  • How can i set isdigit() command as a variable?

    - by Nick
I'm new to python but I caught on to the basics pretty quick and decided to start trying to make a program while I'm still learning, since I learn best by actually doing things. So I'm making a program in python that will add polynomials and I need to see if a character from the parser is numeric im using the isdigit() command. Instead of having to type isdigit() all the time in my code such as n.isdigit(), I want to assign it to a variable t = 'isdigit()' and then type n.t. This doesn't work, so is there an alternative to not typing the whole command?

  • jQuery ajax post of jpg image to .net webservice. Image results corrupted

    - by sosergio
    I have a phonegap jquery app that opens the camera and take a picture. I then POST this picture to a .net webservice, wich I've coded. I can't use phonegap FileTransfer because such isn't supported by Bada os, wich is a requirement. I believe I've successfully loaded the image from phonegap FileSystem API, I've attached it into an .ajax type:post, I've even received it from .net side, but when .net save the image into the server, the image results corrupted. It seems to me that two sides of the communication have different data type. Has anyone experience in this? Any help will be appreciated. This is my code: //PHONEGAP CAMERA ACCESS (summed up) navigator.camera.getPicture(onGetPictureSuccess, onGetPictureFail, { quality: 50, destinationType:Camera.DestinationType.FILE_URI }); window.resolveLocalFileSystemURI(imageURI, onResolveFileSystemURISuccess, onResolveFileSystemURIError); fileEntry.file(gotFileSuccess, gotFileError); new FileReader().readAsDataURL(file); //UPLOAD FILE function onDataReadSuccess(evt) { var image_data = evt.target.result; var filename = unique_id(); var filext = "jpg"; $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : SERVICE_BASE_URL+"/fotos/"+filename+"?ext="+filext, cache: false, timeout: 100000, processData: false, data: image_data, contentType: 'image/jpeg', success : function(data) { console.log("Data Uploaded with success. Message: "+ data); $.mobile.hidePageLoadingMsg(); $.mobile.changePage("ok.html"); } }); } On my .net Web Service this is the method that gets invoked: public string FotoSave(string filename, string extension, Stream fileContent) { string filePath = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/foto_data/") + "\\" + filename; FileStream writeStream = new FileStream(filePath, FileMode.OpenOrCreate, FileAccess.Write); int Length = 256; Byte[] buffer = new Byte[Length]; int bytesRead = readStream.Read(buffer, 0, Length); // write the required bytes while (bytesRead > 0) { writeStream.Write(buffer, 0, bytesRead); bytesRead = readStream.Read(buffer, 0, Length); } readStream.Close(); writeStream.Close(); }

  • Drawing an image is completely out

    - by ct2k7
Hi I'm using this code below to let a user "draw" their signature on a UIView component on my app: UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(signature.frame.size); [drawImage.image drawInRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, signature.frame.size.width, signature.frame.size.height)]; CGContextSetLineCap(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), kCGLineCapRound); CGContextSetLineWidth(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), 5.0); CGContextSetRGBStrokeColor(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0); CGContextMoveToPoint(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), lastPoint.x, lastPoint.y); CGContextAddLineToPoint(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), lastPoint.x, lastPoint.y); CGContextStrokePath(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()); CGContextFlush(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()); drawImage.image = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext() The issue I am having is that the drawing is not only is the drawing not in line with the pointer when in use in the simulator, the image is going outside of the designated UIView compontent and is getting smaller/out of focus the more I draw, as you can see in this image: And after a few lines, showing the boundaries of the exact are of where I can draw: Any ideas on what's happening here? lastPoint.y is defined as: lastPoint.y -= 20; Any ideas on what on earth is happening here?

