  • Scanner's Read Line returning NoSuchElementException

    - by Brian
This is my first time using StackOverflow. I am trying to read a text file which consists of a single number one the first line. try { Scanner s = new Scanner(new File("HighScores.txt")); int temp =Integer.parseInt(s.nextLine()); s.close(); return temp; } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } However, I get an error: java.util.NoSuchElementException: No line found at java.util.Scanner.nextLine(Unknown Source) at GameStart.getHighScore(GameStart.java:334) at GameStart.init(GameStart.java:82) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) I know that HighScores.txt is not empty, so why is this problem occuring? I tried using BufferedReader, and BufferReader.readLine() return null.

  • Rejigging a floating point equation ...

    - by Jamie
I'd like to know if there is a way to improve the accuracy of calculating a slope. (This came up a few months back here). It seems by changing: float get_slope(float dXa, float dXb, float dYa, float dYb) { return (dXa - dXb)/(dYa - dYb); } to float get_slope(float dXa, float dXb, float dYa, float dYb) { return dXa/(dYa - dYb) - dXb/(dYa - dYb); } might be an improvement. Suggestions? Edit: It's precision I'm after, not efficiency.

  • Get data from aspx.cs page to aspx page.

    - by Brad8118
So I am using a jquery plug in that allows me to change the order of things in a list by dragging and dropping them. So my goal is to be able to grab a list of my objects (AlertInfo) and using it in a javascript function. I was able to use a json webservice call in a test project to pass the data to the page. But we don't have a webservice page now so I tried to grab it from a aspx.cs page and it hasn't worked. ///Aspx page: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "~/Alerts/GetAlerts", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function (msg) { var data = eval("(" + msg.d + ")"); jQuery.each(data, function (rec) { AlertList[AlertList.length] = new objAlert(this.id, this.title, this.details, JSONDateSerializationFix(this.startdate), JSONDateSerializationFix(this.enddate)); UpdateDisplayList(); }) }, error: function (msg) { alert("BRAD" + msg); } The issue is that the Alerts page in "URL /Alerts/GetAlerts" is Alerts.aspx.cs. I can't figure out if I can use this ajax command to call a method in a aspx.cs page. //Code behind page aspx.cs [WebMethod] //[ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public string GetAlerts() { List list = AlertInfo.GetTestAlerts(); return new JavaScriptSerializer().Serialize(list); } public List GetAlertsList() { List list = AlertInfo.GetTestAlerts(); return list; ; } So I was hoping that I could load data into an asp control (dataList) and then grab the data //code behind page protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { dataListAlertList.DataSource = GetAlertsList(); dataListAlertList.DataBind(); } public static List<AlertInfo> GetTestAlerts() { List<AlertInfo> list = new List<AlertInfo>(); list.Add(new AlertInfo("0", "Alert 1 Title", "Alert 1 Detail", "10/10/2010", "10/10/2011")); list.Add(new AlertInfo("1", "Alert 2 Title", "Alert 2 Detail", "10/10/2010", "10/10/2011")); return list; } //.aspx page $(document).ready(function () { var a1 = $("#dataListAlertList").val(); // do fun stuff now. } But I keep getting undefined....

  • "set -e" in shell and command substitution

    - by ivant
In shell scripts set -e is often used to make them more robust by stopping the script when some of the commands executed from the script exits with non-zero exit code. It's usually easy to specify that you don't care about some of the commands succeeding by adding || true at the end. The problem appears when you actually care about the return value, but don't want the script to stop on non-zero return code, for example: output=$(possibly-failing-command) if [ 0 == $? -a -n "$output" ]; then ... else ... fi Here we want to both check the exit code (thus we can't use || true inside of command substitution expression) and get the output. However, if the command in command substitution fails, the whole script stops due to set -e. Is there a clean way to prevent the script from stopping here without unsetting -e and setting it back afterwards?

  • Adding a Categorylist to all pages with MVC4

    - by Sidriel
I'm new with MVC4 and just MVC. I have a homecontroller and a categorycontroller. The categorycontroller sends data from the model to the categoryIndex view. That's works fine. But now I want to add the categorylist on all the available controllers. I already fixed this to add in all classes return view(db.categorys.ToList()); and add categoryIndex to the shared folder. In _layout.cshtml I'm adding a@RenderPage("~/")` and this works. But when I have to pass more than only the (db.categorys.ToList()) in the return it goes wrong. How can I fixed this problem. How do I add the categorylist too every controller and page properly?

