• JS - Why is this hidden div not showing in IE?

  Hello. I've made a page which should show a div when the user clicks on a input text box. The div will contain more information about the required input, etc. The page works fine on FireFox and the div shows, but when using IE the div just doesn't show. It seems like I've tried everything and nothing has worked so far. This is the page. Maybe you could look at the source and see what I'm doing wrong? If you need me to upload the source as a text file, I can do that. Thanks for the help!

• Unsigneds in order to prevent negative numbers

  let's rope I can make this non-sujective Here's the thing: Sometimes, on fixed-typed languages, I restrict input on methods and functions to positive numbers by using the unsigned types, like unsigned int or unsigned double, etc. Most libraries, however, doesn't seem to think that way. Take C# string.Length. It's a integer, even though it can never be negative. Same goes for C/C++: sqrt input is an int or a double. I know there are reasons for this ... for example your argument might be read from a file and (no idea why) you may prefer to send the value directly to the function and check for errors latter (or use a try-catch block). So, I'm assuming that libraries are way better designed than my own code. So what are the reasons against using unsigned numbers to represent positive numbers? It's because of overflow when we cast then back to signed types?

• How to search for duplicate values in a huge text file having around Half Million records

  I have an input txt file which has data in the form of records (each row is a record and represents more or less like a DB table) and I need to find for duplicate values. For example: Rec1: ACCOUNT_NBR_1*NAME_1*VALUE_1 Rec2: ACCOUNT_NBR_2*NAME_2*VALUE_2 Rec3: ACCOUNT_NBR_1*NAME_3*VALUE_3 In the above set, the Rec1 and Rec2 are considered to be duplicates as the ACCOUNT NUMBERS are same(ACCOUNT_NBR1). Note: The input file shown above is a delimiter type file (the delimiter being *) however the file type can also be a fixed length file where each column starts and ends with a specified positions. I am currently doing this with the following logic: Loop thru each ACCOUNT NUMBER Loop thru each line of the txt file and record and check if this is repeated. If repeated record the same in a hashtable. End End And I am using 'Pattern' & 'BufferedReader' java API's to perform the above task. But since it is taking a long time, I would like to know a better way of handling it. Thanks, Shibu

• Self Executing jQuery Plugin?

  I am working on expansion of my jQuery plug-in authoring knowledge, just playing around with my own ideas for learning benefits. So i was wondering how you guys tackle the need of plugin executing without any user specific input. So I have a need for plug-in that executes right away after document is ready, without any user's specific input just as long as doc is loaded, so the only way I see how to execute plug-in on it's own is to attach handler to ready listener that executes my function which I extended the jQuery with. And because this needs to be self enclosed, part of the code, I attach handler to event listener within the function. So how else could one tackle this? Any take at this is appreciated. • Confused about "override" vs. "new" in C#

  I'm having the following classes: class Base { public virtual void Print() { Console.WriteLine("Base"); } } class Der1 : Base { public new virtual void Print() { Console.WriteLine("Der1"); } } class Der2 : Der1 { public override void Print() { Console.WriteLine("Der2"); } } This is my main method: Base b = new Der2(); Der1 d1 = new Der2(); Der2 d2 = new Der2(); b.Print(); d1.Print(); d2.Print(); The output is Base, Der2, Der2. As far as I know, Override won't let previous method to run, even if the pointer is pointing to them. So the first line should output Der2 as well. However Base came out. How is it possible? How the override didn't work there?

  I have an array: tokens = [["hello","world"],["hello","ruby"]] all_tokens = tokens.flatten.uniq # all_tokens=["hello","world","ruby"] Now I need to create two arrays corresponding to all_tokens, where the first array will contain the position of each word in sub-array of tokens. I.E Output: [[0,0],[1],[1]] # (w.r.t all_tokens) To make it clear it reads, The index of "hello" is 0 and 0 in the 2 sub-arrays of tokens. And second array contains index of each word w.r.t tokens.I.E Output: [[0,1],[0],[1]] To make it clear it reads,the index of hello 0,1. I.E "hello" is in index 0 and 1 of tokens array. Cheers!