  • Pymedia video encoding failed

    - by user1474837
I am using Python 2.5 with Windows XP. I am trying to make a list of pygame images into a video file using this function. I found the function on the internet and edited it. It worked at first, than it stopped working. This is what it printed out: Making video... Formating 114 Frames... starting loop making encoder Frame 1 process 1 Frame 1 process 2 Frame 1 process 2.5 This is the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "ScreenCapture.py", line 202, in <module> makeVideoUpdated(record_files, video_file) File "ScreenCapture.py", line 151, in makeVideoUpdated d = enc.encode(da) pymedia.video.vcodec.VCodecError: Failed to encode frame( error code is 0 ) This is my code: def makeVideoUpdated(files, outFile, outCodec='mpeg1video', info1=0.1): fw = open(outFile, 'wb') if (fw == None) : print "Cannot open file " + outFile return if outCodec == 'mpeg1video' : bitrate= 2700000 else: bitrate= 9800000 start = time.time() enc = None frame = 1 print "Formating "+str(len(files))+" Frames..." print "starting loop" for img in files: if enc == None: print "making encoder" params= {'type': 0, 'gop_size': 12, 'frame_rate_base': 125, 'max_b_frames': 90, 'height': img.get_height(), 'width': img.get_width(), 'frame_rate': 90, 'deinterlace': 0, 'bitrate': bitrate, 'id': vcodec.getCodecID(outCodec) } enc = vcodec.Encoder(params) # Create VFrame print "Frame "+str(frame)+" process 1" bmpFrame= vcodec.VFrame(vcodec.formats.PIX_FMT_RGB24, img.get_size(), # Covert image to 24bit RGB (pygame.image.tostring(img, "RGB"), None, None) ) print "Frame "+str(frame)+" process 2" # Convert to YUV, then codec da = bmpFrame.convert(vcodec.formats.PIX_FMT_YUV420P) print "Frame "+str(frame)+" process 2.5" d = enc.encode(da) #THIS IS WHERE IT STOPS print "Frame "+str(frame)+" process 3" fw.write(d.data) print "Frame "+str(frame)+" process 4" frame += 1 print "savng file" fw.close() Could somebody tell me why I have this error and possibly how to fix it? The files argument is a list of pygame images, outFile is a path, outCodec is default, and info1 is not used anymore. UPDATE 1 This is the code I used to make that list of pygame images. from PIL import ImageGrab import time, pygame pygame.init() f = [] #This is the list that contains the images fps = 1 for n in range(1, 100): info = ImageGrab.grab() size = info.size mode = info.mode data = info.tostring() info = pygame.image.fromstring(data, size, mode) f.append(info) time.sleep(fps)

  • How do I create a Status Icon / System Tray Icon with custom text and transparent background using P

    - by Raugturi
Here is the code that I have so far to define the icon: icon_bg = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file('gmail.png') w, h = icon_bg.get_width(), icon_bg.get_height() cmap = gtk.gdk.Colormap(gtk.gdk.visual_get_system(), False) drawable = gtk.gdk.Pixmap(None, w, h, 24) drawable.set_colormap = cmap gc = drawable.new_gc() drawable.draw_pixbuf(gc, icon_bg, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) drawn_icon = gtk.gdk.Pixbuf(gtk.gdk.COLORSPACE_RGB, False, 8, w, h) drawn_icon.get_from_drawable(drawable, cmap, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) icon = gtk.status_icon_new_from_pixbuf(drawn_icon) This works to get the png into the icon, but falls short in two areas. First, transparency is not working. If I use a 22x22 png with transparent background and the image centered, I end up with sections of other active icons showing up inside of mine, like this: http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/Raugturi/22x22_image_with_transparency.png The icon it choose to steal from is somewhat random. Sometimes it's part of the dropbox icon, others the NetworkManager Applet. If I instead use this code: icon_bg = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file('gmail.png') w, h = icon_bg.get_width(), icon_bg.get_height() cmap = gtk.gdk.Colormap(gtk.gdk.visual_get_system(), False) drawable = gtk.gdk.Pixmap(None, w, h, 24) drawable.set_colormap = cmap gc = drawable.new_gc() drawable.draw_pixbuf(gc, icon_bg, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) drawn_icon = gtk.gdk.Pixbuf(gtk.gdk.COLORSPACE_RGB, False, 8, 22, 22) drawn_icon.get_from_drawable(drawable, cmap, 0, 0, 3, 6, w, h) icon = gtk.status_icon_new_from_pixbuf(drawn_icon) And an image that is only 16x11 with the transparent edges removed, what I end up with is this: Same URL but file is 16x11_image_positioned_in_middle.png So how do I end up with a transparent block like the 1st one that doesn't pull in stuff from other icons? As for the second problem, I need the ability to write on the image before converting it to the icon. I tried using draw_glyphs and it told me I should be using Pango layout/context instead. Unfortunately all the Pango tutorials I could find deal with actual windows, not the status icon. Is there a good tutorial out there for Pango that would apply to this issue (and also maybe have at least some explanation of how to tell it what font to use as all of them that I found seem to lack this and it won't write anything without it). Note: Sorry for the lack of actual images and only one working link, apparently this is a spam prevention feature due to my lack of reputation.

