  • Linker Issues with boost::thread under linux using Eclipse and CMake

    - by OcularProgrammer
    I'm in the process of attempting to port some code across from PC to Ubuntu, and am having some issues due to limited experience developing under linux. We use CMake to generate all our build stuff. Under windows I'm making VS2010 projects, and under Linux I'm making Eclipse projects. I've managed to get my OpenCV stuff ported across successfully, but am having major headaches trying to port my threaded boost apps. Just so we're clear, the steps I have followed so-far on a clean Ubuntu 12 installation. (I've done 2 clean re-installs to try and fix potential library cock-ups, now I'm just giving up and asking): Install Eclipse and Eclipse CDT using my package manager Install CMake and CMake Gui using my package manager Install libboost-all-dev using my package manager So-far that's all I've done. I can create the eclipse project using CMake with no errors, so CMake is successfully finding my boost install. When I try and build through eclipse is when I get issues; The app I'm attempting to build uses boost::asio for some UDP I/O and boost::thread to create worker threads for the asio I/O services. I can successfully compile each module, but when I come to link I get spammed with errors such as: /usr/bin/c++ CMakeFiles/RE05DevelopmentDemo.dir/main.cpp.o CMakeFiles/RE05DevelopmentDemo.dir/RE05FusionListener/RE05FusionListener.cpp.o CMakeFiles/RE05DevelopmentDemo.dir/NewEye/NewEye.cpp.o -o RE05DevelopmentDemo -rdynamic -Wl,-Bstatic -lboost_system-mt -lboost_date_time-mt -lboost_regex-mt -lboost_thread-mt -Wl,-Bdynamic /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.6/../../../../lib/libboost_thread-mt.a(thread.o): In function `void boost::call_once<void (*)()>(boost::once_flag&, void (*)()) [clone .constprop.98]': make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/david/Code/Build/Support/RE05DevDemo' (.text+0xc8): undefined reference to `pthread_key_create' /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.6/../../../../lib/libboost_thread-mt.a(thread.o): In function `boost::this_thread::interruption_enabled()': (.text+0x540): undefined reference to `pthread_getspecific' make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/david/Code/Build/Support/RE05DevDemo' /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.6/../../../../lib/libboost_thread-mt.a(thread.o): In function `boost::this_thread::disable_interruption::disable_interruption()': (.text+0x570): undefined reference to `pthread_getspecific' /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.6/../../../../lib/libboost_thread-mt.a(thread.o): In function `boost::this_thread::disable_interruption::disable_interruption()': (.text+0x59f): undefined reference to `pthread_getspecific' Some Gotchas that I have collected from other StackOverflow posts and have already checked: The boost libs are all present at /usr/lib I am not getting any compile errors for inability to find the boost headers, so they must be getting found. I am trying to link statically, but I believe eclipse should be passing the correct arguments to make that happen since my CMakeLists.txt includes SET(Boost_USE_STATIC_LIBS ON) I'm officially out of ideas here, I have tried doing local builds of boost and a bunch of other stuff with no more success. I even re-installed Ubuntu to ensure I haven't completely fracked the libs directories and links with multiple weird versions or anything else. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

  • Getting IBindingList Property to sort by

    - by Josh
    I've got a class called DatagridBoundList that implements CollectionBase and IBindingList. The implementation of IBindingList.ApplySort looks like this so far: void IBindingList.ApplySort(PropertyDescriptor property, ListSortDirection direction) { throw new NotSupportedException(); } I'm binding the DatagridBoundList to a DataGridView (winforms). When I reflect over the property parameter, I can't seem to find the name of the actual property that the list needs to be sorted by. What's the trick to finding out the name of the property to sort by?

  • Characters count only start counting on the 2nd character??

    - by Hwang
    I have a function that calculates how many characters remaining the user can type, but I don't know why it only starts counting from the 2nd characters. Means at the end I will able to type an extra character from the maximum amount I set. wInput.maxChars=30 wInput.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, calculate); private function calculate(event:Event=null):void { NameRC=wInput.maxChars-wInput.length; remainingA.text=NameRC; }

