• Do you know any code sharing sites?

  I am always looking to organize and make my resource bookmarks better and easiar to access when I need them. 1 thing I really like is code sharing sites, they let you enter in code and then give you a special link to give a friend or a user on this site even to show then code, This is a very useful tool I believe. So below is my list of code sharing sites, there is 4 on the list and they all have unique features. Some have syntax highlighting for multiple languages, some allow you to save your code as private and only share with the people you give the link to, and some even run the run and output any possible errors. I need 3 actions. 1) When user click in textarea i want display DIV what will contain preview, i want animate opening. 2) When user typing, i want dynamical load parsed by PHP code to DIV. (i'm still thinking what will be best option... refresh every 2 seconds, or maybe we can detect and refresh after 1 second of inactivity [stop typing]) 3) When user click outside textarea i want close preview div with animation. For example the PHP parser will have patch /api/parser.php and variable by POST called $_POST['message']. Any idea my digital friends ?

• Changing system colors for a single application (Windows, .NET)

  I know I should generally avoid messing up with such system settings, but my application do already use nonstandard colors and I have no influence on that. I would like to be able to add standard .NET controls in some places, but their colors do not match. I would like to have a hack that would replace system colors for this one application. One more important thing to note is that it is a .NET application. My (incomplete) ideas so far were: To create a proxy User32.dll library with replaced GetSysColor, but it would be very tedious (731 functions to be redirected, 1 to be replaced) and I do not know how to force my application to use that particular copy. To intercept somehow invocations to GetSysColors (unfortunatelly it is somewhere in the CLR I think). To modify somehow .NET class SystemColors (in memory? is it possible?). Do you have any idea, what is the best (and complete) way to achieve this?

• FFMPEG based Theora Video Decoder performance??

  Hi, I am in process of porting and optimization of the theora video decoder in the ffmpeg-0.5 package to ARM-Cortex-A8 -Neon processor @ 667 MHz. I am looking for some target estimate for frames per second the decoder library alone should achieve after full optimization (C level and Neon assembly / Intrinsics) for 720x480 Progressive content for a 2Mbps stream. I have a Real Video 9 decoder on cortex-A8 which gives around 40 fps for the same stream above.(720x480, 2Mbps) How can i extrapolate this data based on relative complexities of RV9 and Theora and get a fps estimate for theora decoder Cortex-A8? I am aware the performance depends upon the cache configuration of the h/w, etc...,but any Any pointers will help. Thanks, -AD

  I have a custom tag, packaged into a library jar that is included in my web apps war file. • Windows code pages, what are they?

  I'm trying to gain a basic understanding of what is meant by a Windows code page. I kind of get the feeling it's a translation between a given 8 bit value and some 'abstraction' for a given character graphic. I made the following experiment. I created a "" character literal with two versions of the letter u with an umlaut. One created using the ALT 129 (uses code page 437) value and one using the ALT 0252 (uses code page 1252) value. When I examined the literal both characters had the value 252. Is 252 the universal 8 bit abstraction for u with an umlaut? Is it the Unicode value? Aside from keyboard input are there any library routines or system calls that use code pages? For example is there a function to translate a string using a given code table (as above for the ALT 129 value)?

Often apps with ZF looks like that: root public index.php .htaccess application library I have sth. like that: root application index.php .htaccess All my code is in the application folder. But there are also some .ini and .xml files with sensitive information e.g. login names and passwords and so on... If I add a .htaccess in the application folder with deny from all is the information secure inside the folder?

I imported the .jar files via properties--java build path: openid4java-0.9.5.jar lib/*.jar In addition I copied the .jar files into the war/WEB-INF/lib directory. • XML Validation in ASP.NET MVC during load

  I'm writing an ASP.NET MVC 2 application where one of the backing stores I plan to support is XML. I have a POCO that represents the settings for the site, along with an XML file to contain these settings. My question is what is the best way to validate this data as it is read from disk in to the POCO? I know I can use an XSD, or maybe use the Data Annotations library to mark up the POCO, and use reflection to validate the data, but is there another way, perhaps in .NET 3.5 or MVC to do this? I've spent some time Googling this issue, and want to be sure I'm doing it in the best manner. Thanks in advance!

• Static lib that links another static lib and qmake? Odd linking error

  I have two qt .pro files, both using the lib TEMPLATE and staticlib CONFIG. The first library (lets call it 'core') is a dependency for the second lib (I'll call it 'foo'). In fact, there's a class in foo that extends a class in core, I will call this class Bar. When I instantiate the class (which is defined and implemented in foo, but extends a class (Bar) from core) in another project (not a lib) I get the following linking error: /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: Bar::Bar() Basically, the linker cannot find the class in the core lib that has been derived in the foo lib, but ONLY when I instantiate the class in a third project that is using both libs. Is this behaviour expected? Regards, Dan O Update: I fixed it by directly invoking the Bars constructor in the third project before using derived class... does anyone know why I need to do this?

• Python Bitstream implementations

  I am writing a huffman implementation in Python as a learning exercise. I have got to the point of writing out my variable length huffman codes to a buffer (or file). Only to find there does not seem to be a bitstream class implemented by Python! I have had a look at the array and struct modules but they do not seem to do what I need without extra work. A bit of goggling turned up this bitstream implementation, which is more like what I am wanting. Is there really no comparable bitstream class in the Python standard library?

• Are there any good Java API for facebook?