  • Using jep.invoke() method

    - by hofsoc
Hi, I need to call a function from a python script and pass in parameters into it. I have a test python script which I can call and run from java using Jepp - this then adds the person. Eg Test.py import Finding from Finding import * f = Finding() f.addFinding("John", "Doe", 27) Within my Finding class I have addFinding(firstname, lastName, age) However, I wish to be able to do this from within java. Should I be using the jep.invoke() method. Does anyone have a hello world example of such a thing being done or forward me to some good examples? Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thanks in advance

I'm using GWT if that matters. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

  • How Flask loads blueprint internaly?

    - by Ignas B.
I'm just interested how Flask's blueprints gets imported. It still imports the python module at the end of all the stuff done by Flask and if I'm right python does two things when importing: registers the module name in the namespace and then initialize it if needed. So if Flask blueprint is initialized when it gets registered, so all the module then is in memory and if there are lots of blueprints to register, the memory just gets wasted, because in one request basically you use one blueprint. Not a big loss but still... But if it is only registered in the namespace and initialized only when needed (when the real request reaches it), then it make sense to register them all at once (as is the recommended way I understood). This is I guess the case here :) But just wanted to ask and understand a bit deeper.

  • numpy array C api

    - by wiso
I have a C++ function returning a std::vector and I want to use it in python, so I'm using the C numpy api: static PyObject * py_integrate(PyObject *self, PyObject *args){ ... std::vector<double> integral; cpp_function(integral); // this change integral npy_intp size = {integral.size()}; PyObject *out = PyArray_SimpleNewFromData(1, &size, NPY_DOUBLE, &(integral[0])); return out; } when I call it from python, if I do import matplotlib.pyplot as plt a = py_integrate(parameters) print a fig = plt.figure() ax = fig.add_subplot(111) ax.plot(a) print a the first print is ok, the values are correct, but when I plot a they are not, and in particular in the second print I see very strange values like 1E-308 1E-308 ... or 0 0 0 ... as an unitialized memory. I don't understand why the first print is ok.

  • How can I get my setup.py to use a relative path to my files?

    - by Chris B.
I'm trying to build a Python distribution with distutils. Unfortunately, my directory structure looks like this: /code /mypackage __init__.py file1.py file2.py /subpackage __init__.py /build setup.py Here's my setup.py file: from distutils.core import setup setup( name = 'MyPackage', description = 'This is my package', packages = ['mypackage', 'mypackage.subpackage'], package_dir = { 'mypackage' : '../mypackage' }, version = '1', url = 'http://www.mypackage.org/', author = 'Me', author_email = '[email protected]', ) When I run python setup.py sdist it correctly generates the manifest file, but doesn't include my source files in the distribution. Apparently, it creates a directory to contain the source files (i.e. mypackage1) then copies each of the source files to mypackage1/../mypackage which puts them outside of the distribution. How can I correct this, without forcing my directory structure to conform to what distutils expects?

  • How to print absolute line number in uncaught exception?

    - by DSblizzard
When error occured Python prints something like this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 2, in <module> File "<stdin>", line 8, in m File "<stdin>", line 5, in exec_st File "<stdin>", line 9, in exec_assign File "<stdin>", line 48, in ref_by_id IndexError: list index out of range where 2, ... , 48 are relative line numbers which are not very convenient. How to print absolute line numbers in such error messages? EDIT: Maybe it's a dumb question, but answer will facilitate development a little. I'm printing text in several files. When done, press shortcut which runs python and copies contents of current file to console. Proposed solution forces to press excess keystrokes (Ctrl+S, Alt+Tab) and create additional files. I hope I have put it clear.