  • C++ DLL creation for C# project - No functions exported

    - by Yeti
    I am working on a project that requires some image processing. The front end of the program is C# (cause the guys thought it is a lot simpler to make the UI in it). However, as the image processing part needs a lot of CPU juice I am making this part in C++. The idea is to link it to the C# project and just call a function from a DLL to make the image processing part and allow to the C# environment to process the data afterwards. Now the only problem is that it seems I am not able to make the DLL. Simply put the compiler refuses to put any function into the DLL that I compile. Because the project requires some development time testing I have created two projects into a C++ solution. One is for the Dll and another console application. The console project holds all the files and I just include the corresponding header into my DLL project file. I thought the compiler should take out the functions that I marked as to be exported and make the DLL from them. Nevertheless this does not happens. Here it is how I defined the function in the header: extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) void _stdcall RobotData(BYTE* buf, int** pToNewBackgroundImage, int* pToBackgroundImage, bool InitFlag, ObjectInformation* robot1, ObjectInformation* robot2, ObjectInformation* robot3, ObjectInformation* robot4, ObjectInformation* puck); extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) CvPoint _stdcall RefPointFinder(IplImage* imgInput, CvRect &imgROI, CvScalar &refHSVColorLow, CvScalar &refHSVColorHi ); Followed by the implementation in the cpp file: extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) CvPoint _stdcall RefPointFinder(IplImage* imgInput, CvRect &imgROI,&refHSVColorLow, CvScalar &refHSVColorHi ) { \\... return cvPoint((int)( M10/M00) + imgROI.x, (int)( M01/M00 ) + imgROI.y) ;} extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) void _stdcall RobotData(BYTE* buf, int** pToNewBackgroundImage, int* pToBackgroundImage, bool InitFlag, ObjectInformation* robot1, ObjectInformation* robot2, ObjectInformation* robot3, ObjectInformation* robot4, ObjectInformation* puck) { \\ ...}; And my main file for the DLL project looks like: #ifdef _MANAGED #pragma managed(push, off) #endif /// <summary> Include files. </summary> #include "..\ImageProcessingDebug\ImageProcessingTest.h" #include "..\ImageProcessingDebug\ImageProcessing.h" BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HMODULE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved) { return TRUE; } #ifdef _MANAGED #pragma managed(pop) #endif Needless to say it does not work. A quick look with DLL export viewer 1.36 reveals that no function is inside the library. I don't get it. What I am doing wrong ? As side not I am using the C++ objects (and here it is the C++ DLL part) such as the vector. However, only for internal usage. These will not appear in the headers of either function as you can observe from the previous code snippets. Any ideas? Thx, Bernat

  • Problem on creating font using a custom ant task, which extends LWUIT's FontTask.

    - by Smithy
    Hi. I am new to LWUIT and j2me, and I am building a j2me application for showing Japanese text vertically. The phonetic symbol part of the text should be shown in relatively small font size (about half the size of the text), small Kanas need to be shown as normal ones, and some 'vertical only' characters need to be put into the Private Use Area, etc. I tried to build this font into a bitmap font using the FontTask ant task LWUIT provided, but found that it does support the customizations mentioned above. So I decided to write my own task and add those. Below is what I have achieved: 1 An ant task extending the LWUITTask task to support a new nested element <verticalfont>. public class VerticalFontBuildTask extends LWUITTask { public void addVerticalfont(VerticalFontTask anVerticalFont) { super.addFont(anVerticalFont); } } 2 The VerticalFontTask task, which extends the original FontTask. Instead of inserting a EditorFont object, it inserts a VerticalEditorFont object(derived from EditorFont) into the resource. public class VerticalFontTask extends FontTask { // some constants are omitted public VerticalFontTask() { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.append(UPPER_ALPHABET); sb.append(UPPER_ALPHABET.toLowerCase()); sb.append(HALFWIDTH); sb.append(HIRAGANA); sb.append(HIRAGANA_SMALL); sb.append(KATAKANA); sb.append(KATAKANA_SMALL); sb.append(WIDE); this.setCharset(sb.toString()); } @Override public void addToResources(EditableResources e) { log("Putting rigged font into resource..."); super.addToResources(e); //antialias settings Object aa = this.isAntiAliasing() ? RenderingHints.VALUE_TEXT_ANTIALIAS_ON :RenderingHints.VALUE_TEXT_ANTIALIAS_OFF; VerticalEditorFont ft = new VerticalEditorFont( Font.createSystemFont( this.systemFace, this.systemStyle, this.systemSize), null, getLogicalName(), isCreateBitmap(), aa, getCharset()); e.setFont(getName(), ft); } VerticalEditorFont is just a bunch of methods logging to output and call the super. I am still trying to figure out how to extend it. But things are not going well: none of the methods on the VerticalEditorFont object get called when executing this task. My questions are: 1 where did I do wrong? 2 I want to embed a truetype font to support larger screens. I only need a small part of the font inside my application and I don't want it to carry a font resource weighing 1~2MB. Is there a way to extract only the characters needed and pack them into LWUIT?

