  • Opacity CSS not working in IE8

    I'm using CSS to indicate the trigger text for a jQuery slide-down section: i.e. when you hover over the trigger text the cursor changes to a pointer and the opacity of the trigger text is reduced to indicate that the text has a click action. This works fine in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE8 the opacity doesn't change. I've tried a variety of CSS settings without any success. For example HTML: <h3 class="slidedownTrigger">This is the trigger text</h3> CSS: .slidedownTrigger {     cursor: pointer;     -ms-filter: “progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=75)”;     filter: alpha(opacity=75);     -khtml-opacity: 0.75;     -moz-opacity: 0.75;     opacity: 0.75; } What's stopping IE changing the opacity? Note: I've tried this on a variety of different elements, swapping round the order of the CSS statements, and just using the IE ones on their own. I've also tried using -ms-filter: "alpha(opacity=75)"; but with no success. I've run out of things to try to get opacity modification working in IE8. Any ideas?

  • using JQuery and Prototype in the same page

    Hi, Several of my pages use both JQuery and Protoype. Since I upgraded to version 1.3 of JQuery this appears to be causing problems, because both libraries define a function named '$'. JQuery provides a function noConflict() which relinquishes control of $ to other libraries that may be using it. So it seems like I need to go through all my pages that look like this: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/jquery.js"></script> </head> and change them to look like this: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/obp/js/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.noConflict(); var $j = jQuery; </script> </head> I should then be able to use '$' for Prototype and '$j' (or 'jQuery') for JQuery. I'm not entirely happy about duplicating these 2 lines of code in every relevant page, and expect that at some point somebody is likely to forget to add them to a new page. I'd prefer to be able to do the following Create a file jquery-noconflict.js which "includes" jquery.js and the 2 lines of code shown above Import jquery-noconflict.js (instead of jquery.js) in all my JSP/HTML pages However, I'm not sure if it's possible to include one JS file in another, in the manner I've described? Of course an alternate solution is simply to add the 2 lines of code above to jquery.js directly, but if I do that I'll need to remember to do it every time I upgrade JQuery. Thanks in advance, Don

  • Capture Silverlight 4 event when panel clicked

    I have a small Silverlight 4 app that essentially consists of a grid containing a label and a combo box. When I click the label, I replace it with a second text box so that I can edit the label (much the way you can edit the name of a Silverlight control in VS2010). I have a LostFocus event handler on the text box that will end editing when the control loses focus (restoring the updated label). Trouble is, users tend to click on the panel when they are done editing rather than on another control (or hitting Enter, which is also supported). I tried adding a left mouse down event handler to the panel. However, that only fires when the text box does not have the focus (I guess the text box captured the mouse?) Is there an approach to recognize that a non-input control was clicked that would enable me to terminate edit mode?

  • Is JQuery UI meant to work only with Google Chrome??? (How about IE and Firefox??!)

    Hello, I'm using "Jquery UI 1./Dan Wellman/Packt Publishing" to learn JQuery UI. I'm working on the 'Dialog widget' chapiter. After I've completed a series of exercises in order to build a Dialog widget (using Google Chrome), I then tried my work with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The result has been disappointing. Chrome was perfet With Internet Explorer, (1) the title of the Dialog widget did not appear, (2) The location of the dialog widget was not correct (given the position: ["center", "center"]). It was rather offset toward left. With Firefox, the location was respected. However, only the outer container was visible. the content was missing, just a blank container. Also using Option Show:true and Hide:true did only work with Chrome. I wonder now if JQuery UI was meant to be used only with Google Chrome. I just think that I might be missing some directives to make it work with major browsers (as the author claimed in his book). Here's the code. Since, I'm using ASP.NET MVC, certain codes, such as the element to the css, do not appear.     i've a webview in my app. It has + and - buttons to increase and decrease the font. When I start the view, the text occupies whole 320 pixels width. I'm following the way mentioned in "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/589177/how-to-increase-font-size-in-uiwebview" I'm seeing the increase and decrease of font. But once the font size increases, text is not occupying full view. It won't occupy whole 320 pixels width. As and when text size increases, the width of final text in web view decreases slowly. Why? How to avoid it?