  • jQuery reports incorrect element height in Firefox iframe

    - by Augustus
    Here a short test to demonstrate my problem. I have a page that loads an iframe: <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.js"></script> </head> <body> <iframe id="iframe" src="box.html" style="width: 100px; height: 100px"></iframe> <script> $('#iframe').bind('load', function () { var div = $(this).contents().find('div'); alert(div.height()); alert(div.innerHeight()); alert(div.outerHeight()); alert(div.outerHeight(true)); }); </script> </body> </html> The iframe (box.html) contains a single styled div: <html> <head> <title></title> <style> div { height: 50px; width: 50px; margin: 5px; padding: 5px; border: 2px solid #00f; background-color: #f00; } </style> </head> <body> <div></div> </body> </html> The four alerts should return 50, 60, 64 and 74, respectively. This works as expected in Safari and Chrome. In FF 3.5.1, they all return 64. This is wrong. Does anyone know how I can force FF/jQuery to return the correct values?

  • Anonymous functions in C#

The following syntax is valid VB.NET code Dim myCollection As New List(Of Stock) myCollection.Add(New Stock(Guid.NewGuid, "Item1")) myCollection.Add(New Stock(Guid.NewGuid, "Item2")) Dim res As List(Of Stock) = myCollection.FindAll(Function(stock As Stock) As Boolean If stock.Description = "Item2" Then Return True End If Return False End Function) How can I accomplish the same thing in C#? I have tried... myCollection.FindAll(bool delegate(Stock stock) { if (blah blah) { } }); But it appears I have somehow structured it incorrectly as I get the following error. "Error 1 Invalid expression term 'bool'"

  • Enumerable.Range in and Expression and Entity Framework

    - by eka808
I'm currently developping an expression method (used in linq to entity queries) who has to give me a daycount for a given period (start date and end date) decrementing this daycount if specials days are in the period. My idea was the following : Generate an enumerable with all the dates (and with Enumerable.Range) Make a .Where on this enumerable to remove the specials dates Like a MyEnumerable.Where(a = a != "20120101") After that, return a MyEnumerable.Count() I come with this code : return (p) => Enumerable .Range(1, 4) .Where(a => a != 20120101) .AsQueryable() .Count() I tried to cast as a list, as a queryable, both (like the example) and no way ! it doesn't work ! I always get this error : LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[System.Int32] Range(Int32, Int32)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. Have you got an idea about that ? Using an enumerable is of course not mandatory, any working solutions is good ^^ Thank's by advance !

  • C Class Instance from Void Pointer using Ctypes

    - by g.d.d.c
I've got a C DLL that exposes a handful of methods that return void pointers to a Class like so: void *GetLicense() { static AppLicenseImpl ipds_; return (void *) &ipds_; } In C++, after loading the DLL, I'd do this to work with it: typedef void *(* FPGetLicense)(); GetLicense_ = (FPGetLicense)GetAddress("GetLicense"); license_ = (AppLicense *) GetLicense_(); license_->GetApplicationStatus(); // Load data so that other calls don't fail I can't figure out how to parallel that in Python. This gets me the pointer: d = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary('license.dll') d.GetLicense.restype = ctypes.c_void_p p = d.GetLicense() # returns ptr loc, something like 8791433660848L But I obviously can't call p.GetApplicationStatus() in Python. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I'd instantiate that Class the rest of the way in Python so that I can call GetApplicationStatus()?

  • Passing an array of an array of char to a function

    - by L.A. Rabida
In my program, I may need to load a large file, but not always. So I have defined: char** largefilecontents; string fileName="large.txt"; When I need to load the file, the program calles this function: bool isitok=LoadLargeFile(fileName, largefilecontents); And the function is: bool LoadLargeFile(string &filename, char ** &lines) { if (lines) delete [] lines; ifstream largeFile; #ifdef LINUX largeFile.open(filename.c_str()); #endif #ifdef WINDOWS largeFile.open(filename.c_str(),ios::binary); #endif if (!largeFile.is_open()) return false; lines=new char *[10000]; if (!lines) return false; largeFile.clear(); largeFile.seekg(ios::beg); for (int i=0; i>-1; i++) { string line=""; getline(largeFile, line); if (largeFile.tellg()==-1) break; //when end of file is reached, tellg returns -1 lines[i]=new char[line.length()]; lines[i]=const_cast<char*>(line.c_str()); cout << lines[i] << endl; //debug output } return true; } When I view the debug output of this function, "cout << lines[i] << endl;", it is fine. But when I then check this in the main program like this, it is all messed up: for (i=0; i<10000; i++) cout << largefilecontents[i] << endl; So within the function LoadLargeFile(), the results are fine, but without LoadLargeFile(), the results are all messed up. My guess is that the char ** &lines part of the function isn't right, but I do not know what this should be. Could someone help me? Thank you in advance!

