• Change user login in Windows 7 (after a misprint in username)

  I have an install of Windows 7 that I've already put a few days into. Today I realized I've made a mistake in the username and it's driving me nuts (my personal OCD). While changing the physical folder name is perhaps possible, though quite involved, I do not want to open that can of worms. What I want to do is simply change the username I give when the login prompt shows up. I thought it's possible by just renaming the user account in the User Accounts but that didn't work. Is it possible to do then? Or is the only way to create another user and spend hour migrating everything I'd already customized to that user?

• The best way to learn how to extend Orchard

  We do have tutorials on the Orchard site, but we can't cover all topics, and recently I've found myself more and more responding to forum questions by pointing people to an existing module that was solving a similar problem to the one the question was about. I really like this way of learning by example and from the expertise of others. This is one of the reasons why we decided that modules would by default come in source code form that we compile dynamically. it makes them easy to understand and easier to modify for your own purposes. Hackability FTW! But how do you crack open a module and look at what's inside? You can do it in two different ways. First, you can just install the module from the gallery, directly from your Orchard instance's admin panel. Once you've done that, you can just look into your Modules directory under the web site. There is now a subfolder with the name of the new module that contains a csproj that you can open in Visual Studio or add to your Orchard solution. Second, you can simply download the package (it's NuGet) and rename it to a .zip extension. NuGet being based on Zip, this will open just fine in Windows Explorer: What you want to dig into is the Content/Modules/[NameOfTheModule] folder, which is where the actual code is. Now we’re back to highlight the most popular techniques, tricks, and services. By far and away, Xmarks was the most frequently mentioned service. For the unfamiliar, Xmarks is a bookmark syncing service that is packed with features. Not only does Xmarks sync bookmarks between browsers and/or computers it also supports iOS, Android, and BlackBerry (mobile integration requires an upgrade to the premium account). In addition to syncing the bookmarks it also integrates with your search results so you can see how other Xmarks users have ranked sites within your search results. Steve-O-Rama highlights one of the many benefits of Xmarks: Xmarks seems to do the job for me. I’ve got a handful of machines, each with three or four browsers; over the years, I’ve accumulated thousands of bookmarks, stretching across many areas of interest. Trying to keep them all straight had been quite a struggle until Xmarks came along. I freaked out when the company was acquired by LastPass, but was subsequently relieved when they continued the free service. Xmarks has a very nice web interface to access, export, search, organize, and do many other things with your bookmarks. In this way, even if I’m on the go, I can access every bookmark I’ve made. Even so, I still make occasional local backups, directly from the browsers to a network folder. • NFS mount mounted inside another NFS mount disappears randomly

  I have quite an odd issue where my nested NFS mounts just disappear randomly from time to time. The fstab entries look somewhat like this: nfs:/home /home/nfs rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,noatime,nocto,proto=tcp 0 0 nfs:/bigdir /home/bigdir nfs rw,hard,intr,rsize=32768,noatime,nocto,proto=tcp,bg 0 0 The issue is that from time to time the "/home/bigdir" folder will be empty, even though mtab think that the share is still mounted. nfsstat et. al. do also think the share is still mounted. Only thing that works is by unmounting, and then (re)mounting the bigdir share. The server side is a NetApp. The client side is RHEL5.5, 2.6.18-194 kernel (Yes, I know 5.8 is out, but as far as I can see there are no erratas for this particular issue). I can use various hacks like automount, or mounting it to another path and then using --mount bind, but I would like to fix the underlying issue. -- Best regards Espen Fjellvær Olsen

• Can't get PDO MySQL driver to work on PHP

  Trying to install Vanilla 2 locally using MAMP i got the error: "You must have the MySQL driver for PDO enabled in order for Vanilla to connect to your database". When I check phpinfo() I see: --with-pdo-mysql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library --with-pdo-pgsql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library/pg When I go and check out those paths I find the files: libpq.5.dylib libpq.dylib libpq.5.2.dylib When I check my php.ini file I see: ; Extensions extension=pdo_mysql.so In php.ini the path to the extension dir is correct (checked it manually): extension_dir = "/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/" In this folder I find the file: pdo_mysql.so phpinfo() gives me two sections: PDO PDO drivers: sqlite, sqlite2 and pdo_sqlite SQLite Library: 3.6.22 So everything seems to be fine, but can't get the PDO MySQL driver working :(

• Print Preview Blank IE8

  On a Windows XP, in IE8 print preview always appears completely blank except for header information. I can open the generated temp file in firefox and print it from there. I have tried browsing without addons to no success. I have tried re-creating the "%TEMP%\low" folder as described on the web, e.g. here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_xp/ie8-printing-does-not-work-preview-empty/920588e5-ccc4-4e24-83d6-606d5e3b1c70 ... all with no success.

