  • Encode double quotes inside XML element using LINQ to XML

    - by davekaro
I'm parsing a string of XML into an XDocument that looks like this (using XDocument.Parse) <Root> <Item>Here is &quot; Some text&quot;</Item> </Root> Then I manipulate the XML a bit, and I want to send it back out as a string, just like it came in <Root> <Item>Here is &quot; Some text&quot;</Item> <NewItem>Another item</NewItem> </Root> However, what I am getting is <Root> <Item>Here is \"Some text\"</Item> <NewItem>Another item</NewItem> </Root> Notice how the double quotes are now escaped instead of encoded? This happens whether I use ToString(SaveOptions.DisableFormatting); or var stringWriter = new System.IO.StringWriter(); xDoc.Save(stringWriter, SaveOptions.DisableFormatting); var newXml = stringWriter.GetStringBuilder().ToString(); How can I have the double quotes come out as &quot; and not \"? UPDATE: Maybe this can explain it better: var origXml = "<Root><Item>Here is \"Some text&quot;</Item></Root>"; Console.WriteLine(origXml); var xmlDoc = System.Xml.Linq.XDocument.Parse(origXml); var modifiedXml = xmlDoc.ToString(System.Xml.Linq.SaveOptions.DisableFormatting); Console.WriteLine(modifiedXml); the output I get from this is: <Root><Item>Here is "Some text&quot;</Item></Root> <Root><Item>Here is "Some text"</Item></Root> I want the output to be: <Root><Item>Here is "Some text&quot;</Item></Root> <Root><Item>Here is "Some text&quot;</Item></Root>

Is there any easy way to create at least a template XML file using XML Schema? My main interest is bounded by C++, but discussions of other programming languages are also welcome.By the way I also use QT framework.

  • validating an XML schema with empty attributes

    - by AdRock
I am having trouble validating my xml schema. I get these errors on the schema 113: 18 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_user' is invalid. 164: 17 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_festival' is invalid. Element 'sequence' is invalid, misplaced, or occurs too often. and becuase of those 2 errors, i am getting loads of the same error. This is becuase the attribute id of the festival tag may be empty becuase there is not data for that festival cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '' is not a valid value for 'integer'. cvc-attribute.3: The value '' of attribute 'id' on element 'festival' is not valid with respect to its type, 'integer'. The lines in the schema causing the problems are <xs:element name="user"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="id" type="xs:integer"/> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="personal"/> <xs:element ref="account"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:element name="festival"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="id" type="xs:integer" user="optional"/> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="event"/> <xs:element ref="contact"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> This is a snippet from my XML file. • Deserialize an XML file - an error in xml document (1,2)

    - by Lindsay Fisher
    I'm trying to deserialize an XML file which I receive from a vendor with XmlSerializer, however im getting this exception: There is an error in XML document (1, 2).InnerException Message "<delayedquotes xmlns=''> was not expected.. I've searched the stackoverflow forum, google and implemented the advice, however I'm still getting the same error. Please find the enclosed some content of the xml file: <delayedquotes id="TestData"> <headings> <title/> <bid>bid</bid> <offer>offer</offer> <trade>trade</trade> <close>close</close> <b_time>b_time</b_time> <o_time>o_time</o_time> <time>time</time> <hi.lo>hi.lo</hi.lo> <perc>perc</perc> <spot>spot</spot> </headings> <instrument id="Test1"> <title id="Test1">Test1</title> <bid>0</bid> <offer>0</offer> <trade>0</trade> <close>0</close> <b_time>11:59:00</b_time> <o_time>11:59:00</o_time> <time>11:59:00</time> <perc>0%</perc> <spot>0</spot> </instrument> </delayedquotes> and the code [Serializable, XmlRoot("delayedquotes"), XmlType("delayedquotes")] public class delayedquotes { [XmlElement("instrument")] public string instrument { get; set; } [XmlElement("title")] public string title { get; set; } [XmlElement("bid")] public double bid { get; set; } [XmlElement("spot")] public double spot { get; set; } [XmlElement("close")] public double close { get; set; } [XmlElement("b_time")] public DateTime b_time { get; set; } [XmlElement("o_time")] public DateTime o_time { get; set; } [XmlElement("time")] public DateTime time { get; set; } [XmlElement("hi")] public string hi { get; set; } [XmlElement("lo")] public string lo { get; set; } [XmlElement("offer")] public double offer { get; set; } [XmlElement("trade")] public double trade { get; set; } public delayedquotes() { } }

  • XML: How to reprepresent objects with multiple occurences?