  • How can i pass a single additional argument to array_map callback in PHP?

    - by Gremo
    How can i pass a single additional argument to array_map callback? In my example i'd like to pass $smsPattern (as a second argument, after current element in $featureNames) to the function array_map with $getLimit closure: $features = $usage->getSubscription()->getUser()->getRoles(); // SMS regular expression in the form of ROLE_SEND_SMS_X $smsPattern = '/^ROLE_SEND_SMS_(?P<l>\d+)$/i'; // Function to get roles names and X from a role name $getNames = function($r) { return trim($r->getRole()); }; $getLimit = function($name, $pattern) { if(preg_match($pattern, $name, $m)) return $m['l']; }; // Get roles names and their limits ignoring null values with array_filter $featuresNames = array_map($getNames, $features); $smsLimits = array_filter(array_map($getLimit, $featureNames, $smsPattern)); With this code i'm getting a weird warning: Warning: array_map() [function.array-map]: Argument #3 should be an array. Of course di reason is for reusing $getLimit closure with another regular expression like $smsPattern. Thanks.

I am a bit confused - how to debug this case ?

  • Problem separating C++ code in header, inline functions and code.

    - by YuppieNetworking
Hello all, I have the simplest code that I want to separate in three files: Header file: class and struct declarations. No implementations at all. Inline functions file: implementation of inline methods in header. Code file: normal C++ code for more complicated implementations. When I was about to implement an operator[] method, I couldn't manage to compile it. Here is a minimal example that shows the same problem: Header (myclass.h): #ifndef _MYCLASS_H_ #define _MYCLASS_H_ class MyClass { public: MyClass(const int n); virtual ~MyClass(); double& operator[](const int i); double operator[](const int i) const; void someBigMethod(); private: double* arr; }; #endif /* _MYCLASS_H_ */ Inline functions (myclass-inl.h): #include "myclass.h" inline double& MyClass::operator[](const int i) { return arr[i]; } inline double MyClass::operator[](const int i) const { return arr[i]; } Code (myclass.cpp): #include "myclass.h" #include "myclass-inl.h" #include <iostream> inline MyClass::MyClass(const int n) { arr = new double[n]; } inline MyClass::~MyClass() { delete[] arr; } void MyClass::someBigMethod() { std::cout << "Hello big method that is not inlined" << std::endl; } And finally, a main to test it all: #include "myclass.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { MyClass m(123); double x = m[1]; m[1] = 1234; cout << "m[1]=" << m[1] << endl; x = x + 1; return 0; } void nothing() { cout << "hello world" << endl; } When I compile it, it says: main.cpp:(.text+0x1b): undefined reference to 'MyClass::MyClass(int)' main.cpp:(.text+0x2f): undefined reference to 'MyClass::operator[](int)' main.cpp:(.text+0x49): undefined reference to 'MyClass::operator[](int)' main.cpp:(.text+0x65): undefined reference to 'MyClass::operator[](int)' However, when I move the main method to the MyClass.cpp file, it works. Could you guys help me spot the problem? Thank you.