  • Why wont my while loop wont take new input (c++)

    - by Van
    I've written a program to get a string input from a user and parse it into tokens and move a robot according to the input. My problem is trying to issue more than one command. The code looks like: void Navigator::manualDrive() { const int bufSize = 42; char uinput[bufSize]; char delim[] = " "; char *token; while(true) { Navigator::parseInstruction(uinput); } } /* parseInstruction(char *c) -- parses cstring instructions received * and moves robot accordingly */ void Navigator::parseInstruction(char * c) { const int bufSize = 42; char uinput[bufSize]; char delim[] = " "; char *token; cout << "Enter your directions below: \n"; cin.ignore(); cin.getline (uinput, bufSize); token=strtok(uinput, delim); if(strcmp("forward", token) == 0) { int inches; token = strtok(NULL, delim); inches = atoi (token); Navigator::travel(inches); } if(strcmp("back",token) == 0) { int inches; token = strtok(NULL, delim); inches = atoi (token); double value = fabs(0.0735 * fabs(inches) - 0.0550); myRobot.backward(1/*speed*/, value/*time*/); } if(strcmp("turn",token) == 0) { int degrees; token = strtok(NULL, delim); if(strcmp("left",token) == 0) { token = strtok(uinput, delim); degrees = atoi (token); double value = fabs(0.0041 * degrees - 0.0523); myRobot.turnLeft(1/*speed*/, value/*time*/); } } if(strcmp("turn",token) == 0) { int degrees; token = strtok(NULL, delim); if(strcmp("right",token) == 0) { token = strtok(uinput, delim); degrees = atoi (token); double value = fabs(0.0041 * degrees - 0.0523); myRobot.turnRight(1/*speed*/, value/*time*/); } } if(strcmp("stop",token) == 0) { myRobot.motors(0,0); } } In the function manualDrive I have a while loop calling the function parseInstruction infinitely. The program outputs "Enter your directions below: " When I give the program instructions it executes them, and then it outputs "enter your directions below: " again and when I input my directions again it does not execute them and outputs "Enter your directions below: " instead. I'm sure this is a very simple fix I'm just very new to c++. So if you could please help me out and tell me why the program only takes the first set of directions. thanks

  • How to infer the type of a derived class in base class?

    - by enzi
    I want to create a method that allows me to change arbitrary properties of classes that derive from my base class, the result should look like this: SetPropertyValue("size.height", 50); – where size is a property of my derived class and height is a property of size. I'm almost done with my implementation but there's one final obstacle that I want to solve before moving on, to describe this I will first have to explain my implementation a bit: Properties that can be modified are decorated with an attribute There's a method in my base class that searches for all derived classes and their decorated properties For each property I generate a "property modifier", a class that contains 2 delegates: one to set and one to get the value of the property. Property Modifiers are stored in a dictionary, with the name of the property as key In my base class, there is another dictionary that contains all property-modifier-dictionaries, with the Type of the respective class as key. What the SetPropertyValue method does is this: Get the correct property-modifier-dictionary, using the concrete type of the derived class (<- yet to solve) Get the property modifier of the property to change (e.g. of the property size) Use the get or set delegate to modify the property's value Some example code to clarify further: private static Dictionary<RuntimeTypeHandle, object> EditableTypes; //property-modifier-dictionary protected void SetPropertyValue<T>(EditablePropertyMap<T> map, string property, object value) { var property = map[property]; // get the property modifier property.Set((T)this, value); // use the set delegate (encapsulated in a method) } In the above code, T is the Type of the actual (derived) class. I need this type for the get/set delegates. The problem is how to get the EditablePropertyMap<T> when I don't know what T is. My current (ugly) solution is to pass the map in an overriden virtual method in the derived class: public override void SetPropertyValue(string property, object value) { base.SetPropertyValue((EditablePropertyMap<ExampleType>)EditableTypes[typeof(ExampleType)], property, value); } What this does is: get the correct dictionary containing the property modifiers of this class using the class's type, cast it to the appropiate type and pass it to the SetPropertyValue method. I want to get rid of the SetPropertyValue method in my derived class (since there are a lot of derived classes), but don't know yet how to accomplish that. I cannot just make a virtual GetEditablePropertyMap<T> method because I cannot infer a concrete type for T then. I also cannot acces my dictionary directly with a type and retrieve an EditablePropertyMap<T> from it because I cannot cast to it from object in the base class, since again I do not know T. I found some neat tricks to infere types (e.g. by adding a dummy T parameter), but cannot apply them to my specific problem. I'd highly appreciate any suggestions you may have for me.