  • Robust DateTime parser library for .NET

    - by Frank Krueger
Hello, I am writing an RSS and Mail reader app in C# (technically MonoTouch). I have run into the issue of parsing DateTimes. I see a lot of variance in how dates are presented in the wild and have begun writing a function like this: public static DateTime ParseTime(string timeStr) { var formats = new string[] { "ddd, d MMM yyyy H:mm:ss \"GMT+00:00\"", "d MMM yyyy H:mm:ss \"EST\"", "yyyy-MM-dd\"T\"HH:mm:ss\"Z\"", "ddd MMM d HH:mm:ss \"+0000\" yyyy", }; try { return DateTime.Parse(timeStr); } catch (Exception) { } foreach (var f in formats) { try { var t = DateTime.ParseExact(timeStr, f, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); return t; } catch (Exception) { } } return DateTime.MinValue; } This, well, makes me sick. Three points. (1) It's silly of me to think that I can actually collect a format list that will cover everything out there. (2) It's wrong! Notice that I'm treating an EST date time as UTC (since .NET seems oblivious to time zones). (3) I don't like using exceptions for logic. I am looking for an existing library (source only please) that is known to handle a bunch of these formats. Also, I would like to keep using UTC DateTimes throughout my code so whatever library is suggested should be able to produce DateTimes. Is there anything out there like this?

  • How to split up a long list using \n

    - by pypy
Here is a long string that I convert to a list so I can manipulate it, and then join it back together. I am having some trouble being able to have an iterator go through the list and when the iterator reach, let us say every 5th object, it should insert a '\n' right there. Here is an example: string = "Hello my name is Josh I like pizza and python I need this string to be really really long" string = string.split() # do the magic here string = ' '.join(string) print(string) Output: Hello my name is Josh I like pizza and python I need this string to be really really long Any idea how i can achieve this? I tried using: for words in string: if words % 5 == 0: string.append('\n') but it doesn't work. What am I missing?

  • dynamic module creation

    - by intuited
I'd like to dynamically create a module from a dictionary, and I'm wondering if adding an element to sys.modules is really the best way to do this. EG context = { a: 1, b: 2 } import types test_context_module = types.ModuleType('TestContext', 'Module created to provide a context for tests') test_context_module.__dict__.update(context) import sys sys.modules['TestContext'] = test_context_module My immediate goal in this regard is to be able to provide a context for timing test execution: import timeit timeit.Timer('a + b', 'from TestContext import *') It seems that there are other ways to do this, since the Timer constructor takes objects as well as strings. I'm still interested in learning how to do this though, since a) it has other potential applications; and b) I'm not sure exactly how to use objects with the Timer constructor; doing so may prove to be less appropriate than this approach in some circumstances. EDITS/REVELATIONS/PHOOEYS/EUREKAE: I've realized that the example code relating to running timing tests won't actually work, because import * only works at the module level, and the context in which that statement is executed is that of a function in the testit module. In other words, the globals dictionary used when executing that code is that of main, since that's where I was when I wrote the code in the interactive shell. So that rationale for figuring this out is a bit botched, but it's still a valid question. I've discovered that the code run in the first set of examples has the undesirable effect that the namespace in which the newly created module's code executes is that of the module in which it was declared, not its own module. This is like way weird, and could lead to all sorts of unexpected rattlesnakeic sketchiness. So I'm pretty sure that this is not how this sort of thing is meant to be done, if it is in fact something that the Guido doth shine upon. The similar-but-subtly-different case of dynamically loading a module from a file that is not in python's include path is quite easily accomplished using imp.load_source('NewModuleName', 'path/to/module/module_to_load.py'). This does load the module into sys.modules. However this doesn't really answer my question, because really, what if you're running python on an embedded platform with no filesystem? I'm battling a considerable case of information overload at the moment, so I could be mistaken, but there doesn't seem to be anything in the imp module that's capable of this. But the question, essentially, at this point is how to set the global (ie module) context for an object. Maybe I should ask that more specifically? And at a larger scope, how to get Python to do this while shoehorning objects into a given module?

