  I having trouble with installation of Fedora and/or Centos. On first steps of installation, on step What type of devices will your installation involve, whatever I choose, same thing happen: I get window with message An unhandled exception has occurred. This is most likely a bug. Please save a copy of the detailed exception and file a bug report. In Details window there are lots of messages. At the end there are: ERR kernel:[ 81.854179] device-mapper: table: 253:1: raid45: unknown target type WARNING kernel:[ 81.854183] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table Same thing occur with several versions of Fedora (17 and 16, x64, live, etc) and with Centos distribution also. • How to install PHP5.3 and SQLite3 on Ubuntu 8.04

  Hello, I got a Ubuntu Hardy VPS and I am trying to install PHP5.3 with SQLite. I added the dotdeb PHP5.3 repository and succeeded in installing PHP5.3. But I need to install SQLite as well. When I'm trying to install php5-sqlite3 (sudo aptitude install php5-sqlite3) this is the output: The following packages are BROKEN: php5-sqlite3 The following NEW packages will be automatically installed: php-db php-pear php-sqlite3 The following NEW packages will be installed: php-db php-pear php-sqlite3 0 packages upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. • VSS Post Backup failures for Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 virtual machines

  We've been seeing strange errors with Volume Shadow Copy services on our Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 host. It appears to be failing on a strange mountpoint in the C:\WINDOWS\Temp\ folders, which I believe is used by VSS to mount a writeable image file. To summarize: The Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Writer continually goes into a failed retryable state The Virtual Server log reports errors during the Post Backup phase VSS reports errors backing up a mount point of unknown origins The mount point causes NTFS and ftdisk errors The host is x86 Windows Server 2003 Standard, SP2. The virtual machine is the same. Both use basic disks. Here is the writer state: Writer name: 'Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Writer' Writer Id: {76afb926-87ad-4a20-a50f-cdc69412ddfc} Writer Instance Id: {78df98e2-bf19-4804-890b-15865efef3bd} State: [11] Failed Last error: Retryable error From the Virtual Server log: Virtual Server - Vss Writer - Event ID: 1035: The VSS writer for Virtual Server failed during the PostBackup phase. The guest shadow copies did not get exposed on the host machine, after mounting all the virtual hard disks of the virtual machine VMACHINE. From the System log: Ntfs - Disk - Event ID: 55: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. My current theory is that VSS creates a mount point for an image file of the VHD, then the software panics for some reason, leaving everything in an inconsistent state. Removing the mount point doesn't resolve the problem. All of the other disks check out fine with CHKDSK. There's no exclusion option for VHDs or to turn off online backups. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before or point me in the right direction for getting more information about the mount point and it's origins? I haven't been able to trace what application is creating that mount point.

  Hi, I'm setting up a SQL Replication strategy, using MSSQL2008 with peer-to-peer publications (2 servers, each one subscribes to the other). I followed this HOWTO from MSDN, and the setup seems to be working fine: add a record to one table on server A, query on server B shows the new record. So far, so good. So far I only have one table 'Templates': Id PK (calculated field) NodeId int default 1/2 (Server A = 1, Server B = 2) LocalId int autoid Name nvarchar(100) Now, I would like to enable 'Conflict detection', which should be enabled by default. Having this setup without conflict detection feels pretty useless... EDIT OK, so after some more research and setting up with different databases etc, I found out that the calculated 'Id' column of the Templates table is the culprit. I don't know why, but the replication doesn't seem to allow calculated columns (which are also primary key). It works now too, without the 'Id' column, and using the NodeId and LocalId as a combined PK. So now the question is, why isn't it allowed to have a calculated column as PK for replication with conflict detection?

