• DNS and Wildcard CNAME

  Whenever I attempt to make a record for *.schneiderdonnelly.com.au and CNAME it, I get two errors: You can't mix CNAME/MX records together using the same hostname. Domain root's cannot be CNAME's, however you can web-forward this record to www.schneiderdonnelly.com.au instead for the same effect. I've read it's possible so why can't I make it work? I donated $5 to be a premium member and I've been trying to make it work for yonks. http://i.stack.imgur.com/D9Ui5.jpg This is how I want it to appear. The last record. • 12.10 x64 - RTL8188CE - Intermittent/Slow Internet Connection

  I have to reset my internet connection often to get it to work. When it does work, it's definitely slower than when I'm on my Windows installation. My computer uses an RTL8188CE wireless card from Realtek. I'm running the 64-bit version of Ubuntu 12.10. Power management is not on. I've read on other sites that some people fixed the issue pertaining to this wireless card by downloading and installing the drivers from the Realtek site, but it seems as if that only helped people with 32-bit installations. Anyone have any luck with this specific wireless card?

• Finite state machine in C++

  So, I've read a lot about using FSMs to do game state management, things like what and FSM is, and using a stack or set of states for building one. I've gone through all that. But I'm stuck at writing an actual, well-designed implementation of an FSM for that purpose. Specifically, how does one cleanly resolve the problem of transitioning between states, (how) should a state be able to use data from other states, and so on. Does anyone have any tips on designing and writing a implementation in C++, or better yet, code examples?

  I've been reading John Hull book (Options, Futures and Other Derivatives) mostly on curiosity. I've read other books about financial markets in the past (like Elder's Trading for Living and the novel Reminiscences of a Stock Operator). But I'm really hooked by the John Hull book. My background is mostly scientific computing: number crunching, visualization and image processing. Mostly in C++, with some C, Fortran, Python, Ruby here and there. I've been thinking on moving on to quantitative finance - I'd like to do that. What would be the best way to start? Any tips?

  What are graphs, in computer science, and what are they used for? In laymen's terms preferably. I have read the definition on Wikipedia: In computer science, a graph is an abstract data type that is meant to implement the graph and hypergraph concepts from mathematics. A graph data structure consists of a finite (and possibly mutable) set of ordered pairs, called edges or arcs, of certain entities called nodes or vertices. As in mathematics, an edge (x,y) is said to point or go from x to y. The nodes may be part of the graph structure, or may be external entities represented by integer indices or references. but I'm looking for a less formal, easier to understand definition.

  It's quite difficult for me to understand these terms. I searched on google and read a little on Wikipedia but I'm still not sure. I've determined so far that: Abstract Data Type is a definition of new type, describes its properties and operations. Data Structure is an implementation of ADT. Many ADT can be implemented as the same Data Structure. If I think right, array as ADT means a collection of elements and as Data Structure, how it's stored in a memory. Stack is ADT with push, pop operations, but can we say about stack data structure if I mean I used stack implemented as an array in my algorithm? And why heap isn't ADT? It can be implemented as tree or an array.

• Open source level editor for HTML5 platform game?

  A natty GUI editor is very helpful to create level map. I want to use some open-source choices rather than build my own from scratch. I found Tiled Map Editor but it doesn't work for what I want. Though I'm building HTML5 game, I don't have to use a HTML5 level editor as long as it can output well-formatted map files which my javascript can read. Edit: Sorry for the confusion. Tiled does not work for me because to make the player perform a 'tricky' jump, sometimes I want to set the distance between two platforms to, say, 7/3 or 8/3 tiles. But in Tiled I get only 2 or 3. If Tiled can do this, please teach me.

• Java 7 Adoption at 79%

  According to a recent blog post from the cloud hosting company Jelastic, Java 7 adoption on their platform is now at 79%. While this is a single data point and should not be read too broadly, it does match other indicators we have that Java 7 is picking up, such as uptake among Oracle middleware customers, download statistics and online activity. The spike in adoption in April coincided with the release of JDK 7 Update 4. This is in line with our expectations since that release added Mac OS X support as well as java.com moving to Java 7 as the default download for end-users; two events that marked the maturity of Java 7 to the community. Since the original release of Java 7, Oracle has shipped 7 update releases, added ports to Mac OSX and Linux/ARM and expanded JavaFX to all common desktop platforms.

• No Launcher, Messed Resolution and Artifacts!

  I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my desktop, and it boot up ok, but I was having some artifacts, so I read somewhere that I needed nvidia drivers, I downloaded them, along with compiz (I enjoy the nice effects), but after that, when I rebooted the computer, the resolution was all messes up, and now I can't access anything because there is no launcher! I inserted Ubuntu CD, booted from the CD, the resolution was fine and eerything was OK, so I repaired the installation, but after restarting the computer it was all messed up again! Please help me! I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 on a Core i7 and a GTX 460 + GTX 280! How Ubuntu looks as soon as I turn on my computer on:

My “ Can anyone do anything about the spam here on weblogs.asp.net? ” post from October got over 12 spam comments posted to it in the past 24 hours. I have comments all moderated, but that just means I have a crapload of work to do each time people comment. • Flash: Memory usage is low but framerate keeps dropping

  So I'm working on a puzzle game in flash. For all intents and purposes it's like Tetris. I spawn blocks, they move around the screen, then they get destroyed and disappear. I was having some trouble with the memory usage being too high over time so I read up on memory management and I think I have that figured out now. It's definitely climbing slower than it was before, but the framerate is still taking a huge dive after playing for a while. If it's not a memory leak what else could be causing this?   I am looking into learning Python for web development. Assuming I already have some basic web development experience with Java (JSP/Servlets), I'm already familiar with web design (HTML, CSS, JS), basic programming concepts and that I am completely new to Python, how do I go about learning Python in a structured manner that will eventually lead me to web development with Python and Django? I'm not in a hurry to make web applications in Python so I really want to learn it thoroughly so as not to leave any gaps in my knowledge of the technologies involving web development in Python. Are there any books, resource or techniques to help me in my endeavor? In what order should I do/read them? UPDATE: When I say learning in a structured manner, I mean starting out from the basics then learning the advanced stuff without leaving some of the important details/features that Python has to offer. I want to know how to apply the things that I already know in programming to Python.

• WCF service and security

  Been building a WP7 app and now I need it to communicate to a WCF service I made to make changes to an SQL database. I am a little concerned about security as the user name and password for accessing the SQL database is in the App.Config. I have read in places that you can encrypt the user name and password in the config file. As the username and password is never exposed to the clients connected to the WCF service, would security in my situation be much of a problem? Just in case anyone suggests a method of security, I do not have SSL on my web server.

• Can't create site connection in Contribute. Adminstrator account removed from domain

  I have been tasked with administering several sites through Contribute. The previous administrator has since left and his domain account was removed. I believe I had been set up as an additional admin on these sites previously. However, when I attempt to create a connection through "My Connections" in Contribute using SFTP and my credentials, I get the following error: I have verified that I have read/write access to these sites through FTP. How can I take control of these sites through Contribute so that I can start administering them? Is this related to the removal of the previous admin's account?
