  • Windows 7 UAC manifest file for some VB6 application

    Hi, all, I have an old VB6 application which should run on Windows 7 (with UAV set to the default level, 3 of 4 IMHO). It has the functionality to update itself, and Windows 7 is now complaining that it would modify the computer (At least windows 7 is right here). I was able to run it in Vista with some kind of manifest file, but this does not seem to work anymore (which is the intended behaviour if I think of it). Currently the Shield Icon has gone from my .exe, but when try to start the software, i get the message "Der angeforderte Vorgang erfordert höhere Rechte", or translated to english "the requested operation requires elevation". What can I do to stop windows to bug me anymore, so I can install this application on our clients computers. Hey, I already told Windows to run it as Invoker, so why is it still complaining?

The source code below compiles fine; it even runs and displays the contents of the InfoWork datatable in the wpf datagrid. Hooray! But the WPF page with the datagrid will not display in the designer. I get an incomprehensible error instead on my design page which is shown at the end of this posting. I assume the designer is having some difficulty instantiating the dataview for display in the grid. How can I fix that?   • Exception on SslStream.AuthenticateAsClient (The message was badly formatted)

    I have got wierd problem going on. I am trying to connect to Apple server via TCP/SSL. I am using a Client certificate provided by Apple for push notifications. I installed the certificate on my server (Win2k3) in both Local Trusted Root certificates and Local Personal Certificates folder. Now I have a class library that deals with that connection, when i call this class library from a console application running from the server it works absolutely fine, but when i call that class library from an asp.net page or asmx web service I get the following exception. A call to SSPI failed, see inner exception. The message received was unexpected or badly formatted. This is my code: X509Certificate cert = new X509Certificate(certificateLocation, certificatePassword); X509CertificateCollection certCollection = new X509CertificateCollection(new X509Certificate[1] { cert }); // OPEN the new SSL Stream SslStream ssl = new SslStream(client.GetStream(), false, new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate), null); ssl.AuthenticateAsClient(ipAddress, certCollection, SslProtocols.Default, false); ssl.AuthenticateAsClient is where the error gets thrown. This is driving me nuts. If the console application can connect fine, there must be some problem with asp.net network layer security that is failing the authentication... not sure, perhaps need to add something or some sort of security policy in the web.config. Also just to point out that i can connect fine on my local development machine both with console and website. Anyone has got any ideas?

Things go wrong when I try to view the control in Eclipse, crashing with a NullPointerException after the error message: "Parser is not a BridgeXmlBlockParser". Stacktrace: java.lang.NullPointerException at android.view.View.<init>(View.java:1720) at android.view.ViewGroup.<init>(ViewGroup.java:277) at android.widget.FrameLayout.<init>(FrameLayout.java:83) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:128) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:124) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:120) at my.compound.control.StringPicker.onMeasure(StringPicker.java:46) ... I've traced the error to the following conditions: The NPE is thrown because a Context.obtainStyledAttributes() call returns null when the attrs argument passed is null. This only applies to the BridgeContext implementation used in Eclipse, which expects attrs to be an instance of the BridgeXmlBlockParser. The attrs argument is null because I create the ScrollView using the (Context) constructor. There is a workaround of course, which is passing the attrs I receive when Eclipse constructs the compound control, but I don't want all the attributes set on the compound control to apply to my inner control. Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug in Android Eclipse, ...?

    I am using the following code to do things with gridview(slightly modified from http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-gridview.html). I want to replace the onClicklistener and the onClick() method with their "touch" equivalents i.e. touchlistener and onTouch() so that when i touch an element in the gridview the image of the element changes and a double touch on the same element takes it back to the orginal state. How do I do this? I can't get my code to do this. The clicklistener works to some extent but the touch isn't. Specifically, I've been working with this example: PrincipalContext domainContext = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, domain); using (domainContext) { return domainContext.ValidateCredentials(UserName, Password); } Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me as I don't have both ContextOptions set to Sealed/Secure and SSL (like I did above in the .NET 2.0 code.)   • Visual Studio 2010 is asking to convert RDLC created on VS2008 to RDLC 2008 format?

    I've created my project on Visual Studio 2008, as well RDLC files on it. But now, when I open the solution on Visual Studio 2010 and want to open RDLC file, it's showing me a warning. That's a little funny. The report was created on VS2008 and VS2010 is asking to convert to 2008 format. Perhaps there was a problem on my VS2008 installation that created RDLC files using some ancient format (2005??!)     OK I've seen a few people with this issue - but I'm already using a file path, not a relative path. My code works fine on my PC, but when another developer goes to upload an image they get this error. I thought it was a security permission thing on the folder - but the system account has full access to the folder (though I get confused about how to test which account the application is running under).   • Rendering a UIWebView in drawRect with loadHTMLString

    Hello there, I am having a problem with UIWebView. I'd like to render my own html code in it. When I add a webview as a subview and put in some html code it renders just fine. When it gets down to some optimized drawing of tableview cell with the drawRect method the problem pops up. Drawing UIView descendants works pretty well this way. It's even possible to load a URL with the loadRequest method, setting the delegate, conforming to the UIWebViewDelegate protocol and redrawing the table cell with setNeedsDisplay when webViewDidFinishLoad is called. It does show, but when it comes to loadHTMLString, nothing shows up, only a white rect. Due to performance reasons I have to do the drawing in the drawRect method. Any ideas?   • WCF listenBacklog and maxConnections can't be set higher than 10. Why not?

