  • Handling button click in ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM

    I have a View in which the user is able to upload a file to the server. In this view I also have 2 buttons: one to Upload a file and other to Download the last file imported. In my Controller I created 2 action methods: Import and Export. How could I manage to redirect each button click to the proper action method in my Controller? I have tried Html.ActionLink: <%= Html.ActionLink("Upload", "Import", "OracleFile")%> <%= Html.ActionLink("Download", "Export", "OracleFile")%> Html.ActionLink didn't do the trick. The action links were taking me to the right Action methods but they were generating a GET request. This way Request.Files.Count = 0. I need a POST request.

    I have a web service that I call via ajax that requires the user to be logged in. in each method I want to check if the user is logged in and send a 403 code if they are not, however when I call a Response.End() I get the error "Thread was being aborted". What should I call instead?   • Adding custom valiadtion to ASP.NET controls

    We're trying to build a simple asp control for some clients where they can just drop in a single block - i.e. <captcha:CaptchaControl ID="CaptchaControl1" runat="server" Server="http://localhost:51947/" /> and have it render the control. The catch is that I can't get this to include custom validation. Right now I'm using the RenderContents function to display the layout of the control itself as well as hook it up the to Javascript.     Currently I have a third party control that generates a Metafile. I can save the .wmf file to disk with out issue. The problem is how do I render the Metafile as a Tiff file. Currently I have the following code to get my metafile and save it.   • Working with DataBinding and Page_Load in ASP.NET MVP

    I'm using WebForms MVP to create some simple reporting applications. Most of these applications consist of a few search criteria inputs and a ComponentArt datagrid that I'm populating with data from the database. Most of the markup is in a UserControl, which is in a content page with a master page. My problem is that the control's Page_Load event is firing before the control events that caused the postback in the first place. Basically, the user clicks the search button, and Page_Load is fired BEFORE Search_Click. This is messing with the databinding scheme I've been using. So that's the question: Why is my Page_Load event firing before the event handler, and what can I do about it? I don't THINK this problem is related to WebForms MVP or ComponentArt, but obviously I could be wrong. Thanks.

    I am having difficulty with the following code which is inside a static method of a non-static class. int iRand; int rand; rand = new Random((int)DateTime.Now.Ticks); iRand = rand.Next(50000); The iRand number, along with some other values, are being inserted into a new row of an Access MDB table via OLEDB. The iRand number is being inserted into a field that is part of the primary key, and the insert attempt is throwing the following exception even though the iRand number is supposed to be random: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again. Could the fact the method is static be making the iRand number stay the same, for some reason?

    We have some legacy software which depends on sending keystrokes to a DOS window and then scraping the screen. I am trying to re-create the software by redirecting the input and output streams of the process directly to my application. I can send basic text and I receive response's fine. I just need to emulate these modifiers.

  • Proper usage (best practices) of Browsable attribute in .NET for runtime grid component behavior

    I understand how Browsable attribute is supposed to work. It's supposed to hide a property from showing up in a PropertyGrid in design time. It also has another effect in that it will stop a Property from showing up in components such as Grids, or specifically Infragistics WinGrid. I am not sure if it has this behaviour on regular Windows Forms grids. This works, but it doesn't sound like Browsable is being use as intended when being used for 'Run time' displaying of a property on a grid component. Any literature from Microsoft on proper use. Even though it works, I don't want to use this attribute to hide columns on a grid bound to a business object if it's not indeed the correct usage of the attribute, but rather something some grid vendors decided to use to determine property visibility on their grids.

    Ok, i can use jeditable to edit-in-place some content on a page and the content will be saved to a database. But whats the best way to re get that text-content from db to show into a place holder? p id="paraNo34" class="editable" --What i will write here so that it will get content from a db's table: [Content], where id=="paraNo34". /p The problem is if i will use some hard coded text like p id="paraNo34" class="editable" --Some text here /p I will able to edit-in-place using jeditable but when i will refresh page it will show the same "Some text here" as its not getting data from db.

  • Editing a labels text value through JavaScript in VB ASP.NET

    I have a simple form containing two text boxes, I am attempting to apply some validation to the first text box using JavaScript. This is the first time I have attempted this and am having some trouble. I have a label beside the text box stating an error, this labels visibility property is set to False. I wish the labels visibility to turn true if the text box is empty when the user loses focus. For this I have used the onBlur option within the tags of the text box. It then calls the JavaScript function and should set the label to Visible but it does not. I have tested to see if it is entering the function by using an alert instead and that works. The problem seems to be trying to alter the visibility property of the label. Here is the portion of my code: The JavaScript: function myRegEx(frm) { if ( boxUsername.value == "" ) { invalidUser.visible = True; return false; } } The form: <asp:TextBox onblur="return myRegEx(this)" id="boxUsername" runat="server" Width="200px"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Label id="invalidUser" runat="server" visible="False" forecolor="Red" text="* Username must be alphanumeric with no special characters"></asp:Label> Any help would be brilliant.

    I have a Logon page in a MVC (1.0) application that I am securing with SSL, I have an attribute that inspects the request for the page and redirects to a https uri when it is requested with http. This all works, however when I post the form content i get the following error: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'rememberMe' of non-nullable type 'System.Boolean' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult LogOn(System.String, System.String, Boolean, System.String)' in 'DAC.US.Web.Portal.Controllers.AccountController'. To make a parameter optional its type should be either a reference type or a Nullable type.
