  • AVAudioPlayer crash after playing from an AVAudioRecorder

    - by munchine
    I've got a button the user tap to start recording and tap again to stop. When it stop I want the recorded voice 'echo' back so the user can hear what was recorded. This works fine the first time. If I hit the button for the third time, it starts a new recording and when I hit stop it crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. - (IBAction) readToMeTapped { if(recording) { recording = NO; [readToMeButton setTitle:@"Stop Recording" forState: UIControlStateNormal ]; NSMutableDictionary *recordSetting = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithFloat: 44100.0], AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: kAudioFormatAppleLossless], AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: 1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: AVAudioQualityMax], AVEncoderAudioQualityKey, nil]; // Create a new dated file NSDate *now = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; NSString *caldate = [now description]; recordedTmpFile = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.caf", DOCUMENTS_FOLDER, caldate] retain]]; error = nil; recorder = [[ AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:recordedTmpFile settings:recordSetting error:&error]; [recordSetting release]; if(!recorder){ NSLog(@"recorder: %@ %d %@", [error domain], [error code], [[error userInfo] description]); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle: @"Warning" message: [error localizedDescription] delegate: nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return; } NSLog(@"Using File called: %@",recordedTmpFile); //Setup the recorder to use this file and record to it. I thought it may have something to do with releasing memory but I've been careful. Have I missed something?

  • dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: crashes in Simulator but not on phone

    - by Jon
    I'm doing the following: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES] This code fails using the Simulator but works with no issues on the phone itself. The Simulator's console shows no erros. I used NSLog statements to pinpoint this line of code as the culprit. When running on the phone, however, the console(windoworganizer) shows that the above code is executed and the application proceeds forward with no problem. When running the code in debugger, the following statement appears at the bottom of the Xcode debug window: GDB: Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) Then a window dispalys stating: Loading 43672 stack frames. (that sounds bad) In the debug window the following line appears numerous times: [UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] Without getting too deep into my code, does anyone know about or have experience with this type of condition? Thanks

  • CALayer and Quartz Transparency

    - by Brian
    I have a CALayer subclass. I have overridden the drawInContext method. I want the majority of my layer to be transparent except a few areas. I'm using the layer as a menu and I want the icons and labels on the menu to be opaque. Is it possible to have a CALayer's sublayers be opaque if the super CALayer is transparent? Is it possible to draw opaque tems in the drawInContext method of a transparent CALayer? I have tried using CGContextSetAlpha, but I assume it doesn't work since the CALayer that I am drawing for is transparent. As always, any help would be great.

  • UITableView and SearchBar problem

    - by dododedodonl
    Hi all, I'm trying to add a Search bar to my UITableView. I followed this tutorial: http://clingingtoideas.blogspot.com/2010/02/uitableview-how-to-part-2-search.html. I'm getting this error if I type a letter in the search box: Rooster(10787,0xa05ed4e0) malloc: *** error for object 0x3b5f160: double free *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug. This error occurs here: - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { [self handleSearchForTerm:searchString]; return YES; } (on the second line) - (void)handleSearchForTerm:(NSString *)searchTerm { [self setSavedSearchTerm:searchTerm]; if ([self searchResults] == nil) { NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [self setSearchResults:array]; [array release]; } //Empty the searchResults array [[self searchResults] removeAllObjects]; //Check if the searchTerm doesn't equal zero... if ([[self savedSearchTerm] length] != 0) { //Search the whole tableList (datasource) for (NSString *currentString in tableList) { NSString *klasString = [[NSString alloc] init]; NSInteger i = [[leerlingNaarKlasList objectAtIndex:[tableList indexOfObject:currentString]] integerValue]; if(i != -1) { klasString = [klassenList objectAtIndex:(i - 1)]; } //Check if the string matched or the klas (group of school) if ([currentString rangeOfString:searchTerm options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch].location != NSNotFound || [klasString rangeOfString:searchTerm options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch].location != NSNotFound) { //Add to results [[self searchResults] addObject:currentString]; //Save the klas (group of school). It has the same index as the result (lastname) NSString *strI = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%i", i]; [[self searchResultsLeerlingNaarKlas] addObject:strI]; [strI release]; } [klasString release]; } } } Can someone help me out? • Using a CALayer in UITableViewCell

    - by Brian
    On each cell of my table view I want to have a bar that the user can slide out from the right. On the bar I plan to have icons. So, to do this I subclassed UITableViewCell. On the cell I have implemented drawRect and in there I have already drawn a gradient and background color on the cell. From there, I can create a CALayer, give it a frame & background color, and add it as a sub layer to the Views subLayers array. I can do all that and it will display my layer on each UITableViewCell. I have added touch events to the cell so I can detect when the user touches the cell and for testing I have made it so when the user swipes, my CALayer gets wider. But the issue is, when the UITableView scrolls and reuses a cell whose CALayer has been widened, it doesn't recreate the CALayer. I have tried [myLayer setNeedsDisplay] and used the drawLayer:inContext method of its delegate and it doesn't get called. I have also tried telling call setNeedsDisplay on the cell in my UITableViewController hoping that that will cause a redraw, but it doesn't work. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I am new to CoreGraphics & CoreAnimation. I have read through the CoreAnimation Developers Guide, but I'm assuming I missing something. Any help would be great.

