Windows XP drives not opening

I had a PC which operating system was Windows XP , I reinstalled the Windows , formatting just the C drive , and had my new version of XP installed there , but when it was installed and I tried to open the other drives (meaning for example D , E , .. ) I got this error : i9wjpqc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close I trying googling it , and I ended up with knowing it's a malware, so my guess is that my previous OS had this malware on its other drives and the source was located in C , now that I've formatted C , other drives still have the malware, so they can't be opened :( and suggestion to get the drives to open ?

Why don't the keyboard shortcuts (e.g. hotkeys like Ctrl-C) work in a SharePoint rich-text field?

I use SharePoint 2010 via Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP. I have a standard input mask for a task consisting of text fields, rich-text fields et al. In text fields, I can use keyboard shortcuts (a.k.a. hotkeys) for editing (Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V) and formatting (Ctrl-B/Ctrl-I), but in the richtext field, none of them work. If I click on the appropriate button, however, the expected function is executed properly - but that is a tedious workaround. What could be the cause? Could it be that the Ctrl key is not recognized at all? (BTW: The problem is not reproducible in Firefox, because it doesn't show the rich-text controls at all. Why is another question.)

How to disable template auto-format in Eclipse?

I have a template (sleep) in Eclipse 4.2.1 that should expand to try { Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (Exception e) {} I want Eclipse to add it as one line, just as I put it in the template. However, Eclipse autoformats it after inserting to: try { Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (Exception e) { } I have tried @formatter:off, but that does not work. I have code cleanup switched off. Is there any way to disable formatting for all templates, since the only templates I use are one-liners anyway?

Deleting Windows 8 install

I have a windows 7 pc, and I had installed windows 8 on an SSD, so it was the only partition on that SSD. I've now realised that I never use it, so I went to uninstall it and followed these steps. The PC now boots into 7, as expected, however I can't delete or format the drive that has windows 8 on it. The format dropdown selection is greyed out, and I tried to just simply delete all of the files and use the disk as is, but as windows 8 isn't there, I no longer have rights to delete all of the files, apparently. The drive in question has 3 partitions, one that I made for the win8 system, and 2 smaller system-created partitions (one 300MB recovery and 1 100MB EFI) How do I go about formatting the drive?

Backing up to USB drives in 2008 R2

I set up backups in 2008 R2 to backup to a USB drive, and the backup program formatted the drive so it doesn't appear with a drive letter. Rotating to the next of four backup drives breaks the backups because it has an NTFS partition on it. I don't see a way to prepare each of my USB drives to be used for backups. What kind of formatting is the backup program expecting to find and write to and how do I ensure my other USB drives can be rotated? Thanks.

jQuery Validate - require at least one field in a group to be filled

I'm using the excellent jQuery Validate Plugin to validate some forms. On one form, I need to ensure that the user fills in at least one of a group of fields. I think I've got a pretty good solution, and wanted to share it. Please suggest any improvements you can think of. Finding no built-in way to do this, I searched and found Rebecca Murphey's custom validation method, which was very helpful. I improved this in three ways: To let you pass in a selector for the group of fields To let you specify how many of that group must be filled for validation to pass To show all inputs in the group as passing validation as soon as one of them passes validation. So you can say "at least X inputs that match selector Y must be filled." The end result is a rule like this: partnumber: { require_from_group: [2,".productinfo"] } //The partnumber input will validate if //at least 2 `.productinfo` inputs are filled For best results, put this rule AFTER any formatting rules for that field (like "must contain only numbers", etc). This way, if the user gets an error from this rule and starts filling out one of the fields, they will get immediate feedback about the formatting required without having to fill another field first. Item #3 assumes that you're adding a class of .checked to your error messages upon successful validation. You can do this as follows, as demonstrated here. success: function(label) { label.html(" ").addClass("checked"); } As in the demo linked above, I use CSS to give each span.error an X image as its background, unless it has the class .checked, in which case it gets a check mark image. Android Actionbar Tabs + Fragments + Service