• How to order by results from 2 seperate tables in PHP and MySQL.

  I am trying to output results of 2 sql queries to one JSON file. The problem is that I would like to order them ascending by distance which is the result of equation that takes homelat and homelon from the users table and lat, lng from locations table.(basically it takes lattitude and longitude of one point and another and computes the distance between these points). Assume the constructor doesn't do anything funny with the input, and the variables stored in both objects are identical. Removal includes ALL instances of the duplicated character (so if you find 3 n's, all three have to go), and original character order needs to be preserved. However, that code will not give any output and just keeps waiting in the tun.stdout. When I kill the newtunnel process externally, it flushes all the data to tun.stdout. So it seems that I can't get any data from the tun.stdout while it is still running. Why is that? How can I get the information? Note that the default bufsize for Popen is 0 (unbuffered). I can also specify bufsize=0 but that doesn't change anything.

  Hi, I've inherited a project with some nasty JavaScript that depends on hard coded object ids. i.e. There are lots of places where it does things like this var magazine = document.getElementById('repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0'); When the page renders in my UAT environment, the HTML looks like this, and everything works OK. <input id="repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay:_ctl3:chkCats:0" ... etc However, when I put it on my Production environment, the HTML is suddenly rending like this: <input id="repModuleDisplay_ctl03_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay$ctl03$chkCats$0" ... etc The difference in ids means that the JavaScript can't find the Element, and fails. In an ideal world, I'd scrap the buggy JavaScript and do it again properly, but for a quick fix, I'd like to know what is causing the difference in rendering between the two environments.   Hi Guys This is really getting to me now.I have a form that loads when the page loads.In my jquery 'ready' function I append a hidden to that form like so : $("<input id='thehidden' type='hidden' name='thehidden' value='hiddenval'>").appendTo("#MenuForm") When I check the form content with firebug i can see the element is added. ["$(\"#MenuForm\").children()"] is [div, input#thehidden hiddenval] All good so far.When I submit this form and try and read the elemet again,i can't get the value of the new hidden val I added. alert($('#thehidden').val()) is undefined Any help would be appreciated

My question is, if I give each of these help divs a class of "form-tip" and each input that has a tip the class "has-tip", how can I get the tip to always show up in the previous "form-tip" div? • Linux server is only using 60% of memory, then swapping

I'm at a loss to figure out what's going on. How can I find out what's causing this? Update: The system is a fully 64-bit system, so there should be no question of memory limitations due to 32-bit issues. Update2: As I mentioned in the original question, I've already tried tuning swappiness to all sorts of values, including 0. The result is always the same, with approximately 1.6 GB of memory remaining unused. Update3: Added top output to the above info.

  I've got a git repository with plenty of commits that are under no particular branch, I can git show them but when I try to list branches that contain them, it reports back nothing: I thought this is the dangling commits/tree issue (as a result of -D branch), so I pruned the repo, but I still see the case after that: $ git fetch origin $ git fsck --unreachable $ git fsck No output, nothing dangling (right?) $ git show 793db7f272ba4bbdd1e32f14410a52a412667042 commit 793db7f272ba4bbdd1e32f14410a52a412667042 Author: .. But $ git branch --contains 793db7f272ba4bbdd1e32f14410a52a412667042 Gives no output What exactly is the state of that commit? How can I list all commits with similar state, How can I delete commits like those?

The problem is that I have to put the setprecision everywhere in the output, like that: func1() { cout<<setprecision(12)<<value; cout<<setprecision(10)<<value2; } func2() { cout<<setprecision(17)<<value4; cout<<setprecision(3)<<value42; } And that is very cumbersome. Is there a way to set more generally the cout fixed modifier? Thanks