• sharepoint 2007 access denied when accessing user profiles via ssp

  Guys I have a really strange problem in regards to sharepoint mysites today I go into user profiles and properties in order to setup a property all of a sudden I get access denied. First off I know that I'm logged in with the correct account after the access denied I decided to click on personalization services and permissions I than get An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Cannot complete this action. I'm not seeing anything in the server application logs either. So have any of you guys seen this before is there some kind of way to grant a user account the manage profiles right permission using stsadm. BTW all other fucntions of the ssp are working fine so my question is if the user profiles and my sites of a ssp tanks how do you repair that portion of the ssp? BTW the user accounts that I'm using are site collection owners and also they have full control at the web application level. • Tomcat 7 taking ages to start up after upgrade

  I recently updated my server installation from Tomcat 6 to Tomcat 7, in order to take advantage of better connection pooling. My project uses Hibernate, for object persistance, a Mysql 5.5.20 database, and memcached for caching. When I was using Tomcat 6, Tomcat would start in about 8 seconds. After moving to Tomcat 7, it now takes between 75 - 80 seconds to start (this is on a Macbook pro 15", core i7 2Ghz, 8Gb of RAM). • Windows Vista SP2 and DEP Woes for Older Program

  I have a database client (4D 2004 Client... which, for the record, I vehemently hate but am forced to use because our company is still running this) that I'm trying to run in Windows Vista SP2. I've added the program to the DEP Exceptions list (per a 4D tech article detailing this problem... sorry, can't find the link now) and restarted the computer, but every time I try to log-in to our remote database, the program is shut down by Vista, citing a DEP event. And yes, I have restarted the computer several times, so the new DEP settings should be in effect. I'm a bit confused at this since I specifically added the 4DClient.exe to the DEP Exception list! I realize that very few (if any) of you might have this exact problem with this exact program, but can anyone shed light on the fact that DEP still seems to be enabled for a program that I've specifically added to the DEP exception list?!?

  I currently have a few KVM Guests on a dedicated server with bridged networking (this works) and i can successfully ping the outside ips i assign via ifconfig (in the guest). However, I received the following errors when trying to access a secured application such as https://apps.mydomain.com/webapp. java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to load configuration: ApplicationSSOTokenProvider.getApplicationSSOToken(): Unable to get Application SSO Token A second attempt gives the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sun.identity.agents.filter.AmFilterManager Along with these in the agent debug.out: ERROR: Failed to obtain auth service url from server: null://null:null ... SiteMonitor: Site URL http://secure.internal.com/openam/namingservice is not available. If I specify the server and agent urls using the proxy urls, then the agent appears to be working and I am redirected to the OpenAM login page. However, the goto in the URL is http://apps.mydomain.com/webapp instead of https://apps.mydomain.com/webapp (missing https). So after authentication, the redirect fails. Now I could possibly get by with mod_rewrite, but it feels hackish and I really want to know what's going on. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to use rdiff-backup in order to make backup copies of some folders inside an Ubuntu 8.04LTS server. I'm attempting to do the backup on another server with a more modern Ubuntu distro (9.10). I'll call this one the "client". rdiff-backup needs to be installed on both the client and the server. It is available on the apt repositories on both machines, so I installed it using sudo apt-get install rdiff-backup. The problem is that the version installed on the server is older than the one on the client (1.1.15 vs 1.2.8). Thus I get errors when I try do make them work together. So I need both versions to be the same. What is the standard procedure in these cases? Should I attempt to upgrade the version on the server, or downgrade the version on the client? And how whould I do that? • Perl wrapper to start daemon leaves zombie when run by cron

  I've got a Perl script to start a process as a daemon. But when I call it from cron I'm left with a defunct process. • How to either completely remove SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation or repair it?

  I've installed MSSQL server correctly, then I took some wrong turns and I'm now left in a pretty undesirable state. I wanted to change the server instance to another drive, so I uninstalled SQL server and all of it's features from the Programs and Features control panel. Now when I tried to install a new instance, I got a few errors, but it still installed most of them: Then I tried to run a repair, which I figured would fix things, but it throws an exception about not being able to read something from the CD (tried more than once always the same exception) Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file R:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\setup\SSCERuntime_x86-enu.msi , and it fails to repair a few of the features: And I don't have the server instance installed either. So I'm left with no MSSQLMS, no server instance, and no happiness. What would be the best course of action here?