So, I have 3 problems with my code: 1) I want that each tab saves its state. So that a TextView shows changed text if it was changed. 2) if I go to Tab2 then to Tab1 I can't see the content of the fragments. Only if I touch on the already selected tab, it shows me the content 3) I can't correctly connect/bind and unbind service to Fragment Text must be changed from Service. Maven2 multi-module ejb 3.1 project - deployment error

The problem is taht I get the following error qhile deploying my project to Glassfish: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to load EJB module. DeploymentContext does not contain any EJB Check archive to ensure correct packaging But, let us start on how the project structure looks like in Maven2... I've build the following scenario: MultiModuleJavaEEProject - parent module - model --- packaged as jar - ejb1 ---- packaged as ebj - ejb2 ---- packaged as ebj - web ---- packaged as war So model, ejb1, ejb2 and web are children/modules of the parent MultiModuleJavaEEProject. _ejb1 depends on model. _ejb2 depends on ejb1. _web depends on ejb2. the pom's look like: _parent: <?xml version="1.0" Hi I am using jquery 1.3.2 and asp.net mvc 1.0. Originally I was using some other rich html editor but I ran into one major problem when a user pasted in text from open office or MS office it would bring along tons of styling junk. If a user like wrote one sentence what was like 25 characters and pasted that into my current html editor the count would 25,000 characters and I don't want to store all that junk( I can't afford to). So tinyMCE seems to not have this problem. However I got some questions. It seems if you want to use for commercial use(what my site is but currently is not making very much at this time) you need to get a commercial license. However it does not say if it is free or if it will cost money. I am assuming it means that you will have to pay but I would like to confirm this. So do you have to pay for a license to use tinyMCe if your using it for commercial use? Can't connect to SSL web service with WS-Security using PHP SOAP extension - certificate, complex WSDL

Using the PHP5 SOAP extension I have been unable to connect to a web service having an https endpoint, with client certificate and using WS-Security, although I can connect using soapUI with the exact same wsdl and client certificate, and obtain the normal response to the request. There is no HTTP authentication and no proxy is involved. The message I get is 'Could not connect to host'. Have been able to verify that I am NOT hitting the host server. (Earlier I wrongly said that I was hitting the server.) The self-signed client SSL certificate is a .pem file converted by openssl from a .p12 keystore which in turn was converted by keytool from a .jks keystore having a single entry consisting of private key and client certificate. In soapUI I did not need to supply a server private certificate, the only two files I gave it were the wdsl and pem. I did have to supply the pem and its passphrase to be able to connect. I am speculating that despite the error message my problem might actually be in the formation of the XML request rather than the SSL connection itself. The wsdl I have been given has nested complex types. The php server is on my Windows XP laptop with IIS. The code, data values and WSDL extracts are shown below. (The WSSoapClient class simply extends SoapClient, adding a WS-Security Username Token header with mustUnderstand = true and including a nonce, both of which the soapUI call had required.) EntityManager injection works in JBoss 7.1.1 but not WebSphere 7

I've built an EJB that will manage my database access. I'm building a web app around it that uses Struts 2. The problem I'm having is when I deploy the ear, the EntityManager doesn't get injected into my service class (and winds up null and results in NullPointerExceptions). The weird thing is, it works on JBoss 7.1.1 but not on WebSphere 7. You'll notice that Struts doesn't inject the EJB, so I've got some intercepter code that does that. My current working theory right now is that the WS7 container can't inject the EntityManager because of Struts for some unknown reason. My next step is to try Spring next, but I'd really like to get this to work if possible. I've spent a few days searching and trying various things and haven't had any luck. I figured I'd give this a shot. Jeff Julian started the site in 2003 and since then him and John Alexander (AJI Software) have done a great job with the community. I am a long time friend of theirs and I was actually one of the first bloggers on the site in 2003. I am excited to take over the reins and I have a lot of plans to improve the blog platform and community. My goal is to make the site the #1 blogging site for all IT professionals. Metro: Query Selectors