    My service works great under low load. But under high load I start to get connection errors. I know about other settings but I am trying to change the listenBacklog parameter in particular for my TCP Buffered binding. If I set listenBacklog="10" I am able to telnet into the port where my WCF service is running. If I change listenBacklog to anything higher than 10 it will not let me telnet into my service when it is running. No errors seem to be thrown. What can I do? I get the same problem when I change my maxConnections away from 10. All other properties of the binding I can set higher without a problem.     I would like to dynamically create a set of context menu options based upon some properties. Currently, I am creating a context menu as a DynamicResource with the visibility of the menu options bound to the properties, however, it seems that the DynamicResource is created only once, at runtime. Is this true? What I would like to do is have the menu generated each time, which will take into account the property changes on the data object. Either a reference to 'System.Web.ApplicationServices' is missing from your project or the type 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' is missing from assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. I researched the issue and the error is accurate. I added a reference to System.Web.ApplicationServices but I am still having problems. The project does not seem to recognize that the reference has been added. Intellisense will not pick it up, I can not use it in an Import statement, etc ... The assembly is listed in the compile section of my web.config: <assemblies> ... <add assembly="System.Web.ApplicationServices, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> </assemblies> Any ideas?

    I'm having a WCF Service that uses wsHttpBinding. The server configuration is as follows : <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="wsHttpBinding" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> At the client side I'm including the Service reference of the WCF-Service. It works great if I have limited functions say 90 Operation Contract in my IService but if add one more OperationContract than I'm unable to Update the Service reference nor i'm able to add that service reference. In this article it's mentioned that by changing those config files(i.e devenv.exe.config, WcfTestClient.exe.config and SvcUtil.exe.config) it will work but even including those bindings in those config files still that error pops up saying There was an error downloading 'http://10.0.3.112/MyService/Service1.svc/mex'. The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request. Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://10.0.3.112/MyService/Service1.svc/mex'. There is an error in XML document (1, 89549). The maximum nametable character count quota (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data. The nametable is a data structure used to store strings encountered during XML processing - long XML documents with non-repeating element names, attribute names and attribute values may trigger this quota. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxNameTableCharCount property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. Line 1, position 89549. If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again. Any idea how to solve this????

    I am trying to install a SSL certificate on IIS 7. I have download a free trial certificate. After that, this is the steps what I do: Click the Start menu and select Administrative Tools. Start Internet Services Manager and click the Server Name. In the center section, double click on the Server Certificates button in the Security section. From the Actions menu click Complete Certificate Request. Enter the location for the certificate file. Enter a Friendly name. Click OK. Under Sites select the site to be secured with the SSL certificate. From the Actions menu, click Bindings.This will open the Site Bindings window. In the Site Bindings window, click Add. This opens the Add Site Binding window. Select https from the Type menu. Set the port to 443. Select the SSL Certificate you just installed from the SSL Certificate menu. Click OK. This is the step where I get the message: One or more intermediate certificates in the certificate chain are missing. To resolve this issue, make sure that all of intermediate certificates are installed. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954755 After this, when I access the web site on its first page, I get this message: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. What am I doing wrong?

    I've created a simple WCF service but when I use Visual Studio to add a service reference, this error comes up. The message with Action '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to a ContractFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. This may be because of either a contract mismatch (mismatched Actions between sender and receiver) or a binding/security mismatch between the sender and the receiver. Check that sender and receiver have the same contract and the same binding (including security requirements, e.g. Message, Transport, None).     If I have a property whose display format is dependent on the value of another property in the view model how do I create a display template for it? The combination of field1's display being dependent on field2's value will be used throughout the app and I would like to encapsulate this in a MVC 2 display template. To be more specific, I've already create a display template (Social.ascx) for custom data type Social that masks a social security number for display. For instance, XXX-XX-1234. [DataType("Social")] public string SocialSecurityNumber { get; set; } All employees also have an employeeID. Certain companies use the employee's social security number as either the whole employee id or as part of it. I need to also mask the employeeID if it contains the social. I'd like to create another display template (EmpID.ascx) to perform this task. [DataType("EmpID")] public string EmployeeID { get; set; } The problem is that I don't know how to get both properties in the "EmpID" template to be able to perform the comparison.