  • C# xml Class to substitute ini files

    - by Eduardo
    Hi guys, I am learning Windows Forms in C#.NET 2008 and i want to build a class to work with SIMPLE xml files (config file like INI files), but i just need a simple class (open, getvalue, setvalue, creategroup, save and close functions), to substitute of ini files. I already did something and it is working but I am having trouble when I need to create different groups, something like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <CONFIG> <General> <Field1>192.168.0.2</Field1> </General> <Data> <Field1>Joseph</Field1> <Field2>Locked</Field2> </Data> </CONFIG> how can i specify that i want to read the field1 of [data] group? note that i have same field name in both groups (Field1)! I am using System.Linq, something like this: To open document: XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); xmlDoc.Load(FilePath); To save document: xmlDoc.Save(FilePath); To get value: public string getValue(string Field) { string result = ""; try { XmlNodeList xmlComum = xmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(Field); if (xmlComum.Item(0) == null) result = ""; else result = xmlComum.Item(0).InnerText; } catch (Exception ex) { return ""; } return result; } To set value: public void setValue(string Group, string Field, string FieldValue) { try { XmlNodeList xmlComum = xmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(Field); if (xmlComum.Item(0) == null) { xmlComum = xmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(Group); if (xmlComum.Item(0) == null) { // create group createGroup(Group); xmlComum = xmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(Group); } XmlElement xmlE = xmlDoc.CreateElement(Field); XmlText xmlT = xmlDoc.CreateTextNode(FieldValue); xmlE.AppendChild(xmlT); xmlComum.Item(0).AppendChild(xmlE); } else { // item already exists, just change its value xmlComum.Item(0).InnerText = Value; } xmlDoc.Save(FilePath); } catch (Exception ex) { } } The CreateGroup code: public void createGroup(string Group) { try { XmlElement xmlComum = xmlDoc.CreateElement(Group); xmlDoc.DocumentElement.AppendChild(xmlComum); xmlDoc.Save(FilePath); } catch (Exception ex) { } } Thank You!

  • UIVIewController not released when view is dismissed

    - by Nelson Ko
    I have a main view, mainWindow, which presents a couple of buttons. Both buttons create a new UIViewController (mapViewController), but one will start a game and the other will resume it. Both buttons are linked via StoryBoard to the same View. They are segued to modal views as I'm not using the NavigationController. So in a typical game, if a person starts a game, but then goes back to the main menu, he triggers: [self dismissViewControllerAnimated:YES completion:nil ]; to return to the main menu. I would assume the view controller is released at this point. The user resumes the game with the second button by opening another instance of mapViewController. What is happening, tho, is some touch events will trigger methods on the original instance (and write status updates to them - therefore invisible to the current view). When I put a breakpoint in the mapViewController code, I can see the instance will be one or the other (one of which should be released). I have tried putting a delegate to the mainWindow clearing the view: [self.delegate clearMapView]; where in the mainWindow - (void) clearMapView{ gameWindow = nil; } I have also tried self.view=nil; in the mapViewController. The mapViewController code contains MVC code, where the model is static. I wonder if this may prevent ARC from releasing the view. The model.m contains: static CanShieldModel *sharedInstance; + (CanShieldModel *) sharedModel { @synchronized(self) { if (!sharedInstance) sharedInstance = [[CanShieldModel alloc] init]; return sharedInstance; } return sharedInstance; } Another post which may have a lead, but so far not successful, is UIViewController not being released when popped I have in ViewDidLoad: // checks to see if app goes inactive - saves. [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(resignActive) name:UIApplicationWillResignActiveNotification object:nil]; with the corresponding in ViewDidUnload: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:UIApplicationWillResignActiveNotification object:nil]; Does anyone have any suggestions? EDIT: - (void) prepareForSegue:(UIStoryboardSegue *)segue sender:(id)sender{ NSString *identifier = segue.identifier; if ([identifier isEqualToString: @"Start Game"]){ gameWindow = (ViewController *)[segue destinationViewController]; gameWindow.newgame=-1; gameWindow.delegate = self; } else if ([identifier isEqualToString: @"Resume Game"]){ gameWindow = (ViewController *)[segue destinationViewController]; gameWindow.newgame=0; gameWindow.delegate = self;

But as soon as i clicked on my widget my mainactivity get force close. here is code of my widget class... @Override public void onUpdate(Context context, AppWidgetManager appWidgetManager, int[] widgets) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub int numofWidgets = widgets.length; for(int i=0;i<numofWidgets;i++){ int widget = widgets[i]; Intent in = new Intent(context, EmergencyButton.class); in.putExtra("uniquevalue", "widget"); PendingIntent pendingintent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, in, 0); RemoteViews views = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.widgetlayout); views.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.button, pendingintent); appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(widget, views); } } And Here is my code of mainactivity where iam checking whether called came from widget or not @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.mainactivity); Intent intentwidget = this.getIntent(); if(intentwidget !=null) { String widgetdata = "nothing"; widgetdata = intentwidget.getExtras().getString("uniquevalue"); if(widgetdata.equals("widget")) { et1.setText(widgetdata); } } } And here is my logcat 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activityComponentInfo{com.appsionlabs.googlemapv2/com.appsionlabs.googlemapv2.EmergencyButton}: java.lang.NullPointerException 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1647) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1663) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$1500(ActivityThread.java:117) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:931) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3683) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:507) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:839) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:597) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at com.appsionlabs.googlemapv2.EmergencyButton.onCreate(EmergencyButton.java:29) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 11-04 14:57:14.361: E/AndroidRuntime(1701): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1611)