The goal of this blog entry is to explain how to perform queries using selectors when using the WinJS library. In particular, you learn how to use the WinJS.Utilities.query() method and the QueryCollection class to retrieve and modify the elements of an HTML document. Introduction to Selectors When you are building a Web application, you need some way of easily retrieving elements from an HTML document. For example, you might want to retrieve all of the input elements which have a certain class. Or, you might want to retrieve the one and only element with an id of favoriteColor. The standard way of retrieving elements from an HTML document is by using a selector. Anyone who has ever created a Cascading Style Sheet has already used selectors. You use selectors in Cascading Style Sheets to apply formatting rules to elements in a document. For example, the following Cascading Style Sheet rule changes the background color of every INPUT element with a class of .required in a document to the color red: input.red { background-color: red } The “input.red” part is the selector which matches all INPUT elements with a class of red. The W3C standard for selectors (technically, their recommendation) is entitled “Selectors Level 3” and the standard is located here: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-selectors/ Selectors are not only useful for adding formatting to the elements of a document. Selectors are also useful when you need to apply behavior to the elements of a document. For example, you might want to select a particular BUTTON element with a selector and add a click handler to the element so that something happens whenever you click the button. Selectors are not specific to Cascading Style Sheets. You can use selectors in your JavaScript code to retrieve elements from an HTML document. jQuery is famous for its support for selectors. Using jQuery, you can use a selector to retrieve matching elements from a document and modify the elements. The WinJS library enables you to perform the same types of queries as jQuery using the W3C selector syntax. Performing Queries with the WinJS.Utilities.query() Method When using the WinJS library, you perform a query using a selector by using the WinJS.Utilities.query() method. The following HTML document contains a BUTTON and a DIV element: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Application1</title>  <link href="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/css/ui-dark.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/base.js"></script> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/ui.js"></script>  <link href="/css/default.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="/js/default.js"></script> </head> <body> <button>Click Me!</button> <div style="display:none"> <h1>Secret Message</h1> </div> </body> </html> The document contains a reference to the following JavaScript file named \js\default.js: (function () { "use strict"; var app = WinJS.Application; app.onactivated = function (eventObject) { if (eventObject.detail.kind === Windows.ApplicationModel.Activation.ActivationKind.launch) { WinJS.Utilities.query("button").listen("click", function () { WinJS.Utilities.query("div").clearStyle("display"); }); } }; app.start(); })(); The default.js script uses the WinJS.Utilities.query() method to retrieve all of the BUTTON elements in the page. The listen() method is used to wire an event handler to the BUTTON click event. When you click the BUTTON, the secret message contained in the hidden DIV element is displayed. The clearStyle() method is used to remove the display:none style attribute from the DIV element. Under the covers, the WinJS.Utilities.query() method uses the standard querySelectorAll() method. This means that you can use any selector which is compatible with the querySelectorAll() method when using the WinJS.Utilities.query() method. The querySelectorAll() method is defined in the W3C Selectors API Level 1 standard located here: http://www.w3.org/TR/selectors-api/ Unlike the querySelectorAll() method, the WinJS.Utilities.query() method returns a QueryCollection. We talk about the methods of the QueryCollection class below. Retrieving a Single Element with the WinJS.Utilities.id() Method If you want to retrieve a single element from a document, instead of matching a set of elements, then you can use the WinJS.Utilities.id() method. For example, the following line of code changes the background color of an element to the color red: WinJS.Utilities.id("message").setStyle("background-color", "red"); The statement above matches the one and only element with an Id of message. For example, the statement matches the following DIV element: <div id="message">Hello!</div> Notice that you do not use a hash when matching a single element with the WinJS.Utilities.id() method. You would need to use a hash when using the WinJS.Utilities.query() method to do the same thing like this: WinJS.Utilities.query("#message").setStyle("background-color", "red"); Under the covers, the WinJS.Utilities.id() method calls the standard document.getElementById() method. The WinJS.Utilities.id() method returns the result as a QueryCollection. If no element matches the identifier passed to WinJS.Utilities.id() then you do not get an error. Instead, you get a QueryCollection with no elements (length=0). Using the WinJS.Utilities.children() method The WinJS.Utilities.children() method enables you to retrieve a QueryCollection which contains all of the children of a DOM element. For example, imagine that you have a DIV element which contains children DIV elements like this: <div id="discussContainer"> <div>Message 1</div> <div>Message 2</div> <div>Message 3</div> </div> You can use the following code to add borders around all of the child DIV element and not the container DIV element: var discussContainer = WinJS.Utilities.id("discussContainer").get(0); WinJS.Utilities.children(discussContainer).setStyle("border", "2px dashed red"); It is important to understand that the WinJS.Utilities.children() method only works with a DOM element and not a QueryCollection. Notice that the get() method is used to retrieve the DOM element which represents the discussContainer. Working with the QueryCollection Class Both the WinJS.Utilities.query() method and the WinJS.Utilities.id() method return an instance of the QueryCollection class. The QueryCollection class derives from the base JavaScript Array class and adds several useful methods for working with HTML elements: addClass(name) – Adds a class to every element in the QueryCollection. clearStyle(name) – Removes a style from every element in the QueryCollection. conrols(ctor, options) – Enables you to create controls. get(index) – Retrieves the element from the QueryCollection at the specified index. getAttribute(name) – Retrieves the value of an attribute for the first element in the QueryCollection. hasClass(name) – Returns true if the first element in the QueryCollection has a certain class. include(items) – Includes a collection of items in the QueryCollection. listen(eventType, listener, capture) – Adds an event listener to every element in the QueryCollection. query(query) – Performs an additional query on the QueryCollection and returns a new QueryCollection. removeClass(name) – Removes a class from the every element in the QueryCollection. removeEventListener(eventType, listener, capture) – Removes an event listener from every element in the QueryCollection. setAttribute(name, value) – Adds an attribute to every element in the QueryCollection. setStyle(name, value) – Adds a style attribute to every element in the QueryCollection. template(templateElement, data, renderDonePromiseContract) – Renders a template using the supplied data. toggleClass(name) – Toggles the specified class for every element in the QueryCollection. Because the QueryCollection class derives from the base Array class, it also contains all of the standard Array methods like forEach() and slice(). Summary In this blog post, I’ve described how you can perform queries using selectors within a Windows Metro Style application written with JavaScript. You learned how to return an instance of the QueryCollection class by using the WinJS.Utilities.query(), WinJS.Utilities.id(), and WinJS.Utilities.children() methods. You also learned about the methods of the QueryCollection class.