    - by savras
hi, i need to save objects that can occur multiple times. each object is marked with unique identifier. when it is serialized first time all its properties are written. after that only references are used. <actionHistory> <add> <figure id="1" xsi:type="point"> <position x="1" y="2" /> </figure> </add> <change> <target ref="1" /> <property>x</property> <value>3</value> </change> </actionHistory> element 'target' only references to point saved before, but it can contain definition of new figure as well. there is also figure class hierarchy involved. is there any way to express it using xml-schema? any suggestions how to improve code above will be also appreciated.

  • XML parsing design using xmlpp and C++

    - by shagv
I would like to use an xml format similar to the following: <CONFIG> <PROFILE NAME="foobar"> <PARAM ID="0" NAME="Foo" CLASS="BaseParam"/> <PARAM ID="2" NAME="Bar" CLASS="StrIntParam"> <VALUE TYPE="STRING">some String</VALUE> <VALUE TYPE="INT">1234</VALUE> </PARAM> </PROFILE> </CONFIG> CONFIG contains a list of PROFILEs which contain a list of PARAMs which themselves can be any structure (to be defined in the future). The idea was to define classes that parsed each PARAM type and to keep track of which class to use in the PARAM's CLASS attribute. In code I have a config class that manages the list of profiles and a profile class that manages the list of params. I would like the profile class to handle additional param types (that inherit BaseParam) without modification to the profile class (or at the very least with minimal modification). First of all, is this design viable? If so, what are some ways I could use different param classes and have their creation at run-time be automatic (the profile class sees the CLASS attribute and knows which type to create)?

  • EJB Lifecycle and Relation to WARs

    - by Adam Tannon
I've been reading up on EJBs (3.x) and believe I understand the basics. This question is a "call for confirmation" that I have interpreted the Java EE docs correctly and that I understand these fundamental concepts: An EJB is to an App Container as a Web App (WAR) is to a Web Container Just like you deploy a WAR to a Web Container, and that container manages your WAR's life cycle, you deploy an EJB to an App Container, and the container manages your EJB's life cycle When the App Container fires up and deploys an EJB, it is given a unique "identifier" and URL that can be used by JNDI to look up the EJB from another tier (like the web tier) So, when your web app wants to invoke one of your EJB's methods, it looks the EJB up using some kind of service locator (JNDI) and invoke the method that way Am I on-track or way off-base here? Please correct me & clarify for me if any of these are incorrect. Thanks in advance!