  • TinyMCE not working in http request xhr ajax generated page

    So i I have a page that contains links that call an httpRequest. The request calls a php file that grabs data from mysql and pre populates a form which is then returned to the browser/webpage. My problem is that when the page is returned to the browser via the httpRequest/ajax the text area does not display the tinymce editor, it just displays a normal text area. It looks like my request and ajax is working fine the text area just doesn't have the tinycme editor on it. When i don't use ajax it works fine but when i put it in a separate file and call it via ajax it doesn't bring in the tinymce editor. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so that my ajax generated page displays the text area with the tinymce editor. Thank you.

    I am using PBE encryption to encrypt and decrypt some text on an Android application but I get the BadPaddingException: with the "pad block corrupted" message when I use the wrong private key to decrypt the text. My question, since I am not well versed with encryption in Java, is if this is the normal behavior of the encryption API, because I need to do some logic in the case when the wrong key is entered, but I do not know the private key, nor do I store it anywhere (storing just the encrypted and decrypted check text).     Is there a way to save a webpage as static HTML, available for offline viewing, editing etc.? I want to remove all javascript files. Leave only HTML, CSS and images. For example, if this web page has a Facebook Like button, I want the image of the button to be part of the HTML as a regular image (and not be loaded as some Javascript code runs after I load the page). I'm trying to prepare a webpage for an offline demo. When I use the standard "save as HTML complete" like tools, all the Javascript is saved as well, and when viewed offline, all the dynamic content is blanks. Note- I don't expect the dynamic content to work, of course, with no Javascript. I just want the web page to LOOK as though it was just loaded from the interwebs. Thanks, Tal.

    I've got a contact form with 3 fields and a textarea... I use jQuery to validate it and then php to send emails. This contact form works fine but, when I receive an email, From field isn't correct. I'd like to want that From field shows text typed in the Name field of the contact form.   • IBOutlet UILabel do not get resized

    HI all, I have designed a view in Interface Builder and connected correctly with its controller. There some UILabel in it that are going to be filled with lot of text. But, even if I have declared "word wrap" and set line to 0 in IB, I can display only first line. I notice that if I increase the height of the UILabel in IB, all the text display properly in multi line, but I cannot do that because text may vary. Shouldn't the UILabel resize itself to fit all the text ? Also, if I built the UILabel programmatically I can succesfully accomplish a word wrap, why cannot do the same with IB ? What am I doing wrong ? thanks Leonardo

  • Choosing my first Domain Registrar?

    This will be the first domain i've ever registered. So i'm at a loss what to look for. I definitely don't want to go with GoDaddy. Here are my requirements: Must have unlimited email forwards for my domain Easy to transfer away if i choose. Must not be one of those shady registrars that will try to auction your domain at the end. Ability to create sub domains Domain Registration is Private I would like a domain registrar that would let me use my dynamic ip of my ISP (Cable) if i want to. So hopefully they would have some type program that would detect IP changes and update accordingly So i've looked at a variety of registrars so far. The three left were really NameCheap, DreamHost, & DomainMonster. I have heard good things about DreamHost but i think its off the list because they don't give you any information about the features you get when you register your domain with them. They have a "Whats included" button the page but it mainly list the features with hosting not registration. DomainMonster looks pretty cool but i don't see anything about subdomains. Also i would assume they don't have a system for dynamic ip address updating. So you would have to constantly check that your ip of your ISP has changed or not and update it manually. NameCheap also looks nice. There are two things i really like about them. Right on their feature page they list "Free Dynamic DNS With Client" which is pretty cool. They also have a free SSL certificate for the first year. Haven't messed a lot with certificates but this would definitely be something i would use. Only minus i can see is you only get free private whois for the first year. After that its $2.99 which isn't that big of a deal. I'm leaning towards NameCheap now. Is this a good choice. Is there anything else i should be looking at?

  • Javascript String Length Differs From PHP mb_strlen

    I use document.getElementById("text").value.length to get the string length through javascript, and mb_strlen($_POST['text']) to get the string length by PHP and both differs very much. Carriage returns are converted in javascript before getting the string length, but I guess some characters are not being counted. For example, [b]15. Umieszczanie obrazka z logo na stronie zespolu[/b] This block of text is calculated 57 in javascript and 58 in PHP. When the text gets long, the difference increases. Is there any way to overcome this?

  • Create page break using OpenXml

    I use OpenXml to create Word document with simple text and some tables under this text. How can I force Paragraph with this text to show always on new page? Maybe this paragraph should be some Header but I'm not sure how to do this. Thanks
