The sr object is not in scope in ErrHandler so sr.Close() cannot be called. Does the Using block cleanup any resources automatically even if there is an error?

    I'm trying to understand what's happening here. I have a CheckedListBox which contains some ticked and some un-ticked items. I'm trying to find a way of determining the delta in the selection of controls. I've tried some cumbersome like this - but only works part of the time, I'm sure there's a more elegant solution. A maybe related problem is the myCheckBox_ItemCheck event fires on form load - before I have a chance to perform an ItemCheck.     I am using spring mvc in which i convert the arraylist into json string. I have one object 1) results.     I know constructors don't "return" anything but for instance if I call CMyClass *object = new CMyClass() is there any way to make object to be NULL if the constructor fails? In my case I have some images that have to be loaded and if the file reading fails I'd like it to return null. Is there any way to do that? Thanks in advance.

    I'm writing a simple console client-server app using MSMQ. I'm attempting to run it over the workgroup we have set up. They run just fine when run on the same computer, but I can't get them to connect over the network. I've tried adding Direct=, OS:, and a bunch of combinations of other prefaces, but I'm running out of ideas, and obviously don't know the right way to do it. My queue's don't have GUIDs, which is also slightly confusing. Whenever I attempt to connect to a remote machine, I get an invalid queue name message. What do I have to do to make this work?     Hi. I am new to LWUIT and j2me, and I am building a j2me application for showing Japanese text vertically. The phonetic symbol part of the text should be shown in relatively small font size (about half the size of the text), small Kanas need to be shown as normal ones, and some 'vertical only' characters need to be put into the Private Use Area, etc. I tried to build this font into a bitmap font using the FontTask ant task LWUIT provided, but found that it does support the customizations mentioned above. So I decided to write my own task and add those. Below is what I have achieved: 1 An ant task extending the LWUITTask task to support a new nested element <verticalfont>. public class VerticalFontBuildTask extends LWUITTask { public void addVerticalfont(VerticalFontTask anVerticalFont) { super.addFont(anVerticalFont); } } 2 The VerticalFontTask task, which extends the original FontTask. There is the obvious way of getting each value from the Properties object and putting it in a Map. But with a large number of properties it seems like there should be a way of just getting the Map that backs javafx.util.Properties (if it is a Map). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Representing xml through a single class

    I am trying to abstract away the difficulties of configuring an application that we use. This application takes a xml configuration file and it can be a bit bothersome to manually edit this file, especially when we are trying to setup some automatic testing scenarios. I am finding that reading xml is nice, pretty easy, you get a network of element nodes that you can just go through and build your structures quite nicely. However I am slowly finding that the reverse is not quite so nice. I want to be able to build a xml configuration file through a single easy to use interface and because xml is composed of a system of nodes I am having a lot of struggle trying to maintain the 'easy' part. Does anyone know of any examples or samples that easily and intuitively build xml files without declaring a bunch of element type classes and expect the user to build the network themselves? For example if my desired xml output is like so <cook version="1.1"> <recipe name="chocolate chip cookie"> <ingredients> <ingredient name="flour" amount="2" units="cups"/> <ingredient name="eggs" amount="2" units="" /> <ingredient name="cooking chocolate" amount="5" units="cups" /> </ingredients> <directions> <direction name="step 1">Preheat oven</direction> <direction name="step 2">Mix flour, egg, and chocolate</direction> <direction name="step 2">bake</direction> </directions> </recipe> <recipe name="hot dog"> ... How would I go about designing a class to build that network of elements and make one easy to use interface for creating recipes? Right now I have a recipe object, an ingredient object, and a direction object. The user must make each one, set the attributes in the class and attach them to the root object which assembles the xml elements and outputs the formatted xml. Its not very pretty and I just know there has to be a better way. I am using python so bonus points for pythonic solutions

    When I submit my MVC Page I get an IvalidOperationException from System.Web.Mvc Controller object in the UpdateModel method. the MSDN documentation states that this method does the following: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Is the value provider referencing the current Request object? Or where exactly does it get the values that it is using to update the model? And what specifically does the UpdateModel method check and what does it 'mean' when it says that The model of type 'abcXYZ' was not successfully updated Thanks