  • Injection of an EJB into a web java class under JBoss 7.1.1

    - by Dobbo
I am trying to build a website using JBoss 7.1.1 and RESTeasy. I have managed to constructed and deploy and EAR with a both a WAR and an EJB-JAR contained within: voyager-app.ear META-INF/MANIFEST.MF META-INF/application.xml META-INF/jboss-app.xml lib/voyager-lib.jar voyager-adm.war voyager-ejb.jar voyager-web.war So far things are very simple. voyager-adm.war & voyager-lib.jar are empty (just the manifest file) but I know that I'm going to have code for them shortly. There is just one Stateful EJB - HarbourMasterBean (with just a local interface) and a few Database Entity Beans in the EJB jar file: voyager-ejb.jar META-INF/MANIFEST.MF META-INF/persistence.xml com/nutrastat/voyager/db/HarbourMasterBean.class com/nutrastat/voyager/db/HarbourMasterLocal.class com/nutrastat/voyager/db/PortEntity.class com/nutrastat/voyager/db/ShipEntity.class As far as I can tell the EJBs deploy correctly because the database units are created and the log shows that the publication of some HarbourMaster references: java:global/voyager-app/voyager-ejb/harbour-master!com.nutrastat.voyager.db.HarbourMasterLocal java:app/voyager-ejb/harbour-master!com.nutrastat.voyager.db.HarbourMasterLocal java:module/harbour-master!com.nutrastat.voyager.db.HarbourMasterLocal java:global/voyager-app/voyager-ejb/harbour-master java:app/voyager-ejb/harbour-master java:module/harbour-master The problem lies in getting the HarbourMaster EJB injected into my web bean. The reference to it is alway NULL no matter what I try. voyager-web.war META-INF/MANIFEST.MF WEB-INF/web.xml WEB-INF/classes/com/nutrastat/voyager/web/ WEB-INF/classes/com/nutrastat/voyager/web/Ships.class WEB-INF/classes/com/nutrastat/voyager/web/VoyagerApplication.class Ships.java: @Path("fleet") public class Ships { protected transient final Logger log; @EJB private HarbourMasterLocal harbourMaster; public Ships() { log = LoggerFactory.getLogger(getClass()); } @GET @Path("ships") @Produces({"text/plain"}) public String listShips() { if (log.isDebugEnabled()) log.debug("Harbour master value: " + harbourMaster); return "Harbour Master: " + harbourMaster; } } &lt;web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_0.xsd" version="3.0" &gt; <display-name>Voyager Web Application</display-name> <listener> <listener-class> org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.server.servlet.ResteasyBootstrap </listener-class> </listener> <servlet> <servlet-name>Resteasy</servlet-name> <servlet-class> org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.server.servlet.HttpServletDispatcher </servlet-class> <init-param> <param-name> javax.ws.rs.Application </param-name> <param-value> com.nutrastat.voyager.web.VoyagerApplication </param-value> </init-param> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Resteasy</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> &lt;/web-app&gt; I have been searching the web for an answer and read a number of places, both on StackOverflow and elsewhere that suggests is can be done, and that the problems lies with configuration. But they post only snippets and I'm never sure if I'm doing things correctly. Many thanks for any help you can provide. Dobbo

  • Why does the Maven goal "package" include the resources in the jar, but the goal "jar:jar" doesnt?

    - by Bernhard V
Hi, when I package my project with the Maven goal "package", the resources are included as well. They are originally located in the directory "src/main/resources". Because I want to create an executable jar and add the classpath to the manifest, I'm using maven-jar-plugin. I've configured it as the following likes: <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jar-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.2</version> <configuration> <archive> <manifest> <addClasspath>true</addClasspath> <mainClass>at.sozvers.stp.zpv.ekvkumsetzer.Main</mainClass> </manifest> </archive> </configuration> </plugin> Why won't the jar file created with "jar:jar" include my resources as well. As far as I'm concerned it should use the same directories as the "package" goal (which are in my case inherited from the Maven Super POM).

  • Describe repeating XML nodes in W3C XML Schema?

    - by NotMyName
    I have an XML document like: <Root> <Bravo /> <Alpha /> <Charlie /> <Charlie /> <Delta /> <Foxtrot /> <Charlie /> </Root> The order of the nodes does not matter. Each node may appear zero or one times, except for Charlie. Charlie may appear zero, one, or arbitrarily many times. The straightforward way to express this in XSD is: <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xsd:element name="Root"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:all> <xsd:element name="Alpha" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="Bravo" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="Charlie" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xsd:element name="Delta" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="Echo" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="Foxtrot" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> </xsd:all> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> </xsd:schema> But this does not work, because xsd:all does not allow for maxOccurs greater than 1. Since I cannot use xsd:all, what should I use?