  • unarchiveObjectWithFile retain / autorelease needed?

    - by fuzzygoat
    Just a quick memory management question if I may ... Is the code below ok, or should I be doing a retain and autorelease, I get the feeling I should. But as per the rules unarchiveObjectWithFile does not contain new, copy or alloc. -(NSMutableArray *)loadGame { if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:[self pathForFile:@"gameData.plist"]]) { NSMutableArray *loadedGame = [NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:[self pathForFile:@"gameData.plist"]]; return loadedGame; } else return nil; } or -(NSMutableArray *)loadGame { if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:[self pathForFile:@"gameData.plist"]]) { NSMutableArray *loadedGame = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:[self pathForFile:@"gameData.plist"]] retain]; return [loadedGame autorelease]; } else return nil; } gary

  • On-screen keyboard not appearing when editing text fields in a UIWebView

    - by andrewebling
    I have a web view which displays a simple login form, containing username and password fields. However when the user clicks in one of the text fields, although the cursor appears in the text field, the on-screen keyboard does not appear. I've tried registering for UIKeyboardWillShowNotifications notifications and I see this notification arrive, however the keyboard doesn't actually appear on the screen. I've also tried sending the web view to the back of the view hierarchy and changing it's frame so it doesn't occupy the whole screen. However neither of these measures have solved the problem. What would people recommend trying next?

  • NSURLConnection not "firing" until UITableView scrolls..

    - by Simon
    Hi, I've got a UITableView that loads an image asynchronously and places it in the UITableViewCell once it's loaded (I'm using almost the exact same code as in the "LazyTableImages" tutorial). This works fine for all images when I scroll the table, but it's not loading the images that are first in the view. The code is definitely working fine as the class that actually sends the NSURLConnection request is being called correctly (I added an NSLog and it reached the console). The NSURLConnection is just not calling the delegate methods (didReceiveData, connectionDidFinishLoading, etc). Here's my code: HomeController.m - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; NSArray *feed = [feeds objectAtIndex: indexPath.row]; /** * Name of person */ [...] /** * Feed entry */ [...] /** * Misc work */ [...] } FeedRecord *feedRecord = [self.entries objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; if( !feedRecord.image ) { if (self.table.dragging == NO && self.table.decelerating == NO) { [self startIconDownload:feedRecord forIndexPath:indexPath]; } cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"Placeholder.png"]; } return cell; } - (void)startIconDownload:(FeedRecord *)feedRecord forIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { IconDownloader *iconDownloader = [imageDownloadsInProgress objectForKey:indexPath]; if (iconDownloader == nil) { iconDownloader = [[IconDownloader alloc] init]; iconDownloader.feedRecord = feedRecord; iconDownloader.indexPathInTableView = indexPath; iconDownloader.delegate = self; [imageDownloadsInProgress setObject:iconDownloader forKey:indexPath]; [iconDownloader startDownload]; [iconDownloader release]; } } IconDownload.m #import "IconDownloader.h" #import "FeedRecord.h" #define kAppIconHeight 48 @implementation IconDownloader @synthesize feedRecord; @synthesize indexPathInTableView; @synthesize delegate; @synthesize activeDownload; @synthesize imageConnection; #pragma mark - (void)dealloc { [feedRecord release]; [indexPathInTableView release]; [activeDownload release]; [imageConnection cancel]; [imageConnection release]; [super dealloc]; } - (void)startDownload { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Started downloading", feedRecord.profilePicture); // this shows in log self.activeDownload = [NSMutableData data]; // alloc+init and start an NSURLConnection; release on completion/failure NSURLConnection *conn = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: [NSURL URLWithString:feedRecord.profilePicture]] delegate:self]; self.imageConnection = conn; NSLog(@"%@",conn); // this shows in log [conn release]; } - (void)cancelDownload { [self.imageConnection cancel]; self.imageConnection = nil; self.activeDownload = nil; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Download support (NSURLConnectionDelegate) - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Got data for", feedRecord.profilePicture); [self.activeDownload appendData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"%@",@"Fail!"); // Clear the activeDownload property to allow later attempts self.activeDownload = nil; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Done", feedRecord.profilePicture); // Set appIcon and clear temporary data/image UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:self.activeDownload]; self.feedRecord.image = image; self.activeDownload = nil; [image release]; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Our delegate is",delegate); // call our delegate and tell it that our icon is ready for display [delegate feedImageDidLoad:self.indexPathInTableView]; } @end Has anyone else experienced anything like this or can identify an issue with my code? Thanks!