• Baffling Exchange 2010 issue , Outlook 2003

  Recently we upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. The Exchange 2003 server is still up and active with a handful of users still there we are planning on migrating. Also we have mobile devices and a Blackberry BES server setup publishing to Exchange 2010 public folders free busy. The unfortunate issue is majority of our clients are still Outlook 2003. The issue seems to be hit and miss but sometime clients cannot view other client’s calendars. They get (cannot refresh free/busy) when they add another user and check their available times. This is also true with booking resources (conference rooms) . One thing we noticed is that the Blackberry BES seems to have created its own free/busy folders, so we have some users who use the BES on free/busy folder and other users who don’t use the BES on other free/busy folders. If any of the clients log-in via “Exchange 2010” web-access or with a Outlook 2007 client they can view the calendaring just fine. Thanks for your help Nick @Toshana

• Mozilla Thunderbird new emails indication colour

  I've recently upgraded Mozilla Thunderbird to v3 on Winodws XP. In v2 I think when new (Pop 3) emails were downloaded, there were a little star icon next to my local folders where it's filtered to as to indicate new emails. In v3, it seems they've changed it to use different colour to highlight the folder instead. Whereas folders with existing unread emails are highlighted in bold black, folders with new unread emails are highlighted in this light grey greenish colour that's really hard to see. Can anyone please tell me how to modify the colour? I'm guessing it's either some lines in a userChrome.css file, or modifying a field in the config editor. Thanks. :)

• Error while loading shared libraries - libwebsock

  Im trying to setup libwebsock, simple C websocket library. I followed the installation procedure from INSTALL file, everything went fine. Im able to compile test program given in the examples. But when I want to run my executable, wild error appears: ./echo: error while loading shared libraries: libwebsock.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I checked /usr/local/lib twice, libwebsock.so.1 exists and is doing very well. I also tried copying the lib to the echo folder (so its placed next to binary), still same error. It's quite funny for me: shadowz@Ubu:~/WebSocket$ ls echo echo.c echo.cpp libwebsock.so.1 shadowz@Ubu:~/WebSocket$ ./echo ./echo: error while loading shared libraries: libwebsock.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Any suggestions?   I use Outlook 2013 and an IMAP account for my mails. I have configured several filters (rules) directly in the webmail application of my provider in order to deliver certain mails, e.g., from my boss, into certain folders other then the "inbox". Note that I did not define any rules in Outlook itself and I also do not want to do so (because I want these mails being delivered into the folders not only in Outlook but also on other devices). The problem is that that I receive desktop notifications only for incoming mails in the main folder ("Inbox") but not for mails in any of the other folders.

• Postfix configuration: different outgoing hosts based on sender

  I've seen a few answers to this on the web, but nothing definitive nor any good examples. I relay all my mail out through Postfix, currently everything sent to my ISP's mail server. However, there are a few users with gmail accounts or gmail-hosted accounts; I'd like to route their outgoing mail through Google's servers (since it will then appear in their Gmail sent folder). All email NOT from one of these senders should go out through the default relayhost. I believe I need to use the "sender_dependent_default_transport_maps" configuration within Postfix, but can't find a good example on what this setup looks like. Can anyone point me at a specific setup?

  When i start wuala on the linux commandline like this, it logs me in and the folder is mounted: wualamcd login username password enableAutoLogin I can shut it down from another console typing wuala shutdown But how do I actually use the auto login that I just set using the enableAutoLogin switch? What is the command to start it again, so it logs in but does not need the password? I tried wualamcd login and wuala starts but no one gets logged in. Auto login in gui mode works fine. This is 32 bit linux with openjdk 6 JRE.

  I have a backup batch file that uses Robocopy to backup my files: robocopy "C:\" "G:\Default\RoboCopyBackup\C" /XF Pagefile.sys /XD "System Volume Information" "Recycler" "Temporary Internet Files" "Installer Cache" "Temp" /E /R:1 /W:0 /TEE /XJ This should create a folder structure on the external backup drive like so: G:\Default\RoboCopyBackup\C\... However, G: appears totally empty. What is weird, is that the folders and files are there! If I type the above path into the address bar, I see all the files and folders! Can anyone help me work out why? I think it might be some NTFS-based ownership/permissions thing but I'm not sure.