  I've played around a bit with twitter4j and found it absolutely wonderful. Now I've been looking into the equivalent for facebook but so far haven't had much luck finding a decent project. I looked into facebook-java-api but it appears that they break their API from release to release. I consider this unacceptable. I'm currently playing around a bit with RestFB and the API seems decent so far but I've been having some connection problems. I'm just looking for a simple library that lets me post status updates, send direct messages and get a list of friends through minimal coding effort. Has anyone had any success using a java API for facebook and if so, what are you using? Thanks.

• Drag and drop: jQuery UI or Scriptaculous?

  Dear all, I am in the middle of the road whether to use jQuery UI or Scriptaculous for drag and drop. I am using Ruby on Rails, and Scriptaculous support in Ruby on Rails is superb with the existence of scriptaculous_helper.rb. But I have already use jQuery for the ajax and DOM manipulation. I do not mind to use scriptaculous since we can use jQuery.noConflict() in the code. I also kind of get the impression that scriptaculous drag and drop is better than jQuery UI drag and drop based on the online demos. So back to the original question, which one would you recommend as a drag and drop library and which one do you think is better than the other? Scriptaculous or jQuery UI?

• Mono ASP.NET COM Reference

  I am sure this is a very dumb question to be asking for such a platform as Mono, but I am really stuck with .NET on one of my only remaining projects on MS platforms and would like to move away from it. The only problem is that the web site is dependent on a COM library that is simply a socket wrapper enforcing a messaging protocol. I could reverse the code (I actually made a 10k line attempt) but there's nothing better than the original if it works. Is there any way to reference a tlb export on Mono? The Matrix multiplication yield different results with brute force multiplication and using the repeated squaring algorithm. I'm timing the execution time of my code to compare the times taken by brute force multiplication and by repeated squaring. Could someone please find out what's wrong with the recursion and with the matrix initialization? NOTE: While compiling this program, make sure you've imported the NEWMAT library. Thanks in advance!

• How to do a sample rate conversion in Windows (and OSX)

  I am about to write an audio file converter for my side job at the university. As part of this I would need sample rate conversion. However, my professor said that it would be pretty hard to write a sample rate converter that was both of good quality and fast. On my research on the subject, I found some functions in the OSX CoreAudio-framework, that could do a sample rate conversion (AudioConverter.h). After all, an OS has to have some facilities to do that for its own audio stack. Do you know a similar method for C/C++ and Windows, that are either part of the OS or open source? I am pretty sure that this function exists within DirectX Audio (XAudio2?), but I seem to be unable to find a reference to it in the MSDN library.

• Does performance even matter anymore? [closed]

  The performance differences between C/C++ and C# are astounding. An ASP.NET page loads in 1/8 the time that a PHP script does haha.... WPF, aka " The Future ", (you know it will be, all the companies are gonna want cool looking desktop apps, don't kid yourself.) And it has huge performance hits just to start up. We've let Microsoft make us as developers lazy! Why do I hate this, it's such a good thing? Are we at a point in time where the majority of computers can handle this kinda crap? I remember when performance used to matter. Anyways, I'm writing a .NET library and ever since I found out LINQ is slower than traditional delegates which is slower than the normal procedural code... well it's a guilty evil I feel for every LINQ query I write, because they are so beautiful. Am I just too much of a performance stickler? Or just too big of a nerd?

• Classloader problems Tomcat 6 javagent

  I am using Salve Dependency Injection library that instruments the byte code of the web application. I specified -javaagent in Tomcat VM options and pointed it to the Salve agent jar. The agent jar gets loaded, but then it throws a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError unable to find classes that are in other Salve jars which are located in WEB-INF/lib folder of my web app. I can solve this problem by putting those JARs in Tomcat/endorsed folder. However, some of those jars depend on third-party libraries, such as Spring and servlet-api.jar. Therefore, I am forced to put all these dependencies in Tomcat/endorsed as well. Could anybody suggest a better way for handling dependencies of a Tomcat javaagent? Thanks.

  Hi, Sorry for such a simple question, but how do I use the Add-In Manager in VS2010? I want to add this "SmartPaster" addin: http://inedo.com/Downloads/SmartPaster.aspx or http://www.mediafire.com/?mzyjamytnlq What do I do with these 3 files to get them listed in the Add-In Manager dialog? SmartPaster2010.AddIn, SmartPaster2010.dll, SmartPaster2010.xml Edit: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/19dax6cz.aspx says: "To install the add-in on another computer, the .addin file must be placed in a location where Visual Studio checks for add-ins. These locations are listed in the Options dialog box, in the Environment node, on the Add-in/Macros Security page." I went to Tools Options Environment Add-In/Macro Security, checked some paths put the AddIn files in a couple of these directoryies, restart VS2010 but still no luck!

  I will have one streaming-server (W2k8, unknown streaming protocol [rtsp, mss, http]) and half dozen streaming-servers as proxies to save bandwidth. I have read the documentation and installed the modules, but I am unsure how I have to configure the proxy's according to http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee126142(en-us,WS.10).aspx - as a proxy or reverse proxy and how I minimize the bandwidth needs between origin server and proxy's. What is the best way to realize my setup? Any short how-tos? How can I announce all players to use the proxy? Route all rtsp/mms/http-requests through my proxy? Announce the proxy with DHCP-releases?   Basically, I am looking for a java library that will take this: <foo><bar> </bar><baz>yadda</baz></foo> And pretty print it to this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <foo> <bar> </bar> <baz>yadda</baz> </foo> e.g. preserving whitespace AND blank elements The closest I have got was with dom4j like so: OutputFormat format = OutputFormat.createPrettyPrint(); format.setTrimText( false ); However, this does not honor the whitespace unless the element contains other character data. I'm not opposed to writing something on my own, but I would think this has already been done, why reinvent the wheel?