  • Generic documentation guide-lines for implementation details

    - by mgj
Hi..:) For documentation and presentation purposes, we often find professionals/students creating SRS, coding guidelines etc. for these things there is some kind of a checklist which one could use to appropriately match what could relate to a specific case and accordingly one does a documentation for each. On those grounds could you please give me some sort of a checklist( any points/guidelines) one could use for going about Implementation( in the form of Implementation Details) in Python and C++ . Although this might sound specific as the query is "Implementation Details" and is different for different cases as one goes about the REAL implementation, I just want a SET of guidelines one should follow ( Preferably In Python, C++ specific, even for any other language is Welcome) if this( Implementation Details ) has to also be documented or presented. Hope the question is clear, I am sorry if it still sounds ambiguous, I guess this is the best I could do to frame my query. Thank you for your time...:)

  • Flex 3 - Image flickers at first load

    - by BS_C3
Hello Community! I have an application with different components that are accessible through a viewstack in the main application. The main application looks like that: <Application> <Viewstack> <myComponent1/> <myComponent2/> <myComponent3/> . . . </Viewstack> </Application> In myComponent1, I have a horizontalList where the user can select a product. In myComponent2, I have 2 containers inside the component. A left container with a larger image of the product selected in myComponent1 and a right container with all characteristics of the product. Both containers have an embed background image. When I select a product in myComponent1, the application displays myComponent2. When the component is displayed, I first see the page without the large image of the product, then both containers flickers and the product image is displayed. How could I avoid this flickering? It's really annoying _< Thanks in advance for your help =) Regards. BS_C3

  • GVim highlighting with matchadd eventually slows down?

    - by Kyle MacFarlane
I have the following in ~/.vim/ftplugin/python.vim to highlight long lines, accidental tabs and extra whitespace in Python files: hi CustomPythonErrors ctermbg=red ctermfg=white guibg=#592929 au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '\%>80v.\+', -1) au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '/^\t\+/', -1) au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '\s\+$', -1) au BufWinLeave *.py call clearmatches() The BufWinLeave is so that the matches are cleared when I switch to another file in case that file isn't a .py file. It's an essential feature for me when working with something like Django. It all works fine for random amounts of time; from ten minutes to hours (my guess is it depends on how many files I open/close). But eventually when any line over 80 characters is displayed GVim slows to a halt and requires a restart. Does anyone have any ideas why this would eventually slow down?

Also, when I tried to install wxPython it was impossible becouse the PYTHONPATH could not be found.(Just a side note) I have installed ActivePython 2.6 and the PATH is set so I can access python in cmd.

  • Communicate multiple times with a process without breaking the pipe?

    - by Manux
Hello, it's not the first time I'm having this problem and its really bugging me. Whenever I open a pipe using the Python subprocess module, I can only communicate with it once, as the documentation specifies: Read data from stdout and stderr, until end-of-file is reached proc = sub.Popen("psql -h darwin -d main_db".split(),stdin=sub.PIPE,stdout=sub.PIPE) print proc.communicate("select a,b,result from experiment_1412;\n")[0] print proc.communicate("select theta, zeta, result from experiment_2099\n")[0] The problem here is that the second time, Python isn't happy. Indeed, he decided to close the file after the first communicate: Traceback (most recent call last): File "a.py", line 30, in <module> print proc.communicate("select theta, zeta, result from experiment_2099\n")[0] File "/usr/lib64/python2.5/subprocess.py", line 667, in communicate return self._communicate(input) File "/usr/lib64/python2.5/subprocess.py", line 1124, in _communicate self.stdin.flush() ValueError: I/O operation on closed file So... multiple communications aren't allowed? I hope not ;) Please enlighten me.

  • mysql image disable print download

Hi, We use a Flex AIR client and a WAMP server. Tiff images are stored in MySQL. Currently, I can download the image from AIR client and it prompts for a download dialog. Things are fine till this point. We got a new requirement. Requirement is that only some users can print the image which gets downloaded. For other users, they should not be able to print the tiff image. Wondering how to accomplish this. One idea, not sure if its efficient, is to convert the image requested to pdf at the server side, disable print option there(hope there are API's available) and send back the pdf. Please let me know btter ideas. Also, is there a way to prevent file download dialog from popping up everytime the file is requested for download? Can we just get the file stream to the client and manipulate it to open with a particular viewer or write it to pdf... Please help.