  Have a SBS2003 client with a mess of a domain that is in process of being cleaned. But, for the life of me I cannot find a setting that will allow write access to the local hard disk for domain users with redirected profiles(to the server). This is needed only for one program that will not follow a symbolic link to the network path, instead it seems to be hard coded to the %appdata% folder but only on the c: drive.... So question is how can I allow "Domain users" write access to the local %appdata% directory? I have tried setting it manually on a machine but it kept resetting to RO no matter how many times I tried. Everytime I would uncheck the RO property it would reset sometime right after i hit OK.   This should be simple (because I assume everyone has this problem) but googling and searching of serverfault didn't help much. I'd like all messages sent to our "office@companyname" to be visible by everyone and I'd like anyone to be able to respond. I also need everyone to at least SEE that a given message has already been answered (the ability to see the actual response would be nice). I tried using an shared folder for this but it fails miserably because replying to emails leaves no trace, not even for the user that actually sent the message. I'm open to any kind of solution, even commercial add-on solutions.

• Is there any way to get tree organisation for Windows 7 file explorer favorites?

  In XP there was a MenuBar called Favorites which seemed to be based on Internet Explorer Favorites. It was fantastic because it allowed for very fast tree style navigation (if set up correctly you could navigate it using first letter keystrokes, so to access a shortcut named "videos" in a folder named "files" was as quick as Alt-A f v) This was removed in Vista (and imo generally regressed the file explorer). This was fine because I never used it, but I'm resigned to eventually embracing the inevitability that is Windows 7. Dealing with a single non-nested list of favourites is pretty painful to me as I have quite a lot of them. Is there a way to make a tree like favorites structure in Windows 7? My fingers are crossed.

  I have two webapps, prod-1.2.1.war and test-2.0.0.war. If I put these straight into the "tomcat/webapps"-folder, they'll get deployed as; hXXp://localhost/prod-1.2.1/ hXXp://localhost/test-2.0.0/ This works but really I would like them to show up as; hXXp://localhost/vegshop/prod/ hXXp://localhost/vegshop/test/ As you see I somehow would like the "vegshop" to be included in the context path. I also would like the version-numbering to disappear without having to rename the WAR-files. Thank you. This is Apache Tomcat v6.0 under Linux 2.6, running SUN JDK 1.6.

• Gmail for Googleapps mail delivery issues

  I have a google apps domain running gmail. One of the owners of one of the email accounts is complaining that some emails don't get delivered to him. I sent him an email that did not get to its destination on one hand but I got no NDR on the other hand. I have already checked that the email was not on in his spam folder. The only thing that he has there is a forwarding rule that is also set up to leave the original in place. I am looking for any tools or ideas on how to debug this.

• OpenVPN Setup - Service Won't Start

  I'm in the process of setting up OpenVPN on a VPS running Debian 6. I've walked step-by-step through this guide twice now, and I can't get the service to start. When I start the service, the error reported in the log file is: Cannot ioctl TUNSETIFF tun: Inappropriate ioctl for device (errno=25) I've searched the web a few times and I'm not finding anything helpful. I've tried: Changing file permissions: no change Deleting the file: get an error stating no file found (errno=2) Making a folder named "tun": get an error stating no file found (errno=2) I've wiped my installation and completed the steps verbatim twice now. I get no errors along the way, just the error above within my log file. The contents of my server.conf file are listed below, minus all the comments for brevity. • Which Wine DLLs should I *not* overwrite with the real thing?

  I have a legit installation of Windows XP and dual boot with Ubuntu (currently Karmic). WineHQ says it's possible to use DLLs from a real installation of Windows in place of "DLLs that Wine does not currently implement very well". So I'd like to just create softlinks that point to all of the DLLs in my real Windows System32 folder, under the theory that this would help things function better and behave in a less buggy, more native way. But should I go as far as replacing the Wine DLLs with the real ones? If so, are there any DLLs that need to remain the way they are for compatibility with the Linux world? Which ones are safe to replace?

• Setting up phpMemCacheAdmin on CentOS 5.5

  I have been able to setup phpMemCacheAdmin (http://code.google.com/p/phpmemcacheadmin/) on CentOS and am able to view the localhost MemCache statistics however whenever I add other MemCached nodes the config is never changed. I am fairly certain it has something to do with permissions however I am unable to track down what exactly needs to be done, or how to do it. The install was pretty straightforward: wget http://phpmemcacheadmin.googlecode.com/files/phpMemCacheAdmin-1.1.3r161.tar.gz tar xvzf phpMemCacheAdmin-1.1.3r161.tar.gz chmod +w Config/Memcache.ini But, it also states that Apache has rw right in the temp file folder (default : Temp/) and the entire config directory (Config/) -- that is the part I am unsure of. Help!
