I have installed Windows7 on my computer, and I had to change all permissions/take ownership - which apparently "touched" all my files, and now everything appears to be "modified" (when I do "hg status").
Is there a command I can run so that I will either "commit" or "revert" all the files that have no actual change in them (i.e. text is unchanged, even if file attributes are changed).
i have known that winpcap library enabled a person to obtain advanced information about installed devices...
given all the networking devices found in the computer, how will i know which one of this has an internet connection?!
thanks:)
My program is written in C++. compiled with gcc, using -g3 -O0 -ggdb flags. When it crashes, I want to open its core dump. Does it create core dump file, or I need to do something to enable core dump creation, in the program itself, or on computer where it is executed? Where this file is created, and what is its name?
I need a reliable way to detect how many CPU cores are on a computer. I am creating a numerically intense simulation C# application and want to create the maximum number of running threads as cores. I have tried many of the methods suggested around the internet like Environment.ProcessorCount, using WMI, this code: http://blogs.adamsoftware.net/Engine/DeterminingthenumberofphysicalCPUsonWindows.aspx. None of them seem to think a AMD X2 has two cores. Any ideas?
Hello, I am developing a new Java Desktop app. Something like a media player. I want to load most of the resources in the background when the computer starts up. But the users can turn this option off form within the app or using some other utility. So, what I want to do is if a ban instance of the app is already running and the user starts the app again then I can communicate with the already running instance so that it can launch a new window?
This doesn't need to be a real time solution, but are there some log files or system messages that could be read to identify periods of time where someone was connected via RDP to a Windows 7 machine?
I'm building a watchdog script for a computer which will be deployed in a remote place and would like to add this metric to a daily status update.
How can you connect to an itunes library in your iphone program. What api or classes are used in this. I need to make an app similar to the REMOTE app that exists. to be able to connect to a itunes library on someones computer and see their list of songs etc.
I have had two instances of this problem, first on my local computer, now on the main site. Users can log in to the site, but it doesn't seem to recognize their roles. When I log in (which the database still recognizes as having the role admin), the code does not recognize it as being in the admin role.
If there are other web.configs in subfolders, would that cause the problem? What could possibly cause this issue?
Thanks!

Hello.
I'm developing a Flash game in ActionScript 2, and the issue if that this game has to count the time securely.
It can't count the time from the Date class because the Flash Player takes the time from the local computer, and the user can change the local time so the time reported would be fake.
I haven't considerend to take the time from the server because there's a 3WH (3 way handshake) time and it would not be practical.
What do you sugest me??
In C++ is there a predefined library function that will return the size of RAM currently available on a computer a program is being run on, at run-time?
For instance, if an object is 4bytes, then can we divide the available virtual memory by 4 bytes to give an estimate of how many more objects could be stored by the program safely?
I have used the sizeof() function to return the size of objects within my program.
Thanks
A HCS12 microcontroller I had to buy for a class I had recently taken has 40 pins on the back side of it. The class was merely about computer organization, and so unfortunately, we never had a chance to cover all the capabilities of the chip itself. Now that the class is over, I have been thinking about using the to familiarize myself with the assembly language. I haven't found any sources that cover pin control and was wondering if anyone could possibly provide me with a hands-on pin tutorial.
I just want to play a very simple, straight forward note by giving my computer a certain frequency as an integer, and from there I can figure out how to make it play the note longer or shorter. It does not necessarily have to come out of the actual sound card - if it's generated and output by the internal speaker that's okay.
I looked at the midi libraries that java has included, and they are way more than what I want to do. This just needs to be very basic.
After rearranging my physical network in my apartment my Windows Vista machine can no longer connect to the network. I have tested all of the cabling by connecting other devices and everything is fine. I'm able to connect using other computers, I've even tested a brand new ethernet adapter and the network status still reads "media disconnected". I have no idea where to go from here.
My setup is as follows: Cable modem - router - hardwired ethernet cable to computer.
good morning all :)
was wondering if anyone can tell me how come I cant get my windows form size to go to 1280x 768 in vs 2008?
My resolution that I am working on is 1024x768..but the computer that I am going to be running this program on is a wide screen..1280x768.
I try to change it in properties but it keeps defaulting back to 1036x760.
Hi,
I have installed "Damn Small Linux" on my home computer for doing C development in unix. But the distribution doesn't by default come with the C development environment and I am facing some issues when trying to install the gcc.
Is there any other small Linux distribution which by default has the required packages for the C development. And also I don't want additional software which takes up lot of space but still would like to have the graphical environment.
Thanks
Lets say I have something like...
void foo()
{
char c[100];
printf("this function does nothing useful");
}
When foo is called, it creates the array on the stack, and when it goes out of scope, is the memory deallocated automatically? Or is c destroyed, but the memory remains allocated, with no way to access it/get it back except restarting the computer?
i need the source code of an application that can upload and download automatically from the remote computer (FTP) using java langauge. if any body gey help or the code, kindly contact me through my mail address [email protected]. thanks
So basically I would like somehow that given an audio file as input (most likely mp3 or I can use some audio engine that will handle other types too) from my computer to control some LED lights so they will be something like an oscilloscope, like the one in winamp.
What would I need to be able to do this? I'm interested in building thing up all by myself, coding, hardware, etc..
I'm going with C++ on Windows.
Can anyone help me how to get (or log) all URLs accessed by web browsers in a computer. Together with its response time?
Note: visual C++ will be the Programming language to be use and this will run under windows platform.
I'm using another computer than normal to do iPhone dev.
Now I'm trying to get my apps onto my iPhone, but fail with the certificates, keys and stuff.
Refer to this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/613719/iphone-provisioning-problem-public-private-key
Actually I'm able to download my cert no problem from Apple's site, but how would I get at the keys needed? (private, public), I see no way of getting them...
I'm running the following code to check for updates in my software, and I wonder whether VB.Net will automatically user computer proxy settings:
Dim CurrentVersion As String = (New System.Net.WebClient).DownloadString("URL/version.txt")
If not, how can I adapt it to use proxy settings?
Hi, I first learned C++ then moved to C (I know kind of backwards) and then I found a thing called iTunes U and began watching programming classes to extend my knowledge and noticed that Stanford and MIT both did not teach C or C++ as an introduction to computer programming. Then I began to wonder why they didn't begin teaching C/C++ because I thought C/C++ was more efficient than Java (which Stanford taught) and Python (which MIT taught). Or maybe there is no particular reason?
I need to setup NACHOS java version in Linux and run some simple sample . How to setup and run simple sample ? [need some tutorials and some computer assignment with solution with NACHOS]
I would like to write a small module that can check if anything is connected to my computer's HDMI input, and if so write a frame of video to bitmap once in a while.
Can anyone point me to resources regarding grabbing audio/video from HDMI on windows?