  • Problem running a simple EJB application

    - by Spi1988
I am currently running a simple EJB application using a stateless Session Bean. I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE. I don't know whether it is relevent but I am running Windows7 64-bit version. The Session Bean I implemented has just one method sayHello(); which just prints hello on the screen. When I try to run the application I'm getting the following error: pre-init: init-private: init-userdir: init-user: init-project: do-init: post-init: init-check: init: deps-jar: deps-j2ee-archive: MyEnterprise-app-client.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-ejb.compile: MyEnterprise-ejb.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-ejb.dist-ear: MyEnterprise-app-client.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-app-client.compile: MyEnterprise-app-client.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-app-client.dist-ear: MyEnterprise-ejb.init: MyEnterprise-ejb.deps-jar: MyEnterprise-ejb.compile: MyEnterprise-ejb.library-inclusion-in-manifest: MyEnterprise-ejb.dist-ear: pre-pre-compile: pre-compile: do-compile: post-compile: compile: pre-dist: post-dist: dist-directory-deploy: pre-run-deploy: Starting Personal GlassFish v3 Domain Personal GlassFish v3 Domain is running. • Windows' "open with" with java and a jar file

    - by Boldewyn
I use the rest-client to test REST APIs. It is basically just a .jar file, that is called via java -jar rest-client.jar. The rest-client uses two file extensions, in my case .rcq, to store data in files. I want to let the explorer open .rcq files with java -jar rest-client.jar <infile>, however, if I configure it (via GUI) to use the JAR alone, it obviously doesn't work. I'd be fine with touching HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for this, as well, but don't know the exact syntax. By the way: It's WinXP.

  • Nightmare: Upgrading Tomcat 5.5 to 6.0

    - by pavanlimo
I'm trying to upgrade a perfectly running embedded Tomcat 5.5 to Tomcat 6.0. I understand that all I need to do is replace Tomcat 5.5 jars with 6.0. That's what I did. So I replaced the following jars: catalina-5.0.28.jar catalina-5.5.9.jar catalina-optional-5.5.9.jar commons-el.jar commons-modeler-1.1.0.jar jasper-compiler-jdt.jar jasper-compiler.jar jasper-runtime.jar jmx-5.0.28.jar jsp-api-2.0.jar naming-factory.jar naming-resources.jar servlet-api-2.4.jar servlets-default.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-http.jar tomcat-util.jar with: annotations-api.jar catalina.jar jasper.jar tomcat-dbcp.jar catalina-ant.jar el-api.jar jsp-api.jar tomcat-i18n-es.jar catalina-ha.jar jasper-el.jar servlet-api.jar tomcat-i18n-fr.jar catalina-tribes.jar jasper-jdt.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-i18n-ja.jar tomcat-juli.jar As soon as I start the server, I get the following message in the logs at INFO level: INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.29 Dec 31, 2010 6:04:18 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Based on the this explanation, I need to remove a jar file which has a conflicting Servlet.class. I swear to God, there is no other conflicting jar file, I grepped system wide for Servlet.class, it matched only servlet-api.jar. I also downloaded javaee.jar and replaced it by servlet-api.jar, to same avail. Having tried lot of these stuff, I did not have much to look upto, so set the tomcat logging level to ALL. In the log I could see that it is trying to check for Servlet.class in each and every jar it is loading until it finds servlet-api.jar and throws "jar not loaded" message as soon as it finds servlet-api.jar. See below: FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories FINE: Deploy JAR /WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar to /usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader addJar FINE: addJar(/WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories Please note however, that Tomcat starts successfully! And as soon as I hit the URL on the browser, I get blank page(this may be in my case only, I guess 'cuz of my web.xml, sorta different from most. Other people on the internet have got Error 404 instead.) with following log statements(at finest level) Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter parseSessionCookiesId FINE: Requested cookie session id is 0FBA716E3F9B0147C3AF7ABAE3B1C27B Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Security checking request GET /login.jsp Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: No applicable constraint located Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Not subject to any constraint Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapper allocate FINEST: Returning non-STM instance I'm not sure if the above log message is important, but I'm for all-out disclosure here. One interesting thing though, I manually created a dummy jsp file containing only "helloooo" just outside WEB-INF folder(no security constraints for this file). This file was accessible and could be displayed. But, all my jsp's and classes are inside WEB-INF(ofcourse). Sick and tired of this issue, please help me solve it. I've already spent 20-24 hours on this unsuccessfully. Any pointers directions hints leads?
