  • Why my VPN doesn't work anymore?

    I have openvpn server running on debian lenny. There is only one client - and it is running Windows 7 64-bit. This has worked for few months without any problems. And now, let's say for the last 7 days, it doesn't work at all. I connect successfully from client to the server, but I can't access anything through VPN. I have set it up so that all internet traffic is routed through VPN, and now when I connect with the client, the client can't do anything on the net (open any webpage, ping google, anything ...). Can you help me to figure out what's wrong ? I don't know where to start. I've also tried to connect to another openvpn server (I've installed and configured openvpn on another server, and when I try to connect to it result is the same). So I think there's something wrong with client ...   • Trouble with inheritance

    I'm relatively new to programming so excuse me if I get some terms wrong (I've learned the concepts, I just haven't actually used most of them). Trouble: I currently have a class I'll call Bob its parent class is Cody, Cody has method call Foo(). I want Bob to have the Foo() method as well, except with a few extra lines of code. I've attempted to do Foo() : base(), however that doesn't seem to work like. Is there some simple solution to this?

    I'm testing boost::thread on a system. It happens that I needed to act as a fork(), because one thread modifies the other variables, even member variables of class I do the project using fork() or is there some alternative still using boost::thread? Basically I run this program in Linux and maybe FreeBSD. It is an http proxy,accept() in main thread, and a function that accepts a class (where there is the file descriptor socket) in a secondary thread that makes the service. Is there a better way to implement a proxy?

Could you tell me the pitfalls and features of C++/CLI? Assume I know all of C# and start from there. I'm not an expert in C++, so some of my questions' answers might be "just like C++", but could say that I am at C#. I would like to know things like: Converting C++ pointers to CLI pointers, Any differences in passing by value/doubly indirect pointers/CLI pointers from C#/C++ and what is 'recommended'. How do gcnew, __gc, __nogc work with Polymorphism Structs Inner classes Interfaces The "fixed" keyword; does that exist? Compiling DLLs loaded into the kernel with C++/CLI possible? Loaded as device drivers? Invoked by the kernel? What does this mean anyway (i.e. to load something into the kernel exactly; how do I know if it is?)? L"my string" versus "my string"? wchar_t? How many types of chars are there? Are we safe in treating chars as uint32s or what should one treat them as to guarantee language indifference in code?     I remember, I have a GoF book back in college about design patterns which helped me a lot with my C and C++ programming, since my jump ship to Rails I was trying to use those design patterns I learned previously, Rails is a relatively new paradigm to me, plurals, verbs, REST, DRY.. Can you give me a recommended book for Rails that I can easily understand what I previously learned back in College. P.S. I suspect Matz knew about the GoF book, and applied it on Ruby... :-)

    I am testing a java web service(jax-ws),but whenever i am running the test i am getting response code as response message:Read timed out . But i am clue less because same web service i can access form an application.

  • Which language/framework to use for this desktop internet application?

    I'd like to experiment with a new language/framework to work on some desktop tools for myself, which will do tasks related to internet services. I.e. i'd like to to monitor some of my servers for http or icmp response, also parse xml responses. I have experience with php, lua, mysql, and basic knowledge of java and c++. I'm also interested in exploring multithreading for this, background tasks and a responsive gui do need that as i have read. Being a private project, i certainly want to learn something new, but i don't have that much free time. The question for you would be which language and what framework to choose that could help me with this tasks: lightweight + fast gui (windows only would be ok, platform-independent even better) network/socket support, html module would be appreciated htmlview support xml "parsing" support (xpath or something like the phpish DOMDocument class) threading support Free software would be nice, but paying some bucks won't hurt me if it really helps the case.

    Seems Adobe ignores strong movement now towards the productive programming. E.g. flash builder ide lacks keyboard shortcuts that are very useful in eclipse. If code templates, extract method, extract local variables are covered by some not-free plugins (and not cheap) like source mate, expanding selection to enclosing element I cannot find how to enable. Maybe you guys know some plugins doing that? Usually in eclipse it is Alt Shift Up to select enclosing block.

    I learned programming on the job via high-level languages. I'm trying to gain a better understanding of the lower-level workings of computing and picked up "Design of the UNIX Operating System" by Maurice Bach. What do I need to know in terms of which topics in this book may not be relevant to understanding Linux nuts and bolts? Is there a newer book or Linux-specific book that I should read instead? I really like the clarity of this particular book, though.
