I started with (my first) Java Project. In a CS Course we were using Visual Paradigm and encouraged to let the program generate our code from a class diagram. I did not like that Idea because: Our class diagram was buggy. Students more experienced in Java said they would write the code per hand. I had never written any Java before and would not understand a lot of the generated code. So I took a different approach and wrote all methods per Hand (getter and Setter included). My Team-members have written their parts (partly generated by VP) in an IDE and I was "forced" to use it too. I realized they had generated equal amounts of code in a shorter amount of time and did not spend a lot of time setting their CLASSPATH and writing scripts for compiling that son of a b***. Additionally we had to implement a GUI and I dont see how we could have done that in a sane matter in Vim. So here is my Problem: I fell in love with Vim and the Unix way. But it looks like for getting this job done (on time) the IDE/Code generation approach is superior. Do you have equal experiences? Is Java by the nature of the language just more suitable for an IDE/Code generated approach? Or am I lacking the knowledge to produce equal amounts of code "per Hand"?   I am porting a Java application to Haskell. With this solution, I will have lots of nested if-then-else (one for each exit point of the original Java code). Is there a more elegant / idiomatic way of implementing this pattern in Haskell? In general, what is a Haskell idiomatic way to implement an early exit / return as used in an imperative language like Java?

• Android: Getting Error: Conversion to Dalvik format failed

  I am building an app on android and running into an error and while searching on net, came across your posting on this and changed the eclipse.ini to increase Xms and Xmx params but still this error does not go away. I am using Eclipse IDE for Java with Andrioid SDK 2.1 on Mac OS. Please help or please point me to someone who might know. • Python C API return more than one value / object without building a tuple [migrated]

  I got the following problem. I have written a C-Extension to Python(2.7 / 3.2) to interface a self written software library. Unfortunately I need to return two values from the function where the last one is optional. In Python I tried def func(x,y): return x+y, x-y test = func(13,4) but test is a tuple. If I write test1,test2 = func(13,4) I got both values separated. Is there a possibility to return only one value without unpacking the tuple, i.e. the second(,.. third, ..fourth) value gets neglected? And if such a solution existst, how does it look for the C-API? Because return Py_BuildValue("ii",x+y,x-y); results in a tuple as well.

  I'm using the Mailchimp API in combination with PHP and jQuery to provide the subscribing/unsubscribing-actions on a website via Ajax. On errors with user data you get useful messages like "Invalid Email Address", "[email protected] is already subscribed to list x. Click here to update your profile." or "There is no record of "[email protected]" in the database". For sure I want to keep theses messages, but is there a way I can get them in other languages (in particular in German)? How would I achieve this? I wasn't able to find anything about in the Mailchimp docs. I wouldn't like to translate them myself...

  I am working on a project which has a Desktop Application for MAC/COCOA, a native application for iPhone another native application in iPad. All the application do almost same thing. The applications are data driven applications. Every communication to server is made via a restful API developed in PHP. When a user logs in a lot of data is fetched from server. And to remain in sync with server pooling is done. As there are lot of data to pool it makes application slower and un-reliable. A possible solution that comes into my mind is to use Socket based server. My question is that will it reasonably improve the performance? And which technology (of sockets) will be good as a server side solution for data driven application? I have heard a lot about Node.js. Please give your suggestions.