I'll try to make this scenario as clear as possible. Laptop Specs HP dv6-2189la: 500 HDD 4GB Ram Intel i7 Personal Specs - Linux newbie running for the first time. Quite confused :( I had Windows 7 x64, decided to start fresh new so I planned on formatting. Since I use it for work and didn't require it for another week, I didn't rush into installing Win 7 immediately as I wanted to try Ubuntu for quite a while. 1) Downloaded Ubuntu 11.1 2) Burned ISO to CD 3) Installed Ubuntu using the full HDD of 500GB erasing Win7 4) Ubuntu ran awesome (especially for me being a Linux Newbie from scratch) I used Ubuntu for a while, but now I need to get back to work with Win 7. Tried running the installation CD for Win 7 and it just skips to Ubuntu without loading. Checked BIOS, tried other discs, even tried the disc on another computer and it works. Since that didn't work, I tried running Win XP. This CD does load, it starts loading files, drives, kernel, blah blah and before even getting to install it Blue screens with error 0x0000007b. I already used Gparted and created up to 250 GB space for Windows. Formatted to NTFS. I really don´t know what do now. I've tried almost everything I know within my knowledge. I could say I'm an advanced PC user, but I bumped into the Linux wall starting from scratch. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

I tried installing fbreader, following all the steps, but ended up with unmet dependencies, i also think a file is referenced in two locations at once and hence killing it.. any ideas how I can fix it? i've done alot of research and tried: simon@simon-Studio-1558:~$ sudo apt-get -f install Reading package lists... A standard style guide or best-practice guide for web application development