  • One Controller is Sometimes Bound Twice with Ninject

    - by Dusda
I have the following NinjectModule, where we bind our repositories and business objects: /// <summary> /// Used by Ninject to bind interface contracts to concrete types. /// </summary> public class ServiceModule : NinjectModule { /// <summary> /// Loads this instance. /// </summary> public override void Load() { //bindings here. //Bind<IMyInterface>().To<MyImplementation>(); Bind<IUserRepository>().To<SqlUserRepository>(); Bind<IHomeRepository>().To<SqlHomeRepository>(); Bind<IPhotoRepository>().To<SqlPhotoRepository>(); //and so on //business objects Bind<IUser>().To<Data.User>(); Bind<IHome>().To<Data.Home>(); Bind<IPhoto>().To<Data.Photo>(); //and so on } } And here are the relevant overrides from our Global.asax, where we inherit from NinjectHttpApplication in order to integrate it with Asp.Net Mvc (The module lies in a separate dll called Thing.Web.Configuration): protected override void OnApplicationStarted() { base.OnApplicationStarted(); //routes and areas AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); //Initializes a singleton that must reference this HttpApplication class, //in order to provide the Ninject Kernel to the rest of Thing.Web. This //is necessary because there are a few instances (currently Membership) //that require manual dependency injection. NinjectKernel.Instance = new NinjectKernel(this); //view model factory. NinjectKernel.Instance.Kernel.Bind<IModelFactory>().To<MasterModelFactory>(); } protected override NinjectControllerFactory CreateControllerFactory() { return base.CreateControllerFactory(); } protected override Ninject.IKernel CreateKernel() { var kernel = new StandardKernel(); kernel.Load("Thing.Web.Configuration.dll"); return kernel; } Now, everything works great, with one exception: For some reason, sometimes Ninject will bind the PhotoController twice. This leads to an ActivationException, because Ninject can't discern which PhotoController I want. This causes all requests for thumbnails and other user images on the site to fail. Here is the PhotoController in it's entirety: public class PhotoController : Controller { public PhotoController() { } public ActionResult Index(string id) { var dir = Server.MapPath("~/" + ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["UserPhotos"]); var path = Path.Combine(dir, id); return base.File(path, "image/jpeg"); } } Every controller works in exactly the same way, but for some reason the PhotoController gets double-bound. Even then, it only happens occasionally (either when re-building the solution, or on staging/production when the app pool kicks in). Once this happens, it continues to happen until I redeploy without changing anything. So...what's up with that?

  • Calling a function that has 'Activity' as an argument.

    - by Andrew
I have stripped down my functions for simplicity: public static int countLines(String fileName, Activity activity) throws IOException { BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(activity.getAssets().open(fileName))); return 3; } I am calling it from here: private CharSequence RandomRead() throws IOException { int numberLines = countLines("data.txt", ??????); return "Success" } In the call to countLines("data.txt", ??????), what do I put as the argument for the Activity? I've Googled all night and I can find no examples of an actual call to a function where Activity is an argument. (Lots of examples actually using 'activity', but no calls to the example functions). Thanks!

  • Breadth first search all paths

    - by Amndeep7
First of all, thank you for looking at this question. For a school assignment we're supposed to create a BFS algorithm and use it to do various things. One of these things is that we're supposed to find all of the paths between the root and the goal nodes of a graph. I have no idea how to do this as I can't find a way to keep track of all of the alternate routes without also including copies/cycles. Here is my BFS code: def makePath(predecessors, last): return makePath(predecessors, predecessors[last]) + [last] if last else [] def BFS1b(node, goal): Q = [node] predecessor = {node:None} while Q: current = Q.pop(0) if current[0] == goal: return makePath(predecessor, goal) for subnode in graph[current[0]][2:]: if subnode[0] not in predecessor: predecessor[subnode[0]] = current[0] Q.append(subnode[0]) A conceptual push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. tl;dr How do I use BFS to find all of the paths between two nodes?

  • Custom Parser for JQuery Tablesorter

    - by Tim
I'm using the jQuery Tablesorter and have an issue with the order in which parsers are applied against table columns. I'm adding a custom parser to handle currency of the form $-3.33. $.tablesorter.addParser({ id: "fancyCurrency", is: function(s) { return /^\$[\-]?[0-9,\.]*$/.test(s); }, format: function(s) { s = s.replace(/[$,]/g,''); return $.tablesorter.formatFloat( s ); }, type: "numeric" }); The problem seems to be that the built-in currency parser takes precedence over my custom parser. I could put the parser in the tablesorter code itself (before the currency parser) and it works properly, but this isn't very maintainable. I can't specify the sorter manually using something like: headers: { 3: { sorter: "fancyNumber" }, 11: { sorter: "fancyCurrency" } } since the table columns are generated dynamically from user inputs. I guess one option would be to specify the sorter to use as a css class and use some JQuery to explicitly specify a sorter like this question suggests, but I'd prefer to stick with dynamic detection if possible.

  • Declaring a prototype of type "struct" - C

    - by Jamie Keeling
I've been racking my brains on this for a while, I'm simply trying to create a method that returns a struct as I wish to return two int's. My prototype for the method is as follows: typedef struct RollDice(); Also the method itself: typedef struct RollDice() { diceData diceRoll; diceRoll.dice1 = 0; diceRoll.dice2 = 0; return diceRoll; } The compiler shows the error: "Syntax error: ')'" for both the prototype and actual method. The struct itself: typedef struct { int dice1; int dice2; }diceData; Is it obvious where I'm going wrong? I've tried everything I can think of. Thanks