  • Custom UITableViewCell not properly hiding views

    - by adamweeks
    I am using apple's custom table view cell code and modifying the drawRect code within the cell's view to look like I want it to. I've changed it to have some UILabels as well as a UIProgressView. If the data the cell is being built on doesn't have a certain field, I want the UIProgressView to be hidden. This works for a little while, but when a cell gets requeued, the progress view will start displaying again, even when I set it to hidden = YES. I've tried just not creating the ProgressView unless the data was there and that didn't work either. I thought the answer was in the [self setNeedsDisplay] but that doesn't seem to help. Here is the code for the progressview from drawRect that continues to be displayed: UIProgressView *c1Progress = [[UIProgressView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20.0, 70.0, 280.0, 12.0)]; float iProgress = (value / target); c1Progress.progress = iProgress; if (!dataExists) { c1Progress.hidden = YES; } [self addSubview:criteria1Progress]; [c1Progress release];

  • UIImagepickerController strange bug

    - by Rahul Vyas
    Hi, I'm doing something with UIImagePickerController. It works fine and the Picture browser does open, however, I get this message. "Failed to save the videos metadata to the filesystem. Maybe the information did not conform to a plist." What could be causing that? That is caused by this line [self presentModalViewController:self.imgPicker animated:YES]; which is activated on a button click Snippets of the code that I have below. - (void)viewDidLoad { self.imgPicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; self.imgPicker.allowsImageEditing = YES; self.imgPicker.delegate = self; } - (IBAction)grabImage { [self presentModalViewController:self.imgPicker animated:YES]; } it's also removing images from documents directory and from resources folder. I can not understand why? does someone found the solution to this?

  • NSXMLParser & memory leaks

    - by HBR
    Hi, I am parsing an XML file using a custom class that instanciates & uses NSXMLParser. On the first call everything is fine but on the second, third and later calls Instruments show tens of memory leaks on certain lines inside didEndElement, didEndElement and foundCharacters functions. I googled it and found some people having this issue, but I didn't find anything that could really help me. My Parser class looks like this : Parser.h @interface XMLParser : NSObject { NSMutableArray *data; NSMutableString *currentValue; NSArray *xml; NSMutableArray *videos; NSMutableArray *photos; NSXMLParser *parser; Could this be the same problem as the one mentioned (as an apple bug) by Lee Amtrong here :http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1598928/nsxmlparser-leaking

    I have the following method in UIImageManipulation.m: +(UIImage *)scaleImage:(UIImage *)source toSize:(CGSize)size { UIImage *scaledImage = nil; if (source != nil) { UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size); [source drawInRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, size.width, size.height)]; scaledImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); } return scaledImage; } I am calling it in a different view with: imageFromFile = [UIImageManipulator scaleImage:imageFromFile toSize:imageView.frame.size]; (imageView is a UIImageView allocated earlier) This is working great in my code. I resizes the image perfectly, and throws zero errors. I also don't have anything pop up under build - analyze. But the second I turn on NSZombieEnabled to debug a different EXC_BAD_ACCESS issue, the code breaks. Every single time. I can turn NSZombieEnabled off, code runs great. I turn it on, and boom. Broken. I comment out the call, and it works again. Every single time, it gives me an error in the console: -[UIImage release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3b1d600. This error doesn't appear if `NSZombieEnabled is turned off. Any ideas? --EDIT-- Ok, This is killing me. I have stuck breakpoints everywhere I can, and I still cannot get a hold of this thing. Here is the full code when I call the scaleImage method: -(void)setupImageButton { UIImage *imageFromFile; if (object.imageAttribute == nil) { imageFromFile = [UIImage imageNamed:@"no-image.png"]; } else { imageFromFile = object.imageAttribute; } UIImage *scaledImage = [UIImageManipulator scaleImage:imageFromFile toSize:imageButton.frame.size]; UIImage *roundedImage = [UIImageManipulator makeRoundCornerImage:scaledImage :10 :10 withBorder:YES]; [imageButton setBackgroundImage:roundedImage forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } The other UIImageManipulator method (makeRoundCornerImage) shouldn't be causing the error, but just in case I'm overlooking something, I threw the entire file up on github here. It's something about this method though. Has to be. If I comment it out, it works great. If I leave it in, Error. But it doesn't throw errors with NSZombieEnabled turned off ever.

    This Code trows an EXC_BAD_ACCESS: NSError* error; if(![appdelegate.managedObjectContext countForFetchRequest:request error:&error]) { DLog(@"Failed to save to data store: %@", [error localizedDescription]); NSArray* detailedErrors = [[error userInfo] objectForKey:NSDetailedErrorsKey]; if(detailedErrors != nil && [detailedErrors count] > 0) { for(NSError* detailedError in detailedErrors) { DLog(@" DetailedError: %@", [detailedError userInfo]); } } else { DLog(@" %@", [error userInfo]); } }