I run a very small team of developers on a web application, just three people (and not even full time). We're all capable developers, but we write our code in very different ways: we name similar things in different ways, we use different HTML and CSS to achieve similar outcomes. We can manage this OK because we're small, but can't help feeling it would be better to get some standards in place. Are there any good style guides or best-practice guides for web application development that we can use to keep our code under control? Sure, we could write them ourselves. But the reality is that with lots to do and very few staff, we're not going to bother. We need something off the shelf that we can tinker with rather than start from scratch. What we're not looking for here is basic code formatting rules like "whether to use tabs or spaces" or "where to put line breaks" — we can control this by standardising our IDEs. What we are looking for are rules for code and markup. For example: What HTML markup should be used for headers, tables, sidebars, buttons, etc. When to add new CSS styles, and what to name them When IDs should be allocated to HTML elements, and what to name them How Javascript functions should be declared and called How to pick an appropriate URL for given page or AJAX call When to use each HTTP method, ie POST vs GET vs PUT etc How to name server-side methods (Java, in our case) How to throw and handle errors and exceptions in a consistent way etc, etc.

How can I promote clean coding at my workplace?

I work with a lot of legacy Java and RPG code on an internal company application. As you might expect, a lot of the code is written in many different styles, and often is difficult to read because of poorly named variables, inconsistent formatting, and contradictory comments (if they're there at all). Also, a good amount of code is not robust. Many times code is pushed to production quickly by the more experienced programmers, while code by newer programmers is held back by "code reviews" that IMO are unsatisfactory. (They usually take the form of, "It works, must be ok," than a serious critique of the code.) We have a fair number of production issues, which I feel could be lessened by giving more thought to the original design and testing. I have been working for this company for about 4 months, and have been complimented on my coding style a couple of times. My manager is also a fan of cleaner coding than is the norm. Is it my place to try to push for better style and better defensive coding, or should I simply code in the best way I can, and hope that my example will help others see how cleaner, more robust code (as well as aggressive refactoring) will result in less debugging and change time?

What is spreadsheet useful for?

I have been in computer business for 15 years in various roles (sysadmin, developer, researcher), and I have never encountered someone using excel for something more advanced than for formatting tables, or as an ad-hoc database that could have been maintained in a text-file. I had to do heavy data-processing and plotting and for that I used some perl scripts + gnuplot, got tiredof it, and went over to R eventually. 2D spreadsheet just didn't seem well-suited for doing statistical analyses over 5-dimensional datasets (not to mention that it produces UGLY plots). I attempted to use spreadsheet for time-tracking, and found out that I would have better been served by a relational database, so I gave up on using excel for that too. For example, it's important to consistently name tasks, and I needed to find out unique task names in a given column across several sheets (I had one timesheet for each month). How do you make such "query" in a program that essentially evaluates independent cells and has little notion of relations between them? So, what are spreadsheets useful for? Why do they have a bunch of mathematical stuff built into them when, AFAICT, people use them mostly as table formatters or bad substitutes for databases?

Cool SQL formatter tool

I have to deal with all types of code that was written by people from different organizations, different countries, using different languages, obviously standards are different across these sources. One of the biggest headaches that I ahve come across is how people differ in the formatting of their SQL statements, specifically stored procs. When you regularly get over 500 lines in a sproc, if the code is not formatted correctly, you can get lost trying to figure out where one nested BEGIN begins, and another nested END ends. One of my co-workers showed me this site today that does a pretty damn good job of making sense of that type of code: http://www.dpriver.com/pp/sqlformat.htm. This is a free website that offers a box to enter your nasty code, and click "Format SQL" and have it clean it for you. I am sure that there are situations where this may not work, but given the code that I have been working with recently, it does a really good job. There is a pay version with more options, including VS add-in, desktop component (with quickkeys to clean text in programs like notepad), the ability to output in HTML, and other stuff. Heck, I watched a demo where the purchased version will take formatted SQL code and turn it into a generic Stringbuilder object embedded in a formatted. Yes, this seems like a shameless plug, but no, I have no relation/knowledge of anyone involved in the development of this product, it just seems useful. Either way, I recommend checking out the free version.
